The choice of materials for knitting car covers

Work, of course, should begin with choice of materials . Because we will knit covers for more than one season, we will need a fairly strong, but at the same time soft yarn. In this case, Macrame yarn from YarnArt was used. It is voluminous, but at the same time it is not prickly at all (which is a big plus: you must admit that it would be very uncomfortable to sit on a warm, prickly seat in the summer in the heat or in the fall in rainy weather). This yarn has only one “disadvantage” - a small footage per skein, so a lot of skeins will be needed. For knitting from macrame yarn, hook No. 4.5 is perfect. Knitting turns out to be quite large, the product knits surprisingly quickly. If you want the cover to be very tight, use hook number 4.

Let's start with the headrests.

We measure the parameters of the headrest: height (1), width (2) and the height of the upper narrowest part (3).

First, the front part is knitted with the main pattern. The dimensions of the rectangle are equal to parameters 1 and 2.

Attention: We do not make any additions in the corners, the mesh is knitted strictly along the perimeter and it turns out, as it were, “perpendicular” relative to the front.

Because in our case, the head restraints are in the shape of a triangle, in the back part here you need to make a small increase in width, then the head restraint will fit without undue stretch.

After the back part is also tied, we tie the entire headrest with one common row of mesh so that it fits on the seat exactly on the “pins”. Along the edge, you can tie a row of single crochets.
