Simple schemes of amigurumi. Basic knitting techniques for amigurumi. Amigurumi - what is it

Knitting is a fun and rewarding activity. Modern needlewomen have learned to create with the help of a hook and thread not only clothes, openwork napkins, but also cute little animals. Soft small amigurumi toys are a great handmade gift for a person of any age. To start making it, learn how to knit an amigurumi ring. What is it, why and how it is done, let's figure it out.

What is an amigurumi ring

There are many knitting techniques, the most popular technique, originally from Japan, is amigurumi (small crochet animals). Such products have spherical or cylindrical parts that are sewn together and stuffed with soft filler. The scheme of each individual part of the toy begins with an amigurumi ring (Japanese loop) - a composition of a sliding loop and several columns without a crochet, thanks to which there will be no unwanted holes in the product (as in the manufacture of napkins) that allow the stuffing to look out.

Crochet Amigurumi Ring Step by Step Instructions and Patterns

Any beginner needlewoman can learn how to make these toys. Schemes for such products are primitive. To learn how to knit an amigurumi ring correctly, check out the step-by-step instructions and practice silently. Getting started, prepare all the necessary tools, materials:

  • Yarn. It is recommended for beginners to choose threads of any color of medium thickness (cotton, acrylic). Too thin or textured threads, woolen yarn can ruin or distort the knitted fragment.
  • Crochet hook. Choose the size of this tool 1-2 less than indicated on the yarn, then the product will be dense. The tip of the hook should not be too sharp or round, and its notch should not be small.

There are two main ways to knit a Japanese loop, which differ in the number of turns of the thread - one turn or two. The option you choose depends on the texture and thickness of the yarn taken, the size of the hook, and the purpose of the future product. The step-by-step master classes described below will consider both methods, their advantages and disadvantages.

Master class on knitting a simple ring in one turn

The first method is easier to learn, but to make the lesson much easier, choose a thicker yarn and a suitable hook for it. Execution steps:

  1. With your right hand, make one turn of thread around your left index finger. Leave the tip of the thread long and at first fix it between the little finger and the ring finger (so that the ring does not slip off).
  2. Insert the hook into the ring, hook the working thread (the one that comes from the skein) with it and drag it in front of the “sliding loop”. As a result, a loop is formed on your hook.
  3. Hook the working thread again, pull it through the loop formed and tighten. The result should be a loop, which is considered the first column in the Japanese ringlet.
  4. Insert the tool again into the “slip loop”, hook the working thread and pull it through the ring. 2 air loops came out.
  5. Next, pull the working thread through these two loops to get a single crochet (sc).
  6. Continue to do the required number of sc (minimum 6 single crochet).
  7. Remove the ring from your finger, pull the tail of the thread, tightening the “sliding loop”. Got an arc.
  8. Connect the first column to the last. The initial row of the Japanese ringlet is ready.

There are many advantages to creating this element using the one-turn method - it knits up quickly, easily tightens without effort. The disadvantages of the method include the following points:

  • it is not suitable for knitting on thin threads;
  • with frequent washing of the finished product, such a Japanese loop may become loose or unravel.

How to make a double amigurumi ring

The second method is more time consuming and requires more practice. For work, fine and medium thickness yarn is suitable. The step by step instructions are:

  1. Pull out a sufficient amount of yarn from the ball, wind its end twice around the left index finger. If you chose thick threads, wrap the “sliding loop” around two fingers (index and middle).
  2. Insert the hook under both threads and grab a loop from the working thread.
  3. Chain stitch once and single crochet into a double slip stitch for as long as you need. If you are just studying, you need to dial 6 sc. When you start making toys, use the diagrams that indicate the required number of sc.
  4. Next, lightly pull the thread on the loose tail. Pay attention to the thread that "moves".
  5. Release the tail, take this thread, and gently pull it outward until the ring narrows. Make sure that the columns do not bloom.
  6. There is one more part of the ring left - a loop sticking up. To get rid of it, slowly pull the thread by the tail.
  7. When the ring is completely closed, connect the first sc with the last.
  8. The first row is ready, then do the second, third, etc.

The disadvantages of this method include only a somewhat time-consuming procedure for performing a "sliding loop". The positive properties are:

  • you can use thin yarn;
  • regardless of the manipulations performed with the finished product (washing, stretching), its middle will never bloom.

