Schemes for weaving baubles from threads. Basic thread weaving knots. Straight weaving from floss threads

Weaving baubles is a very exciting activity that both adults and children will enjoy. They can be woven from different materials, the most accessible of which is thread. There are enough of them in every home to create several products.

Materials

What threads are baubles made from? From any! These can be threads for knitting, embroidery (floss) or simply sewing threads, folded several times. In addition, you can use thin laces, satin ribbons, synthetic fibers for stitching dolls, or elongated strips of plastic bags.

The easiest way to weave baubles is from floss threads. As everyone knows, they are quite smooth and consist of several untwisted threads, which contributes to the formation of neat knots, since the threads are evenly distributed over its entire area. In addition, they are quite thick and durable, which allows them to be used without additional folding, and also have a wide palette and low price.

Types of woven bracelets

Baubles can be classified according to several parameters.

By degree of difficulty:

  • simple;
  • medium difficulty;
  • complex.

By volume there are:

  • flat;
  • rope-shaped.

Depending on the number of threads used, baubles can consist of:

  • 2 threads;
  • 3 threads;
  • 4 threads, etc.

The more threads in the weave, the wider the finished product will be.

By purpose:

  • decorative;
  • protective;
  • souvenirs

2 strand bracelets

Weaving baubles from 2 threads of floss, as in the photo, is very simple. The technique involves tying a working thread around a warp thread. To do this you will need 1 meter of thread of any color. It can be folded, the main thread should be equal to the circumference of the wrist plus a few centimeters for fastening. Before starting work, tie a knot on the thread where it is folded to form a small loop. If you make a tightening fastener, then the thread needs to be cut into 2 parts. The main thread should be equal to 3 wrist circumferences. You need to tie knots or secure beads at its ends. Fold the main thread into a double ring so that the ends touch each other.

In the place where there are 2 threads, start tying knots with the second thread. To get a beautiful spiral, the main thread should be taut and straight, and the working thread will braid it, as shown in the photo.

Another type of bracelets for beginners. Weaving baubles from threads, as in the photo below, is very simple. To do this, you need to make knots alternately with both the working and the main thread.

In this case, the working and main threads must be the same length.

3-strand cord bracelet

Baubles made from 3 threads look interesting. Weave them, as shown above, according to the same principle as from 2 threads, but the knots alternate on the right and left. The result is a narrow flat bracelet. If you make not one, but two knots with each thread, and also use threads of different colors, you will get a bauble like the one in the photo below.

Bauble "Braid" made of 3 threads

A very simple bracelet can be made using a simple braiding technique. Both adults and children can weave baubles from threads in this way. By using 3 threads of different colors, you can create a unique piece of jewelry in just a few minutes.

Bracelet-cord made of 4 threads

You can weave baubles from floss in 4 threads, as well as from three, tying knots alternately with the left and right working thread. However, in this case there will be two warp threads, which increases the width of the bracelet.

Another original bracelet will be a bauble in the form of a cord. You can weave it using a round cardboard blank. Notches are made on it. The threads are arranged crosswise, then the threads are alternately thrown from top to bottom, from left to right, from bottom to top, from right to left.

The second method is nodular. All threads from the edge are tied into one knot, then each thread is tied to the adjacent one clockwise by one or 2 knots. You need to move in a spiral until the desired length is woven. In the process of making this bracelet, you can weave beads or bells into the structure of the cord.

Bauble "Braid" made of 4 threads

Braid bracelets made of 4 threads look unusual. Unlike classic braids, the weave is more dense and interesting.

The technique of weaving such baubles is simple and consists in shifting the outer threads to the center on the opposite half.

Let's say the bauble will consist of threads 1, 2, 3, 4. They need to be tied, forming a loop on top, and then distribute the threads on the plane and start weaving. Place thread 1 between threads 2 and 3, place thread 4 between 2 and 1. Thread 2 between 1 and 3, thread 3 between 4 and 1. Weave a bauble with threads according to the pattern until its length is equal to the circumference of the wrist. Tie all the threads into one knot, put on the bead and tie again, carefully trim the excess threads.

Bracelets with 5 or more threads

Another type of thread baubles that everyone loves is flat knotted ones. Depending on the number of threads, the width of the product will vary. To make it easier to weave baubles, all the threads are collected in a bundle and tied in a common knot. This makes it possible to work freely with the threads without fear that one of them will stretch out. However, if the bauble has a complex pattern, then it is better to use double-sided tape. It must be attached to the edge of the table, in which case the threads can be distributed on it in the desired order, and the tabletop will not interfere with tying knots. It is also convenient to use tape to fix the finished parts of the bracelet in order to straighten and check the correct execution according to the diagram.

Forward and reverse knot technique

Since it is impossible to weave baubles from threads without properly tying knots, it is better to practice on 2 threads before starting work.

In order for the bauble to have a neat appearance, all the knots should look the same, regardless of which way they were knitted. In fact, 3 types of nodes are used.

To tie a knot and move the thread from left to right, you need to cross the threads so that the left one is on top of the right one, then take it behind the thread and thread it into the resulting loop. Bring the left thread up, while the right one needs to be pulled tight. The thread that was less tense forms the knot itself. The next step is almost the same as the previous one. Lower the top thread, placing it on the left, cross it with the right one, take it by the thread, thread it through the loop and pull it out. Here the left thread must be pulled to the right, and the right thread to the left. This will move the left thread to the right, and the knot will be neat.

If it is necessary to tie a knot when moving from left to right, the same actions are performed, only in a mirror image.

Some designs require the threads to remain in place (pivot knots). In these cases, at the first stage, the knot is tied depending on the location of the thread whose color matches the color of the knot, and at the second stage - depending on where the thread should end up.

