How to make topiary with your own hands: from coffee, napkins, satin ribbons and corrugated paper. Do-it-yourself topiary (99 photos): master class for beginners How to decorate a topiary vase

Topiaries are gaining more and more popularity. They are used in the form of interior decorations in houses, apartments, salons, boutiques, cafes, offices, etc.

Making topiary yourself is very easy. For this, you can use various materials, depending on the interior for which it is intended. These can be all kinds of natural materials (cones, shells, coffee beans, nut shells, beans and much more).

I'll tell you how I made a delicate and pretty one from simple and inexpensive artificial flowers. And if you<<раскошелитесь>> for gorgeous flowers that almost exactly imitate natural ones, then your topiary will be simply gorgeous!

In addition to the flowers themselves, you will also need:

the ball on which you will glue them:
branch - topiary trunk;
glue Moment Crystal;
building gypsum, also known as alabaster;
flowerpot;
acrylic paints;
sisal, ribbons and other decorative decorations.

Make a hole in the ball and insert a twig. We received the basis of our future European tree, as topiary is also called. To facilitate the process of gluing flowers, the ball can be wrapped in a paper napkin and secured with thread.

We dilute the alabaster with water and bring it to the consistency of thick sour cream. Place this solution in a pot. By the way, in this case I just used a coffee can lid. I decorated it with ribbons, braid, and made a bow. I mostly sell my products. So, these hand-made flowerpots are in greater demand than store-bought ones. Probably because with them the entire product turns out to be 100% handmade.

Gypsum solution tends to harden quickly, so we immediately put our tree in it. You will have to hold it with your hand for a few minutes until the plaster sets at least slightly. Leave until completely dry for about a day.

Let's start decorating the ball. We disassemble the flower branches into flowers and leaves. First we glue the flowers, we do it almost chaotically, leaving only small gaps between them. Then we fill these gaps with leaves. You can also use ribbons, beads, etc. - show all your imagination.
We paint the barrel with acrylic paint, decorate it with a braid of beads, and tie a bow. We glue sisal of a suitable color into the pots.

That's it! Small material costs, more patience and maximum taste and imagination - the topiary is ready!

Topiary made from paper napkins

I'll tell you how to make an original topiary from almost nothing... You just need to show a little imagination.

To create such a topiary I needed:

paper napkins;
plastic ball;
tree branch;
plastic container;
plaster or alabaster;
Titan glue;
scissors;
stapler;
paper circle template;
satin and nylon ribbons of different widths;
braid-lace;
bead braid;
decorative elements (hearts);
floral paper.

To make paper flowers, I fold the napkin in four and fasten it in the middle with a stapler. I place a circle template in the center of the napkin and cut it out with scissors. I squeeze each layer of the napkin towards the center and then straighten it out. It turns out to be a flower. For topiary, I first make 15-17 of these flowers, and as I work, I’ll add more if necessary.

I make a hole in the center of the ball and insert a branch - the base of the topiary is ready. I wrap the ball in a pink napkin and fasten it with thread - it’s easier to glue the flowers onto the napkin, and the blue ball will not be visible in the finished product.
I glue flowers in a circle. I fill the space left between the flowers with all kinds of bows made from ribbons, hearts, and lace.

To plant a tree, I make a gypsum solution: I dilute the gypsum with water in a plastic glass. I don’t adhere to a specific proportion; the solution should have the thickness of sour cream. I immediately put the solution in the pots, because... gypsum tends to harden quickly. I put the tree in a flower pot and hold it there for the first 10-15 minutes until the plaster hardens slightly. It takes at least a day for the plaster to dry completely.

I wrapped ribbon and beads around the tree trunk. I use a plastic container as a flowerpot. She wrapped it in floral corrugated paper and tied it with lace braid. I also covered the bottom of the flowerpot (bottom) with a circle of the same paper. At the foot of the tree I glued the same flowers from napkins, and added ribbons and beads between them. The final touch was to tie a satin ribbon bow on the tree trunk. That's it - the napkin topiary is ready.

