DIY Christmas wreath. How to make a beautiful wreath for the New Year. DIY Christmas compositions

Last weekend, people who are not indifferent to the New Year and floristry gathered at a round table in a cozy cafe. Flower workshop creator Aquamarine Flowers Alina Martynova told and showed how to make a beautiful New Year's decor: a wreath of natural fluffy spruce, the aroma of which filled the whole room. In this article, we will not hide any important details, so it will not be difficult for you to create your own wreath at home.

DIY Christmas wreath: h what you need and where to get it

Main ingredient - Canadian spruce. It does not crumble, but dries up: the wreath will hang quietly during the holidays, and next year it would be better to replace the branches. Canadian spruce has large and non-spiky needles, so it is a pleasure to work with it. In Moscow, branches can be purchased at the Riga market, where there is also a variety of decor with which we decorated the wreath.

Next you will need wreath base. If you like a fluffy wreath, then the appearance of the base is not important - it will be covered with branches. In this case, you can buy a foam circle in a craft store or at the Crafts Fair. You can also make the base yourself: cut a ring out of cardboard, and then tape crumpled newspaper or wrapping paper to it on one side to create volume.

There is another type of base - from twigs. They are sold at the same Masters Fair (there may be in florist shops, but not for sure). This base does not have to be completely covered with branches, it is beautiful in itself.

You will need the following tools:

  • thin wire in black or green (less convenient options are fishing line or strong thread),
  • scissors and secateurs,
  • glue gun.

And, of course, decor. Here you are limited only by fantasy, but we used:

  • cones,
  • cinnamon sticks,
  • coconut shell stars
  • christmas balls,
  • cotton,
  • dried oranges,
  • ribbons.

Buy decor in several colors or hand-paint it to make your wreath look brighter and more festive. Oranges, by the way, are not as easy to dry as they seem, so you can buy them (like cones if you live far from the forest) in specialized stores.

Basic stage

Cut large branches of spruce with secateurs into smaller "legs" - the desired size is easy to determine by attaching the branch to the base. These branches will need to wrap the base with wire. Wire works best because it holds the structure together well, even if you release a loose branch. Due to the properties of the wire, the wreaths after winding can be additionally formed by hand if the shape is not perfect.

Tie the wire to the base, then attach one or more branches (usually three are optimal to cover the front, outside and inside of the ring) and tie. Try to lead the wire between the branches, and not on top, so that it is less noticeable.

Add new branches, tucking their tips under the previous ones, continuing to wrap. If there are gaps, do not worry - you can then add branches where they were not enough. If you wrap the entire wreath in a circle, move clockwise - this arrangement of branches is read as the most harmonious and positive. Having finished winding, tie the wire into a knot on the wrong side of the wreath and cut it off (if you wound it with a spool in your hand).

Take a critical look at what you've done. With the help of new portions of wire, add twigs where they were not enough, or wrap protruding branches more tightly if they are out of order. The branches can be safely moved by hand, the design will not suffer: our wreath turned out to be slightly oval after winding, but a simple compression from the sides and displacement of a pair of branches was enough to correct the situation.

The wreath is ready, it remains to decorate it!

wreath decoration

The main decoration tool is a glue gun. Plug it in and let it warm up. During this time, select the decor elements and harmoniously arrange them on the wreath. Here Alina gave some universal advice:

  • There are two approaches: form groups of elements and then fill in the gaps between them, or evenly distribute the elements one at a time throughout the wreath.
  • You can create groups from objects of the same type, the same shape or the same color - one thing must match, maximum two parameters.
  • Groups with three objects look best.
  • In groups, it is better to have connecting elements so that they come together in a composition: for example, all groups will have the same object or color.

  • Arranging groups in an equilateral triangle should be avoided.
  • The main thing is to try to do without the effect of "eyes" - two identical or very similar objects symmetrically opposite each other. It will seem that the wreath is looking at you - we are serious. In this case, it is enough to place these elements diagonally - the effect is lost.
  • Don't be afraid to place the same objects in pairs if it seems harmonious to you.
  • Rely on your sense of beauty.

Gluing elements on the wreath is very simple: squeeze a little glue onto the back of the decor, press it to the right place on the wreath and hold it a little. The main thing is not to try to stick to the air between the branches - we checked, this does not work. Try to slightly sink the decor into the branches: this way it looks like part of the wreath, and not lying on top, and sticks better.

