Summer dresses with elastic at the waist. We sew dresses, several simple models. Elasticated waist

A light summer dress will highlight your femininity and charm. And if you know how to sew and love to sew, then with our patterns you can easily create a comfortable summer outfit with your own hands. We wait all year for summer, when we can wear light, airy clothes. Of course, we want to update our wardrobe with a beautiful summer dress, perhaps more than one.

Many will go on vacation, and new summer dresses, both short and floor-length, hand-sewn, are simply necessary. Even if you yourself are not very good with a sewing machine, it’s worth trying to update your summer wardrobe with the help of patterns and instructions. We hope that you will like one of the proposed cut options.

Before we start cutting, let's look at the size options so that we know which size corresponds to which data.

This will make it easier for us to decide on the pattern, because the size of the product is not always mentioned. The table is clear enough for you to determine the size yourself.

In hot weather, a loose-fitting summer dress, sewn with your own hands, may come in handy. We sew a dress for the beach. Fabrics such as silk, satin, linen, cambric, viscose, and light acetate are suitable for such a dress. Even the cheapest silk will do: silk satin, silk chiffon. But by no means polyester; in synthetics the body does not “breathe” at all.

Keep in mind that viscose, especially wet, tends to stretch when worn. And silk, like linen, always shrinks after washing.

Before sewing the product yourself, try sewing a small piece of this fabric; you may have to change the needle or threads in the machine. It is best to buy needles from Schmetz and Organ. The size of this beach dress is 46-48. If you would like to make a pattern for a different size, please measure your chest circumference. Next, on the pattern, instead of 25 cm (chest line), we set aside ¼ of the girth of your chest + 1 cm seam allowance + 2.5-3 cm for light volume of the figure. We do the same with the volume of the hips: instead of 27 cm (hip circumference), we set aside ¼ of the volume of your hips + 1 cm seam allowance + 2.5-3 cm for light volume of the figure.

We choose the depth of the neckline ourselves. It’s better not to make a large cut right away; it’s never too late to trim off the excess. We make the length of the dress at our discretion. Don't forget to leave fabric for the drawstring, cord waistband and four small cords to tighten the shoulders. We ourselves mark with chalk the place of the belt-cord, it will be just below the waist. We baste the drawstring to the intended line. We adjust it from the front side, tucking the cuts on both sides. If the drawstring is on the front side, then on the drawstring itself two longitudinal or round holes are made for the exit of the belt-cord. We sew the holes by hand with our own hands. The belt-cord should move freely in the drawstring.

Next, we begin to sew the shoulders. We sew the shoulders together so that there is 2.5 cm of fabric left for the cord. We iron the shoulder seams and sew them, folding the fabric inward. We should have 4 drawstrings on two shoulders. We thread the cords through them, tighten them a little and tie them together. The shoulder turns out to be slightly gathered. We hem the bottom, the hand-sewn dress is ready. Choose a plain fabric or with a large floral pattern, this is very popular. We sew the selected classic model.

A dress with a peplum is a very feminine dress; it favorably emphasizes the features of the figure. Let's try to sew such a dress with our own hands using a simple and understandable pattern. A peplum is a wide frill that is sewn at the waistline. This dress will appeal to most ladies. So, ladies with light weight can visually increase the volume on their hips with the help of a peplum, and for overweight ladies a peplum will help hide the excess. In this case, the peplum should be sewn above the waistline. The only thing to remember is that such dresses look best on a tall or medium-sized lady. We are sewing a beautiful dress for the summer.

Our pattern is given for size 50 (see table above).

The pattern includes a back (2 parts) and a cut-off front (2 parts), the bottom is separate, it is a straight skirt consisting of two parts. The peplum is cut separately. On the pattern, segments T1H1 and TN have the same length, which is equal to the length of the peplum. TT1 is the waist line. If you are sewing from thin fabric, then it is better to duplicate the peplum with lining material, possibly from the main fabric. Then the peplum will keep its shape better. It will look original and interesting if the peplum has an asymmetrical length: short in front, long in back. Don't forget to baste and then sew in the zipper on the back of the piece. We process the neckline and armholes as in.

How beautiful and romantic dresses with a full skirt look. This model can have many options, with or without sleeves, with elastic, with a zipper, and so on. The dress softly fits the figure at the waist, and is maximally widened towards the bottom. It is quite possible to sew such a dress with your own hands. If you yourself are not very good at sewing, we would recommend sewing such a dress with elastic, then you will not have to particularly adjust it to your figure. If you lengthen the sun skirt, you will get a floor-length dress. The skirt can be made not so fluffy, for example, half-sun.