Video tutorials for beginners on knitting amigurumi rings

The technique for making a Japanese loop is not difficult, but you will need to do some practice to get a small, neat ring. Often knitting of a toy or other product starts from the head, where the Japanese “sliding loop” is located on the crown (the most considered place). All the nuances, secrets, ways of how to knit an amigurumi ring from threads and elastic bands are described in the detailed video instructions below. Take advantage of them.

Small size. There are even toys less than 5 cm high. Do you know that these creatures are another invention of the inhabitants of Japan? And they are called amigurumi. "What it is?" - you ask. The Japanese name for cute little animals with big bulging eyes means "knitted soft toy." How to create such a miracle and what is needed for this, we will consider in detail in our article.

Who are amigurumi

Amigurumi toys for many craftswomen "live" at home and are part of the decor. They can decorate window sills, shelves. Children enjoy playing with larger models. Small animals are used as key rings or accessories attached to a backpack.

Amigurumi toys - there can be not only animals, but also little men, cartoon characters and even inanimate objects that, if desired, can be revived by giving them human features. For example, hats, needle cases, cupcakes, ice cream and others.

Most often there are toys crocheted from yarn. Parts of amigurumi are knitted separately, after which they are connected with sewing threads. Basically, the details of the toy are disproportionate. And the head can be much larger than the body. This gives the toy a certain charm. Body parts are stuffed until they are sewn together. A synthetic winterizer, holofiber and synthetic winterizer can serve as a filler. The details of the face are knitted from yarn, but you can use drape, felt or doll eyes.

Where to start knitting

We examined in general terms amigurumi toys, what it is, figured it out. And how to learn to knit them? What do you need to make amigurumi? Next, we will answer all questions, get acquainted with the necessary materials and knitting techniques.

To create a toy, you will need a small hook, yarn of different colors and filler. Choose a hook thinner than yarn, it is better if it is number 2. Each part is knitted in a spiral, thereby eliminating the presence of a seam. The desired shape is achieved by decreasing and adding loops. For beginners, it is better to start knitting with a simple toy consisting of one or two parts. This will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the process of creating amigurumi.

Crochet knit faster, the product is dense, and the filler does not break out. So that the toy is not elongated and thin, you need to knit for a full loop of two walls. In the event that the scheme does not provide otherwise. The first row is called his, will be discussed below. The initial rows are performed counterclockwise. Next, the product is turned inside out so that the end of the thread remains inside, and knits in the direction of the clock. It is important to know that the rows are performed without lifting loops, and to facilitate work, the first loop in each of them is marked with a pin.

Amigurumi ring

How to knit the first row, those needlewomen who create products using a hook know. For beginners, we will describe in detail the beginning of work.

There are a huge number of amigurumi toys, the schemes of which begin with a ring. This is the basic row not only for toys, but also for products connected in a spiral. Such as berets, flowers, napkins and other objects that have the shape of a circle.

You need to start knitting with the location of the thread on the finger of the left hand. To do this, take the end of the yarn, throw it on by holding it from the outside to the inside of the palm. Then, pressing down with your thumb, wrap the warp thread around your index finger once. The thread leading to the ball should be outside, and the end of the yarn should lie freely in the palm of your left hand.

Insert the hook along the index finger into the ring formed. Hook the main thread and bring out the zero loop, which is not indicated in any way in the diagram. Next, through it, bring the thread out of the main ball, creating another loop.

Then you need to knit as many single crochets through the ring as indicated in the diagram. Often, amigurumi toys start with a ring that consists of six loops. To create single crochets through the ring, you need to bring the next loop. Then hook the thread and knit the column through two loops. Then repeat 6 times. Having knitted all the columns, pull the beginning of the thread and close the first and last loops, forming a neat ringlet.

How to read diagrams

How to tie an amigurumi animal? Schemes for the manufacture of these toys are presented in several versions. The easiest to read is a description scheme with symbols in Russian. When crocheting amigurumi, the most common loops are used:

  • VP - this is how the air loop is designated;
  • RLS is a single crochet;
  • CCH - respectively, double crochet;
  • P - increase;
  • U is a relief.

