How to save a broken nail with a tea bag. How to save a broken nail

Long nails and a beautiful manicure are the standard of female beauty. And breaking a nail is a big nuisance for every woman. The cleavage site looks unaesthetic and scratches the skin.

What if the nail broke off and you want to return it to its former beautiful appearance?

Broken nail: what to do

Further actions with a broken nail depend on how it broke: slightly cracked or completely torn off. An uneven edge or crack will cause trouble - scratching and clinging to clothing.

Possible actions in the event of a broken nail:

  • Trim the nail or drink.
  • Glue the crack on one's own.
  • Ask for help to a specialist.

If you want to solve the problem yourself and save the broken nail yourself at home, then you need to choose the right gluing technology. It depends on where the crack has passed: in the overhanging part of the nail or in the middle of it. The size of the crack is also important.

  • If a breakdown small, then you can seal up problem area with a special patch made of natural fabric or paper patch. Such repairs are addressed for any cracks on the side of the nail, along the “smile” line or along it.
  • At complete breaking off nail top impose acrylic artificial material tipsu.
  • Tips are also applied when a crack has appeared along the axis of the finger, in the middle.

It makes sense to repair a broken nail if it is cracked no more than 1/3 of its length. Otherwise, the repair will be short-lived.

Sometimes the crack goes so deep that it injures the finger under the nail. In this case, treatment and recovery is best done in the cabin.

What can't do:

  • glue living natural nail on superglue. The synthetic composition corrodes the living cells of the nail plate. Synthetics can only repair extended acrylic plates.
  • It is forbidden nail polish with acetone or other nail polish remover when breaking it down to the “meat”. Aggressive chemical solutions should not enter the wound.
  • It is forbidden delay repairs nail if you have a crack. The nail may crack further and break off completely. The sooner you start repairing the problem area of the nail, the smaller the crack that needs to be glued.

Tools and materials for nail repair

Often, materials for gluing damaged nails are sold in a kit, like a professional kit for repairing nail plates. It includes:

  • Silk for repair of nails on an adhesive basis.
  • Glue for natural and artificial nails.
  • file and buff for natural and artificial nails.
  • Any disinfector: hydrogen peroxide, medical alcohol, and even better - a professional manicure tool.
  • orange sticks for a manicure.

All these tools and materials can be selected separately, depending on the availability in the store and personal preferences. It is worth noting that, despite the fact that the special silk for nail repair is self-adhesive, its adhesive base is not enough to glue the crack, nail glue is required.

In the absence of silk for nails, it can be replaced with a piece of natural or synthetic silk, a paper napkin, a tea bag, filter paper or a paper band-aid - everything that is at hand at home.

Natural nail repair

Most often, the nail plate breaks at the point of attachment to the finger. This line is called the "smile". The repaired nail loses strength, but retains its appearance. The repair technology is as follows:

  • Remove varnish And handle nail antiseptic.
  • Buff the bumps on a broken nail.
  • Prepare a piece of fabric - cut it so that it covers the crack by 2-3 mm on each side.
  • Apply glue And impose over the nail piece of cloth, carefully press it. Use a toothpick or an orange stick with a pointed end to level the patch.
  • After the glue has dried, smooth the edges of the fabric with a buff.
  • Glue in the same way 1-2 more layers of fabric on top of the first, depending on the size of the breakage, carefully sawing each layer
  • Cover the nail with varnish for the final masking of the crack.

You can learn more about how to repair a broken nail by watching this video:

When sticking tips, the technology is similar. Instead of three layers of fabric patches, acrylic tips are glued over the damage. After the glue dries, the tips are cut to the desired size.

Crack under gel coat

In order to glue the nail under the gel polish, you need to remove the polish. You can not remove from all fingers, limit yourself to only a broken nail, and do not touch the rest. To remove, use special means for removing Shellac or biogel - depending on the coating of the nail. If you cannot remove the gel polish, you can glue the patch over the old coating.

A "patch" is applied to the site of the broken nail

The technique for applying a patch to a gel polish is the same as for a natural nail, and it is covered with a new varnish, which is dried under a UV lamp. For home repairs using gel technology, a UV lamp and gel polish are needed.

If the crack is located along the edge of the nail, then it can be cut and grow with biogel again. To do this, use a special form or foil, which is substituted under the nail and used as a support for applying the biogel. After the biogel has hardened under a UV lamp, the foil is carefully removed.

How to build up a broken nail with a biogel or a rubber-based base coat, see the video instructions:

Extended nail repair

Building do acrylic tips. They do not have a living structure, therefore, when breaking off, they can be glued with synthetic glue for plastic (superglue, "Moment"). The fastening materials are the same - filter paper, silk strips, paper patch.

The technology for gluing the extended plate is as follows:

  • Drop on the nail glue And attach carved over it paper strip.