For example, there are 2 threads, the left one is red, and the right one is green. It is necessary to tie a red knot, maintaining the original arrangement of the threads.

First stage. Cross the red thread with the green one, take it behind the thread and thread it through the loop, bringing it to the top.

Second phase. Lower the red thread not to the left, as in the first version of the knot, but to the right of the red thread (as in the second), also cross from right to left, bring it under the green thread, thread it through the loop and pull to the right. This way you will get a red knot, but the threads will remain in place.

Bracelets with ornaments

This is the simplest and most common way to weave these bracelets. These can be diagonal, parallel lines, angles, diamonds, etc. Before starting work, you need to select a sketch or draw it yourself. To do this, you can use a simple checkered sheet or this blank.

The “Grid” blank is convenient to use when weaving complex patterns from the center. "Honeycombs" are ideal for straight weaving from one edge or with a snake. To quickly build a diagram yourself, you can open this image in a standard drawing program and fill the cells with the desired colors. It is worth remembering that 5 threads make 4 knots in a row, that is, there is always one less. Therefore, above the grids there is a strip for distributing threads by color, the number of divisions of which is 1 more than the grid cells in the row.

You can weave baubles from threads, as shown in the figure, by weaving from one edge. To do this, you need to take several threads of different colors, arrange them in some order, and then start weaving. It is necessary to knit knots with the thread shifted to the right until the first thread becomes the last. This way all the knots in the row will be the same color. Knit the next row in the same way as the previous one. In such a bracelet, the colors of the horizontal rows will correspond to the original arrangement of the threads.

The second option is a bauble with vertical stripes. In this case, when knitting knots, the threads do not need to be swapped; they should remain in their places. This bracelet can be knitted either from one edge or with a snake.

Another option is knitting from the center. Weaving baubles from floss threads according to the pattern presented below is quite convenient. The threads are divided into 2 parts, the colors are usually mirrored. A central knot is tied, the following knots are knitted along the arrows with threads of the same color on adjacent threads to the edge. This way the central threads will become external. The next row can also be knitted from the center to the edges, then you will get corners of different colors, or you can not touch the threads that have already tied the knots, and then return to the center, using the colors in the reverse order. In this case, you will get diamonds.

When the basic types of knots are mastered and the principle of moving flowers becomes clear, it will be possible to begin more complex motifs.

Baubles with names

How to weave baubles with names from threads? Not very simple, but undoubtedly interesting. They are also called friendship bracelets and are given to dear people. To make such a bauble, you need to make a model in a “honeycomb” blank, since the weaving will be based on the “snake” principle. Next, decide on the color. To begin with, it is better to use threads of two contrasting colors. The outer threads should be the same color as the background, approximately 1.5 meters each. The rest are about 80 cm and the color of the letters.

Knit all odd rows of the background with the working thread shifted to the right, even rows - to the left. The letter knots must be knitted in the opposite direction. That is, if the background in this row is knitted from right to left, then the letter nodes will be offset to the right.

How to weave baubles from threads is shown step by step in the following video.

Protective ornaments on bracelets

In addition to decorative and souvenir baubles, protective bracelets have also been gaining popularity lately. It is easy to weave the corresponding Slavic or Celtic symbols into their structure.

The most popular among them:

  • dot - rock;
  • inverted triangle - Makosh (goddess of fate);
  • straight or diagonal cross - fire;
  • rhombus - earth;
  • zigzag - wind;
  • Y - Chara, inverted Y - Lyubchik;
  • _F - Slavets and many others.

It is necessary to weave protective bracelets with a clear mind and bright thoughts; you must not interrupt so as not to disturb the energy weaving. It is better to choose white and red colors for Slavic amulets, for Celtic ones - depending on the sign of a particular element.

Fastening

Before weaving baubles from threads, you need to decide what the fastening will be like. This is one of the most important stages of bracelet weaving. It can be done in several ways.

  1. Double ring. This type of fastening is suitable for those types of bracelets where there are 1 or 2 main threads on which the working thread is tied. It is convenient because it allows you to adjust the bracelet to any size without tying it with a strong knot. Due to this, such a bauble can be easily removed from your hand. More details about this mount are described above.
  2. A loop. Before weaving begins, the threads are tied into a knot, forming a loop. It can also be formed during the actual weaving of the bauble. To do this, after 3 rows, the threads are divided in half and the next centimeter is woven into 2 parts independent of each other, after which they are woven again with a common fabric. At the other end of the bracelet, a bead, a button is attached, or a cord is left, which is then threaded through a loop and tied.
  3. Classic ties. For them, it is necessary to leave threads 20 cm long at both ends of the bracelet, then weave them into a braid or tourniquet, and tie a knot at the end so that the ties do not unravel.
  4. Metal fastening for bracelets. It can be bought in the accessories department, as a rule, it is a small carabiner and a chain for adjusting the length.
  5. The bauble is one of the types of talisman) is attached to the hand by tying the threads of the beginning and end of the baubles in pairs. Accordingly, the number of threads used in weaving will determine the number of fastening knots. Such bracelets are worn without taking them off; there is a belief that they will fall off the hand as soon as the wish is fulfilled.

The patterns are a universal thing, suitable for both beaded baubles and classic thread baubles. However, many needlewomen have difficulties with weaving according to patterns: even if it is clear whether the knot should be left-handed or right-handed, the patterns do not always reflect which threads should be used at what moment. But, despite this, as in any business, learning how to weave baubles according to patterns for beginners is possible only with the help of constant practice, starting with relatively simple patterns and ending with complex weaving. So how to use diagrams?

