Among other things, such an activity develops a lot of positive qualities in children, among which are perseverance, accuracy, attentiveness, observation, and also fine motor skills of the fingers actively participate in the work, which contributes to the mental development of children.

Another indisputable fact that positively characterizes this type of creativity is its accessibility and minimal financial costs. Agree, finding cardboard is not at all difficult, you can buy it at any office supply store or use cardboard boxes and packaging in your work, in which case you won’t have to spend money on anything at all.

DIY crafts made from paper and cardboard. Decorative frame

The following master class will be more likely to appeal to adults than to children, but they can take an active part in creating such a decorative frame that can become an excellent addition to any interior. It should be noted that to create it we will partially use waste material, which is sure to be found in every home. But first things first.

So, for work we need:

Empty cardboard rolls of toilet paper or paper towels;

Scissors;

Paper tape;

PVA glue;

A collection of unwanted notes or special sheets for scrapbooking with music prints;

A simple pencil.

DIY cardboard crafts- description of work.

1. Let's start by making the base of the frame, for this we will use empty cardboard toilet paper rolls, we need to cut each one at an angle so that they can be formed into a frame.

2. We connect all the parts of the future frame together using ordinary paper (also called “masking”) tape. We connect thoroughly so that our frame does not fall apart in the future.

3. Temporarily set the finished base aside and move on to making the decor that will fill the frame. For this we need old notes. If you were unable to get hold of these, you can go to a craft store to select scrap paper that matches the color and texture, although in this case the product will go up in price somewhat. But, if you do not have the opportunity to purchase such paper, you can replace it with ordinary newspaper sheets, it will also turn out very original. We cut out the sheets of music and get many identical parts, similar in shape to a bay leaf. To make this easier, you can make a cardboard base in advance, and fold the sheets of music into several layers. On the top one, use a template to depict the desired detail, and then cut out several leaves together along the contour.

4. To make the leaves seem voluminous, we will draw a wavy line along the center of each with a ballpoint pen with an empty refill without ink.

5. After many sheets of music have been cut out, we take the base of our future frame and carefully glue them overlapping in even rows, thus filling all the free space.

6. So that our decorative frame can be hung, we attach a loop to it on the back side using strong thread, paper, or in the form of a large paper clip. After which the work can be considered completed.

Please note that in addition to sheet music, the author also suggests using the pages of an old book in the work; on their basis, many small roses are formed, which are then also thickly glued to the base of the frame.

And to make such a rose, you must first cut a book page in a circle, approximately 10 cm in diameter, and then, using the principle of a spiral, cut it in a circle, so that you get a winding strip, 1-1.5 cm wide, to the very end.

It will be very interesting for adults to make together with children; this activity will certainly turn out to be not only exciting, but also instructive, and besides, such work will become no less original decorative elements in your home.

Paper garland - This is a universal decoration for both the New Year and birthday. It can also become a permanent decorative element for a nursery or bedroom. Since our task is to teach you how to make paper crafts with your own hands, we will not only tell you, but also show you the entire manufacturing process.

Garland links

Let's start by preparing tools and materials. We will need:

Colored paper

Our goal is a flat garland chain. What do you need to assemble a chain? Of course, links. We will cut them out of colored paper.

3D chain garland

Multilayer garland made of colored paper

Important! Decide in advance what size of links and length of chain you need. Based on this, prepare the amount of colored paper.

Let's get started:

Fold a sheet of paper in half.

Draw the shape of the link on one side. It can be a circle, an elongated loop, a square or a heart, whatever you like.

The first link can be used as a template for subsequent parts, so as not to draw it every time.

Cut out the link along the outlined lines.

Having prepared a sufficient number of links, we begin assembling the garland.

Glue both halves of the link.

We thread the next, not yet glued, link into it, and then glue that too.

We continue assembling the garland to the length we need.

The whole family can take part in the work process. Distribute responsibilities and things will go faster.

The easiest way is to cut out a flower from colored paper, stick it on a white sheet and the applique is ready. Even a child can make such a picture, which he successfully does in labor lessons. For adult creativity, we offer three-dimensional paper crafts, including appliqués.

This is the kind of panel we should get.

For work we will prepare:

Colored paper (blue, yellow, green and brown).

Pencil.

A piece of cardboard for the base.

Since we have to create a craft from paper and cardboard with our own hands, we will create step-by-step instructions.

We cut the paper into squares with a side of 2 cm.

Cut the paper into squares.

Take one square, place the sharp end of a pencil in its center and crumple the paper around the pencil. (In order not to tear the paper, dull the pencil and twist it with a canopy).

Having prepared a sufficient number of details, we begin to “write out” the panel.

Draw the boundaries of the colored fragments on the cardboard.

We begin to fill them in by gluing the prepared squares. To simplify the operation, string the square onto your finger, apply a drop of glue to its bottom and press it to the cardboard.

The same technique can be used to create more complex paintings. You can give this paper craft for a birthday or use it as decor for your garden or children's room.

You can make very beautiful paper crafts with your own hands by replacing smooth sheets with soft napkins. In order to lay out the panel, you don’t need scissors and a pencil, just crumple up multi-colored napkins and create a pattern from shapeless pellets.

Origami

If you want to decorate your home with paper figurines, you should pay attention to ancient Japanese art. Original DIY origami paper crafts require care and patience when assembling.