As a final step, decorate the wreath with a ribbon if desired. You can tie a bow directly on the wreath, or you can make it separately and stick it on top, like the rest of the decor. The ribbon can be a fastener for hanging a wreath on the wall, or it can be a purely decorative detail. Then you need to make a loop of wire on the back of the wreath.

The last thing left is a strength test. Raise the wreath and shake it - if nothing fell off, then you did a great job with the glue gun, and the product will not suffer even if you slam the door on which the wreath hangs. If it falls off, repeat gluing.

By the way! A wreath can not only be hung on a wall or door, but also placed on a table or chest of drawers, placing a composition of candles or a vase of tangerines in the middle.

Happy New Year to you!

Most people carefully prepare for the New Year, because this holiday is one of the most beloved and magical for both children and adults. In order to create a suitable festive atmosphere, it is necessary to decorate the home, as is customary in many countries of the world.

But not only a Christmas tree and various tinsel can become a home decoration, but also a New Year's wreath, which is also decorated with bows, balls and ribbons. This European tradition, which has taken root well and is now very popular.

You can hang a wreath on the doorway, above the entrance to the house, on the wall or in any other place.

Origin story

Familiar to all Christmas wreaths first began to be used in Germany, in the Middle Ages. One priest who raised children from poor families decided to create a calendar with which to determine the onset of the Christmas holidays. He took an old wheel and decorated it with pine needles, placing nineteen red and nine white candles on it.

The guys lit candles and thus, the expectation of the holiday was not so tiring. Despite the fact that the New Year's wreath of needles is considered a typical paraphernalia of the Catholic Christmas, it is used quite often.

The circle of the wreath means the planet and the four cardinal directions, and the green coniferous branches are a symbol of life on earth.

How to make a wreath at home?

You can create such a craft at home from different materials at hand. Having spent a small amount of time, you can create a magnificent element of decor and make your home unusual and stylish for the New Year.

Initially, you need to choose a suitable base, which can be made from:

  • straw
  • willow branches
  • Cardboard
  • wires
  • Styrofoam
  • Construction foam

A wreath made of spruce and pine spruce branches can fill the house with an unsurpassed aroma of fresh pine needles. You can attach branches with rope, glue and wire. In order to decorate it, you can use:

  • fir cones;
  • berries;
  • tapes;
  • tinsel;
  • bows;
  • beads;
  • bells and more.

There are many technologies with which you can learn how to make a wreath with your own hands. Basic tools that can come in handy for making crafts include a glue gun, wire, fishing line, superglue and wire cutters.

The main thing in creating a wreath is the base, which must be strong and keep it from crumbling. Choose the most suitable material that is at hand. In addition to the above basics, it can consist of fabric rollers filled with padding polyester, hose segments or wires fastened in a circle.

To make a wreath that will last you for many years, you can use artificial spruce, periodically changing the decor. Decorating a wreath is purely up to your imagination, as there are countless different options.

Wreath making process

To make a beautiful wreath, you need to make a frame and cut coniferous branches of suitable length. Then you need to start weaving the branches together in a clockwise direction.

To make the decoration more voluminous, the next layer of branches is superimposed counterclockwise. In order to fasten them together, you need to use a green wire.

You can make as many layers as you want, the more you have, the fluffier your craft will become. After the work is finished, we decorate it using satin ribbons and all the materials that interest you.

A place for a wreath should be prepared in advance, as it turns out to be quite heavy, and therefore will not hold on to a pushpin. A weighty craft can be put on a special stand or shelf.

The decoration made of needles, red satin ribbons, golden balls, cones and artificial snow looks the most festive and bright.

If you lay it on the table, then candles are inserted into the wreath, which can be securely fixed with a wire. Pine needles can be replaced with balls, oranges, knitted balls and various fabrics.

Christmas wreath for the table

A photo of a wreath decorating the festive table will be able to remind you of the New Year holidays, for which you can get bored very quickly. In order to make a decoration for the table, it does not take much effort and time. You need to take:

  • Ring-shaped base
  • pine needles
  • Flowers
  • Walnuts
  • Candles
  • beads
  • Wool threads
  • Green and gold wire

Beads must be strung on a wire in any order that you like. Then the walnuts must be wrapped with golden wire from different sides. Needles are superimposed on the base of the wreath, which are intertwined in several layers.