The pattern is suitable for sizes 48-50 (see table above). Fabric: silk, chiffon, satin, stretch cotton, and so on. If the length of the skirt is 55-60 cm, then with a fabric width of 140 cm you will need approximately 2.5 meters of fabric. In this model, the hidden zipper is located on the left side.

Sequence of cutting and sewing

  1. After you have decided on the length and style of the dress for the summer, it is better to first make a drawing on paper. If you are a beginner seamstress, take your time cutting the fabric, make a drawing, pin the paper and try it on. If everything fits, then pin the pattern to the fabric and cut it out, not forgetting the seam allowances (1-2cm). The size of the allowance depends on the fabric. If the fabric “crumbles”, you need to take a larger allowance. We lay out the cut details, choosing any fraction.
  2. The armhole and neckline are finished with a facing cut on the bias. We sew all the darts and iron them. We overcast the side seams of the bodice and grind them down. On the left side we leave a hole for sewing in a zipper. Press the side seams.
  3. Stitch and iron the shoulder seams.
  4. We process the sections of the armhole and throat with a facing cut on the bias.
  5. We sew the seam of the skirt, pulling the seam with our own hands. We do not sew the seam all the way down, leaving room for the zipper. The circle skirt must be pulled down from the waist, it should sag.
  6. Along the waist allowance, we manually assemble it using a small “needle forward” seam. We tighten the waist.
  7. We pin the bottom of the bodice and the top of the skirt with the right sides facing inward, aligning the side cut.
  8. We sew the bodice into the skirt. We sew the zipper into the side seam.
  9. Iron the seam connecting the bodice with the skirt towards the bodice.
  10. Align the bottom of the skirt and hem it with a closed hem. Iron the bottom. The dress is ready.

Using the same pattern, you can sew a long floor-length dress. For example, here is a long floor-length dress with an asymmetrical sun skirt.

The cut of this dress is different in that we add the following part to the main half-sun:

Long dress master class

You can sew a long floor-length summer dress with your own hands if you use our master class. An original long dress with a fitted silhouette will highlight the advantages of your figure. A floor-length dress can be worn both during the day and in the evening, on a holiday or in a cafe. The dotted line indicates the facing.

Summer has come - a time of rest and vacation, when you can walk all day long along the seashore or the summer streets of the city. And, of course, in beautiful dresses!

If you haven’t found a suitable summer outfit in the store - it’s too expensive, the right size is not available, or delivery from the online store takes a very long time, then there is a way out - make the outfit yourself! For example, we will sew a dress with a flounce on the shoulders - an original outfit for summer holidays and parties!

You will need:

  • fabric of your favorite color;
  • matching threads;
  • rubber;
  • needle;
  • tape measure;
  • scissors;
  • iron.

How to sew a dress with a flounce on the shoulders, cutting and sewing technology

It is necessary to decide on the width and length of the dress. Use a pre-prepared measuring tape. We told you how to take measurements in.

Next you need to cut 4 rectangles: 2 parts of the base of the dress 66 cm wide (POG + 15 cm + 3 cm for seams, for example, for size 48: 48+15+3=66 cm) and 90 cm long (the length can be any desired ); 2 flounce parts – length 130+2=132 cm and width 30+2=32 cm, where 3 and 2 are seam allowances.

Do you want to sew a summer dress without a pattern? We have it for you!

We sew the base parts along the side seams, leaving 25 cm long sections for the armhole at the top of the dress unstitched. We iron the seams and overcast them. We put a finishing stitch along the armholes.

We sew the side sections of the flounce, iron the seams and overcast them.

We connect the middle of the base and the flounce with pins, we get a T-shaped dress, see photo. Sew the flounce to the base from armhole to armhole, front and back.

We hem the top of the dress with a hem seam with a closed cut, leaving a 1.5 cm area unstitched for threading the elastic. Seam width – 1.5 cm.

We measure the elastic - the length is equal to the circumference of the shoulders. We thread the elastic band, connect its ends on the sewing machine, and stitch the remaining area.

We hem the bottom of the flounce and dress with a hem seam with a closed cut or an open one and process the cut manually or using an overlocker.

You can sew a belt.

This summer dress can be cut and sewn in one evening. A great idea for a romantic walk or summer holiday.

By the way, these dresses are sold in Ali Express, and we sewed such a beautiful dress ourselves, spending only money on buying fabric and 2-3 hours on cutting and sewing!

