For beginners, we recommend an average toy size of 20-25 centimeters - it will be easier to work with details and the amount of work will not be too large. Miniature toys are the most difficult to sew, so we advise you not to start with them.

Next, prepare the stuffing material. You can use a synthetic winterizer or holofiber or even scraps of fabric for this, or you can fill the bear with granulate, sawdust or even cotton wool. Such materials are often found in specialized stores for creativity.

In addition to fabric and padding, you will need threads, needles (even if you plan to use a sewing machine, all parts are sewn to each other by hand).

Details of the future bear

Next, think about how you will make the bear’s face. The easiest way is to buy ready-made plastic nose and eyes and glue them on or draw on the eyes, nose and mouth with fabric markers. You can embroider a nose with threads, but for the most beautiful interior bears, you should look for hand-sewn glass eyes in needlework stores. Cut parts only with very sharp scissors so as not to damage the pile. In the parts of the paws and body, where they will be fastened to each other, make punctures for future hinges.

Also often Teddy's feet, palms and the inside of the ear are made of another material, such as leather, so they are cut out separately.

Next, we do everything as usual - the fabric bear pattern must be cut out, stitched, turned inside out and stuffed. Now is the time to insert the fasteners. These are cardboard disks with a hole into which a bolt, nut and 2 washers are inserted. A disc with a bolt is inserted into the paw through the unsewn hole, and the fabric is sutured around the bolt coming out. A disk is also placed in the body at the place where this paw is attached, and its hole must be aligned with the hole previously made in the fabric. Next, apply the paw to the body so that the bolt from the paw fits into the hole in the body and secure the structure from the inside with a nut. Do the same with all the paws and head, and you can sew up all the remaining holes and form the muzzle.

It is better to embroider the eyes of the toy using a French knot. Then we move on to the nose, which is embroidered using satin stitch. And we finish embroidering the bear’s face with its mouth - three simple stitches.

6. Sew together the details of the teddy bear . Place the two pieces with right sides facing inward. We pin the parts together with pins so that they do not “move apart” during sewing.

We sew the parts on a machine or by hand according to the chalk line drawn.

We leave an unstitched area between the bear's paws, about 2-2.5 cm. We will need it in order to turn the parts right side out.

7. Fastening tape . At the top and in the middle of the part of the future teddy bear, we put a ribbon folded in half inside so that its two ends extend out of the part by about 0.5 cm - 1 cm from the edges of the fabric. We secure it with a hairpin.

8. Cutting the curves of the part . We carefully cut the inner bends with scissors to the stitched line so as not to damage the thread. This must be done so that when we turn the stitched parts right out, the fabric does not bunch up too much in the bends.

9. Turn the part right side out , through its unstitched area. To do this, you can use the blunt side of a pencil or pen, the main thing is not to damage the fabric.

10. Filling the part . Using any filler, carefully and completely fill the inside of the future bear so that the ears and arms are also filled with it.

In this case, the toy should not turn out to be too hard.

11. Manually sew up the remaining unstitched area details between the bear's paws.

Step 4. Insert the wire frame. For any soft toy it is necessary for greater stability, and also if you want to sit the bear or change the position of the paws. At the same time, it is completely optional; sometimes it is enough to fill it tightly with filler.

How to insert a wire frame

When you decide to insert the frame into a soft toy, use wire with a diameter of 1.5 to 2 mm. A wire that is too thin may break, but there is a way out - twist 2 pieces of wire of the required length together.

Insert 3 pieces of wire through punctures in the body or holes left one by one into the sewn form of the toy, intertwining them with each other and bending the ends into a loop so as not to pierce the fabric.

Insert the frame into the stitched bear shapes according to the following pattern:

Step 5. Now, through the holes left, you can stuff the bear with stuffing, bypassing the ears and, conversely, adding more to the belly and paws. Don’t skimp on the filler; a tightly filled bear will turn out prettier and fluffier, just as it should be.

Eyes and noses for soft toys can be buttons without holes or beads. You can also buy ready-made eyes in craft stores, or cut them out of fabric or black shiny oilcloth and glue them with fabric glue. Spouts are often made of dark fabric:
