Hallelujah priest took the internet by storm with his wedding song. Belarusian priest sings Cohen's "Hallelujah" during Mass (video) - Salidarnasts

A County Meath priest has become a YouTube sensation after a video of him singing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah went viral. Priest Ray Kelly's surprise at a couple's wedding in his Old Castle parish has already been watched by more than 3 million YouTube visitors since it was uploaded.

In the wedding video you can see how surprised and shocked the newlyweds are, and along with them the guests of the wedding ceremony.

“The parishioners know that I sing at weddings, but Leah and Chris are not from the parish. “The priest recalls, “I told them at rehearsal that I planned to sing for them, but I think they were a little puzzled by how it turned out.”

Father Ray Kelly brought bride Leah and groom Chris O'Kane to tears with his performance and has since been inundated with similar requests from other couples.

The singing priest is now trying to combine the role of a priest and his new role. “I've done five or six radio appearances so far, and there was a funeral this morning. I have no problem coping with the increased attention.”

Father Ray Kelly:
“I love singing and I love everything that comes with it. I even went to America and did a show there. I’ve never dealt with anything like this before, but I can handle it.”

Now he plans to release a benefit album to commemorate his 25 years of service to the church.

The Irish know how to not only sing at wedding ceremonies, but also dance. This can be seen from the performance of Irish dance at a wedding in Northern Ireland.

Hallelujah
translation of the song from Denis Orlov

I heard that secret chord
David played and God listened,
But music doesn't bother you anymore?

It happens,
That rhythm and beat
The minor has died down, the major has risen,
The king says a prayer

Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

You believed strongly, but you wanted
See,
From the roof you looked -
She was swimming
Enchanting with beauty.

Shattered your world
O king,
She cut her hair with a prayer
From your lips I sculpted
Hallelujah...

Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

And maybe I've already been here
The room is familiar, I lived
All alone until I meet you.
I saw your flag above the arch
Love is not a victorious step,
A - cold, and fragments

Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

You said it is there
In reality, it was given to us by fate,
Now you're hiding the truth
When I lived with you, it happened
Holy darkness covered us,
And every breath we take is like hallelujah...

Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

And yet there is a God in the world,
And love taught us
Kill the one who draws your world.
Don't you hear crying at night,
The one who saw the light there,
And - cold, and fragments... Hallelujah...

Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

The Irish know how to not only sing at wedding ceremonies, but also dance. You can see this by watching a video about an Irish dance performed at a wedding in Northern Ireland -

The rector of the Roman Catholic parish of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Slonim (Grodno region), Father Igor Anisimov, sang the famous song “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen in Russian for the newlyweds during the wedding.

Recall that a Catholic priest from Ireland recently became a YouTube celebrity after he sang “Hallelujah” at the wedding of a couple in his parish and received tens of millions of views.

As with the Irish newlyweds, the Belarusian couple and parishioners were shocked by the surprise. At the end of the song, the bride even cried, and the whole church applauded.

Father Igor is away now, but katolik-gomel.by managed to talk with parishioner from Lida Veronica Vaichik, who knows the “singing priest” well. It was she who posted a video of his song on the Internet, moreover, it was Veronica who advised Father Igor to sing at the wedding.

“He wanted to give some special gift to this couple, and then I showed a video of an Irish priest. There were lyrics to the song in Russian, Father Igor corrected it a little. And at the wedding on June 7, at the end of the service, he suddenly began to sing. Everyone was shocked! – says Veronica.

After this incident, rumors about an unusual wedding began to circulate around Slonim, and other couples were already waiting for the same gift. In order not to deceive their expectations, Father Igor began to sing again. Now it has become a tradition.

– I heard that there is a lot of talk about this in the city. After that, even many non-believers became interested in the church,” continues Veronica.

This year Father Igor turns 40 years old, and he has been developing his singing talent since his youth. While studying at the Grodno Higher Theological Seminary, he sang as part of the group “Ave”.

– I really appreciate and respect Father Igor, he himself is a very modest but talented person. He has a difficult path in the priesthood, sometimes it is very difficult, people like him need to be supported! - says the parishioner.

Father Igor, originally from Magnitogorsk (Russia), after his ordination in 2001, served in Lida and the rural parish of the Grodno diocese, and is now rector of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Slonim.