Summer dress with elastic!

It is ideal for a seaside resort, as it goes on without straps, which helps get rid of white stripes on the shoulders.)) And also, thanks to the stretchability of the elastic bands, you can easily put on a swimsuit without taking off your dress.
The pattern of such a dress is a regular rectangle or trapezoid. And the dress takes on its shape after sewing in elastic bands.

The diagram shows patterns of white and yellow beach dresses from photographs. The flounces are not drawn on the pattern, since sewing them on will not be difficult for anyone.)) The back pattern is absolutely identical to the front pattern.

First, let's prepare the dress for sewing in elastic bands!
We cut out the back and front of the dress, put them together with the right sides inward and machine sew the side seams in a straight line.
Now we immediately process the top edge of the dress (so as not to fray). We just fold it inward and stitch it. For those who don’t have a machine, you can just go to the nearest studio and they’ll tell you everything in 5 minutes)) You can immediately process the bottom edge and sew on the flounce, or you can do it later – as you wish.

There are 2 ways to sew in elastic bands: manually and by machine.
Now stores offer a huge selection of elastic bands: tight and soft-stretch, narrow and wide, simple and decorated with an openwork pattern. There are spools of elastic threads (elastic threads) - we will need them for the machine sewing method!!!

1. Manual sewing method. For those who don’t have a machine, or who are not very comfortable with it)) For this method we will need soft-stretch, not too tight and not too wide elastic bands (4-6 cm wide), they can be just straight or with an openwork pattern - whichever you choose) ). The only thing is, if your child likes to pull you by the hem of the dress, and you don’t want to do a striptease in public, then you can take the top elastic band tighter and wider than the others so that it holds the dress tighter.
First, you need to mark on the dress where the elastic bands will be sewn in with lines. In front of the mirror, hold the dress to yourself and mark the waist and chest lines with chalk - i.e. We outlined the required levels for sewing in elastic bands. Then place the dress on the floor and use a ruler to draw lines between these two marks on the front and back of the dress.
Now we need to cut several rubber bands to the length we need. To do this, they wrapped themselves in an elastic band, but not too tightly so that it would not dig into the body. And cut it off (the edge of the cut can be scorched with a lighter so that it does not unravel.) We cut off the required number of elastic bands according to this “template”.
Immediately a piece of elastic was connected into a ring, a needle and thread were taken and secured with stitches.
Now our task is to sew this elastic into the dress with even tension. If you sew with uneven tension, you will get more gathers in one place than in another.
This is very easy to achieve.

In the diagram above, we depicted with a pink dotted line the elastic band and its connection with the dress. On the elastic band sewn into a ring, make four marks with a pencil at equal distances from each other. There is no need to measure anything with a ruler; we do it as in the diagram below:

In the same way, we make marks on the dress, on the line intended for sewing in the elastic.
Now we combine the marks on the elastic with the marks on the dress and sew the elastic in these places. Sewed. Now we make new marks in the middle of the resulting four segments (on the elastic and on the dress), and sew the marks again. And so on until all the elastic is sewn.
Then we take the next piece of elastic and sew it to the next line on the dress in the same way. And so on.
I assure you that it is not as difficult as it seems! Everything happens very quickly! The whole process will only take one evening!

2. Machine method of sewing in elastic!
We buy elastic threads at the store (they are wound on spools in the same way as regular ones). We take the bobbin (shuttle) out of the machine and wind the elastic thread around it, i.e. apply slight tension when winding. We thread the outside of the machine with regular thread. But in adjusting the tension of this upper thread, we make some relaxation (so that it is sewn not with tight stitches, but with slightly loosened ones). Anyone who sews on a machine will understand me. Loosening is necessary so that the bobbin thread (elastic thread) moves freely in the seam, this will give us the opportunity to tighten it later after sewing.
We threaded the machine, put a test piece of fabric under the presser foot and started stitching - check how the seam fits, the degree of weakening of the top stitch, whether this weakening allows you to move freely and tighten the lower elastic thread.
This is what this line looks like in the photo:

Or there is another simplified machine method for sewing elastic. Many modern machines have a figured stitch function, i.e. not straight, but for example, in a zigzag. Set the zigzag mode, place the fabric under the foot, and along the marked line in the middle of the foot, place an elastic thread on top of the fabric and attach it to the fabric. It turns out that the zigzag stitch presses the elastic thread without piercing it, since it lies on top of the fabric, in the middle of the zigzag. Now you can calmly tighten it and tighten it.

