It would seem that we have lived another year, and for some reason the wedding is made of paper: but paper is even more fragile than chintz. This is due to the fact that at this time a child usually appears in the family, which adds trouble to the young family (but first of all, of course, joy). However, as our wise ancestors knew, not all marriages pass this test, and by the second anniversary, the spouses are already quarreling more than once and trying to pack up their things. And this has nothing to do with the fact that people got married unsuccessfully. This is a normal period in the life of a family, so to speak, a transition to a new stage. Families that successfully pass this stage become doubly strong.
- Third anniversary- “leather”. Leather is already much stronger than chintz and paper. This means that, having gone through all the difficulties and trials of the first two years, the family has finally reached its first significant date. Like soft skin, the spouses became more accommodating, learned to adapt to each other, and their relationship became more flexible.
- Fourth Anniversary- “linen”. By the fourth birthday of the family, the spouses had already acquired property and, first of all, linen tablecloths, which indicate the family’s wealth and are more expensive than chintz sheets. Preparations for the wedding begin on Monday. The day, as a rule, turns out to be busy, so on Tuesday the bride relaxes with her bridesmaids and looks forward to the moment of entering a new life.
The dowry is being prepared on Wednesday. If earlier these were homemade tablecloths and towels, now a kind of “tax” is paid on items that a modern family cannot do without.
Thursday is one of the most interesting “preparatory” days, since it is associated with the ancient custom of “making the bed.” Relatives and bridesmaids must tidy the bed immaculately. Rarely does anyone cope with this task the first time - the work is scrupulously assessed either by the groom himself or his mother.
On Friday, a loaf of bread is baked, and no one misses the opportunity to sprinkle flour on the bride. The Greeks believe that if this funny ritual is not performed, the family will languish in poverty and deprivation.