As you can see, everything is very simple, accessible, cheap, and the result is obvious! Try it and you will have an exclusive for all occasions. Among your friends, family and acquaintances there will be many lovers and connoisseurs of handmade work; they will be very happy with a gift made by you with soul and love!

Topiary of handmade flowers

This is the second year I have been interested in floristry, including making coffee trees. I will try to conduct a fairly detailed master class so that everyone can make such a coffee tree to decorate their kitchen or desktop.

Prepare the following materials:

coffee beans;
plastic ball;
a tree branch or anything else that will<<стволом>> coffee tree;
alabaster or building plaster;
the container in which you will install the tree;
dark brown color;
brush;
glue Moment Crystal;
various decor for decorating a ball and tree flower pots.

Make a hole in the ball and place the ball on a branch - the base of the tree is ready! I buy the ball at a children's toy store (kits for filling a dry pool). In order not to glue the coffee beans in two layers, I use some trick: I wrap the ball in a paper napkin and paint it with a dark brown color.

While the paint is drying, prepare the solution in which you will install the tree. To do this, pour alabaster into the prepared container and add water. You should get a solution approximately the consistency of sour cream. Since this solution hardens quite quickly, immediately install the tree in it. For the first 5-10 minutes you will have to hold the wood with your hand until the plaster hardens at least slightly. Leave until the solution dries completely, this will take about a day.

And now comes the most painstaking work - gluing the coffee beans. If you are a coffee lover, and you most likely are, then you will have a lot of fun! Believe me, I'm hooked and enjoying myself!! From my experience, I recommend using Jardin coffee beans; among the affordable ones, this is the best option. I recommend gluing randomly, but as tightly as possible, so that there are no gaps. I prefer to glue all the grains with the round side down, but this is not necessary.

Let the pasted grains dry, and you can start decorating the container. I used felt in this version. I covered the pot with it. I added the same felt decorative elements, ribbons, and coffee beans. I glued sisal into the pot. I didn’t glue the coffee beans, I just put them in a pot. This is a kind of flavoring; as the smell fades, you can change the grains. I painted the tree trunk and tied a bow of satin ribbons. Since I made the trees for the New Year, I put a snake in the flowerpot, the symbol of the year.

At first, topiary simply referred to a garden in which ornamental trees were trimmed short with adjacent garden sculptures. In the current understanding, topiary means an original small tree. If you want to quickly get a small tree with the perfect shape, you can make it yourself.

At least four elements are needed for this craft. Such a small list is just a base, without which a sort of flower globe on a stem will not work.

Required items:

  • Pot/stand;
  • Trunk;
  • Warp;
  • Crown.

The main craft is usually a ball. Man has an inherent desire to comprehend perfection, and strict geometry sometimes brings him closer to this. But in the photo you can see other forms of topiary, for example, a heart.

Today, a foam blank is used as a base. In order not to make the ball himself, the master buys several at once in craft stores, and this, of course, simplifies the work.

For the trunk, thick wire is usually taken, it needs to be wrapped with twine (twine is used most often), or with decorative braid or ribbon.

Making your own topiary: the basics step by step

The most interesting stage of work, where great opportunities open up, is the manufacture of the crown. Paper is often used, from corrugated paper to multi-layer napkins. Creating such a crown requires care.

Fabric crafts are also interesting; in the photo you can see all the nuances of this work. The now popular felt is widely used in the creation of topiary; cotton and satin ribbons are also used.

The fabric crown will be complemented by beads, seed beads, and buttons. Whatever the crown is made from, the most interesting works can be made from pistachios. European wood (as these products are also called) turn out to be very natural. True, you will need a lot of pistachios, unless you are planning to make a mini-tree.

