  • organic acids (cinnamon , l-coumaric, lemon, amber, apple) start regeneration processes in cells, contributing to the rejuvenation of mature, wrinkled, fading skin;
  • B vitamins , A (retinol), E (tocopherol), C (ascorbic acid) needed to nourish the various layers of the epidermis, retain youth, being active participants in metabolic processes occurring at the cellular level, contributing to increased production of collagen and elastin fibers, which make the skin supple and young;

Indications and contraindications

Having a wide range of effects on the skin, homemade masks with aloe are recommended to be done regularly for those who have already tried many cosmetic products to solve their problem, but have not achieved the desired result. Indications for their use may be:

  • oily skin : many substances of this plant normalize the activity of the subcutaneous glands, effectively ridding the face of oily gloss and greasy film;
  • dry : agave - a wonderful natural moisturizer;
  • signs of aging (wrinkles, wilting, yellowness, folds): aloe juice smoothes wrinkles (shallow), turns yellowness into a natural blush, relieves fatigue, straightens wrinkles;
  • mixed (combined), normal : face masks with aloe nourish the skin with all the vitamins and microelements it needs;
  • problematic : the plant has wonderful wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties, which are very pronounced in the treatment of acne and at any age;
  • sensitive : after agave masks, the skin is under an invisible but effective protective screen for a long time from various negative external influences;
  • dull : aloe helps to ensure that yellowish, grayish, earthy and other unhealthy shades of the face come off - after masks with it, the skin acquires a radiance of beauty and the most healthy color.

Often, beauties who want to take advantage of this gift of nature ask how such contradictory properties can coexist in one plant: abundant hydration can ruin oily skin, while for dry skin, the narrowing of already closed pores is detrimental. The answer is in numerous recipes for masks. In them you can find auxiliary, additional ingredients that can enhance or neutralize, soften the various properties of aloe. For example, fatty sour cream expands the pores and enhances the moisturizing effect of the agave, while lemon juice narrows the pores. Accordingly, sour cream masks with aloe are suitable for, and lemon ones for oily ones. Along with this, it must be remembered that the juice and pulp of this plant are a highly effective, very active biological substance. That's why masks based on them have a number of contraindications :

  • menstruation;
  • lactation;
  • pregnancy;
  • telangiectasia (blood capillaries are close to the surface of the epidermis);
  • hypertrichosis (abundant facial hair);
  • individual intolerance.

To avoid an allergic reaction, which is noted quite often on aloe, it is recommended to preliminarily be sure to test . Apply the mixture on the wrist (on the inner bend of the elbow), rinse after half an hour. Observe: there should be no irritating effects (itching, redness). In this case, you can fearlessly use the masks for their intended purpose.

Instructions for using masks with aloe for the face

When using aloe for facial skin care, the preliminary stage of preparing raw materials is of great importance. If it was carried out correctly, the mask will turn out to be amazing and truly healing.

  1. Cut off the lower leaves of the plant. Rinse them with water. Wrap in gauze. Put in the refrigerator for two weeks (if it does not tolerate, you can for one and a half). During this time, aloe will have time to release biological stimulants that are most beneficial to the skin. You can use the leaves immediately after cutting, but these substances have not yet had time to develop, and the mask will not be as effective.
  2. After the required time has passed, remove the leaves, carefully cut them lengthwise. You can use only aloe juice: squeeze it into a separate bowl. You can make masks from the pulp of the plant: grind cold leaves in a blender.
  3. Check the prepared raw materials for the presence of allergens for your skin.
  4. After the juice or pulp of aloe are mixed with other components of the mask, they can all be scrolled together again in a blender so that the mask is without lumps and lies flat on the skin. But it is not necessary to do so.
  5. Cosmetic oils (burdock, almond, peach, castor oil, jojoba and others), as well as honey and kefir, are recommended before mixing warm up to 40 degrees . But be extremely careful with this if the mask contains eggs (white, yolk) and esters. If the products are overheated to a hot state, the egg or its components will curdle, essential oils will become useless.
  6. Steam the skin with a steam bath (preferably with herbs), clean open pores from various skin debris with any scrub.
  7. Masks are applied to the face with a special spatula or fingertips along the massage lines, avoiding the skin around the eyes.
  8. During the cosmetic procedure, you need to take a lying position, relax, do not activate facial expressions, and, if possible, keep any emotions. On top of the mask, you can put gauze with slits for the eyes and nose.
  9. The time of action varies in each case individually. Much will depend on the other components of the mask: in the presence of cinnamon, salt, mustard, cognac, 15-20 minutes is enough. In other cases, the mask with aloe on the face can be left for half an hour.
  10. The mask is easily washed off with regular washing, after which the usual cream for daily use is applied to the skin.
  11. Frequency: as a prophylactic, in the absence of visible problems, masks can be done once a week, after a bath or bath. If the goal is to treat one of the skin ailments, you can apply them every three days. However, keep in mind that the general course of treatment should be no more than three weeks, after which the skin should be allowed to rest for a couple of weeks.

Learn how to prepare such masks with your own hands - and skin problems will no longer arise.