Candles are also decorated with golden wire. Woolen threads are needed in order to make bows out of them, which can be of any color.

The finished wreath is decorated, decorated with candles, nuts and flowers. Then we set it in the center of the New Year's table and begin to enjoy the long-awaited holiday!

Improvised materials for original decoration

If you want your wreath to be more unique and not like the rest, then pay attention to materials such as:

  • balloons;
  • cork stoppers;
  • colored light bulbs;
  • roses made of fabric or napkins;
  • candies;
  • pasta;
  • cones, apples and more.

Do not be afraid to use food - sweets, fruits or vegetables. The main thing is that they are not perishable.

When creating a wreath, it is worth showing not only perseverance and painstakingness, but also imagination, on which the appearance of your product depends.

Decorations (in this example, this is a decorative bird)

Good afternoon - today our article will be devoted to New Year's compositions. This means that we will compose with you small ISLANDS OF NEW YEAR HAPPINESS. I will show you how such small compositions can decorate the New Year's table. Or how to decorate a room with their help - giving it the spirit of expectation of a fabulous holiday.

We will have…

  • small DESKTOP New Year's compositions with crockery... with candles… Compositions from natural materialEdible Christmas crafts...
  • …there will be SUSPENDED compositions to decorate a window or wall…
  • ...and there will be MAJOR crafts to decorate the fireplace area or decorate part of the room.

So, let's see how you can decorate the house for the New Year ...

TABLE compositions - with BEADS, BALLS and WARE.

The simplest idea is to take a beautiful wide vase or a ceramic SALAD BOWL - put candles of different sizes in it .... To the bottom put Christmas decorations between the candles and distribute a beautifully long string of glass beads - You can see an example of this idea in the left photo below.- everything here is sustained in a single silver-gold color. But you can have a blue composition ... or red ... to match the color of your service and tablecloth on the New Year's table.

More ... (right photo below - look how original ...) you need to take round CAKE STAND(on a high leg). And on this round "podium" arrange wine glasses, glasses, vases- which to fill with Christmas decorations (small balls), beads, glass crystals.

Not necessary such "ware-New Year's" compositions to do in one color. It can be a bright combination of three or four colors. Moreover, you can lay them randomly ... or you can GROUP by shade(as in the left photo below) - where the Christmas tree decor in blue tones lies in one pile ... purple tinsel is collected in another ... red ... yellow ... green - it all forms rainbow arrangement of fir tree toys on one big platter.

And you can use as bright colors not only juicy fir balls - but also bright DENSE-COLOR LIQUIDS in pot-bellied decanters and glass saucers(see left photo below).

And also ... you can add TRIANGULAR CONICAL SHAPES to round balls - that is, buy bright wrapping paper (in the gift wrapping department) ... roll it off bright cones ... and arrange here and there in our composition- it turns out an imitation of Christmas trees. If these cones decorate with glue rhinestones(sold in any newsstand - sticker rhinestones) - then our cones-herringbones will be quite elegant. This is also a simple idea.

They also look good in compositions for the New Year's table - tall flat vases for fruit and cakes… They are single-tier (as in the purple photo below) ... or multi-tiered (as in the red example in the photo below).

They can also be decorated with a scattering of Christmas balls and colored lozenges.

You can also flip ordinary wine glasses.– and their flat base makes a great candle holder. Under the "head" of an inverted glass, you can put a flower, glass beads or a scattering of small Christmas balls-babies (such tiny balls are sold at any New Year's fair).

Do you know? ... how to put balls in a glass and not scatter them, when will you turn the glass upside down? It's very simple - you need to pour balls into a glass - put a cardboard on top. Turn the glass over on the table - remove the cardboard from under it - and you're done: all the balls remained under the glass. And we get a beautiful New Year's candlestick.

And in New Year's table compositions, you can use a GARLAND ... It can be placed at the bottom of colored vases and wine glasses. Or hide among the tinsel, beads and floral material (leaves, flowers).

Or you can buy crystal trees (during the season they are sold in almost every major store) or Christmas tree lamps. Put such a Christmas tree in the center of the future composition - surround it with candles and other New Year's decorations and ... light all this splendor in the evening. The fire of candles will be reflected in the crystal of the Christmas tree, in the shiny silver of the tray ... in the candlesticks wrapped in foil.