In addition to pistachios, coffee beans are actively used. This technique is in such demand because it can kill two birds with one stone. The bonsai tree will not only be beautiful, it is important that it also emits a special aroma.

DIY thread topiary

A separate story is topiary made of different thicknesses of threads. Usually the threads serve as the basis for the future crown. To make such a tree, you need to wrap threads around a balloon, and it is important that the threads sit on the glue. The balloon is then deflated (just poke a pin through it) and you are left with a round, porous figure of thread. Such a thread globe. Just wait until the glue dries!

Other threads can be used to decorate the trunk of a tree. You should not use the same threads from which the globe is made. The structure of such thread structures is used not only in the creation of topiary. This is often how a lamp is made - quickly and easily.

Topiary made from coffee beans: fragrant decor

Coffee beans themselves are an excellent decorative material. In their color and texture, they are not inferior to the decor made of glass beads, beads, and even the incredible aroma is associated with the benefits of coffee.

There is also such a fashionable type of coffee topiary made from coffee as a coffee gentleman. This tree has handles, a butterfly or a whole tailcoat, and a cylinder on the head-crown.

Coffee topiary is characterized by:

  • Selection of grains - large and beautiful ones go to the upper layer of the crown, and small and chopped ones to the lower layer;
  • Instead of a pot or vase, you can use a beautiful coffee cup;
  • Chocolate candies can complement this topiary.

The grains can be spray painted or varnished.

The main stage of making the base for the crown is already known to you. The crown may not necessarily be in the shape of a ball. If a “heart” topiary is planned, the base is made using a cardboard template covered with crumpled paper or cotton wool.

Napkin topiary: delicate flowers

Modern paper napkins are more of a decorative product than a household one. The structure of the napkin and the pattern inspire craftsmen to widely use these same napkins. Including in the manufacture of topiary.

How can you use napkins in this case:

  • Make flowers, buds, roses from fragments of a napkin, and then create compositions from them;
  • Cover the smooth base ball for the crown with the top layer of a napkin (decoupage principle), cover with a layer of varnish;
  • Creating numerous miniature lumps from a napkin and pasting these lumps over the base ball to form a textured crown.

Napkins are also a good material for decorating a tree trunk or a pot. And here you will need to use decoupage techniques. New Year's topiaries made from napkins and textured Christmas trees are especially elegant.

Topiary made of pine cones: New Year's decoration or memories of autumn

This topiary will be an excellent winter decoration, and pine cones are somehow related to autumn decor. Most often, the cones themselves are subjected to decorative processing. So, for topiary they are often painted with golden spray paint (or silver). And with the help of a simple bleach, ordinary buds can be turned into snow-white without any coloring.

Pine cone topiary is most often a tree with a round crown covered with cones. Sometimes the crown can be heart-shaped. New Year's topiary can be made in the form of a snowflake from cones. In this case, it is advisable to cover the snowflake with artificial snow. This can be ordinary coarse sea salt fixed with PVA glue.

As an autumn craft, this topiary also includes chestnuts, acorns, nuts and leaves.

Cone decor: tree of happiness (photo master class)

Let's take a closer look at the process of making a tree of happiness from pine cones in an autumn theme. A foam ball will be used as the base, which can be replaced with a homemade ball made of any material.

Product made from satin ribbons: DIY tree of happiness

Satin ribbons are an inexpensive and accessible material that can be used at different stages of topiary making. Most often, ribbons are used as additional decor. They are tied around pots, trunks, and bows made of satin ribbons complement the crown.

But this type of topiary is also popular, as a souvenir tree with flowers made of satin ribbons.

The principle of creating such a tree is simple:

  • A bud is formed from satin ribbons of different colors, the components of which are sewn together with hidden seams;
  • The required number of flower buds is made, which are fixed with hot glue on the base ball;
  • The trunk of the tree is tied with a satin ribbon or a combination of both;
  • The pot can also be tied with a thin ribbon.

