How to make a flower hat from ribbons. How to decorate a knitted hat with your own hands: various decoration options. We need it for work

With the onset of the cold season, all women and girls take cozy knitted hats out of their closets and put them on. However, warmth is not everything. When putting on a hat, you want to look beautiful and stylish. There are many different options for decorating a knitted hat with your own hands. With the help of available materials, a simple and boring thing is transformed into a real work of art.

To decorate a headdress, a variety of materials are used that are available at home or sold in stores. To create a unique hat you will need:

  • pebbles or rhinestones;
  • beads and beads;
  • sequins;
  • metal rivets and chains;
  • multi-colored threads of different varieties;
  • pieces of fur and leather;
  • scraps of thick fabric or felt;
  • braid, including beaded and fringed;
  • veil;
  • lace.

The work will also require tools: scissors, needles, crochet hooks, glue.

Stones and metal decor

It is very easy to decorate a knitted hat with multi-colored stones and rhinestones. They can be purchased in specialized stores or removed from items that are no longer in use.

A pattern is laid out from such elements and caps are glued to the knitwear. You can decorate your hat with rhinestones by gluing them onto thick felt or drape and sewing the fabric to the product. The color of the fabric base can match or be contrasting with the color of the headdress.

Those who love metal decoration on clothes can also use it to decorate their headdress. The following will look very original:

  1. Chains, especially those with large links.
  2. Rivets of different shapes.
  3. Zippers with metal teeth.

The advantage of metal decor is that it is very easy to attach to knitwear. You can use pliers to secure chains and rivets. If you don’t have the skill to work with such a tool, it’s easy to sew on decorations with threads.

Pompom decoration

A yarn hat for a child or a young, perky fashionista is decorated with a pompom made of fur or yarn. The decoration can be single and large in size, or you can make several small pompoms and decorate the hat with them. Hats with two pom-poms in the shape of ears look very cute and funny.

You can make a fur pompom as follows:

  1. A circle of the required diameter is cut out of natural or artificial fur.
  2. Gather the edges of the circle with a basting stitch - you will get a blank in the form of a pouch.
  3. Fill the bag with padding polyester and tighten the thread to form a ball.
  4. Sew the finished pompom to the top of the hat or add it with a 10-15 cm long cord so that the decoration hangs freely.

You can make a pom-pom not only from fur; yarn works great here. The technology for manufacturing such an element is not particularly difficult:

You can make many small pompoms of different colors and decorate your beret or hat with them.

Embroidery and appliqués

Decorating with embroidery is a painstaking task. However, an embroidered hat will decorate any woman and girl.

You can create an original model by emphasizing the knitting structure with bright contrasting threads. It is best to decorate hats knitted from thick, bulky yarn in this way. Use a bright thread to embroider the cap in a circle or select a small area on the side surface.

Another option is to embroider a pattern or inscription using beads, beads, sequins or rhinestones. While working, you need to make sure that the fabric of the hat does not tighten, otherwise the finished product will look sloppy. A hat with an applique made of thick fabric, suede or leather will look good on younger girls. From scraps you can assemble an image of an animal or a cartoon character. All parts are sewn or glued to the cap.

Flowers from different materials

Flowers are the most traditional elements for decorating clothing and accessories. They will perfectly complement the fashionable look of both a little girl and an elegant lady. You can make flowers yourself, cut them from other clothes, or purchase ready-made decorative flowers in a store.

Felt rose

When choosing fabric, you need to consider the density of the headdress. If the hat is too light and thin, it is better to decorate it with ribbons and braid. A thick item can be well decorated with flowers made of felt or drape. It is advisable to attach such decorative elements with threads, since glue or silicone may not withstand the weight, and the decoration will simply fall off.

You can make a flower as follows:

The free edge of the flower is sometimes cut out in the shape of petals.

In this manner, you can make a whole bouquet of fleece in different colors. The composition is complemented with carved leaves, beads or satin ribbons.