Basic types of knots for weaving baubles
When weaving baubles according to patterns, two main types of knots are used: from left to right (left-handed or left-handed) and from right to left (right-handed or right-handed). To weave a left knot, the left thread in the pair is placed on top of the right one and pulled from below into the resulting loop. To weave the right one, the right thread in a pair is placed on top of the left one and pulled from below into the resulting loop. The color of the knot is determined by the thread, which stretches upward when the knot is tightened.

How to weave baubles using straight weaving patterns?
You can learn to make any straight baubles after two or three woven baubles with words - then the principle is simply repeated. For a straight weave bauble you will need:

  • 7 blue threads for the base and for future letters approximately 100-110cm;
  • 1 black thread for braiding the bauble and creating a background;
  • scissors;
  • insulating tape.

  1. Distribute the threads as shown in the diagram, with the background thread on the left. Tie the first left double knot, moving to the right. The movement of the thread can be understood by the direction of the arrows in the diagram.

  2. Tie the entire first row with a black thread like this.

  3. We turn around and begin to weave the first double right knot. We tighten it.

  4. The diagram shows that the letter begins with the second node, and this node is shown with an arrow down. Take the blue thread and tie it with the black one using the left knot. To avoid confusion, remember one simple rule: each knot of a different color in a row is tied in the opposite direction of the row. That is, if you weave a row from right to left, knots of a different color will be tied from left to right, and vice versa.

  5. This is what a bauble looks like with three knots tied.

  6. We complete the letter according to the diagram and tie the last knot in the row with black thread from right to left. The first row is ready!

  7. We begin to weave the second row. Here there will be only one blue knot, on the fifth thread from the left. We tie it from right to left, and then weave a row with black thread from left to right.

  8. We weave the third row in the same way - here the colored knot will be on the fourth thread from the left.

  9. We finish the first letter and weave a space with black thread.

  10. All other rows are woven in exactly the same way - for example, the second letter is woven. Let's continue by analogy.

  11. So, you've finished the last letter - it's time to add the last space.

  12. We divide the remaining threads into three parts and braid an ordinary braid.

  13. Fenechka is ready. Of course, it turned out to be very small - when weaving according to patterns, calculate the required length to place the pattern in the middle. To do this, you will have to braid more background rows with black thread.

How to weave baubles using oblique weaving patterns?
With oblique weaving, you can make baubles of unprecedented beauty - narrow, wide, with ornaments, gradients, etc. However, you still need to learn how to read the diagrams of wide baubles, so it is better to start with a simple baubles diagram of four threads, but with both types of knots. For weaving you will need:
  • 3 dark threads (in this case turquoise) for the background;
  • 1 light thread for the pattern;
  • scissors;
  • insulating tape.

  1. Distribute the threads as shown in the diagram: let the light thread for the pattern remain on the left. Secure with electrical tape, separate the two left threads and tie the first left knot with a light thread. Don't forget that all knots must be double.

  2. Braid the same left knot on the right side with a third green thread on the fourth.

  3. Now use a light thread to tie a left knot on the two middle threads.

  4. Tie the third row with the same knots - separately on the left, separately on the right.

  5. Separate the two middle green threads and use the right thread to tie a right knot around the left one. But on the fifth row, the knot on the left will be left-handed, and on the right – right-handed.

  6. The sixth row is a right-hand knot tied with a light thread.

  7. On the seventh row, tie a green thread with a light thread with a right-hand knot, and tie a regular left-hand knot on the right. Tie the two middle threads with a left knot. Weaving according to the pattern is completed. Now repeat steps 1-7 until the bauble reaches the proper length.

  8. On the finished bauble, all that remains is to braid the braids.

If you look at it, there is nothing complicated about weaving according to patterns. The most important thing is to understand the principle itself and get used to alternating nodes. If you have difficulty finding patterns for direct weaving, there are so-called “pattern generators” on the Internet that will allow you to create your own pattern with text or from a picture - for example, the first pattern listed here was created just like that. Well, if you become seriously interested in weaving baubles, over time you will be able to weave belts and other accessories using the same patterns.

Baubles greatly decorate women's hands, and homemade accessories - even more so, because they are unique and emphasize the individuality of the owner. The simplest options also look great - it all depends on their execution. You can make amazing baubles from floss with your own hands that will look really cool!

We have put together several master classes for you, with which you will learn how to weave bracelets using different types of threads. We will talk about thin and wide baubles: with or without inscriptions, with or without additional decor. Some weaving lessons will be useful for beginners (if you are one of those who have never made baubles from floss, this is for you), and experienced craftswomen will also like some of them. We hope that everyone will choose the right option for themselves.

A simple bauble for beginners

You can learn how to weave baubles from floss from this master class. Here you will need a thread of one (or two) colors and basic decor. A few minutes of free time - and the bracelet will be ready.

We cut the thread, which when folded will be about 10 cm longer than your wrist. You can even longer - it will be more convenient to weave. Fold the thread in half, leaving a small loop, and secure it to the table with a strip of thin tape. The second thread should be about 4-5 times longer. Place it under the main thread.

We form a loop on the left and pass the right thread into it. This is the first stitch traditionally used in macrame weaving. Tighten the knot.

Make a second loop on the other side. The weaving is the same here. Tighten the knot.

Now we repeat the steps one after another and weave exactly to the middle (determine the length of the future bauble in advance using your hand).

At this stage, you can add a bead or a beautiful decorative button to make the bracelet a little heavier, and at the same time make it more beautiful and interesting. Then we continue the usual weaving until the second end of the bauble.