  3. Lemon juice. Squeeze the juice of a lemon to get 20 ml. Combine with the same amount of aloe juice, add 30 ml. warm water. Infuse the composition in the dark for 2 hours, then filter.
  4. Vitamin E. Buy at the pharmacy an oily solution of tocopherol, which is sold in ampoules. You need 2-3 ml. Mix the contents with 30 gr. aloe juice, add 40 ml. decoction of any medicinal plant.
  5. Vodka. The lotion is suitable only for oily or combination skin, because it has a drying effect. Mix 10 ml. vodka with 40 gr. drinking water and 20 ml. aloe juice. Insist hour, apply.

As you can understand, aloe vera juice has a wide range of applications and a wide range of actions. It is used for rashes, excess fat or, conversely, dryness. Prepare cosmetic ice, masks and lotions on your own.

Dear readers, good day! The discovery of recent weeks for me has become a well-known plant - aloe vera (tree-like aloe is also suitable). Now there is not a day when I would not use aloe for the face. Do you have this wonderful plant on your windowsill? If not, I recommend getting them - your skin will be eternally grateful to you)

By the way, not only the skin will be grateful. There are a lot of ways to use aloe, and you can’t tell about all of them in one article - I want to describe each of them in more detail. Today I will tell you about one of the most popular and widely known ways - the use of aloe for facial skin.

How many store products lure us with the presence of aloe in the composition - and it works, women buy these products, forgetting that you can just start a pot with this plant and use it in its pure form, getting much more benefit.

One of several aloe vera plants that grow in my garden. A very common plant in torpices

It seems that everyone knows about aloe, but few people use it. Most often, we resort to his help only in emergency situations - for example, with sunburn. I propose to “squeeze” the maximum benefit out of it (in the literal and figurative sense) - after all, this is really a tool available to everyone.

Let's remember the beneficial properties of aloe again:

  • deep hydration of the skin is the most important property from which all the rest follow. Moisturized skin is the most important condition for solving most of the problems that arise with it. Aloe quickly penetrates the skin and saturates it with moisture.
  • acceleration of skin regeneration processes - healing of the consequences of improper care, traces of pimples, wounds
  • smoothing the skin - after a few days of application, you can see the result. You will really feel and notice it. And you don’t need any creams using space technology - aloe is much more effective, and at the same time completely natural
  • normalization of the skin condition and elimination of oily sheen. Aloe is the #1 remedy for oily skin. Especially recommended for use in summer and also for those who live in hot climates
  • as a consequence of the previous paragraph, the elimination of inflammation and pimples
  • for sensitive skin with peeling or even dermatitis, aloe will also improve its condition, reduce itching and make the skin healthy and radiant
  • for some, aloe helps lighten age spots - not 100%, but worth a try

How to use aloe for face

I suggest using aloe instead of face cream. You can make masks with aloe in the composition as an additional care, but a greater effect can be achieved by applying it daily to the skin of the face.

You can use either fresh aloe leaves or refrigerated ones. The fact is that if you keep a sheet wrapped in a paper napkin in a cool dark place (on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator or in the vegetable section) for 14 days, then biological stimulants are formed in it, and it becomes as useful as possible. To be honest, I do not always do this with leaves - I usually use fresh, freshly picked leaves, and I am completely satisfied with the result.

It is best not to juice aloe ahead of time, as it quickly loses its beneficial properties. Before each use, I cut off a piece of aloe with a thickness of 0.5 - 1 cm, and put the rest in the refrigerator until the next time:

then I cut this piece in half to make it easier to get the juice:

and knead it with my fingers so that the juice is squeezed out (it looks more like a gel)

It is not necessary to do just that - squeeze aloe juice in any convenient way. This gel should be applied to a pre-cleansed face (I cleanse it). It is advisable not to use oil so that the aloe is better absorbed. Aloe juice can be applied to the entire face, including the area around the eyes and lips. It is even recommended to be specially instilled into the eyes, so it's okay if it gets a little into the eyes. Yes, and lips extra moisture does not hurt)

I am often asked what can be applied to the face instead of a cream - it happens that the use of oils and ubtans does not give the desired effect at the transitional stage from purchased cosmetics to natural care. So, aloe is the best option. It eliminates the feeling of tightness and dryness, while removing oily sheen and ideally moisturizing the skin. Gradually, you will even notice that the pores shrink and become less visible.

You can buy ready-made aloe juice at a pharmacy, but still it is preferable to use fresh, because pharmacy contains alcohol. At the same time, it is important to know:

  • suitable leaves of a plant whose age is 3 years or more. Then the leaves will have a maximum of useful substances
  • it is advisable not to cut the leaves with a knife, but gently break off at the base
  • always break off the lower leaves - the most juicy and "ripe"
  • aloe is not recommended for use during pregnancy
  • many sources indicate that it is better not to use aloe for rosacea

How else can you use aloe for the face:

  • squeeze the juice and freeze it. After washing, wipe your face with ice cubes
  • make a refreshing spray - pour 3/4 and 1/4 aloe juice into a spray bottle
  • add aloe juice to your favorite masks

I'm sure there are many more ways to use it. If you, dear readers, have any other ideas, please tell us about them in the comments! Thank you for coming and have a nice day)

    Anna, I wanted to note about the use during pregnancy - a couple of drops on my face and it became covered with red spots (((I was horrified and although earlier the burns and deep scratches from the cat were cured just with aloe juice, but here I didn’t expect such a reaction ... now I’m even afraid to try again .. but maybe there’s such an effect during pregnancy, although I’m still breastfeeding, maybe it’s not worth trying yet?