Crochet

Flowers to decorate a hat or beret are quickly crocheted from yarn. To get a flat flower, use the Irish lace technique. For voluminous decor - knitting with single crochets. In addition to flowers, you can knit other decorations - butterflies, leaves, etc. It is advisable to starch the finished decorations before attaching them to the hat.

Chamomile making technique:

  1. Crochet a chain of 40-50 air loops.
  2. A double crochet is knitted into each loop of the previous row.
  3. In this way, knit 3-4 rows.
  4. Using a basting stitch, tighten the first row and secure the knot - the decoration is ready.

There are also more complex options for making knitted flowers. The sequence of actions in this case will be as follows:

  1. Make a chain of 10 air loops and close it into a ring.
  2. Knit 2 lifting loops.
  3. Knit a row of single crochets so that they fit tightly together.
  4. The next row is knitted with double crochets.
  5. The third row consists of half-columns.

The finished flower is sewn to the hat. You can decorate it with a large bead in the center.

To decorate a headdress using mixed techniques, individual elements of flowers are knitted and joined together on the hat using a needle and thread. An apple tree flower is assembled from 5 round petals. Three parts form a clover leaf. You can embroider stems and leaves using a stem or loop stitch.

Hat with a veil

One of the most original ways to decorate a knitted headdress is a French-style veil. Such decoration will give the item a unique charm and charm. For this type of finishing, it is best to take a hat made of thin black knitwear. Required materials and tools:

  1. A piece of veil measuring approximately 25x60 cm. The color of the fabric should match the color of the hat.
  2. Needle and thread.
  3. Scissors.

Instead of voile fabric, you can use a thin transparent fabric. The manufacturing procedure is as follows:

Lace trim

You can decorate a knitted women's hat even with such, at first glance, inappropriate material as lace. However, with a skillful approach, you can combine the incongruous. Of course, not all lace is suitable for decoration. The following varieties are popular:

  • dense knitted;
  • made in - lace from the same yarn as the hat;
  • lace in a contrasting shade on the lapel;
  • Brazilian-style openwork lace mugs;

You can simply and originally design a thin stocking cap made of dark knitwear. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

other methods

In addition to the most common methods of decoration, there are several simple and original options.

For a child's or teenager's hat, cat ears made of thick felt or drape will serve as a charming decoration. Felt can be chosen to match the product. A pair of ears are cut out of it in the form of triangles of equal size. The parts can be easily glued to the top of the hat using special glue or thread.

The easiest and fastest way to decorate a knitted hat is with a brooch. This decor is a simple and quick alternative to a knitted hat with rhinestones. It is not advisable to attach too expensive jewelry, as there is always a risk that it will fall and be lost. You can make a brooch for a hat with your own hands from beads or seed beads.

It's easy to decorate the hat with an elegant bow. The element can be made from different materials - satin, yarn, felt, etc. A large bow of the same color as the cap is sewn on the back of the product. Such elegant decor will add femininity and charm to any item.

An original decoration will be a tassel made of fringe or yarn to match the product.

There are a huge number of ways to decorate a headdress - it all depends on imagination and skill. With the help of simple improvised means, you can turn an ordinary item into an exquisite and unusual accessory.

Perhaps, after reading this text, you will come up with your own completely original hat decor.

How to decorate a knitted hat with your own hands with large rhinestones

A simple plain beanie hat is transformed into a chic and somewhat shocking accessory with the help of large multi-colored rhinestones of interesting shapes, which are sewn onto the elastic band of the hat in any order. You won't want to take off this hat even indoors!

You can use large rhinestones to make a pattern or symbol, or sew several repeating motifs onto a hat:

A plain hat decorated with metal decorative elements will look very stylish.

An applique of rhinestones made on felt using a glue gun will look original on a hat.

A pompom is a completely traditional decoration for a winter hat. And two pom-poms are already more unusual and stylish; the image of a girl in such a hat immediately becomes daring, youthful and frivolous.