The video master class will show the process of making a tree from ribbons in more detail.

Autumn topiary: memories of the golden age

An autumn tree or a souvenir topiary decorates the house like nothing else, if you want to bring accents of the lyrics of autumn into it. Most often, natural materials are used, which can be found literally under your feet.

Cones, chestnuts, acorns, dried flowers, berries, rowan and, of course, leaves are actively used.

This type of topiary is popular as a tree with a crown of roses made from leaves. To prevent the leaves from wilting, they can be soaked in a glycerin solution. True, this process is not so simple, if only because for two to three weeks glycerin will be absorbed into the leaf through a slightly cut twig. And then the leaves will dry for another three weeks.

Sea topiary: souvenir made from shells

Topiary can be made as follows:

  • Cover the crown with beautiful shells, decorating such a ball in one place with a decorative starfish;
  • Wrap the trunk with a satin blue or turquoise ribbon;
  • The pot can be a souvenir mug bought just on vacation, and if there is some kind of symbolic inscription on it, even better;
  • You can throw smooth pebbles or sea sand into the pot.

Instead of a round crown, there may be a heart-shaped crown. And this, in turn, could be a photo frame where a canvas of shells frames a photograph from a seaside holiday.

MK with step-by-step photos will show you how to make topiary from shells in detail.

Corrugated paper topiary

Corrugated paper is cheap, and the number of handicraft items where it can be used is huge. Making topiaries also could not do without the use of corrugated paper (or crepe paper).

Having made the required number of flowers from corrugated paper, they are glued to the base ball with a hot-melt gun, forming a flower crown.

Corrugated paper has the most wonderful property - it is flexible and stretches well, making the petals incredibly lifelike.

Topiary “Money Tree”: how to attract financial well-being

The topiary itself is often called the money tree, although it was originally considered the tree of happiness. But you can also turn such a lucky souvenir into a money symbol - for this you use either coins or banknotes (souvenir, finite).

Coins can become a beautiful crown decoration. You just need to take ten-ruble coins that appear to be gold. They do not need to be additionally decorated, varnished or undergo other procedures. Coins are glued on according to the principle of scales, first one coin, then two more on top of it, so that the first one is in the middle. And around these three coins others are stuck.

The money tree of their bills also looks great, but the bills need to be presented gracefully. Buds, rolls, “birds”, etc. are formed from them. This money tree is an excellent gift option for a young family that has yet to build their family budget.

New Year's topiary: decorate the house for the holiday

New Year's souvenir trees are special topiaries that can be made from a variety of materials. Most often, topiaries are made in the form of a Christmas tree, that is, the usual round crown is replaced by the shape of a Christmas tree.

Cones are used as materials for New Year's topiary:

  • Cones– both in natural form and decorated;
  • Tulle or organza, from which you can make so-called pounds;
  • Felt- in itself, in its texture, which is an excellent decor;
  • Sequins, from which “Christmas tree scales” can be created;
  • Textile;
  • Christmas tinsel and sweets;
  • Chocolates and beautiful wrappers.

New Year's topiary is a special decor. The use of rhinestones, beads, bugles, buttons, braid and satin ribbons is welcome. As a pot, you can use cups that are decorated with cotton wool, New Year-themed napkins, tinsel, etc.

Other options: what topiary can be made from

Almost anything can make a great decorative base for topiary. You can combine materials, create eclectic trees, etc.

Examples of topiary:

  • Topiary made of buttons. Buttons of different sizes and colors can become a crown for a tree. They are easy to glue, easy to work with, and assembling the buttons is not at all difficult.
  • Paper rose topiary. Paper roses from old sheet music (many people have collections lying around on the mezzanine) look very beautiful - this is vintage, which is so relevant now.
  • Pistachio topiary. Pistachio shells, both decorated and natural, can decorate the crown of a tree.
  • Pasta topiary. Pasta is an excellent material for decoration. They are easy to paint, varnish, and glue together. All that remains is to choose the pasta of the desired shape.

