Easter in 2017 falls on April 16th. From April 16 to May 9, 2017, the XVI Moscow Easter Festival will be held, which will be dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of Igor Stravinsky. The sixteenth Moscow Easter Festival will be held with the support of the Moscow Government, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and with the Blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.

As part of the Moscow Easter Festival 2017, about one and a half hundred events will take place in Moscow, Istra, Ramenskoye and even St. Petersburg.

Over the years of its holding, the Moscow Easter Festival has turned from a musical holiday into one of the cultural symbols of national significance. A spiritual symbol - as a dedication to the Bright Resurrection, a patriotic one - as a tribute to the Great Victory, and, finally, for many Russians - it is a symbol of spring, hope, renewal.

The largest music forum in Russia annually gathers tens of thousands of listeners. Open to the widest range of guests, the Festival includes in its programs both classical masterpieces and rare-sounding works performed by the best masters of our time. At the same time, the Easter Forum maintains an affordable pricing policy and a huge number of charity concerts.

Created in 2002 on the initiative of the Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev and Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, the Easter Festival immediately won the love of the public and critics. The resonance caused by the First Festival, held with the support of the Moscow Government and with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II, determined its future fate: it was decided to hold the action annually. In 2003, with the support of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Festival became all-Russian.

From the first days of the existence of the Moscow Easter Festival, its social priorities were determined - charity, education and enlightenment - which are implemented in all four major festival blocks: symphony, chamber, choral programs and bell week.

Tickets for the opening (April 16) and closing (May 9) of the festival, as well as for the concert on May 7, can be bought on the website on this page.

In addition, the Easter Gift 2017 festival will be held in Moscow from 12 to 23 April. Detailed information - on ALLfest at the link.