If someone did not learn how to make pom-poms during labor lessons at school, we suggest mastering this simple technology with the help of a step-by-step master class with photos.

  1. First, we cut out 2 round blanks of the same size from cardboard with a hole in the center with a diameter of no more than 5 cm. We determine the diameter of the blank according to the size of the pompom we want to get.
  2. We wrap the folded pieces together with thread of the desired color and thickness. We wind so many layers so that the hole in the blanks is almost completely closed.
  3. Cut the wound threads.
  4. Tie the pompom tightly in the center with thread.
  5. We remove the blanks, cut off the protruding threads, and give the pompom a round shape. Ready!

And this photo shows how you can make small pompoms using a fork:

A hat decorated with small multi-colored pompoms will look very cute!

And with one big pompom - very bohemian:

Fur pompoms, one or more, decorate a hat very nicely:

Decorating the hat with a veil:
  1. The idea of decorating warm hats with a veil belongs to the famous designer Jill Zander. The combination of seemingly incompatible things - thick knitwear and airy lace, immediately became a trend, because unusual combinations always attract the most attention. Such an interesting accessory will help you create an original modern look that combines romance and elegance. How you can decorate a knitted hat with a veil with your own hands is described in a simple and accessible master class.
  2. It is better to choose the same color as the cap for the veil; you will need a piece measuring 25x60 cm.
  3. We lay out the veil on a horizontal surface, placing the figured edge along the bottom edge of the hat. We attach the hat to the veil so that its upper part protrudes 2-3 cm above the veil section.
  4. We sew the ends of the veil together, the seam will be located at the back.
  5. It only takes a few stitches to attach the veil to the hat. We start sewing from the back - we grab the edge of the veil to the hat fabric with one stitch, bend the veil
  6. We secure the veil to the front center of the hat with a couple of stitches and the elegant hat with veil is ready.

This option for decorating a hat is a continuation of the theme of a successful combination of incongruous things.

You will need a black cap, a small piece of black lace, scissors and a needle and thread.

From the edge of the cap, cut a small triangle that will be filled with lace. Determine for yourself the place where the insert will look best:

Cut several pieces from the lace, repeating the shape of the piece cut from the hat, but slightly larger. They will need to be folded together to make the insert tighter.

Now place the lace insert between the layers of the cap (such knitted caps are usually double-layered) and sew along the edge.

This type of decoration can be done with a chain, rivets and special pliers. Everything is done very easily and in a matter of minutes - the chain is attached to the hat using rivets, the process is shown in the photo:

Felt ears.

For the youngest and most cheerful ones, another decor option is felt cat ears.

For it you will need: felt in the color of the hat, scissors and fabric glue.

A pair of ears is cut out of felt - to do this, the felt is folded into a corner, you need to cut off two corners of equal size. The size of the “ears” must be determined based on the size of the cap. Next, the “ears” are glued along the cutting line.

You can also attach the ears to the hat using glue or by carefully sewing them on.

And, finally, a selection of videos with various decoration options for knitted hats.

Knitted hats are always in fashion. They come in a wide variety of styles and designs. But even the most beautiful and fashionable hat may require updating. A small detail will allow you to add some “zest” or completely transform the style. You can decorate a women's knitted hat with your own hands. The ideas below will help.

How to decorate a women's knitted hat:

Flowers

Fur or pieces of mink fur

This decoration has been at the peak of popularity for several years now. And the mink looks beautiful. Pieces of mink fur can make wonderful ears. This idea is suitable for young girls. To do this, a pattern is formed from cardboard and 4 blanks with a piece of fur. The blanks are sewn in pairs, except for the bottom. The frame will be a pre-prepared wire, which is twisted into a triangle shape and inserted into the workpieces. The finished ears are sewn to the hat. You can also cut out shapes from fur and sew them to the material or create a fur pompom.