Drip over the strip glue again. Third layer of glue apply over the dried second.

  • Process place of repair nail file.
  • Apply top varnish.

Another repair option is to replace the broken tips with a new one.

What to do if the nail broke off to the meat

If the nail has broken off very badly, you need to immediately handle him any antiseptic: hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine, miramistin and others. It is very difficult to glue such a crack on your own. It is better to contact the salon to a competent and experienced specialist.

The repair procedure is done after removal of inflammatory symptoms and complete healing of open wounds of the nail plate.

Professional restoration of such a breakdown involves the use of special biogels. They contain proteins to repair the nail structure, and also protect the chipped site from infection.

Some biogels dissolve when exposed to detergents and acetone. Therefore, after such treatment, when washing the floor, dishes, you must wear rubber gloves.

A broken nail is a big nuisance. However, you can return it to its previous appearance: seal the crack and cover it with varnish. If you cannot repair it yourself, then seek help from a professional nail technician.

Long manicured nails are always beautiful. Although not very convenient. With a short manicure, everyday life is easier, and care for it is not so scrupulous. But no matter how long the nails on the hands are, no woman can be sure that at one fine moment one of them will not break. It's a shame, unpleasant, sometimes very painful ... And most importantly - how to fix a broken nail without sacrificing a manicure? Is it possible and how to solve the problem on my own?

Broken nail? We do trendy manicure!

Severe injuries, when the edge of the nail plate protruding beyond the bed, breaks down to the root, to the very meat, are rare. Much more often you have to deal with the problem of a cracked nail on the side, which is not so painful, but extremely unpleasant.

It doesn’t matter if there was a breakdown on the working right or left hand - the damaged nail gets in the way, clings to clothes, tights, hair, scratches the skin ... When the situation is not critical, you don’t need to be puzzled by the question of what to do if, and make a tragedy out of it. This is just an excuse to update your manicure!

A cracked nail, of course, will have to be cut off at the root. The nails on the remaining fingers also need to be shortened to equalize their length. Naturally, it is not necessary to cut to the meat - it is quite possible to retreat 2-3 mm from the edge of the nail bed. If you do not look closely, a small difference will not be noticeable.

You will have to say goodbye to a stylish manicure and your favorite long nails for a while, however, this is not a reason for frustration, since the fashion of recent years welcomes naturalness and naturalness in everything. So a short manicure is a trend, the main thing is that the nails on the left and right hands are neat, perfectly groomed.

And in order to return to the usual length as quickly as possible, it is useful to regularly lubricate the nails with composite preparations with vitamins and vegetable oils that accelerate their growth.

We “heal” a crack along the smile line

The first thought that came to mind, if the nail broke just a little bit, was to glue the plate at the site of damage. Indeed, doing it at home is not so problematic. But in no case with superglue, not with Moment, and not with any other household adhesive intended for repairing artificial materials.

The nail plate is alive. The maximum that can be achieved by trying to “heal” it in such a barbarous way is to damage it so much that you have to save and treat the entire nail, along with the underlying soft tissues. To glue, you need to use a special glue that will not harm the nail.

In addition to glue, to implement the plan, you will need:

  • antiseptic;
  • nail file with abrasive coating up to 240 units;
  • grinding nail file-buff;
  • soft thin fabric;
  • toothpick.

An antiseptic is necessary to disinfect the site of injury to the nail. Even if the damage is small, the nail is not torn to the meat, disinfecting it will not hurt to avoid possible infection.

Fabric in order to gently seal the cracked nail, it is best to use cotton, silk, thin linen or fiberglass.

As an option, and the most affordable and budgetary, you can repair the nail plate with a tea bag, cutting off a miniature piece of the desired size from it.

Stages of gluing a broken nail

We look at what to do if the nail is broken, in the case when you can glue it at home. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Lacquer is washed off the nail plate.
  2. Treat thoroughly with a disinfectant.
  3. The area around the crack is cleaned with a soft nail file, directing movements from the base of the nail plate to the edge.
  4. Cut out a small patch from the selected material (thin fabric, tea bag). The size of the patch should be larger than the crack by a maximum of 3-4 mm.
  5. Trying out the pay. If necessary, adjust the size.
  6. Exactly in the middle of the tear, a drop of glue is dripped and carefully distributed along the entire length of the crack, slightly going beyond the edges of the place where the nail broke.
  7. The patch is applied to the damaged area, leveled with a toothpick (orange stick), pressed tightly. The next stage of repair can be started when the glue is completely dry - after 2-3 minutes.
  8. The surface and edges of the patch are polished with a buff. Ideally, the tissue should completely merge with the nail plate, not protrude above it with a tubercle.
  9. In order for the repair to be of high quality, it is advisable to repeat the manipulations with the patch twice. That is, on top of the already fixed piece of fabric (tea bag), glue another one, but a little larger.
  10. After the second layer has dried, the patch is also sanded with a buff.
  11. It remains only to polish the nail and cover it with varnish.