At the end, add a small button with a beautiful decor so that the bauble is fastened with a loop.

Please note that we fasten it using the same threads with additional loops. Use a needle to pass the thread under the loop. Cut off the excess threads with wire cutters, and burn their ends with a lighter to form “knots”. Observe safety precautions when working with fire!

A thin floss bauble with a small decorative element looks very beautiful both in a single color version and when combining two threads of contrasting colors. If you have mastered this master class, you will quickly master the rest. If you want to try something more challenging, see the step-by-step instructions below.

Weaving baubles using the oblique method

Perhaps these are the most popular baubles made from floss threads. They look quite difficult to make, but in reality this is not the case at all. With the help of this step-by-step instructions you will learn how to weave such baubles and will not get confused.

We will need 12 threads - each approximately 1 meter long. Take 2 threads of six different colors so that the pattern is visible and symmetrical. Position them in a mirror manner. Tie a knot at the top to connect them together. Secure the “tails” with tape on the table, a pin on any fabric, or a paper holder on a ruler.

Place the threads as far apart as possible and start weaving from the edge to your left. Take the outermost thread and the adjacent one. Pass the first thread under the second from the bottom and tighten the knot (as in the photo). Repeat the procedure to the very center, taking one thread after another without changing the main one. Then repeat the same with two strands of floss, which are located on the extreme side: exactly the same weaving pattern - to the center.

We need to weave so that eventually the outer threads move to the center of the bauble, and the inner threads to the outer edge. This means that we again weave the next row from the edge, but this time the main thread will be the one that was originally the penultimate one (orange in the photo).

The first rows will have to be constantly monitored so as not to mess anything up - constantly hold the bauble with your hands and weave slowly. Then the threads will line up on their own - you will only weave them according to a logical pattern.

This is how we get a kind of “Christmas tree”. During the process of weaving baubles, the threads will change places several times.

It is not at all necessary to make a bauble from threads of 6 colors - you can make a bracelet with oblique weaving and two colors. However, if you are a beginner, the first option will be preferable. Everything becomes easier if each new thread is a new color - you will intuitively feel how to weave them in the right order.

Straight weave baubles with patterns

You can make beautiful straight weave baubles with your own hands from two or more threads. Straight weaving is quite simple. Moreover, you can vary the width of the bracelet: it doesn’t make much difference whether you weave a thin bracelet or a very wide one, because the labor costs will be approximately the same.

To start weaving a straight bauble, you need to decide on its width and draw a preliminary diagram, marking the threads. You can immediately apply and think over any image and letters. Decide right away what color the pattern will be - for beginners it is better to take 2-3 types of floss and the simplest pattern.

Secure the threads to the cardboard using tape and a paper holder. Let's divide the threads into several categories to make it clearer:

  1. Main. It should be the same color as you want your future accessory to be. To put it simply, this is the background of the baubles. The main thread will be the longest, but don’t rush to measure it right away. It will be inconvenient to tinker with a five-meter floss - leave the thread directly in the finished spool and unwind it as needed.
  2. Auxiliary. This thread is responsible for the color of the design. Usually there are several of them, and they should not be too long: within a meter, plus or minus 20 cm. The consumption of the auxiliary thread will depend on the size and complexity of the pattern for the future bauble.
  3. Additional. There are usually several of them too. In this case, you need to choose floss in the colors that are needed for decoration and adding minor details. They are woven into the pattern only as needed, and the ends are cut off after the weaving is completed.

To weave a straight weave bauble with a pattern with your own hands, you need to choose a pattern. This is the first step. We offer you several options, but you can easily draw something yourself. To do this, take a notebook sheet in the squares and fill them with color so that you get one or another drawing. A filled cell corresponds to a knot of one color or another; empty cells correspond to the background (this is the main thread).

If there is an empty square in the diagram, make a knot with the floss of the main thread of the bauble and go through the row to the end. Then walk from the opposite edge in the opposite direction. As soon as you come across a knot of the color of the auxiliary thread, take floss of the corresponding color, and weave the rest of the row with the main one.

Try starting with something simple. You can easily make a straight weave using two colors of thread, adding just a few stitches with a contrasting color thread to create distinctive dots. However, you can immediately take on something complex.

Bonus: video master class

It is quite possible that you do not quite understand the patterns of weaving baubles with straight or oblique weaving. To make everything clearer, we invite you to watch this short video master class, which describes in detail how to make a bracelet from floss threads with your own hands. As an example, we chose a pattern for weaving a bauble with an inscription (bracelets with a name or quotes are very popular).

Unusual and cute thread baubles have always attracted the attention of others. You won’t surprise anyone with the usual jewelry, but with such bracelets you can easily stand out from the crowd. Moreover, they are attractive not only for their brightness, but also because they can be made independently. Another important feature is the rather interesting meaning that connects the two friends.

Baubles - what are they?

A bauble is an accessory in the form of a bracelet, made in the form of weaving from threads, ribbons, beads and other materials. Most often it is woven by hand, and its creation is based on the meaning of friendship between two people. But the last point is not necessary, since in modern times many perceive it simply as decoration.

The prototype of modern baubles are the jewelry of Aborigines and Indians, who exchanged similar bracelets to establish a spiritual connection. Later, this idea was borrowed by supporters of the “hippie” movement, who thereby confirmed their attitude towards this brotherhood.

A classic option is baubles woven from floss threads. They can be either plain or multi-colored. Also, depending on the type of weaving, they can depict various designs and patterns. The colors on the baubles have certain meanings, thanks to which it was possible to determine what a person was like.

Nowadays, baubles made of threads and other materials are quite a popular accessory, and you can weave them either yourself or buy a finished product. They go perfectly with summer and spring looks. Moreover, they can be worn by both girls and boys.