Beads, seed beads or pearls

Such decorations are ready to make the hat more elegant and respectable. Elements can be used individually or create an unusual mix. So, beads can be sewn on with threads if there are holes. They do the same with beads, but it’s important to immediately think through the design. It is better to use pearls in halves and place them on glue. It is important not to overdo it with decorative elements so that the hat does not look funny. It is worth adding that when creating a design from sewn and glued elements, you need to use a 3-liter jar as a base. And it is in this position that it is better for the hat to dry. Waiting time – 2-3 hours.

Ribbons

You can use beaded ribbons. It is better to place such a braid along the edge of the product and carefully glue it. Also, a simple satin ribbon can become the basis for creating flowers or bows.

Rhinestones

Shimmering crystals will add special idleness even to a dull winter day. To implement the idea, you need to prepare a hat. It is better to take a plain one, since on such a canvas the rhinestones will look brighter and attract attention. Decorative elements can be used in the color of the hat or in contrasting colors. Focusing on the latter, you need to choose well-combined colors. You can also take white ones. This option is considered universal and will suit a hat of any color. Hot melt adhesive is used as fastening material. Main stages of work:

  • First lay out the pattern on the hat;
  • Glue the back side of the rhinestones, pressing well to the material;
  • Leave the hat for a couple of hours until completely dry.

Pompoms

A pompom goes well with a knitted hat. To create it, you need 2 identical pieces of cardboard - from 3 to 10 cm. Then we do the following:

  1. Put the pieces together;
  2. Draw two circles and form a ring;
  3. We tie a ball to the cut out ring and wrap it tightly with threads around the circumference;
  4. When finishing the row, leave a long tail and cut it off at a distance of 10-12 cm;
  5. We put the needle on the thread and pass it through the wound strips;
  6. Pull tightly and cut along the outer edge;
  7. We remove the cardboard and sew the finished pompom to the hat.

How else can you beautifully decorate a woman’s hat?

In addition to the design elements described above, the following can be an unusual decoration for a knitted hat:

Pieces of felt laid out in an intricate appliqué;

  • Elements embroidered with threads;
  • Pieces of multi-colored leather;
  • Remains of yarn of different shades;
  • Chains;
  • Buttons;
  • Decorative elements made of tulle.

How to decorate the top of a knitted hat with your own hands?

The main decoration for the top of the head will be a pompom made of yarn or fur. But, you can use pre-prepared crocheted flounces. They will look good gathered into a sophisticated ribbon. The ears and bow look beautiful, but they are more suitable for young girls. Among the fresh ideas, we can highlight the tying of the edges of the hat. Skilled needlewomen can do this using knitting needles or a crochet hook.

For those who also share my passion.

I present to your attention a two-tier kanzashi decoration made in burgundy and beige colors. This decoration can be pinned on a hat or used to decorate a dress in the form of a brooch. You can also attach it to a hairband or a hair clip, and you are guaranteed a stunning hairstyle for the whole day!

Craft materials:

1. satin fabric or satin ribbon 5 cm in rich burgundy color;
2. satin fabric in a warm beige shade (you will need pieces of 6x6 cm and 2.5x2.5 cm);
3. red felt;
4. 10 white beads and one larger golden bead or a finished center;
5. candle and lighter;
6. scissors;
7. ruler;
8. pen or pencil;
9. “Dragon” glue or hot glue;
10. tweezers;
11. monofilament.

Work process

Step 1: Cut out the felt base

Take a piece of felt measuring 5x5 cm. Carefully cut a circle out of it.

Step 2: making petals for the lower tier

For the bottom tier we will need 9 pieces of satin fabric in a warm beige shade measuring 6x6 cm.

So, take one of the pieces and fold it in half diagonally. Then fold it in half again, also diagonally.

Take the folded fabric by the two opposite bottom corners and fold them together, corners up. We hold the craft with our left hand. With our right hand, we fold the lower protruding fabric and push it between the lower folded corners.

We should get a petal like this. Grab the petal with tweezers. Using scissors, trim off excess fabric and protruding threads.

