This time I was not going to be an unrequited, intimidated sheep, I planned to keep everything under complete control: I went through all the maternity hospitals in Moscow, talked with doctors, met home midwives and those who accompany women to the maternity hospital, learned about the existence of such a profession as " "- a woman who supports a woman in labor morally. My husband and I seriously considered the issue (but realized that we were not ready to take such a risk) and in the last month we almost left to give birth in Israel.

And in the end, we chose a maternity hospital with excellent reviews, a serious attitude towards naturalness, breastfeeding, partner childbirth and other things that are important to us. It cost like a plane.

But on the day of the birth, everything again went completely wrong, as planned! The fact is that our girl was born right in the car, on the way to the hospital.

The most amazing thing is that even a couple of weeks before this event, I read in the pregnant community the story of childbirth in a taxi and the hair on my head moved in horror. But there was a girl - flint, a girl - a steel blade, she and her husband were originally going to give birth at home, they were preparing, in the end, the midwife directed their actions by phone. Everything was different for us.

So why did it happen at all? How could we delay the process so much that we didn't make it to the hospital in time? No, the fact that we live in Kurkino, and the maternity hospital on Leninsky has nothing to do with it, although this version of the acquaintances was the main one, as far as I understand.

The birth began on Sunday morning, Moscow was empty, we were accompanied by the police - in total, we got from home to our destination in half an hour. But it did not help.

We had two objective reasons:

The birth lasted only two and a half hours - from the first hint of a contraction to the girl in my arms.
The last two weeks have been very strong and painful for me, so for the first hour I calmly embroidered, marking the time of contractions with the program on my phone.

There was no obvious increase or anything that could cause me to panic (and anything causes me to panic) - there was not. Then I got ready for about an hour (I remembered the doctor’s phrase that the more opening you walk up to the maternity hospital, the easier the birth will be) and we calmly left. I took my embroidery with me: do you understand how uncritical the situation at the time of leaving the house (half an hour before the end!) was, if I also expected to increase my embroidery?!

I had quite painful, but completely non-fatal contractions, they were very well relieved by lumbar massage: with fists, intensely in the place where the dimples are.

And another big ball - I ran to it to jump in contractions when I dressed in the hospital and collected a cosmetic bag. That is, everything - as in the first birth, which lasted almost twelve hours, along with all the stimulation and extrusion.

Sitting in the car was painful, but I wasn’t going to, it always seemed to me that it was best to give birth on your knees and lean your hands on something high. So the Civic chair was perfect for this: the priest was in the direction of the windshield, my knees were on the seat, I leaned on the high back with my hands, I hung on it during contractions.

At first we drove slowly, then the contractions became more frequent (but they were not too painful! In the process, I selflessly resented why my husband did not start an immediate lower back massage for me?! Well, at least with one hand?! Then it turned out that I was extremely quiet, and he didn't know when that moment was.

We drove faster and faster, and I prayed with all my might that the opening would be a full five centimeters when we arrived. Well, at least three! Of course, I understood that with my weak contractions, such happiness would not shine for me ... But to whom did logic interfere with prayer?! And suddenly - I felt a slight hint of an attempt. I didn't believe it at first. Then another, a little stronger. No, this clearly could not be!

We have not been able to reconstruct the subsequent events to the end. But the approximate chronology is below, all these items fit in thirty-nine seconds: then we checked it by phone call: the husband called the doctor when he heard from me about the attempts and hung up as soon as the girl was born.

I inform my husband that I seem to be trying (and, of course, I am still absolutely sure that this is some kind of misunderstanding, we will now arrive at the maternity hospital and they will sort it out), he presses the gas all the way and rushes.
Almost at the same moment, the police notice him, and he - them. Slows down and jumps out of the car in order to ask for an escort to the hospital.
At that very moment, I hear a strange “bang!” and hot water pours out of me. At this point, I get very, very scared. No, I'm not afraid to give birth in the car, I'm afraid that it will be very painful for me to go to the hospital.
I shout: "Water!" My husband runs around the car from the driver's door to my passenger door.
While he is running, I have a bright idea to take off my panties - just in case. And when I try to do this, I feel that in my shorts under the skin is not at all what is usual, but something solid - a skull?!
I scream: "Head!!!"

Here again it should be noted that everything happened very, very quickly. All the reflections below took a fraction of a second.

And then I remember an article I read recently. There, a very old American midwife, a kind of mother, shares her observations. In short, her idea is that these obligatory and immutable ten centimeters of opening, to which in no case should you push, appeared after the woman in labor was turned from a physiological vertical position to a horizontal one convenient for the doctor.

In general, I dare to try. Experiment! Well, or I just rationalize for myself that I am unable to stop this train and cannot be restrained by any forces.

And then I don't understand what's going on. I don't tense my muscles, there's no "Push! Push!!!”, as in films, no “work”, special attempts, nothing. I just relax my muscles and let something stronger than me happen. Everything happens by itself - the child just slips into my skirt. 2.5 hours from start, thirty-nine seconds to get out.

For the first few moments, I just stand in the same position, stunned, not really understanding what happened, then I pull my girl out of my skirt, yell at the traffic cops to close the doors they look in, trying to understand what is happening, the husband brings towels, which I cooked for the maternity hospital, we wrap the girl and, accompanied by two police motorcycles, rush to the maternity hospital.

In the process, my biggest worry is how I will go to the hospital, sorry, in a long skirt with a baby girl in her arms, attached by an umbilical cord to the placenta inside. But in the parking lot of the maternity hospital, we were already met by nurses who bandaged the umbilical cord right in the car, the husband solemnly cut it, and we were already taken separately with the new girl to the delivery room.

Two minutes after birth

There it turned out that I had one small abrasion in the place of the old seam, and everything else was in perfect condition. It also turned out that I didn’t have time to take off my underpants - I still don’t understand how it happened.

Eventually: I remember that after the last childbirth, for a long, long time, this state of fragility-extension-torn, plowed up, as if a tractor drove over me, persisted for a long, long time. I didn’t feel my muscles, and although I didn’t have severe tears, I was scared of almost everything.

Five days have now passed - and I do not feel anything unusual, everything is exactly in the same condition as before the birth.

What amazes me the most is how easy it turned out to be.

You see, I, as the person who has always lived with the conviction (and his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother also lived!) that conception occurs in a test tube.

That is, at first you are injected with a lot of hormones, then you come to the doctor and take the eggs, then they fertilize, then they give you a boost, all with hormone therapy, and so on. It is long, complicated and high-tech.

And then I was suddenly told that for the same thing, there is also sex. And I'm all like this: why have you been silent all these years?!

Now I have something like this feeling from childbirth: why was it hidden from me that I could do all this myself? That I need a doctor only in case of some kind of emergency?!

Despite the fact that I am squeaky, paranoid and hysterical with a very low pain threshold.

And yes, I am terribly proud of myself: after the birth of my son, I was almost sure that I would never have been able to give birth to anyone on my own, because I would never have endured that terrible birth pain and in general.

And now all my ideas about this process are blown up, you understand?! Suddenly, it turned out not to be a complex medical procedure, almost an operation, but a normal physiological process that a healthy body can handle on its own.

P.S.: When I tell this story, for some reason people immediately ask how my poor husband survived all this. I can say that he survived it - just fine.
