What you will need:

Threads, needle, scissors.

If you have an orange jumpsuit or pants and jacket, then most of your costume is complete! If not, then you can buy them, or you can sew them. But for this you will need about three meters of orange fabric, preferably fleece. It will be much easier for you to sew a jumpsuit.

From the remaining fabric you need to make a tail. Lay out a piece of fabric, approximately 45x25 cm, and roll it into a rope. The connection can be sealed with glue or carefully stitched.

Now take some yarn and make a lion's tail tassel, then insert it into the "tail" and secure with a needle and thread or a stapler.

The finished tail can be carefully sewn into pants or overalls by slightly opening the seam.

And now - the fun part! Lion's mane!

We want to offer you two options for making a lion's mane. Let's start with a simpler and cheaper method. It is ideal for those who have an unnecessary sweater and a couple of fur hats at home that you don’t mind cutting up.

You need to cut off the bottom part with elastic from the sweater, about 5 cm wide, and sew Velcro onto the ends. Please note that the length of the elastic should be the size of your head, that is, it should hold well, but at the same time it should not press!

So, we sewed Velcro, and now it's time to start sewing on wool. Open the hats and carefully sew the fur onto the entire elastic band of the sweater. You need to sew it so that the elastic itself is not visible.

All that remains is to make the lion's ears. To do this, take the remains of the orange fabric and draw ears on them. Then we cut out four such blanks and, if you have a small piece of foam rubber or padding polyester, then also two such parts from them. Now we need to sew them together as follows:

The ears are ready - sew them to the mane and that’s it, your lion is the real king of the party!

Now let's look at another version of the mane - made of yarn.

If you sewed a jumpsuit using our pattern, then all you have to do is trim it with yarn. Take a skein of yarn and cut it on both sides. This way you will end up with many pieces of yarn of approximately the same length. Now collect 4-5 threads and carefully sew them to the hood. This work is quite long-term and painstaking, but if you are not lazy, it will turn out very believable. How many skeins you use on your mane is up to you, but we can say with confidence that the more yarn you use, the fuller your mane will be.

When you're done with the fur itself, add ears to the mane.

To make the lion costume as believable as possible, use face painting, or regular cosmetics. Draw a nose, mustache and eyes like a lion, then your image will undoubtedly conquer everyone at the carnival!