Sometimes not the most ordinary materials complement traditional topiary.

Unusual topiary design

European trees serve as excellent home decoration. For the kitchen, the living room, and other rooms, such trees will serve as natural decor. And e If the material from which the topiary is made is difficult to surprise anyone today (although it is possible), then it is definitely possible to impress with the form.

Topiary Ideas:

  • Rowan bonsai. Autumn craft, elegant, natural, simple to make. Rowan has a beautiful texture and color that can always be complemented with other autumn vegetation. To build such beauty yourself, watch the video master class. A red rowan tree is an ideal autumn interior gift.
  • Heart. Topiaries made from burlap and beads in the shape of a heart look great. Often such topiaries are used as an accessory for themed photo shoots.
  • Bonsai made of lush fabric. And this tree will become the decor for such celebrations as weddings. You can build many mini topiaries, the creation of which does not take much time.
  • Tree-lamp. A cozy decoration for the home - a cute option for both the kitchen and the bedroom.
  • Topiary for birthday. WITHToday, topiaries are popular not with a crown ball, but with numbers indicating the number of years of age. You will get two trunk-stems, on each of which a number “sits”. For example - 30. This could be the same topiary made from coffee beans, with crowns with numbers. Well, the pot in which such an unusual tree grows is decorated in an appropriate way for the birthday.
  • Poppy flower made of coffee and burlap. A beautiful topiary is made from coffee beans and fabric, which together can make up a poppy flower, where the grains are the core and the fabric is the petals. You can use crepe paper instead of fabric.

You can create a real mini-garden from such trees at home with your own hands. You can take pictures from the Internet, video instructions, and kitchen decor catalogs as a basis.

Express topiary: master class for beginners (video)

DIY topiary (photo)

In gardening, topiary is a curly cutting of plants. Needlewomen took this idea as a basis and began to create interesting topiary from artificial flowers, paper, vegetables, dummies, pine cones, sweets, beads, coffee beans, pasta, and waste material.

The fastest way to create trees is by florists who use ready-made material (flowers, branches, berries, leaves, grass, foam blanks). All they have to do is assemble everything into bright compositions in a few minutes. Let's look at several ways to make such a tree from

Basics of making topiary

Russian craftsmen teach beginners how to create trees, starting with the trunk and crown, and then pay attention to the roots. This is due to the fact that the bottom of the topiary is filled with plaster. Foreign craftsmen and florists use ready-made special foam and cast iron containers.

That is, in the classic method, the crown is attached to Instead, you can take foam rubber or a newspaper ball (crumple up the newspaper, rewind it with threads, forming a ball). Here everything depends on the method of fastening: polystyrene and foam rubber allow you to pierce it with a blunt end, and a newspaper ball needs to be pierced with needles or the material must be glued.

Flower topiary can have a long (straight, zigzag) or short trunk. Attach it to the ball until a crown forms. This is necessary in order to start fastening the elements from it. When using glue, read about its properties, as many varieties simply “burn” the foam.

The trunk can be an ordinary branch, a block, thick cardboard, plastic, or wire. Some craftsmen wrap the tube with newspaper and then with a cloth soaked in plaster. Such trunks will only need to be painted with acrylic paints and varnished. A budget option is to wrap the barrel with brown thread.

The classic way to make topiary

The bottom of the topiary is often represented by a pot or vase, which is decorated. A trunk with a crown is inserted inside, filled with plaster and a layer of paper, thread, grass is placed on top, twigs and beaded flowers are inserted. This is due to the fact that nothing is glued to the plaster, but flowers, insects and other elements can be attached to grass-shaped threads.

Let's consider the classic method of making a tree from top to bottom. To make a flower topiary, you will need:

  • artificial roses;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • foam ball;
  • glass flask in the form of a wine glass.