For example, an amigurumi loop of 6 sc means that you need to knit 6 single crochets into the loop. If you meet in the description a row of 2 RLS in 1 x 6P (12) - this indicates that you need to knit two RLS from each loop of the bottom row, repeat 6 times. So, the last row consisted of 6 loops. The number in brackets indicates the total number of stitches in the row after knitting. There are rows where the increase is not carried out in every loop. It can be designated as follows - * 2 RLS, 2 RLS in 1 * x 4.

You can find a verbal description without abbreviations. And also the scheme can be entered in a table of three columns, which contain the number of the row, the number of decreases and increases, the final number of loops. As a rule, such tables are accompanied by diagrams-drawings. They indicate where you need to reduce or add loops. The checkmark V is used as a pointer. If there is a cross in the checkmark, then you need to add a loop in this place. If the checkmark with the cross is turned upside down, the loops need to be reduced.

Pay attention to the photo. This is an amigurumi toy - a road sign. The diagram can be presented in this form.

A simple lamb pattern for beginners

Amigurumi sheep - what is it? Firstly, this animal is the symbol of 2015. Secondly, the lamb is very easy to perform and suitable for beginners. Thirdly, this cute and touching toy will become a good talisman for you.

How to knit an amigurumi sheep? The scheme will be described in detail with classic abbreviations.

For sheep's wool, it is advisable to take a fluffy cream-colored yarn. To make the legs, ears and body, you will need light brown yarn. You need to crochet No. 4. It can be anything. For the eye, take large black beads, for toning the cheeks - blush. We knit all rows without a lifting loop.

Amigurumi Sheep: Body Knitting Pattern

To make the body of the toy, take fluffy yarn and a hook. Make a ring using amigurumi technique from 5 loops.

1 circle: (*2 sc in 1* x 5) - double the number of loops (10).

2 circle: (*2 sc, 2 sc in 1*x 5) - every two loops add another one (15).

3 circle: (* 3 RLS, 2 RLS in 1 * x 5) - increase the number of loops by 5, adding a loop every 3 (20).

4 circle: (*4 PRS, 2 PRS in 1 * x 5) - 4 single crochet, then two columns in one loop, perform 5 times (25).

5 circle: (* 5 sc, 2 sc in 1 * x 5) - every five loops add a loop (30).

6 circle: (* 6 sc, 2 sc in 1 * x 5) - increase the loop after every 6 columns (35).

7-10 circle: we knit exactly 4 rows without additions and decreases (35).

In the following rows, we mirror the number of loops.

11 circle: (* 6 RLS, 1 Decrease * x 5) - after every 6 columns, we reduce the number by one loop (30).

12 circle: (* 5 RLS, 1Y * x 5) - we decrease, respectively, every 5 one loop (25).

13 circle: (* 4 RLS, 1Y * x 5) - we decrease one loop every 4 (20).

14 circle: (* 3 RLS, 1Y * x 5) - we decrease the last row by 5 loops (15).

We tightly stuff the part with synthetic winterizer and fasten the thread.

We knit the remaining details of the lamb

Amigurumi sheep, like all animals, has legs and ears. We continue the description of the manufacturing scheme of the remaining parts.

For the legs, take a brown ball and a hook. Make an amigurumi ring out of 4 loops.

1 round: you need to add one single crochet every two loops. (* 2 RLS, 1P * x 2) \u003d (6).

2 circle: we knit a row without additional loops. (6).

Ears knit even easier. An amigurumi ring of 6 loops is the ear of the toy.

So the amigurumi sheep turned out. The scheme is quite simple, including for beginners.

Afterword

Having mastered the technique and created a few simple products, you can take on schemes that will be more complex and interesting. And once you learn how to read Japanese diagrams, you won't give up this activity anymore. After all, such toys not only bring pleasure in the process of knitting, but also serve as an original element of decor. In addition, by giving hand-made amigurumi, you will bring joy to the home of your family and friends.

Hello dear readers!

This is my 100th review and I dedicate it to my favorite pastime - amigurumi knitting. In my review, I will:

What is amigurumi? How are amigurumi knitted? How to learn to knit amigurumi? Where to start and what is needed for this?

HELLO AMIGURUMI!