If a low tubercle remains at the site of damage, it’s not scary. Firstly, if everything is done qualitatively, it will practically not be visible. Secondly, after coating the nail with varnish, the lift will not be visually distinguishable at all.

Hide the defect under the tips

If the first two options for restoring a broken nail under the root for some reason are not suitable or difficult to perform, there is always the opportunity to “hide” the affected nail plate under an artificial tip. This method is even preferable if you have to restore the nail on your right hand yourself, since it is difficult for right-handers to accurately work with the left.

So, what to do if the nail broke at the edge, cracked? First you need to buy a set of high-quality, defect-free tips. The best option is transparent thin square-shaped plates. They are much easier to work with.

In addition to the main restoration material for the procedure, you will need:

nail polish remover;

a means for disinfecting the place of the chip;

glue;

nail files (grinding, polishing);

manicure scissors or nippers.

Tips sticking technology is simple. The main thing is not to rush and do everything very carefully:

  1. Polish is removed from the nail.
  2. Treated with disinfectant.
  3. Degrease, clean the edges of the chip.
  4. Polish the surface, removing all irregularities.
  5. Tips of a suitable size are covered with a thin layer of glue from the inside. Apply glue to the nail with a brush.
  6. Tips are applied to the nail plate, aligning the limiter strictly along the edges of the bed. Press lightly.
  7. Waiting for the glue to dry.
  8. Scissors, tweezers or nippers carefully cut off the tips. The length of the restored nail should be the same as the rest of the nails on the right and left hand.
  9. With a nail file, the edges of the tips are leveled and polished. The joints, if necessary, are again coated with glue.

If the repair is done well, the tips will hold firmly until the nail grows to an acceptable length.

As you can see, there are no particular problems in quickly, efficiently, without resorting to the services of masters to restore a broken nail. The main thing is not to panic, think about which method of adjustment would be better and do everything clearly according to the recommendations outlined. And then you can easily restore the plate in the place where the nail broke.

This article will focus on the repair of natural nails from the master and at home. And so, how can a nail be repaired if it is broken?

"Patch"

A patch is a great way to repair a broken, cracked, or torn nail.

Technology

The nail plate in the problem area is polished with a file / buff / grinder and degreased (for example, with a dehydrator). A layer of nail repair glue is applied to the damaged area of the nail. From silk / fiberglass / linen (a special material for nail repair), a piece is cut out a little larger than the damage on the nail and superimposed on the nail plate. Top it again should be covered with glue and let the glue dry. It is better to apply 2 layers of glue on top, because after it dries, the grinder needs to go over the patch and smooth out the transitions.

At home and in emergencies, you can use a varnish base instead of glue, and tissue paper, a paper napkin, or even a tea bag will do for the role of silk. Of course, this will only be a temporary measure, but sometimes even such little things can save the situation!

Nail sticker patch

A sticker on the nail will also help save the situation. Cover the nail plate with a base, wait for the varnish to dry. Then apply the sticker on the crack, press it well and align it with the shape of the nail, and apply another 1-2 layers of fixative on top.

In order for the patch to last longer and the nail has time to grow, it should be covered from above with another material. For example, for nails. You can use transparent and, but remember that when removing the varnish, you can destroy the structure of the glue, so it is better to choose a transparent varnish and tint it periodically without erasing the previous layer. A more reliable protection for the nail will be to strengthen it. The patch underneath wears quite well and goes along with it.

Gel or acrylic

With the help of these materials, almost any problem can be repaired. can be used as protection over a "patch" or an independent type of repair. Thanks to the possibility of modeling, you can even length and

Not so long ago, in my blog, I told in detail,. In the article, I demonstrated from my own experience how to repair a crack on the tip of the nail. She also talked about other ways of repairing nail breakages of various types, including chipping.

Nail chipping happens very often on long nails, and it is especially disappointing that because of this, you will have to trim the rest of the nails more shortly to the new length. However, modern materials make it possible not to resort to such emergency measures and to build up this chip, both with the help of either fiberglass (silk) or without them. And here, using my example, I decided to show how to do this using only the base for gel polish.

Repair (extension) of the nail base

The base will need a thick - or. I used the second one from Nogtika (its review is also on the blog). You can try with a thick top, but still this is contact with a natural nail, so a base is better.

For a more visual demonstration of the whole process, I shot a video that describes step by step the repair of the nail with a base for gel polish.

The repair algorithm is as follows:

  1. First, we file the chip a little to make its edges more even.
  2. Next, degrease the entire surface of the nail, and especially carefully the butt on the chip.
  3. We apply on the nail and on the contact zone of the chip.
  4. Next, with a thin brush, apply the base to the end of the chip with a thread and immediately dry it. In an LED lamp, 10 seconds is enough - there is very little material.
  5. We repeat the process by analogy until it is restored. I needed 6 layers for this. With an intermediate drying of 10 seconds, it takes literally 3 minutes.
  6. Now it is necessary to equalize the extended piece with the same base, both from the outside and from the inside, since it turns out to be a little bumpy.
  7. Then you can apply the base on the entire surface of the nail. I decided to do it in two steps. The first to apply a thin layer, after which to make a sawdust of all the irregularities on the extended piece, and the second to do.
  8. Done, you can do gel polish and even.

The purpose of such a repair for me is to give the nail to grow enough so that it can be leveled under the rest of the nails without sacrificing their length. That means two weeks is enough. As practice has shown, with such a repair under gel polish, you can walk longer, but I already wanted to update the color and cut off the overgrown length.

Photo of the nail after 2 weeks:

That's all, but I'll show the design with this color in a separate article. See you later!

Manicure is an integral part of the image of any fashionista. And how unpleasant it is when something happens to him, for example, a nail breaks. However, you do not need to run to a specialist to deal with this problem.

Why nails break

One of the most common reasons why nails break is because they are weakened by external factors, such as constant exposure to water and then drying. Nails become more brittle in winter when the humidity drops.

Another cause of brittle nails is chemicals, detergents, cleaning fluids, or nail polish removers. If you spend a ton of time cleaning your house without rubber gloves, your nails will be more prone to breakage! According to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, very rarely dry and brittle nails are caused by internal factors. You can determine this by examining your toenails. If they are strong and healthy, and the nails on the hands crack and break, then this is definitely the influence of the external environment.

How to fix a broken nail with special glue

There are many different ways to repair a broken nail, especially if it's just cracked rather than torn off. Below you will find several ways to restore using special nail glue.

Method #1: Tea bag

Repairing a broken nail only takes one tea bag. For this method, it is important that the nails are free of polish. But it's also a great trick for covering up a big crack you want to fix in your manicure.

  • Start with clean, polish-free nails.
  • Cut a piece out of the tea bag that will completely close the crack.
  • Cover with a small layer of nail glue.
  • Carefully, using tweezers, place the tea bag over the crack.
  • Let the glue dry completely.
  • Using a file, gently smooth the surface of the nail.
  • Apply a base coat and any nail polish.

Method #2: Cellophane

Using cellophane is similar to the tea bag method as it secures the nail along the crack so you can get a manicure.

  • Remove nail polish.
  • Clean the affected nail with alcohol.
  • Lay the cellophane over the nail, starting at the nail bed.
  • Gently smear the glue on the nail over the top of the cellophane, completely covering the nail.
  • Dip your nail in a special powder.
  • Carefully remove excess powder.
  • Repeat steps 4 to 6.
  • Cut off the excess cellophane that hangs from the end of the nail.
  • Create the desired shape of the nail.
  • Carefully file away any irregularities from the surface.
  • Decorate as usual!

Method #3: False Nails

If you've broken a nail, sometimes the easiest solution is to put acrylic nails on top. You can purchase these kits at any store.

  • Clean off nail polish.
  • Lightly smear the glue on the nail over the entire surface.
  • Press down on the acrylic nail, covering the entire surface.
  • Let dry.
  • Finish with varnish as usual.

However, do not forget that wearing false nails is unhealthy. Therefore, use this option as an emergency measure when you have to wait two or three days before you get to the master.

How to fix a broken nail without glue

Nail glue offers an easy fix for broken nails. But if it is not at hand, try other tricks!

Method #1: Clear Nail Polish

Sometimes all you need to repair a crack is a fresh coat of clear polish.

  • Choose the strongest top you have. A nail hardener will also work.
  • Walk the brush all over the nail, paying special attention to the crack.
  • Let dry.
  • Repeat a few more times to add strength to the nail.

Method #2: Gel

Many beauty centers consider gel to be a great option for strengthening nails. With it, you will add strength to the nail and fill the crack, you can even attach a peeled fragment.

  • Remove nail polish.
  • Apply the gel evenly over the entire surface of the nail.
  • Coat evenly with activating spray.
  • Apply a second coat of gel and spray. If a third layer is required, repeat the procedure.

How to prevent brittle nails

First of all, be careful with your nails. When shaping and filing nails, use fine-grained nail files. When cutting, follow the direction of growth. Wear rubber gloves when washing dishes or cleaning. When using hand cream, be sure to massage your cuticles.

If your nails are consistently brittle and weak, consider adding biotin to your diet. Biotin is a vitamin supplement that promotes the growth and strengthening of nails, hair or skin.

Finally, applying nail cream will help keep them strong.