Hi all. In the midst of a hot summer, you suddenly realize that you are missing a couple more summer dresses. Let's try to sew a dress without a pattern quickly.

Exclusive outfit

If you decide to sew a dress with your own hands, then you can give free rein to your imagination by coming up with something that you won’t see on any girl.

Let's get down to business!

First, let's sew a straight dress. You will need two lengths of knitted fabric. If the material does not crumble, the sleeves and neckline can be left untreated and the bottom folded.

This model can be any length.

Party outfit

You have been invited to a party, but there is no new outfit. In 2 hours you will update your wardrobe by sewing a wonderful evening dress from stretch fabric without using a pattern.

The little black dress has always been considered the most elegant outfit.

  1. Take 1 meter of material, fold it in half.
  2. Layer a tank top with wide shoulders over it.
  3. Outline the top, then set the desired length from the waist line.
  4. Then cut out and sew the side and shoulder seams.
  5. If the neck is small, increase its size.
  6. Next we sew the sleeves. We cut out 2 rectangles, making a width that corresponds to the circumference of the arm at the widest point, and the length can be taken as desired - 45-60 cm.
  7. Attach the rectangles to the shelves and cut along the armhole line.
  8. Now the resulting sleeves need to be sewn on.

Following the description, you will get a great outfit for the evening.

Festive dress in 15 minutes

  1. Take stretch material: length - 160 cm, width - 140 cm.
  2. Fold in 4 layers. Measure slightly below your waist. Round the edges.
  3. From the middle, measure a quarter of the measurement, draw a line up 60 cm.
  4. Sew very evenly.
  5. Cut out the neckline, 40 cm long and 4 cm deep. The outfit is ready!

Let's go on vacation!

If you are planning to spend a vacation at sea, then a beach dress is an indispensable attribute of a summer holiday.

Let's try to sew some beach outfits.

Drawstring dress without pattern

Draw a rectangle, the width and length of which will depend on the desired dimensions. The shelf and back of the product will be the same. The shelf can be decorated with embroidery or beads so as not to be confused.

With drapery

We take thin flowing material. It can be satin, silk, muslin, crepe. The product will only have one seam on the back.

  • The length of the rectangle is 2-3 meters (it all depends on your size and the “density” of the folds).
  • In the center of the rectangle we make an incision to the depth of the neckline: 5-10 cm.
  • We design the upper edge as a drawstring into which we insert 2 ribbons. At the back, the ends of the ribbons are sewn into the seam on the back, and at the front we take them out of the drawstring into the slit and, when putting the product on, tie it at the back of the neck.
  • We tie it under the chest with a ribbon.

Light sundress

Take the T-shirt, attach it to the fabric and do everything as shown in the picture.

Floor length dress

The long one is sewn very quickly, but it looks charming!

How to sew:

  1. You will need fabric: two lengths from shoulders to waist with a width of 140 cm, plus 10 cm for hem. Length from waist to floor for thin ladies.
  2. For the top, take a rectangle and fold it in half. You will get a length from the shoulders to the waist plus 10 cm, cut it.
  3. From the edge, set aside for the width of the sleeve - 25 cm.
  4. From the bottom up we set aside 45 cm. Between the sleeves we measure the width of the hips plus 10-12 cm for freedom of movement.
  5. Cut it. You will get sleeves and a front at once.
  6. We sew the side seams and where we made the cut for the sleeves.
  7. We turn the top 10 cm. We sew for the elastic, leaving a small frill. Insert the rubber band.
  8. We also turn up the sleeves by 10 cm. We sew for an elastic band. Insert the rubber band.
  9. We sew the rectangle for the skirt and make pleats or gathers at the waistband.
  10. Sew on the top and skirt.
  11. We decorate the waist with a wide belt.

This pattern will make a great summer blouse.

How to quickly sew a home dress without a pattern

A house dress should be comfortable and beautiful.

  1. Fold the fabric in half and attach the T-shirt.
  2. Circle the top of the T-shirt to the waist, then gradually begin to increase it. Don't forget to leave seam allowances.
  3. Cut out and sew the shoulder and side seams.
  4. Fold, grind the neckline and sleeves.
  5. For convenience, you can sew on pockets.

No one will have such a thing

Let's take measurements for sewing a tunic:

  1. Tunic length.
  2. Product width (hip circumference + 5-10 cm for freedom).
  3. Sleeve width (arm circumference + 5-7cm).

Transfer your measurements onto the fabric, not forgetting the seam allowances.

Rectangle tunic for large sizes. This product will hide figure flaws.