We hold the cut edge over the candle and immediately grab it with our fingers or tweezers so that all the melted parts of the petal stick to each other.

Using scissors, we cut off the lower sloppy edge and also melt it over the candle. Use your fingers to press down the melted edges.

Working in this pattern, we make 9 neat identical petals.

Step 3: Glue the petals onto the felt base

We take one of the petals and a pre-prepared felt base. Apply hot glue or dragon glue to the bottom front of the petal and attach it to the base.

Then carefully glue all the remaining petals onto the felt, applying glue to the bottom and sides of the petals. We should have a base like this.

Step 4: making large petals for the upper tier

To make large petals of the upper tier, we will need pieces of burgundy satin fabric measuring 5x5 cm, in the amount of 8 pieces.

Take one of the leaves and fold it in half diagonally. Then we fold the left edge down along the center line, and we also fold the right edge down along the center line.

We take the petal with our fingers and fold its left and right parts down. We should get this simple round petal.

Using tweezers, grab the petal by its front part. Using scissors, trim off excess fabric and loose threads. We melt this part over the candle and immediately press it with tweezers.

Then we cut off the excess fabric from the bottom of the petal and melt it over the fire. We grab the melted edges with tweezers and squeeze them.

Working in this pattern, we make 8 neat round petals.

Step 5: make small round petals

To make small petals, take pieces of satin fabric or beige ribbon measuring 2.5x2.5 cm.

Small petals are made in the same way as the previous burgundy petals: take a square and fold it in half diagonally. We apply the side corners to the middle. Fold the side parts of the petal down and form a round petal. Take the petal with tweezers. Using scissors, we trim off the excess fabric from the front and bottom, and melt the candles over the fire. Use tweezers to pat down the melted edges.

In total, for the craft you will need 16 round small petals of a beige shade.

Step 6: making the top tier

Cut out a circle with a diameter of 3 cm from burgundy satin fabric.

We glue 8 burgundy petals onto this circle, forming a cute flower.

Using tweezers, take one of the small beige petals. Then take “Dragon” or “Crystal” glue (hot glue will not work here). Apply a dot of glue to the leading edge of the small beige petal. Carefully, holding the petal with tweezers, insert the small petal into the right fold of the large burgundy petal.

Take the next small petal. Apply a drop of glue to its front part and insert it into the left fold of the burgundy petal.

Working according to this scheme, we insert 16 small beige petals into the folds of a burgundy flower, 2 small petals into one large one.

Step 7: collect the flower

Apply Dragon glue or hot glue to the bottom of the top tier. Carefully glue the top part onto the bottom tier.

Glue a center of a matching color inside the flower. You can take a ready-made center, or you can make it yourself. I made the middle from white large beads and a golden decorative element.

Our kanzashi decoration in burgundy and beige tones is ready!

Good luck to everyone, and have a good mood!

A knitted hat is in almost every wardrobe. However, not everyone likes to wear it - knitted headdresses without any decorations look somewhat rustic. But you can turn even the simplest beret into an attractive, even vintage item, if you put in a little effort. How to decorate a knitted hat with your own hands? There are many ways, and new ones are constantly appearing. We will now talk about some simple options.

Caps, stockings, berets

Among knitted patterns, the following are especially popular:

  • stocking cap:
  • hat with a lapel;
  • beret;
  • cap;
  • hat;
  • earflaps.

Any of them will look original if you come up with an interesting decoration for a knitted hat and make it well. But it is necessary to take into account the type of mating:

  • very large;
  • large;
  • small manual;
  • small machine.

Important! Products knitted with very large knitting, as a rule, do not need additional decoration - well, except that you can attach a pom-pom, tassel or ears to a hat with a lapel, and “scatter” sequins or beads on a mohair beret. Large knitting in itself can be very decorative.

The greatest chance to show your creativity is provided by products made with fine hand or machine knitting. Here everything is permissible.