First, cut off the heads of the flowers, leaving a centimeter tail. Next, place it on the flask. Some craftswomen use ordinary inverted wine glasses. Then you need to use durable, unbreakable material.

Starting from the attachment point, glue the roses by piercing the ball with the tail. Try not to leave empty spaces. Otherwise, have on hand various butterflies, beads, berries that will harmonize with the product. Decorate the trunk with a bow, and the tree is ready to decorate the wedding banquet.

Reverse method of making a tree

Topiary from artificial flowers can be made starting from the roots. To do this, take a flowerpot or pot, decorate it with beads, bows, or simply cover it with beautiful corrugated paper with decorative ribbons. But more often, craftsmen find unusual shapes: baskets, jugs, cones that do not need to be decorated.

Fill the container with a foam base, which is sold in a florist shop. It looks like a gray brick. It is cut to the size of the pot and inserted inside. The top is decorated with special grass, pierced with a knife or secured with glue. Next they move on to making the crown. Take the same foam brick and plan it with a knife to form a ball or other shape.

The appearance of the topiary depends on its shape. Now the base is covered with grass and pinned. Take a ribbon with artificial flowers (they are used for wedding decorations) and wrap the ball around it like a ball of thread. Now the barrel is inserted into the ball, and the other end, coated with glue, is placed in the pot. Then take matching artificial petals (available from florists or craft supermarkets) and glue them onto the grass, to the trunk.

Unusual topiary: master class with photos

Note the foam base. It is sold in a wide variety of forms. The elongated shape, similar to a lampshade, is especially popular. This is the easiest base to work with.

  1. Take a green pot and decorate the sides with rosebuds. You insert a piece of foam plastic inside and cover it with grass.
  2. Pierce the base of the lampshade with a tree stem and paint it green. Leave to dry.
  3. Take a green satin ribbon and stick artificial roses on it.
  4. Insert the stem with the crown into the pot. Decorate with rose buds or petals.
  5. Glue the ribbon with roses in a spiral onto the painted base.
  6. Decorate the trunk with a bow.

Those who don’t like minimalism decorate entirely with topiaries made of artificial flowers (photo with two lampshade trees). As you can see, the base can be decorated with flowers to make the tree bright, or wrapped with green branches, achieving a natural plant look. In these cases, you can use ordinary flower pots for the “roots”.

Topiary for the site

For those who love wildflowers, we offer the following master class on making topiary for your garden plot. For this you will need:

  1. Plastic branch with sparse green leaves. This will be the trunk, so choose a thick and strong base.
  2. Field artificial flowers.
  3. Ceramic flowerpot.
  4. Foam base, decorative grass.
  5. Satin ribbon.
  6. Glue, scissors, plastic fasteners.

How to make topiary from artificial flowers in this case? You decorate the vase in a known way, i.e., cut the foam to its size, mask the voids with sisal, and cover the top with lawn grass.

Next, take a branch and attach artificial flowers to its base. Determine the length, cut off the excess. In fact, you need to line the trunk with wildflower branches and then tighten them with plastic fasteners. You can cover it with transparent electrical tape. Place the topiary into the pot. Then cut one branch with flowers into small branches and insert it into the foam near the trunk. Decorate the trunk with a bow. The garden tree is ready.

Tea master class (step by step)

Topiary can have a completely different shape and be created without a foam base, plaster and other usual tools. For this master class you will need:

  • cup and saucer;
  • artificial flowers;
  • glue;
  • a thick wire that will withstand the weight of the cup (you may find beautiful plastic cups).

Now bend the wire and apply the cup to determine the length of the craft. Glue it on. The stronger the wire, the more inclined the cup can be placed, as if simulating the process of pouring tea from a cup into a saucer. Now take artificial flowers for topiary, cut off the heads without tails, since you will glue them to each other.

