Knitting from terry yarn. Method of knitting terry cloth on knitting needles

The soft fluffy fabric proposed in this article is not as difficult to knit as it seems at first glance. The only difficulty is to ensure that the elongated loops are the same size. Well, of course, it will take more time than knitting a fabric of the same size, but with regular knitting.

The use of the motif with elongated loops is very wide: from blankets to baby booties. And remember that you will need twice as much thread, or even three, as for regular knitting.

So, you will need:

  • Threads of any quality, depending on the purpose of the product;
  • Knitting needles corresponding to the thread number.

Step 1. We knit all rows with facial loops: both even and odd. Start as usual: cast on the required number of stitches on the knitting needles and knit the first row or as many as you need according to your idea.

Step 2. Now we knit a row with elongated loops. Let us immediately note that you can use your finger, or you can use a ruler, which we wrap around with thread and remove after completing the row. Experienced knitters can experiment with what is most convenient for them. The advantage of using a ruler is that the loops are 100% identical. But it can interfere a little when knitting.

We form an elongated loop before each loop on the knitting needle. We thread the right knitting needle into the loop on the left knitting needle, wrap the thread around the middle finger and knit a loop on the knitting needle, leaving the main loop on the left knitting needle, do not tighten the air loop. Return the loop to the left needle. We knit two loops together. So we repeat the whole row.

Step 3. Row of knit stitches.

Step 4. A series of elongated loops.

Step 5. Close the canvas as usual.

How to knit terry cloth with knitting needles simply and without much effort with your own hands in ordinary home conditions. Even a novice needlewoman can master this method, let alone experienced knitters. This can be a beautiful homemade blanket, knitted with your own hands or as a gift to a loved one. It could be an interesting exclusive jacket, or anything. Your imagination will give you an interesting idea.

The result should be a soft and fluffy fabric, the main thing in this matter is to carefully ensure that the elongated loops are the same size; the type of knitted product primarily depends on this. This process will take more time than simply knitting a fabric of similar size. In this case, 2 times more yarn will also be used than for regular knitting.

Materials for making terry cloth:

  • selected yarn (wool, cotton, viscose, mixed or any other to choose from according to need),
  • suitable knitting needles for yarn by number depending on the thickness of the thread (how to select knitting needles for yarn is a separate topic),
  • interesting idea for creativity,
  • great desire
  • availability of free time.

Method of knitting terry cloth on knitting needles:

  1. First of all, you need to knit the required number of rows using the most common and simple knit stitches, all rows, both even and odd. That is, we cast on the loops on the knitting needles in the standard way and knit as many rows of knit stitches as needed.
  2. Now you need to knit a row with elongated loops. To do this, you need to use a special device so that the loops are elongated. You can use a ruler or some kind of stick of the diameter you need, but such a device must have the same diameter (width) along the entire length, then the elongated loops will be the same in length. The process of knitting an elongated loop: before each loop you need to thread the right knitting needle into the loop on the left knitting needle, then we wrap the thread around the device and knit a loop on the knitting needle, leaving the main loop on the left knitting needle, without tightening the air loop. After these manipulations, you need to return the loop to the left knitting needle. Now you need to knit two loops together. In this simple, but a little time-consuming and inconvenient way, you need to complete a whole series.
  3. Now you need to knit a whole series of facial loops.
  4. Now it’s time to knit a series of elongated loops.
  5. We close the canvas in the usual way.

If you cut the elongated loops after knitting the finished terry cloth, you will get a beautiful and very interesting, original woolen cloth (for this you need to knit from natural wool yarn). You can still comb it, and it will be, as they say, unearthly beauty.

Good luck in your creativity and the implementation of your creative plans in needlework!

Socks are always needed for children, as they literally “burn” on restless feet. This is especially true during the cold season. For winter you need warmer and thicker socks. For example, terry. They can be made in a couple of days, using leftover yarn of different shades and colors. Such socks knitted on 3 spokes.

How to knit socks using 3 knitting needles? In fact, everything is quite simple, since the knitting process is no different from making socks on 4 knitting needles classic"grandmother's" way.

So, in this master class we will use leftover terry yarn from different companies (but the same in thickness and composition) and knitting needles of the same size. Size of finished socks: 21-21 cm along the insole (for a child 5-7 years old).

The fastest way to knit socks

First, measure the volume of the leg and calculate the required number of loops (I got 30). Then we distribute all the loops on 3 knitting needles.

Let's start knitting an elastic band.

Although, no patterns are visible on terry yarn. So, if you wish, you can safely start with the front stitch. After 10 rows, the elastic band is ready.

Next you need to knit a few more rows, now with stockinette stitch.

After that we start tie the heel. To do this, you will need to divide all the loops into 2 parts and knit only one part (15 loops).

We knit 10-12 rows.

Now we begin to make decreases. Divide all 15 loops into 3 parts. We knit 4 loops, then 2 together, 4 more loops, 2 together and 4 more loops. Turn over and knit 3 loops, 2 together, 4 loops, 2 together, 3 loops. Turn it over again. We knit this way until there are 4-5 loops left on the knitting needle.

As soon as the heel is ready, we again transfer all the loops (including the side loops of the heel) onto 3 knitting needles.

In this place, if it is not convenient, you can use 4 knitting needles.

If the total number of loops is more than 30, then you can make several decreases, then knit in the circle, changing colors.

When 24-26 rows are knitted, you can start knitting the sock (toe).

To do this, at the beginning of knitting, you need to perform one decrease on each knitting needle in each row.

Decrease to 3 stitches. We tie them together and the sock is ready. We hide and cut the threads.

Likewise knitting second sock.

What is good about choosing terry yarn? Because the quality of the knitting is not visible. Therefore, beginning knitters prefer to work with it. The second plus is softness and one of the requirements for what children's socks should be. And the third positive point is that socks knitted knitting needles and very quickly.

You will understand all the subtleties of this pattern in practice. Just try and you will succeed. At the end of the work, you can cut the loops and a woolen fabric will come out. You can also comb it, then the threads will fluff up and a more realistic effect of a fur fabric will be achieved.