Amigurumi are adorable miniature crochet toys. Amigurumi can be crocheted or knitted. This art originated in Japan, but has now become widespread throughout the world. And no wonder, after seeing such cute toys, it is impossible not to fall in love with them!

WHAT IS NEEDED FOR KNITTING AMIGURUMI?

1. Hook. Most often, amigurumi is crocheted. For knitting my toys, I mainly use hooks in the range of numbers 1.9 - 4 (depending on the yarn). Important: for knitting amigurumi, the hook must be selected in a smaller size than the one that would fit the selected yarn. So the knitting will be denser and there will be no holes and gaps on the finished toy.

2. Yarn- in principle, any that will be available to you and convenient, any colors and shades. I tried acrylic yarn, wool yarn, acrylic + wool blend, but recently I settled on cotton / acrylic yarn and I think it is ideal for beautiful and even eyelets (Yarnart Jeans or Alize Cotton Gold). It also looks very interesting in toys textured yarn, plush, terry, etc., but there are some subtleties in knitting.

3. Stuffing material. I use a synthetic winterizer - and it is affordable and convenient: the synthetic winterizer does not cake and keeps its shape perfectly after stuffing. You can use holofiber or some other special filler for toys.

4. From necessary improvised means you will need scissors, ordinary and tailor's pins, a needle for sewing together parts of toys - I have a special needle with a large eye for yarn (tapestry).

4. Various accessories and little things for decorating amigurumi - buttons, beads, beads, ribbons, sequins, bows, floss. Small remnants of fabrics, leather, felt may also come in handy. This is all at the discretion of everyone and depends on the play of fantasy. But you can do without all this.

I buy many decorative little things for toys on Aliexpress - a review about it and my purchases.

5. More it will require your skillful hands, your irresistible desire to create and some of your free time. And, of course, good mood!

HOW TO LEARN TO KNIT AMIGURUMI?

From my own experience, I can say that it is not as difficult as it seems. I am far from being an expert in crocheting, but what can I say, I basically didn’t know how to knit before I first met amigurumi. However, in a short period of time I mastered this business and, as you can see, I am still passionate about it.

At first, you need to master not so much: learn how to knit an amigurumi ring, pick up air loops, single crochets and make decreases and increases in knitting. Of course, in some cases, you will have to learn other types of columns, but this is already easily mastered along the way.

Where can you learn all this? There is special literature, there are knitting courses, there are a lot of sites with master classes on the Internet, a lot of videos on this topic - there are many options, you just need to choose a method that is more understandable to you.

I bought myself wonderful book "Amigurumi". The book contains tips, instructions, and diagrams in the form of a description of knitting toys. In general, this is a very nice and pleasant book, very suitable for beginners.

In general, you can always learn!

HOW AMIGURUMI TOYS MATCH

All details of toys - head, body, paws, legs, tails, ears are knitted separately. Sometimes, for example, the head and torso can be tied entirely. It all depends on the scheme of the chosen toy, on the complexity and size of the finished toy. Finished parts at the end are simply sewn together with the same thread that was knitted.

Amigurumi are knitted in the round without lifting loops, or, as they say, in a spiral. I mark each new row with a special marker (you can use a pin) for convenience, so as not to stray or get confused in the rows. Although the rows are very easy to count from the first row (circle).

The first row of knitting is an amigurumi ring. This ring is not required to be mastered at all, but I like to start with it because it makes the beginning of the work look neater and does not spread. So, I think it's worth taking the time to learn how to knit this ring.

The ring is easy to knit. For clarity, I attach a video that shows how I knit an amigurumi ring.

By adding and decreasing loops, you can create parts of various shapes, again depending on the type of toy chosen. You can knit almost anything: any animals, dolls, various figures, objects, vegetables, fruits, sweets and more. I like knitting animals most of all, although I also like to experiment and try new things.

Every needlewoman, when she first sees amigurumi (small knitted toys), falls in love with them immediately and forever. And he immediately wants to get to work to impose a lot of bunnies, cats, bears, crochet dolls. But there is no need to hurry in this matter. Even if you know how to knit a little, amigurumi needs a little more practice, perseverance and mindfulness. For example, for crocheting napkins, airiness and lightness are important, for knitted toys - on the contrary: density, perfectly even relief of the fabric, compliance with special rules, which can be found in the article "7 most common mistakes among beginners" on our website.