Let's talk about materials

If you are puzzled by the question of how to decorate a hat, the first thing to do is look in your craft box. Maybe there is:

  • leftover yarn of different colors;
  • pieces of fleece or other soft fabrics;
  • pieces of fur;
  • rhinestones;
  • chains;
  • veil or tulle;
  • pieces of leather;
  • beads;
  • beads.

In addition, you will need some additional materials and the most common tools:

  • cardboard;
  • embroidery needles;
  • scissors – manicure and sewing;
  • blade;
  • compass;
  • glue for rhinestones;
  • leather glue;
  • leather paints.

Let's start with pompoms

The easiest way to decorate a knitted hat with your own hands is to sew a pompom onto it. This option is suitable for almost any hat - except that a pompom on a hat will look a little strange.

You can make one large fluffy ball and attach it to the top of your head, or you can make several small ones. They are attached with lacing (can be from the same threads) to different parts of the hat:

  • a bun on the top of the head;
  • two buns in the style of a jester's hat;
  • one at a time in random order.

Making a pompom

First, in any case, you need to make the pompom itself. To do this, take two identical pieces of cardboard. For a large pompom, pieces of approximately 10x10 cm are suitable, for small ones - at your discretion, but not less than 3x3 cm, otherwise it will simply be inconvenient to work with them. Further:

  1. Place the pieces of cardboard together.
  2. Draw the largest circle you can.
  3. From the same center, draw another, smaller circle (for example, if the large diameter is 10 cm, then the small one is 6 cm).
  4. Cut out the ring.
  5. Tie a ball to the ring - it should be of such a size that it fits freely into the hole.
  6. Wrap the ring with threads, placing the turns close to each other.
  7. When the row ends, break the thread, but so that a tail 10-12 cm long remains.
  8. Thread the tail through a needle with a large eye.
  9. Pass the needle under the turns in a small circle, pulling slightly.
  10. Cut the coils along a large circle.
  11. Pull the thread running in a small circle and tie it tightly.
  12. Sew a large pompom to the hat with threads to match the product.

If you have small pompoms, you can tie laces to them. These are just chains of air loops. There is nothing stopping you from weaving them in the form of ordinary three-strand braids, or using ready-made braid that matches the color.

Important! The pompom can be either plain or variegated. In the second case, apply layers to half the ring, break the thread, tie another ball and continue the process.

Tassels

Also a simple but effective way to make decorations for knitted hats with your own hands. The tassel is made even simpler than a pompom. The most important thing is that the edge is smooth, so you need to do this:

  1. Take a small strip of cardboard (for example, 3x5 cm).
  2. Wrap it with thread so that the turns lie lengthwise and tightly enough.
  3. Make 2-3 layers of turns.
  4. Using a needle and thread threaded through it, grab the bundle along one of the short sides of the strip and pull it well.
  5. Cut the turns along the second short side of the strip.
  6. After this, all you have to do is sew the tassel to the lace, which is made in exactly the same way as for a pompom - or you can use a ready-made one, made of fabric or leather.

Sew on the chain

An interesting option for decorating a hat with your own hands is a metal chain.

Important! This method is suitable for decorating a cap with a band, a hat or a hat with a lapel.

In this case, the chain should not cover the entire head. It can be only in front, only on the side, or located in fragments around the entire circumference. To make this decoration for a knitted hat with your own hands:

  1. Arrange the chain fragments as they will lie.
  2. Mark where the starting and ending links of each piece will be.
  3. Sew short pieces onto the first and last links.
  4. If the chain is long, it needs to be grabbed in several more places.

Important! Between the fragments you can sew matching beads or knitted buttons. A chain around the lapel or band does not at all interfere with a stylish pom-pom or a flirty button on the top of the head.

How to decorate a hat with rhinestones?

You can decorate any type of hat with rhinestones - crystals that imitate precious stones. You can buy them at a sewing store. They will also sell you glue and hoops, which will be very convenient in this case.