Methods of weaving baubles

The weaving of baubles itself involves tying four types of knots. There are two main ways to weave baubles: oblique and straight. Already among them you can find interesting solutions for a design or pattern, which will differ not only in complexity, but also in execution technique.

Those who have enough experience can even combine these two weaving methods, creating new original designs and color mixtures.

Oblique weaving

The principle of oblique weaving is that the knots are knitted in one chosen direction - from left to right or vice versa. The simplest pattern that perfectly demonstrates the principle of oblique weaving is the classic three-color one.

So, you will need threads of three colors, the length of which is at least 60 cm.

  1. The first step will be to create a knot and start a thread out of thread. It is attached to the work surface.
  2. Weaving starts from left to right. It is from this side that you need to start tying knots. To do this, the two outermost threads are knitted together in a knot, while the outermost one is held in place.
  3. The resulting knot is transferred to the base of the thread bauble, and then another knot is made.
  4. The same must be done with other threads in the direction to the right. That is, the outermost thread will tie two knots on subsequent threads.
  5. After the first row, you can proceed to the next one. It is done in the same way as the first one. Only the color of the outer thread will be different.
  6. When the weaving of the thread baubles fits the size of your wrist, the final part should be secured.

Straight weave

Direct weaving of baubles is more difficult. However, those who have mastered oblique will also be able to cope with this. The advantage of this weaving method is a greater variety of patterns. Baubles can contain not only multi-colored patterns, but also full-fledged designs. This can be achieved due to the fact that the knots are knitted horizontally.

The weaving moves first from right to left, and then vice versa. It is better to start learning how to weave baubles in a direct way with two colors. One will act as a background, and the other as knots. Moreover, much more of the second is needed.

  1. The beautiful base of a thread bauble is made like this: the threads that will be used as a background must be folded in half.
  2. On the one hand, closer to the fold, a thread is tied, which is called “leading”.
  3. You need to tie all the background threads with the leading thread so that you end up with a beautiful, uniform loop.
  4. Then you need to tie certain knots on the background threads, moving towards the opposite side.
  5. When the first row is completed, you need to move on to the second. Here weaving will be carried out according to the same principle, but in the opposite direction. Therefore, many people call this method “snake”.

Having gotten your hang of weaving baubles in two colors, you should try your skills on several shades or start creating real patterns.

Patterns for weaving baubles from threads

To begin with, it must be said that there are two types of schemes:

  • a full cycle means that after weaving the pattern has finished, it must be repeated again;
  • an incomplete cycle demonstrates the principle of tying knots, that is, there will be some colors on top and others on the bottom.

As for the nodes themselves, they also come in two types:

  • right is characterized by the fact that the working thread will be located on the right side of the resulting knot,
  • left means that the working thread will be on the left side of the knot itself.

There are also 4 types of nodes:

  • straight - shown in the diagram with an arrow pointing in a right-down direction. And for this you need to make two left nodes;
  • the reverse is shown in the diagram as an arrow, which shows the left-down direction. And that means making two right knots;
  • The left tatting looks on the diagram as an arrow in the form of a right angle, looking in the lower left direction. To make it, you need to do the following: first you need to tie a left knot, after which, changing the threads in places, you need to make a right knot;
  • right tatting - in the diagram it indicates the direction to the right and down in the form of a right angle. It is performed according to the same principle as the previous knot, only in the opposite direction: first the right knot, then the left.

Often the diagrams show the colors of the nodes, however, you can replace them with others. At the beginning of the journey of weaving baubles from threads, in order not to get confused, you can mark the rows that have already been made.

As for the schemes themselves, there are a huge number of them. Thanks to them, you can create various designs and patterns on baubles. It is also possible to come up with a pattern yourself; for this purpose, special programs have been created that process the intended ornament into the form of a weaving pattern.

In the video below you will see how diverse thread baubles can be, in which case to use straight weaving, and in which oblique. Get inspired.

To create a multi-colored thread bauble, you will need floss threads - at least six colors, scissors and fasteners.

  1. The threads are cut in half so that there is double quantity of each color.
  2. The threads are then arranged so that like colors are mirrored. That is, red will be the extreme color on the left and right sides, green will be the second, etc.
  3. The threads can be attached in any way you like.
  4. Weaving can be started from any side, for example, from the left. To do this, the outer thread makes two left knots, which need to be placed right at the base of the bracelet.
  5. Then, again, the red thread should tie knots on other threads. They need to be tied to the middle.
  6. The same must be done on the other side, that is, repeat the actions, but in the opposite order.
  7. When the red threads come together in the middle, you need to tie a knot with the right leading thread.
  8. You need to start the second row from green. Everything is done in the same way as with the red thread.
  9. At the end of weaving, you can tie the bauble in a knot and weave a thin braid from the remaining threads. The same needs to be done with the threads that remain at the base.

How to decorate baubles?

The bauble itself is an original accessory, but this does not mean that the bracelet should be made exclusively from floss. It can be complemented with various decorations. The simplest option for decorating baubles are interesting locks. They can be purchased at craft stores. This could be an infinity sign, chain links, a beacon and much more. And you can weave beads, spikes, beads, stones, sequins, rhinestones into the bracelet itself.

To decorate a bauble with beads or beads, they need to be strung on a thread and sewn into a bracelet using a needle.

The decoration in the form of rhinestones looks interesting. They can be glued to the finished bauble, but in this case there is a risk that the glue will leave marks. Therefore, you can buy a thread with ready-made small rhinestones applied.