It is better to start knitting toys with simple, understandable and proven descriptions (diagrams). Especially for beginners, we have made the best selection for beginners. It is on these toys that it is best to learn to knit. They are simple, detailed, error-free (very important for beginners) and easy to assemble. Let's tell you a secret: assembly and design is the most difficult, but at the same time exciting process in creating amigurumi. Though yours may be different.

7. Great to train on ladybugs and snails. The most simple and naturalistic cow won't take much of your time. You can knit a lot of such cows, in different colors and give them away to all friends or colleagues. Of the more complex (if you feel the strength in yourself), needlewomen fell in love with cow Dusya. Snails are good because they can be made from yarn of any color. They are not difficult to assemble, and the design ends with a banal sewing on of the eye. Very good and sufficient simple snails live on our forum, and there are also healthy snails from Olesya Solozhenko.

8. Although the Year of the Horse has already passed, there are very successful descriptions of these beautiful animals that left no one indifferent. For example, this simple horse from Natalia Kalmykova. Learning to knit on these horses is a very good idea.

9. Not tired of cats yet? There is a very simple and funny cat from Diana Egoyan. You can take yarn of any color, a minimum of assembly and a very cheerful design - what beginners in knitting toys need in order not to lose interest in amigurumi.

10. Sheep. Knitting sheep, of course, is better with textured yarn. As you know, this is quite difficult, especially for beginners. However, there is textured yarn that is quite easy to crochet. For example, "Lotus weed stretch" from Kamteks or Adelia "VALERI" (you can learn more from the topic "In the world of yarn" on our forum). The most popular sheep of Runet -

There are a few simple rules for knitting amigurumi that will help you make the toy as neat and harmonious as possible.
1. It is worth choosing a smaller hook for threads so that the fabric is dense. Any holes (especially if the yarn is dark and the filler is white) spoil the appearance of any toy.
2. According to the rules, amigurumi is knitted in a spiral and for two loops. Occasionally, the pattern indicates that one or another row should be knitted for the back or front loops (this is done for greater stability of the toy or bulge of individual parts of the body). But often needlewomen fundamentally knit toys in one loop. Oddly enough, this helps to make the toy more miniature.

How to knit increases and decreases?

A knitted toy consists not only of air loops and single crochets. The round and oval shape is given to it with the help of increases and decreases. How do we knit an increase? We simply knit two sc in one loop, thereby increasing the number of loops. How do we knit a decrease? We start like a regular sc - we grab the thread and pull through the next loop, and now we grab the thread in the same way in the second loop. Those. there are three threads on the hook. Through all three at once and stretch the main one. Those. we immediately knitted two loops (see photo!).

Learning to read and understand diagrams

Knitting amigurumi according to the patterns is very easy. It is much more difficult to understand the scheme itself. Let's consider three options - a verbal description in Russian, diagrams in tables and numbers, and Japanese diagrams in pictures. Let's start from the simple to the complex.

Descriptions in Russian

These are the simplest and most accurate descriptions. For beginners, it is best to start with them. Fortunately, there are not only sensible descriptions of beautiful toys on the Internet, but also detailed master classes with photos and explanations.

1. amigurumi ring (it can be knitted in several ways, but amigurumi.com.ua suggests you start with 2 ch and knit 6 sc from the hook in the second, after which you can pull up the starting thread to close the hole if it suddenly appears)

2. a row of air loops, which is converted into an oval by knitting circular rows. Therefore, if it says: "2 ch and 6 sb in the second from the hook" - this is a regular circle, and if it says: "Dial 6 ch, knit 4 sb, starting from the second loop from the hook ..." - this is an oval (it is obtained from circular knitting on top and bottom of a chain of air loops). The second method is most often used for legs and less often for handles (but the head, body, and other details can be connected in the same way).

When the amigurumi ring is ready (this is most often the 1st row, although sometimes the needlewomen consider the first two loops to be the 1st row, and 6 sc - the 2nd), we move on. It is very important to pay attention to the numbers that are indicated at the end of the row in brackets. This is the total number of loops that should work. For example:

Row 1: Cast on 2 ch and knit 6 sbn in the second loop from the hook.