Important! In fact, in the store you can find rhinestones with and without an adhesive layer. The first option for decorating knitted items is not very suitable, since not every knitted item tolerates heat well. However, this option is also suitable for small machine knitted items. In other cases, it is better to use special glue.

Before decorating your hat with stones, select the appropriate glue. Not suitable:

  • compositions containing acetone;
  • silicones with acetic acid;
  • acrylic dispersions.

Important! Such glues do not hold rhinestones very well, and besides, they spoil their appearance.

Having selected the appropriate glue, get down to business:

  1. Come up with an ornament - it can be floral, geometric, or simply alternating stones of different types.
  2. Draw the ornament on a life-size sheet - you can simply mark the places where the rhinestones will be.
  3. Transfer the design to the hat - a pencil doesn’t fit very well on knitwear, so baste the sheet with the design, and then use a needle and thread of a contrasting color to mark the places.
  4. Thread the jersey into the hoop, pulling it slightly so that the area for the rhinestones is even, but the hat does not lose its shape.
  5. Glue the rhinestones according to the instructions on the glue package.

Important! The pattern can only be made from stones. But artificial crystals also go well with embroidery or appliqué.

Decorate the hat with ears

Ears - cat, bunny, squirrel, fox - look great on a child's or youth's hat with a lapel. They are made very simply. They can be:

  • knit from yarn of the same quality;
  • sew from fur.

In addition to the main material, you will need:

  • pieces of wire;
  • thread and needle;
  • cardboard;
  • ruler;
  • ball pen;
  • chalk or soap.

Option 1

Fox or cat ears are simply triangles of fur that match the color. We arrange them according to this scheme:

  1. Make a pattern out of cardboard, for example, an equilateral triangle with a side of 6-8 cm.
  2. Using this triangle, cut out 4 blanks of fur - there is no need to leave allowances, you can sew them together on the front side with an “over the edge” seam.
  3. Sew the pieces in pairs, leaving one edge open.
  4. Bend 2 triangles from the wire along a cardboard pattern.
  5. Insert the frames into your ears.
  6. Sew the ears to the hat.

Option 2

Triangles can also be knitted. It is best to make them from the same wool as the hat itself. It is more convenient to crochet:

  1. Knit a chain of 20 chain stitches.
  2. Make a row of single crochets in each stitch of the chain.
  3. Starting from the second row, do not finish 2 stitches in each row.
  4. Knit until one loop remains, tighten it and break the thread.
  5. Knit the second triangle.
  6. Fold the parts, tie them around the perimeter with half-columns or single crochets.
  7. Inside, as in the first case, you can insert a frame.

Option 3

The ears of a bear, mouse or Cheburashka are simply circles of the appropriate size. They can be sewn or crocheted, but the frame does not need to be inserted inside.

Application

The applique looks great on a knitted hat. It can be:

  • flower arrangements;
  • fantasy patterns;
  • animal faces.

Important! The elements can be knitted from leftover yarn, but pieces of fabric that matches the texture - for example, fleece or thin cloth - will also work. If you are making an ornament with repeating elements, it is better to first make a pattern, according to which you can cut out all the identical fragments.

Cat, fox or bunny

The animal's face consists of several elements. Need to do:

  • eyes;
  • irises;
  • pupils;
  • mustache pads;

Important! You can get by with a completely stylized version - sew on only the eyes. It is best to find a suitable stylized image of the animal's face and take the shape of the eyes from there.

Decorating a children's knitted hat:

  1. Cut out the eyes from white fleece or cloth.
  2. Cut out the irises - these are simply circles of green, bright yellow, blue or brown.
  3. Cut out the pupils - black circles or stripes (for a fox, for example).
  4. If you are making a nose, cut out a triangle in black, brown or pink.
  5. The whisker pads are circles, and the mouth is an obtuse triangle of red or pink color.
  6. Mark the places where you will sew the details of the muzzle - the eyes should be approximately at the same level.
  7. Sew the iris and pupil together using black thread.
  8. Sew the outline of the eye and the iris with threads in the color of the iris.
  9. Baste the eyes to the hat.
  10. Sew them together with black thread using an over-the-edge stitch, placing the stitches as close together as possible.
  11. Sew the mustache pads with threads to match the details, and the mouth with red threads.