  1. Choose a light, flowy fabric.
  2. Fold in 4 times to cut out the neckline and put on.
  3. You can sew a ribbon to the bottom and tie it at the sides.

Another option for a light tunic, which is also suitable for sewing home clothes if you increase the length. Transfer the measurements to the material and start sewing!

Both the tunic and the dress! Just a few stitches and you have a beautiful piece in your wardrobe. Even a novice dressmaker can sew using this pattern.

If you decorate the tunic with beautiful lace, you will get a cute little dress.

Knitwear can make a beautiful outfit with a peplum.

  1. We fold the material lengthwise, put a T-shirt on it, and trace it.
  2. 2 parts are cut out. If the peplum will be sewn in, the waistline should be cut.
  3. A rectangle is cut out of knitwear, the length of which is equal to the waist circumference and increased by 2 times.
  4. The length of the peplum is from 10 to 20 cm. Lightly smear it on a machine with a weak thread tension.
  5. Fold the top and bottom parts, insert a peplum between them, and grind them down.
  6. We process the neckline, sleeves, and bend them.

Finally, I would like to appeal to novice dressmakers: sew an outfit for a test without a pattern from a simple material, and then feel free to sew from whatever you want.

With the onset of summer, you always want to refresh your wardrobe with new colorful dresses. But you don’t always have the time and desire to go around dozens of stores in search of the right outfit. In addition, different retail outlets often offer identical models. But you can save time and money if you sew a simple one yourself. In addition, this product will be unique, and among your loved ones you will be known as a needlewoman.

A summer dress usually has a simple cut. Therefore, sewing a dress yourself will not be difficult even for an inexperienced seamstress. Summer outfits often focus on fabric. Moreover, it should be natural and “breathe”. In this regard, we will be completely tripled by linen, chintz or cotton.

Before you start sewing with your own hands, preparation is necessary. The most important moments of the preparatory stage are accurately taken measurements and a correctly constructed pattern. After all, the slightest mistake in these aspects can cause the dress to be damaged. Especially if the choice fell on sewing fitted models.

Basic measurements that need to be taken to start sewing a dress with your own hands:

  • neck girth;
  • shoulder length;
  • circumference of the chest and above the chest;
  • hip and waist circumference;
  • length from back to waist;
  • length of the future dress.

A simple dress with elastic bands is perfect for a seaside resort, an evening walk or informal meetings. This model will convince any, even the most stubborn girl, that it is very easy to sew a summer dress yourself. The pattern of such a dress is a regular rectangle or trapezoid. And the shape of the product is given with the help of elastic bands.

So, let's begin:

  1. We cut out the back and front parts from the fabric, which should be identical to each other. When creating a pattern with your own hands in the form of a rectangle or trapezoid, take into account the measurements taken earlier.
  2. We fold the resulting cut parts and sew the side seams.
  3. Select and mark the places to sew elastic bands on the dress. They can be determined by holding the product to yourself.
  4. We cut the elastic bands to the same length. We calculate the length as follows: wrap yourself with an elastic band so that you feel comfortable.
  5. We connect the elastic band into a ring and roughly fasten it to the dress with stitches. By stretching the elastic evenly, it can be sewn to the dress. We do this with all rubber bands.
  6. If desired, you can sew a frill and attach it to the product.

This summer dress is sewn very simply and without wasting time. Dresses made using this principle open up opportunities for creativity. By experimenting with fabrics, location and tension of elastic bands, you can create various models with your own hands.

The sheath dress has long inspired the sympathy of many women because of its elegance, simplicity and versatility. A summer dress of this style should be presented in at least one copy in a woman’s wardrobe. However, you can always replenish this amount if you sew the “case” yourself. Plus it's incredibly easy to do.

So, let’s sew a sheath dress with our own hands:

  1. We cut out two rectangles from the fabric, the width of which will be equal to the circumference of the hips + 4 cm. The length will correspond to the length of the future dress.
  2. Cut out the neck of the desired shape from the rectangles.
  3. Let's retreat 15 - 20 cm from the upper edges of the rectangle and mark it with chalk.
  4. Starting from the mark, draw smooth lines in chalk that narrow at the waist and widen at the hips. It is important that at the narrowest point the distance between the lines is equal to the semicircle of the waist + 4 cm.
  5. We sew the resulting patterns and sew the edges. For convenience, we insert a zipper on the side or on the back of the dress.

The sheath dress is characterized by a rather fitted silhouette. Therefore, in order not to experience inconvenience in the future, when choosing fabric, pay attention to elastic materials.

A style such as the sun flare has gained incredible popularity among women of all ages. Circle skirts can be long or short, sewn with a belt and elastic, in the shape of a half-flare or double sun. Skirts, sundresses and dresses are sewn in this style. Making a sun flare pattern with your own hands is quite simple.

In order to sew a summer flared dress, we perform the following steps:

  1. We must cut a circle from a square piece of fabric. Its radius should be equal to the length of the skirt + waist semicircumference.
  2. We will need a rectangular piece of fabric for the bodice. Its length should be equal to the chest circumference, and its width should be equal to the distance from the desired neckline to the waist with a margin of 3 cm.
  3. Sew the bodice. Using darts we create a fitted silhouette. We sew a zipper at the back.
  4. In the center of the circle prepared for the skirt, cut out an armhole equal to the waist circumference + 10-15 cm. If the neckline is moved a little to the side, we will get an asymmetrical skirt.
  5. We sew the bodice with the skirt, sew on the straps and trim the edges of the product.

This is how you can quickly and easily sew a sundress that will be indispensable on a hot summer day. This style looks good if you choose a light, flowy fabric for sewing. In addition, bell-bottoms successfully emphasize the correct proportions of the figure and always look feminine and sophisticated.

It is impossible to ignore dresses in the Greek style. After all, such outfits have become a hit recently. And it's not just red carpets that are reserved for dresses like these. Modern fashion has brought the long Greek dress from the narrow starry space to the broad masses. Every fashionista can make her own in the Empire style, even without a pattern.

Method number 1:

  • We take a fairly large piece of fabric.
  • Using brooches or pins, loosely fasten the upper part of the dress to the shoulders.
  • Use a narrow braid or lacing to secure the dress at the waist. To prevent the dress from swinging open with any movement, the side flaps should be sewn.
  • We arrange the desired drapery and secure it with braid.
  • We finally secure the folds and gathers using a sewing machine.

Method number 2:

  • The basis of our work will be the following diagram
  • The piece of fabric should be twice your height plus a few centimeters in reserve.
  • We spread the fabric on the floor and draw a line in the middle of the segment. We marked the shoulder area.
  • Mark a point in the center of the shoulder line. Let's measure 7.5 cm in one direction and the other to start. Let's cut this section at 15 cm. We made a hole for the head.
  • Next we decide on the depth of the neckline. Mark the desired level with chalk. Next, draw the lines to the mark and cut out.
  • Guided by such a scheme.

  • we tie the ribbon under the chest, not on the fabric, but under it. We drape the fabric, pinning it to the ribbon. We do this with one breast, then with the other. We do the same with the tape at the waist.
  • Having achieved the desired effect, you can begin to sew on the folds and get rid of the pins one by one. The front part is ready.
  • The back of the dress can be done similarly to the front. Some options can be taken from this drawing.

  • Don't forget the clasps. It is best to place them on the side, at the ends of the ribbons used. These can be buttons, various hooks and Velcro.

Method number 3:

  • We take or sew a simple dress that tightly hugs the figure.
  • Choose a flowing fabric of the same shade. Having put on the base dress, we throw the fabric over the shoulder. Or we make a slot for the head, as in the method described above.
  • We drape the fabric and pin it to the base.
  • Sew the folds with simple stitches, removing the pins.
  • If the drapery is satisfactory, we use hidden stitches, take out the rough thread, trim and tighten the fabric in the right places.
  • We sew the dress as needed.

That's all. Using simple wisdom and available means, you can create a dress in the Greek style.

If you have certain sewing skills, then you can sew a Greek dress with your own hands using ready-made patterns. For this model it is worth using elastic knitted fabric.

Such material will allow you to neglect lightning. The pattern shown here shows a knee-length dress. If you wish, you can similarly sew a long dress or make it with a looser cut.

We begin to sew the front part according to the pattern:

  • We transfer the pattern to paper with adjustments that correspond to our measurements. Don't forget to take seam allowances into account.
  • Using a red marker, draw lines as shown on the pattern.
  • Fold the pattern along the waistline and cut along the red lines.
  • Lay out the pattern and cut off the bottom of the dress along the hem.
  • We beautifully drape the fabric on the resulting pattern.

We make the back of the dress according to this pattern.
The sequence of actions with the back of the backrest is the same. After this is done, we process the edges of the canvas. We sew together the details of the future product. We decorate the finished dress with all kinds of decor: sequins, rhinestones, various chains. It would be appropriate to place these decorations on the straps and on the belt under the chest.
