After the collapse of the USSR, special forces units appeared in Russia: Vityaz, Rosich, Rusich, Skif and others. Structurally, they entered the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. In 2006, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation "On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation", the date of the Day of special forces units of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was chosen - August 29.