Bride's wedding bouquet

If you decide to take up origami for the first time, it is better to start with simple designs. Here, for example, is how a swan gathers. In addition to the diagram, we have compiled a step-by-step description for such a DIY paper craft.

Take a square sheet of paper of a size convenient for you.

Fold the sheet in half diagonally.

We bend in both directions and return to the starting position.

We bend the sides of the square adjacent to one corner to the central diagonal.

We make swan wings by bending the vertices of the resulting triangles at an angle.

Turn the folded sheet over and fold it up diagonally.

We measure 1/3 of the length of its larger side onto the base of the resulting triangle.

Now the left sharp corner must be turned inside out. Make sure that its sides form a right angle with the base.

Bend the top of the resulting small triangle once to create a swan neck.

We get the swan's tail by bending the right triangle of our workpiece in parallel. We put them in an accordion and the figure is ready.

Please note that your first experience assembling origami may not be ideal in execution. Don't worry, repeat folding several times to get your hand full.

Scrapbooking technique

Postcard decorating techniques are widely used in another type of paper craft - scrapbooking.

– this is the production of family or personal photo albums dedicated to any event: wedding, birthday, travel, any event that can be told about using a photo collage. Scrapbooking has long gone beyond photo albums, and today many things are decorated with this technique: boxes, packaging, pictures, calendars.

Children's photo album

Despite the fact that the necessary materials for this exciting activity can be bought in specialized stores, there are many recipes online on how to make special paper or decorations for scrapbooking yourself. In particular, paper is made from newspapers, wrapping paper, perfume boxes or even egg boxes, with the addition of grass, thread, glitter or confetti.

Like postcards, scrapbooking uses half beads, ribbons, braid and lace for decorations. In addition, paper decorations made using the technique parchment And quilling

Pergamano technique

– embossing technique on parchment paper. A professional tool can be successfully replaced with a regular pin with a round tip or a crochet hook. Nail clips and the same pin will be useful for making holes. And an old computer mat will serve as a backing. Patience and imagination will help you create works of art.

Pergamano was invented in Europe by nuns during the Middle Ages. This is how they designed the pages of Holy Scripture.
It is believed that they were the first to use another technique - quilling: this is the art of making appliques from rolled thin strips of paper. The nuns wound thin paper strips with golden edges onto bird feathers and used the resulting spirals to decorate books, medallions, and frame icons. Today, quilling masters widely use it in decoration and interior design.

Even a child of primary school age can master the simplest elements of quilling. This activity will help develop creativity and imagination in your children.

2. Prepare sparkles (sequins) and start gluing them to the cardboard. You can use different types of sequins and it is not necessary that the sequins be on a thread.

3. Repeat the same steps with other sheets, but leave 5 sheets untouched at the end.

DIY cardboard crafts: geometric lamp

You will need:

Thin cardboard

Scissors

Stationery knife

PVA glue or hot glue

Ruler, compass and pencil (to draw a pentagon)

LED light bulb (it is important that there is an LED light bulb so as not to burn the cardboard)

Lamp socket.

1. Start drawing pentagons (a figure with 5 identical sides) on cardboard. To begin with, you need 11 pieces, later about 10 more. In this example, the side size of each pentagon is 6 cm, but you can choose a different size, the main thing is that all the figures are the same size.

How to draw a pentagon (video)

To draw an even pentagon, watch this video:

Once you have drawn and cut out the pentagon from your cardstock, use it as a template to trace and cut out the rest of the pentagons.

2. Inside each of the 11 pentagons, draw 5 smaller pentagons. In this example, the distance between them is approximately 6 mm.

3. Using a utility knife, cut out all the shapes from each cardboard pentagon (see image). This is the longest process, but it is quite simple.

4. We begin to collect parts.

Prepare one group of 5 pentagons. Place the largest one on the table, and glue the next largest one on top of it so that its ends touch the sides of the large pentagon. Continue in the same style until all the pieces have been glued.

5. Repeat step 4 with the remaining groups of pentagons.

6. Assembling the lamp.

When all the parts are assembled, you can assemble the lamp. Place one piece on a flat surface and begin gluing the remaining pieces to its sides. Try to glue so that adjacent parts also have glued sides (see image).

*You will have to lift the pieces up a bit. You will get something similar to a vase.

7. Now you need to make the base for the lamp. To do this, you need to draw a few more pentagons (in this example there are 8 of them) and cut them out.

Inside each shape, draw another pentagon (1 cm from the edge) and cut it out. Remove the cut out part and carefully glue all the other parts together.

8. For the light bulb, you need to cut out another pentagon and make a hole in it for the lamp socket.

9. Glue the part from step 8 to the base of the lamp.

10. After attaching the light bulb to the base, place the lamp where it should be (on the base) and make a small cut (or hole) for the cable. You can add a little glue to better attach the base to the lamp.

* In this example, 23 sheets of cardboard were used - 3 sheets will follow the shape of the cloud and 20 will be "inside" the cardboard structure and they have a similar structure, but they can save cardboard (see video).

4. Cut the unused cardboard into small pieces that need to be glued between the cloud pieces

5. Start gluing carefully and one by one all the parts of the shelf, not forgetting to glue pieces of cardboard between the parts (see picture).