You can buy dummies of berries, grass, leaves. Start gluing the flowers from the inside of the cup, covering the wire. Then glue it on all sides and proceed to decorating the saucer. This type of topiary is not as complicated as it seems at first. The main thing here is to buy good glue, strong thick wire and bright cups.

How to achieve unusual shapes?

If you look at the work of the masters, you will see that trees are made not only round, but also square, triangular, pyramidal, zigzag, double, heart-shaped. To do this, craftsmen use ready-made bases for the crown or use some tricks:

Summing up

Topiaries can be made in a wide variety of shapes. Go to flower and construction stores, pay attention to different materials. For example, a ready-made woven hollow ball is sold, which is wrapped in grass and pasted over with flowers.

Topiaries made from artificial flowers are created in an evening. Their cost depends on the size of the tree and the material. Typically, a 30-centimeter topiary costs from 500 rubles: for a pot, artificial flowers, hot melt glue, plaster. And if you go to “men’s” stores (building materials, fishing and automotive goods), then it is quite possible to find analogues at a lower price.

Select flowers and plants. Medium-sized buds on strong stems are suitable for making topiary. These can be roses, chrysanthemums, small lilies, daisies. If you want to use flowers with flexible and fragile stems, then you can use floral wire for fastening. As additional plants, use gypsophila, various dried flowers, Kermek and any green twigs.

Also, to make topiary from fresh flowers you will need:
- floristic oasis;
- thick wire or kebab skewer;
- satin ribbons;
- organza ribbons;
- superglue;
- scissors;
- flower pot;
- plaster;
- decorative elements.

Making a “tree of happiness”

Unlike making topiary from artificial materials, a product made from fresh flowers must begin not with the formation of the crown, but with the preparation of the base. Make a trunk. To do this, take a kebab stick and wrap it tightly with a satin ribbon. Secure the edges with superglue.

Dilute the plaster with water to the consistency of a homogeneous viscous mass. Pour it into a flower pot, place the prepared stick and leave for a day for the plaster to harden. At this time, you can prepare an oasis and buy flowers.

Usually, florist shops sell oases in the form of a rectangle. To give it the classic round topiary crown shape, trim off the excess with scissors. The base does not have to be perfectly smooth; all errors will be hidden by the flowers. Place the oasis in water. Once it is completely wet, squeeze it out lightly.

Place the flowers in water to soak them in moisture, then shake. Cut off the excess part of the stem with pruning shears or scissors, leaving a petiole 3-5 cm long. If you are using flowers with a weak stem, wrap it with floral wire.

First, stick the largest flowers into the oasis, there should be few of them, 5 or 7 pieces are enough. Distribute them evenly over the surface of the ball. Insert smaller flowers and greenery into the spaces between them.

Insert the prepared crown with fresh flowers into the upper part of the structure onto the trunk and tie an organza bow. Decorate the surface of the pot with pebbles or dry grass. Add decorative elements as you wish.

The secrets of making 20 types of topirias are revealed with step-by-step instructions and video lessons.

The history of the origins of the art of topiary stretches back to ancient times and involved the curly cutting of green plants. Intricate tree figures could be observed in the gardens of the Roman nobility, whose original shape was given by court slave gardeners.

A modern topiary is a miniature copy of trees and bushes, and it depends only on the imagination of a skilled florist what shape of crown he will give to his own tree. Topiary is a tree of happiness that has regained its popularity in modern European floristry.

DIY topiary for a wedding

You can make topiary for a wedding with your own hands. To get started, check out the ideas for wedding topiary shapes in our gallery.

Aren't the ideas simply charming? Can you imagine the faces of the newlyweds if you present them with a “wedding tree of happiness” as a gift? Or maybe your family is planning a celebration, and you will be able to make beautiful decorations for the wedding table yourself, surprising you not only with your original idea, but also with your craftsmanship.

For example, we offer you an interesting wedding decor in the form of topiary, on which you will not have to spend a lot of money and effort. Please prepare the following materials:

  • Original pot for a flowerpot
  • Twig for the trunk
  • Hot melt adhesive
  • Stipler
  • Beads
  • Beads
  • Cotton pads
  • Green crepe paper

So let's get to work.

  • Our wedding tree will consist of roses, which we will make from ordinary cotton pads at the rate of one pad - one rose
  • Fold the two sides of the disk towards the center so that we get a wide edge on one side and a sharp edge on the other, and fasten it in the center with a stapler
  • Now carefully unfold the wide edge outward, and the first white rose bud is born in your hands
  • Do the same with other disks - the number of roses depends on how wide your ball is

  • Let's start preparing the crown for the wedding tree of happiness. To create it, you can use polystyrene foam, crumpled newspapers into a ball.
  • The main thing is that the material for the base is not heavy. Wrap the ball on top with a white sheet of paper and secure it with glue to the prepared twig, which in your case will serve as the trunk
  • Glue the ball to the base of the barrel with hot glue
  • The next step is gluing the roses. They need to be glued thickly, pressed tightly against each other so that the base is not even visible

  • At this stage of the work, you need to take crepe paper and cut out small squares from it that will serve as small leaves. Glue them with PVA glue

  • Finally, place white beads on the bouquet in a chaotic pattern using hot glue.
  • It's time to decorate the pot
  • A beautiful small vessel or yogurt jar is perfect for this purpose.
  • Pour dry plaster into a container and fill it with water until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream.

Rose napkin topiary step by step instructions

So, let's get to work - we will create roses.

  • In order to create this magnificent beauty, we will prepare napkins of a certain color
  • In our free time from work, we’ll start turning them into rosebuds. Cut each napkin into 4 parts
  • Take one part of the napkin and fold it as shown in the photo. That is, not in half, one third
  • We do the same with the remaining parts. For a rosebud you will need 2 napkins. And again, you can adjust the size of the buds yourself

  • Now we form the bud by twisting. We shape each petal with our fingers, giving the bud a beautiful shape. This is what you should get as a result.

  • We glue the finished rose buds from napkins tightly to the ball.

Topiary for the New Year

Topiary for the New Year should symbolize the solemnity of the event. We have already talked about what topiary is and what are the basic principles of its manufacture.

But what is topiary for the New Year? You guessed it - it’s customary to make wishes on New Year’s Eve. And if you decide to make a New Year’s tree of happiness with your own hands, then you will have every opportunity to securely secure your wish with durable glue.

Before you start making it, you need to decide on its shape. New Year's topiary can have a traditionally round shape, but you can also give it a curly shape, such as a Christmas tree shape.

We will consider the option of topiary made from Christmas balls. You will need to prepare:

  1. Christmas tree balls in silver or golden color (you can combine the colors of the balls)
  2. Foam for base
  3. stick
  4. Potty
  5. Polystyrene foam for ball
  6. New Year's design elements - pine cones, decorative berries and fruits
  • If you have selected a pot for the New Year theme, you can leave it as it is now. In another case, the pot should initially be decorated with satin fabric and secured to the base of the pot with double-sided tape
  • Immediately place foam inside the pot, which will serve as a reliable support for your topiary. Secure the trunk in the middle of the oasis - it can be an ordinary stick wrapped in satin ribbon or a cardboard base made from cling foil or film
  • At this stage, attach the foam to the upper part of the trunk of the tree of happiness, having previously made it into a ball shape. The moment has come when we will form the crown of the tree with our own hands. In our case, these are New Year's toys-balls. Place each individual ball on toothpicks and glue them at the base. Now insert the toothpicks with balls tightly into the crown ball.
  • If you use large balls, then the spaces between them can be filled with small balls and decorated with beads and tinsel
  • To ensure that your design holds up well, we recommend gluing the balls together at the end of the work.

Don't be afraid to use your imagination, add or change elements at your discretion. The main rule is that they match each other in color!