So, in order to attach a thread with rhinestones, you need to do the following:

  1. In the middle along the thread bauble you need to lay out a thread with rhinestones of the appropriate length.
  2. Then, using a thread whose color matches the bauble, you need to start sewing on the thread with rhinestones.
  3. Weaving baubles is quite an interesting process, but difficulties can also arise with it. And the first problem for beginners is incorrectly determining the length of the threads. Firstly, you need to leave the length so that you can wear the bauble on your hand. Secondly, depending on the complexity of the weaving, threads with a length of 80 cm or more are needed. Therefore, the more complex the pattern, the longer the thread should be.

    At the beginning of training, you can simply secure the threads in the form of a simple knot. But to make your work look more neat, you can use one of the suggested methods:

    1. Fixing the threads with a pin. All the threads need to be tied around a pin, and then it can be attached to a piece of fabric or even to your jeans.
    2. The bauble is an excellent decoration that is suitable for summer. And the weaving process itself can become an interesting hobby, because there are many patterns of varying complexity that can be used to create a beautiful and unusual bracelet. Also, a hand-woven bauble can be a pleasant gift for girlfriends or friends.

      Finally, an easy master class on weaving the simplest baubles from threads, which will allow even inexperienced beginners to get excited about the idea of weaving.

The site already has several articles about baubles, but in the comments the phrases constantly pop up: “I don’t understand anything,” “so how to weave baubles from floss.” Therefore, we decided to write a detailed article about weaving baubles from floss, types of knots and tell you that in reality everything is very simple.

In oblique weaving of baubles, 4 different knots are used, they are designated differently and are woven differently. These should be woven in rows from left to right, or from right to left, and not in any other way, and not as the arrows show. In this case, the arrows only show which knot needs to be tied. You can learn how to weave baubles with oblique weaving using our master class: .

You can also watch how to weave baubles with oblique weaving in our video:

3. How to weave baubles with straight weave with two colors (including baubles with names)

There are already articles on this topic on our website that tell how baubles are woven using straight weave. This is a master class and... On the generator page you can create your own individual bauble design with any name or text.

You can see how to weave baubles using straight weave in two colors in our video:

4. How to weave baubles with straight weave with a large number of colors

Straight weave baubles with two colors are woven differently than baubles with many colors. In this article we will not describe this technique; it deserves special attention. We analyzed this weaving in the master class. You can create a bauble pattern yourself thanks to ours.

5. How to weave baubles with sharp arrows (braid)

To weave this bauble, take floss threads a little more than a meter long. 6 colors, 2 pieces of each color. Lay out the threads symmetrically, connect them into a bundle and tie them in a knot at a distance of 7 centimeters from the edge. Thread a pin through the knot and attach it to a pillow, or glue the beginning of the bauble to the table with tape. Divide the threads in half.

Start on the left side with the outer color, ours is red. Using this thread, make a figure of four over the second thread, then pass the first thread under it and thread it through the hole as shown in the photo.

Tighten the knot by pulling the first thread upward to the right. Repeat this knot again, you will get a double knot, this is what the whole bauble will be woven with. Thus, our first thread moved from the left side one position to the right and became the second. Using exactly the same knot, we tie the second thread around the third and so on until the second thread reaches the center. This is one half of the bauble.

Now take the thread from the other side, ours is also red. We will make knots from right to left. To do this, we do everything symmetrically: we bend the red thread over the orange one in the form of a mirror four. Then we also thread it inside and tighten it to the left up. The main thing is not to forget that this knot must be made twice on each thread.

We continue to knit knots with this thread from left to right until it reaches the middle. Tie a knot with two middle threads of the same color in order to tie the halves together. So we have finished the first line of our bauble. The remaining rows are knitted in exactly the same way with two outer threads of the same color.

When you finish the bauble (you can tell by simply trying it on your hand, only take into account a little free space in order to tie the bauble), tie a regular knot using all the threads, and then braid it.

This bauble can also be made asymmetrical; to do this, first lay out the threads without symmetry. If you don't stop in the middle, you will end up with a classic oblique braided bauble. Don't forget that the knots need to be tied twice. And don't skip the middle when you knit.

6. How to make a bauble with rhinestones

There are many ways to weave baubles, and we will also look at how to make any bauble more unique and shiny.

We make a bauble with rhinestones. To do this, we will need a ready-made bauble (we will take a woven bauble with arrows), a chain with rhinestones, a floss thread, a needle and scissors.

Thread the needle and tie a knot at the end. Pass the needle through the bauble from the bottom up at the very beginning of the bauble. Or, to better hide the knot, you can thread the thread through the knot at the very beginning of the bauble. Place a chain with rhinestones in the center of the bauble.

Make a stitch between the first two rhinestones. Then pass the needle from bottom to top again, this time trying to get it in the middle between the second and third stone.

Continue this way until the end of the bauble. After the last stitch, tie a knot on the reverse side. Or again, thread it through the knot at the end of the bauble. Then trim the edge of the thread.

Our bauble with rhinestones is ready.

7. How to make a bauble with thorns

To create a bauble with spikes we will need: any bauble, 5 chrome spikes with fasteners, a screwdriver and scissors.

Make marks with a marker to ensure even placement of the spikes. Use a ruler, or calculate by thread. Pierce in the marked places with scissors so that the screw can come through.

Place the screw through the hole and screw it into the tenon using a screwdriver.

Repeat with the remaining spikes in the same way. That's all! Our thorned bauble is ready.

8. How to make a bauble with a chain

In order to make a bauble with a chain, we will need: any ready-made bauble, a short chain with large links, a floss thread, a needle and scissors.