2 row: *increase*. Repeat * 6 times.

Those. 1 row is an amigurumi ring. 2 row - six increases (6 sbn, which we already had + 6 increases = 12 sbn). Those. in the second row you should get 12 loops, as indicated by the number in brackets.

The third row we knit increases in every second loop (i.e. again 6 increases: 12 + 6 = 18).

However, it is worth paying attention to the fact that in some descriptions the first row may not be taken into account.

Most of the problems for beginners arise when it comes to knitting in a circle without increases and decreases. Often these rows of needlewomen are referred to as "no change." This means that there should be as many loops in the row as in the previous one (which is additionally indicated by the number in brackets). But many understand this as "we knit in the same way as the previous row", i.e. with additions. As a result, instead of a rounded part, it turns out ... a wave or a flower. To avoid confusion, recently on the site we began to indicate in the diagram instead of "no change" - "sc in each loop in a circle." Those. a row without increases and decreases.

Be sure to use a marker when knitting (it can be a pin or a colored thread that will mark the beginning of the row). Thanks to her, you will never lose the beginning and end of the series, do not get confused in the numbers, and, accordingly, save yourself time.

There are also difficulties with the designation of repetitions. It can be brackets or asterisks. For example:

3 row: * 1 sc, increase *. Repeat * 6 times.

3 row: (1 sc, increase) 6 times.

These are two spellings of the same thing, which means that the combination of one single crochet and one increase must be knitted 6 times.

Schemes in tables and numbers

Such tables are also not uncommon. Reading them is more difficult, but quite real. True, a little experience in knitting amigurumi will not hurt here. The table consists of several columns - the number of the row and the number of loops that should be obtained in the end (see photo 1). Those. if the part starts with the classic 6 sbn, then further (most often) the number of loops in each subsequent row will increase by 6 loops: 12, 18, 24, 30 ... If knitting starts with 7 loops, then - 14, 21, 28 , 35 respectively (i.e. 7 increments in a row). However, check all the details with the photo, since the leg will most likely begin with a chain of air loops.

Complex details, such as legs or a muzzle, are knitted in a slightly different way. Those. in these cases, most often there cannot be uniform increases and decreases. Decreases are knitted on one side only to help shape the toe. If this is the face of a cat or a hare, then the increase will only go along the top of the spout to give it the correct shape. If you knitted similar details, then cope with this task. But if suddenly it didn’t work out, you can ask for advice here.

Japanese schemes in pictures

These are the most complex patterns. But they can also be learned to read and understand. Of course, you are unlikely to be able to learn hieroglyphs, but knitting a toy is easy.

Japanese schemes are very similar to the schemes in the tables that we reviewed above. Those. the Japanese give the diagram itself in symbols and a plate next to it: the first column is the number of rows (read from bottom to top), the second is the total number of loops in a row. It is important to use both a table and a symbolic diagram here. Most often, Japanese toys are quite simple and their increments and decreases go evenly. However, to avoid errors, it is better to check this according to the scheme. The cross in the diagram is sbn, the cross in the checkmark is an increase, the cross in the house is a decrease.

Schemes can also be multi-colored (when a part of the body is knitted in two or even three colors). This is marked on the diagram in symbols.

How to recognize which part of the body is which? Check with the picture of the toy itself. Most often, the toy is knitted from the head - this is the biggest detail. The legs and tails are the smallest and thinnest. If you connect all the details according to the diagrams, then in the process it will not be so difficult to figure out what and where. But if you are not confident in your abilities, try to search the Internet for the translation of Japanese schemes - most of them are already in Russian.

Look at photo 2. The number 1 marks the diagram in symbols. Here are the rows with increments (6 rows). The number 2 marks the part that goes without increments (sc in a circle - 3 rows) and then with decreases (4 rows). The number 3 marks the numbers of the rows in the table, they must be counted from the bottom up. Number 4 - the number of loops in each row. Those. based on this scheme, we conclude: you need to start with an amigurumi ring, in which there are 7 sc, then we make uniform increases (7 in a row). From the 7th to the 9th row we knit sc in a circle, starting from the 10th - we make 7 decreases in a row.