      Julia, yes, that’s how it is written in my book that it’s impossible during pregnancy. I think it’s also better not to use during feeding - try later)

        Thank you for your advice… I don’t know what alternative to find instead of a moisturizer yet..

          Julia, have you tried using beeswax-based balm for these purposes?

      2. Victoria

        Anya, thank you, it’s a great way out, besides, it’s a budgetary one)))
        During pregnancy, a gray-blue spot appeared on the chin,
        so I started smearing Aloe juice and the result is excellent))
        Thanks a lot!

        Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to apply aloe on the face at night and go to bed? Will there be anything?

  2. Anastasia S.

    Hello Anna! I would like to thank you for your articles! One year ago, my skin once again gave me a lot of problems and, not knowing what to do, I began to storm the Internet and found your site. Since then, I forgot about all the problems :)) Now my skin is, if not perfect, then in very good condition and it's all thanks to you!
    I have a question about aloe. My skin is prone to rosacea, and everywhere I find different information, somewhere they write that the use of aloe for such a problem is contraindicated, but somewhere it is recommended on the contrary. Maybe you know something about this?

  3. Olga

    Thank you very much for your advice, for 2 months they have been acting according to your rules) I really like it) but there is still not enough moisture (I have cupirosis on the wings of the nose, and there are also small areas with peeling. How can you moisturize with such problems? face?

  4. Anuk

    Anya, how long do you keep the juice on your face? For me it dries very quickly after application.

  5. Tatiana

    Anna, thanks again!
    I tried aloe juice - I liked it very much. For me, this advice was necessary like air: the fact is that in the morning I moisturize my skin with oils (according to your recipes), but at night I don’t want to apply oils, I want the skin to breathe - and as ordered by your new recipe. Thank you!

  6. Anna

    Hello Anya, I also wanted to thank you for the site, I found it quite recently, but when I found it, I could not tear myself away. I have already tried several times to switch to natural care, but sometimes I didn’t have enough patience or something didn’t work out. Here I am again and want to try. I have a question about aloe juice. If I only have a one-year-old plant, will there be any utility in it? And what about the bitter taste after application? Husband won't like it

  7. Diana

    Anna, thanks for the article! I have not tried aloe juice for my face yet, but I use it for hair, and I really like it. So far I’m using aloe juice from iHerba (I ordered the most “additive-free”), but I’m already growing my own :) I add juice to masks with egg, oil and honey for additional hydration and nutrition, and I also recently started adding a tablespoon to water or a decoction of herbs for rinsing hair. Feels like it softens the hair and makes combing easier. I read that you can also spray pure or diluted aloe juice on the scalp after washing - this allows you to keep your hair clean longer. I think that the length of such a spray will also benefit?

    I have oily skin, but after washing it becomes very dry and I can’t do without a cream, after reading about the moisturizing properties of aloe, I decided to use fresh aloe juice instead of cream, but still I had to apply cream, because after the juice was absorbed, the skin again became dry. I'll try to put the sheet in the refrigerator for 12 days, maybe then there will be moisture.

    1. Anna Post Author

      Anna, do not forget that most of the moisture comes from within. Those. if the body does not have enough fluid, no aloe will compensate for it - so drink plenty of plain water, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

      1. Anna

        And yet, aloe began to moisturize my skin after lying in the refrigerator, now after washing the cream, you can not use it. Anna, will this be correct or is it still impossible to use aloe juice all the time?

  9. Julia

    Anna, good afternoon! Thank you very much for the information you share with us. Anna, does aloe vera have the same beneficial properties as aloe vera?

  10. Antonina

    Hello Anna. I have a question. I heard about the whitening effect of aloe. What do you think, is it possible to neutralize this effect (my tan is quickly washed off, I have to maintain it constantly, for example, with honey lotion)? I would like to take advantage of the beneficial properties of this plant for the skin.

  11. Luba

    I have a mesh on my cheeks, for a long time. I wipe my face with aloe, cut a piece of the leaf lengthwise and have been applying halves along the massage lines for several months now. On the left cheek, the mesh is already almost invisible, and on the right it has become much better. I'm not the only one who noticed)
    I wash my face with oatmeal.
    I made ubtan on oatmeal, added violet, nettle, flax seed, turmeric. But I've been using it for quite some time now. 10 days.
    So do not be afraid of aloe for the mesh, try it.

  12. Elizabeth

    Hello Anna :) thank you very much for guiding me on the right path))) I really like your site! And here is the question. How do you take care of your hands and nails? As I understand it, you smear your hands with a balm if they dry or frost, but what is your daily care? And how to apply oils on nails? And is it necessary? Maybe it is not absorbed into the nail plate? Can you make a separate article on this topic?