Thread the floss thread through the needle. Then untie one knot at the end of the bauble and tie it together with the end of our thread. On the reverse side, thread the needle first from the very edge of the bauble.

Place the chain near the bauble and thread the needle through the first link. Pass the needle through the back of the baubles again, so that the needle is near the second link of our chain.

Continue this way until the end of the bauble. The chain will need to be adjusted to the length of the bauble. To do this, straighten the link that extends beyond the length of the bauble and remove the rest of the chain. Make two stitches on the last link. After this, untie the bauble knot and tie it together with our thread.

Trim the remaining thread. Your updated shiny bauble is ready. Does she really look brighter now?

9. How to weave baubles with nuts

Using ordinary hex nuts you can weave a very original bauble. It somewhat resembles a spine. This bauble will look great on a guy’s hand. And nuts can be bought at any hardware store in different colors and sizes.

For this bauble we will need a spool of cotton rope, hex nuts (the quantity depends on you) and scissors.

Take three ropes, tie them into a knot, leaving ends 5-10 centimeters long free. After the knot, start braiding with a regular 3-5 centimeter braid.

Next, before making a strand with the left thread, put a nut on it, press the nut tightly to the pigtail and make a strand with the left thread. If your thread or rope is not very thick, then you can make a ring inside the nut (by wrapping the nut with thread), and then weave further. This way, the not very thick rope will not wear out very quickly.

Hold the left nut with your finger. Before making a strand now with the right thread, put a nut on it and make a strand. Hold the nut with your finger in the same way so that it is pressed tightly against the pigtail.

Then there will be a new thread on the left, thread the nut and knit the bauble in the same way. We try to knit tightly so that the nuts do not dangle or become loose after a couple of days of wear.

We repeat the steps and weave a bauble. We calculate the required length according to our wrist, taking into account the free space before and after the nuts.

After we have finished braiding the nuts, we again make 3-5 centimeters of a regular braid, tie a knot and leave another 5-10 centimeters of the free end of the ropes.

We wrap the bauble 2-3 times around the wrist and tie it. Our bauble with nuts is ready!

10. How to weave baubles and tied chains

Shiny chains tied with multi-colored floss threads look impressive, right? And they are made very simply. Let's learn how to weave them. We will need: a chain with large links, floss threads of different colors, two hair clips and scissors.

Let's cut 2 sets of 15 threads each. The length of one thread should be 4 times the length of our bracelet. Tie both sets of threads into one knot, leaving 5 centimeters free. Put a pin on each set of threads; they will help you easily thread the threads into the links of the chain and weave a bauble.

Place the threads to the left of the chain. Pull the first set of threads through the first link of the chain using a bobby pin, as shown in the photo.

Place the second set of threads on top of the first. Thread the second set of threads through the same chain link from the bottom up.

We move on to the second link, again put the first color on top of the second and thread it into the second link from the bottom up. We repeat in the same way with the second color. We have a chain with fairly large links, so in each link we make a braid with each set of threads. If you have a bracelet with smaller links, you can weave one pass into each link.

Repeat the steps until you reach the end of the chain, then tie a knot and trim the ends. So our bauble is ready. You can tie the chain on both sides, it will also turn out interesting. To do this, simply turn the chain over to the other side and weave according to the same instructions.

11. How to weave a friendship necklace

Let's learn how to weave a wonderful necklace. It looks interesting. It can also be given as a gift, just like a friendship bracelet. And they are quite easy to weave.

Well, we will need: cotton rope, floss threads, nuts and washers, spools of thread and scissors.

In order to make a necklace of two colors, we take two skeins of floss and wind them on spools to make it easy to weave. Then we take a rope of the required length and tie it together with the threads in one large knot. We fasten the end with tape to the table, or with a pin to the sofa. Let's start weaving in red, which means we hold the purple color in our left hand so that it is taut along with the rope. We take the red color in our right hand, make a loop in the shape of a four with a thread over the rope, then thread the spool into the resulting loop from the bottom up (see photo) and tighten the knot by pulling the spool up to the right. We repeat this knot many times until you decide to change the color.

Changing the color is very easy. To do this, simply transfer the red spool to your left hand and pull it, and with the purple thread we begin to knit knots, as described above.

You can change the colors as you wish. You can add washers or nuts in the middle of the friendship necklace and then tie the knots again. When you are finished knitting, untie the first knot and tie both ends of the necklace into one knot. In addition, the necklace will look much more interesting if there are more colors. You can weave a large number of thread colors in the same way, just hold all the currently unused thread spools in your left hand. It turns out such beauty!

12. How to weave a bauble wrapped chain with rhinestones

For this bauble we will need: 110-140 centimeters of leather cord one and a half millimeters thick, 30-40 centimeters of a chain of balls or crystals, 150-180 centimeters of thread, a brass nut and scissors. The length varies depending on your wrist size. It is designed to be wrapped twice around the wrist and tied.

Fold the leather cord in half to create a loop. The size of the loop must be selected in such a way that the nut, which will act as a fastener, fits tightly into it. Run the thread along a leather cord a couple of centimeters long. Then we begin to wrap the rest of the thread around the cord in the opposite direction from the loop. Pull the thread tightly so that the end does not jump out and unravel.

Place a chain with balls between the two halves of the leather cord. Wrap the thread tightly between each individual ball.

Continue wrapping the chain until the bauble reaches the required length.

When you reach the required length, tie a knot with three threads (thread and two halves of leather cord).

Then thread the nut and tie another knot. Trim off any excess ends.

The bauble with wrapped rhinestones is ready. Please note that the size is designed for two rings around the wrist. If you want to make one turn, or vice versa more, calculate in relation to these dimensions.