Hat with a veil

Ten years ago, no one would have thought of this. A knitted hat with a veil? But now is the time when you can decorate both a knitted hat with a brim and a hat with a lapel.

You will need:

  • finished veil or piece of transparent fabric 25x60 cm;
  • threads to match the hat and veil;
  • needle.

Important! For such work, it is preferable, of course, to use a ready-made veil, but in general, any transparent fabric that allows air to pass through well will do. The veil can cover only the face or be located around the entire circumference.

Option 1

Simply sew the finished veil along the top edge using a basting stitch using small stitches:

  1. Gather lightly.
  2. Baste to the hat from the wrong side.
  3. Try on and arrange the gathers to make them look beautiful.
  4. Sew the veil with threads that match the color of the hat, the cut should be at the back - it can be sewn up or left as is.

Option 2

If you just have fabric, cut out a rectangle of the desired size from it:

  1. Determine which side will be sewn to the hat.
  2. Make a basting stitch and gathers.
  3. Sew the piece.

Important! You can decorate the veil, for example, with beads or embroidery, but try not to overload it with decorative elements.

Roses and daisies

A flower is a popular decoration for a knitted hat. It can be embroidered, made using the applique technique, but it can be done separately and sewn on.

Option 1

It’s very easy to make a flower if you know how to crochet at least a little:

  1. Knit a chain of 40-50 chain stitches.
  2. Make 3-4 rows of double crochets in each column of the previous row, at the end of the last one - break the thread.
  3. Along the row from which you started (that is, along the air chain), lay a basting stitch with the same threads, tighten and secure the knot - the flower is ready.

Option 2:

  1. Knit a chain of 10 loops and close it into a ring.
  2. Make 2 lifting loops.
  3. Knit a row of stitches into a ring so that they fit snugly against each other.
  4. Work a row of double crochets into the stitches of the previous row.
  5. Knit a row of half-stitches.
  6. Sew the flower to the hat.
  7. You can sew a bead into the middle.

Option 3

You can connect elements of colors and then make a pattern out of them. For example, an apple tree flower is five small circles, a clover leaf consists of three circles, a chamomile is a stripe (air chain), etc.

Important! You can use a mixed technique - knit and sew the petals, and embroider the stems using a loop or stem stitch.

Option 4

How to decorate a knitted hat with your own hands? It’s great if you have pieces of fleece, felt or cloth - in general, any material whose edges do not fray and which holds its shape well.

Important! A suitable picture can be found in any book on satin stitch embroidery or applique. It is better, of course, to transfer the design onto fabric using carbon paper (sold in sewing stores), but it is also possible by spraying.

The operating procedure is as follows:

  1. First assemble a complex flower from several parts into one blank.
  2. Sew it to the hat.
  3. Sew additional decorative elements (for example, beads or pieces of leather).
  4. Embroider the remaining elements - tendrils or stems.

What else can you think of?

Decorating a hat with beads is quite simple. You need to select beads of a suitable shape and size (made of natural stones, plastic or wood) and sew them firmly with matching threads. In this case, you can create an ornament, or you can arrange them in any order.

Lace

Knitted hat - and lace? Why not? Of course, synthetic white lace, such as is sewn onto nightgowns, will not work in this case. And here:

  • Knitted or made using the tatting technique from the same wool - very good.
  • A contrasting lace stripe on the brim of a cap or the lapel of a hat will look impressive.
  • Are you convinced that decorating a knitted hat with your own hands is very simple, there are countless ideas? Now it's time to act! Go through all the ideas again, relate them to what skills you have and what style you prefer to dress in, and then it’s a matter of technique. Good luck!