13. How to weave macrame baubles

Square knots, which are used in macrame, also look very impressive in baubles. Only we will take brighter materials. Instead of thread, we will use nylon cord of different colors. Add shiny metal and stones and get shiny macrame baubles.

So, we will need: four meters of nylon cord half a millimeter thick, metal jewelry or stones, a needle and scissors.

Cut the nylon cord like this: 2 pieces of 75 centimeters, 2 pieces of 50 centimeters and 1 piece of 25 centimeters. Fold one half-meter piece of nylon cord in half, thread the resulting loop into the ring, and thread the end of the thread into this loop and tighten. Repeat with the second half-meter end on the other side. This way we will fix the ring. These threads will remain motionless for us.

Take one piece of nylon cord 75 centimeters long, bend it in half and place the center under the cord tied to the ring. Turn the right part of the cord to the left, place the left part of the cord above the right and thread it into the loop formed on the right from the bottom up as shown in the photo.

Pull the knot tightly and push it up until it stops.

Next, we turn the left part of the cord to the right, lift the right part above it, and then thread it into the loop on the left in the same way from bottom to top and tighten the knot. It turns out to be a mirror image of the previous node.

We repeat the knots left and right until the required length of the bauble is reached. Please note that the fastener will take up about one and a half centimeters.

When you're done, take the left side of the cord first and thread it along the center part 4-5 knots from the back of the bauble.

Repeat the same steps with the right half of the cord.

When you thread the cords, cut off the excess part, and the small pieces that remain sticking out can be additionally melted and sealed using a lighter for better fixation. We weave in the same way on the other side of the ring with a second piece of cord 75 centimeters long.

Next we will make it so that the bauble can be moved apart and tightened. It will turn out solid and without knots. Take the piece of cord that we cut off as extra and temporarily tie the cords of the ends of the bauble together.

Next, take the last piece of nylon cord 25 centimeters long, fold it in half, and start knitting the same left and right knots as we knitted earlier on the bracelet itself.

Make knots about one and a half centimeters long. Thread the ends of the cord that we knitted back and seal them with a lighter. Remove the temporary knots that tied the two ends of the bauble.

Thus, with the help of the central cords we can now adjust the size of the bauble. Select the desired length and tie knots at the ends, and then trim off the excess.

All. The adjustable macrame bauble is ready! As a decoration in the center, you can take whatever your imagination comes up with.

14. How to weave beaded baubles

Let's make another unusual bauble - threads plus beads. For this bauble we need 1.2 meters of thread, beads, a button, and scissors.

Cut the thread into two pieces, one 70 cm, the other 50 cm. Fold the long thread in half. Then attach one end of the short thread to the ends of the long thread and make a bend at half of the long thread. Look at the photo what it looks like. You get a loop and three ends of thread 35 centimeters long and one short end.

We tie a knot, leaving a loop of such a size that the selected button fits tightly. Then cut off the fourth short tip.

We begin to weave a regular braid with three threads. After three centimeters of the braid, we thread the beads onto the left thread.

Press the beads onto the braid and cross the center thread with the left thread. Now put the beads on the right thread and cross the center thread with the right thread.

Hold the beads with your finger as you weave to make the bauble tight. Continue braiding the braid, alternately threading the beads from the left to the right.

When the size of the bauble is sufficient for your hand, we again braid a bead-free braid of the same length as at the beginning. Tie a knot at the end.

After the knot, put a button on the threads and tie a double knot.

Cut off the excess part. So our bauble with beads is ready.

You can take threads and beads of any colors, try, experiment, you will like it!

15. How to weave a bauble with hooks

Let's look at another option on how to weave baubles. This will be a bauble with hooks. It’s not difficult to make, and besides, it has one interesting advantage, which I’ll talk about at the end of the master class.

Well, let's get started. For this bauble we will need:
- a cord 2 mm thick, about 60 cm long, instead you can use a flexible wire, twine, or something similar;
- copper hook;
- ruler;
- pliers;
- lighter.

Before you begin, seal the ends of the cord with a lighter so that it does not unravel when worn. Take a pair of pliers and bend the hook on one side until it stops so that the cord cannot come out. Bend it on the other side too, but so that the cord can pass through.

Now we will make an adjustable knot. Thread one end of a 6-inch cord through the fully curled side of the hook. Bend 8 centimeters of the cord back towards the hook, of which 5 centimeters turn towards you. We will tie a knot with this end.

Wrap it around all the threads, making two circles towards the left loop. Thread the end through the left loop.

Hold it with your left hand and with your right press the skeins to the left until the knot is tied tightly. You can check that you have tied the knot correctly by holding the hook in your right hand and pulling the cord with your left. The knot should move close to the hook.

At the other end of the cord you need to make the same knot. There is no need to thread it through the hook. In this case, the turns of the end of the cord must be wound in the direction to the right.

Pass the end of the cord into the right loop and tighten the knot, moving the turns to the right as well.

Trim the ends of the cord and resolder them with a lighter if necessary. Now our bracelet is ready. It needs to be wrapped around your hand 2-3 times and adjusted with the second sliding knot.

Now here's an interesting point. Instead of a hook, you can use anything. You just need a hook on one side, and on the other you can drill a hole if necessary. This is how you can make this bauble for a guy. Especially if he is a fisherman, it will be very relevant. A designer version of a fish hook is used here.

If you show your imagination, you can use any item that can highlight and convey the owner’s hobbies. For musicians, for example, you can take a keychain in the form of a note, on one side you can fasten the cord to its tail, and on the other, drill a hole in its base. It will also look stylish and interesting. Show your imagination and surprise your friends!