Can be used as a basis not a tray ... a WITTED BASKET… And add to standard candles and balls tape ... and a fan, in the same colors as Christmas decorations.

And you can do without any vessel or container ... just make a beautiful layout on the table New Year's tools...

Arrange heart shaped balls… add spruce twigs… cones… tablet candles… dried orange slices… and fragrant bundles of cinnamon sticks tied with a ribbon

look good compositions with a big star... already for this it is worth buying it ... or you can make a beautiful New Year's star with your own hands ... How exactly I will tell in a separate article and then a link to it will work here.

And if you find DEER FIGURINES on sale ... then you can make a beautiful craft on a flat dish covered with moss ... with a small artificial spruce and acorns ...

or in a ROUND BELLOW WIDE VASE (or aquarium) with SALT poured into it (like snow), stick cones (like Christmas trees) into a salt snowdrift ... and insert a white candle ... which in the evening will illuminate this small piece of the winter world ... with handsome deer.

New Year's compositions - made by YOUR HANDS.

You can make beautiful elements of New Year's decor with your own hands. It could be A CHRISTMAS SPOTLIGHTED WITH GLITTER.

It is done simply - we fold a bag of thick paper - cut off the bottom edge of the bag-cone (so that it stands exactly on the table). We smear the cone with silicate glue - and sprinkle it with shiny sequins ... You can fill the gaps between the sequins with a manicure powder (it is small enough to close all the tiny gaps).

If you feel sorry for the money for sequins(such an amount will cost a lot) ... you can do it easier and cheaper. We buy in the store the usual fluffy foil garland... and cut it all "makhrushka" with scissors- we get a whole bunch of crayons of sparkles - they can be strewn with a cone-blank of a Christmas tree.

And you can also make a WITTED CHRISTMAS WEB ...(Here as in the left photo above... pale golden, see?) ... It is also made super-simply - just below I am attaching step-by-step instructions.

Workshop on making a Christmas tree from threads.

1. We take the same paper cone - a bottle of silicate glue (old Soviet). Golden threads (or beige threads) are smaller in size ... and a little bit thicker in size (you can use a cord or twine).

2. We make a hole in the glue bottle (right in the barrel)- through and through on both sides - we thread our thread into the hole (using a needle) - and it turns out that our thread is calmly pulled through the glue (wetting evenly). We put the spool of thread on the bottom of the glass jar (so that it does not jump on the table).

3. And now our paper cone we will entangle with this glue thread- we just pull it through the bottle ... it immediately comes out smeared with glue ... and we wind it in a chaotic manner on our conical Christmas tree blank.

4. When the main winding is driven, the whole product can be sprinkle with gold dust(it could be nail powder… it could be a spray can of gold paint… it could be a shredded gold garland)

We also smear the cord with glue (you can not shove it into a bottle of glue), but simply immerse the cord in a bowl of glue. Take out and attach in a SMOOTH LINE from the top of the tree to the very bottom. And do it IN SIX DIFFERENT PLACES. And then with this cord make a circle-ring at the very base of the Christmas tree.

6. After drying (5-6 hours), you can carefully separate the paper cone from the openwork cobweb of frozen threads ... Just poke paper through the holes - it should move away well (if it’s bad to move away somewhere, you can moisten it with water - ONLY from the back of the cone.

You can make original Christmas trees and snowmen from balls of cotton threads… It turns out a stylish composition in snowy tones. From white wire, you can make accessories for snowmen (shoes, pens, smoking pipes).

You can collect cones, paint them in gold and silver paint y (from a can) - and put mixed with balls in high cylindrical vases.

And you can do it yourself beautiful Christmas trees from Christmas balls. How to make such a Christmas tree with your own hands in 30 minutes (without a drop of glue ... that is, dry work, you can trust the children, they won’t get dirty) I’ll tell you now.

Everything is simple and really fast.

Step 1. We make the base in the form of a cone. We take thick paper (we buy a sheet of drawing paper in stationery). We take a large dish (round, the size of the dish can be 2 times the sheet) - put the dish on the sheet and circle it with a pencil so that it turns out FLOOR CIRCLE. We cut out half a circle and turn it into a cone, fasten the cone flaps with a stapler or double-sided tape.

Step 2. Fill the surface of the cone with large balls. We take the wire and pierce it the bottom of the cone- on a wire tail we string Christmas balls, on metal ears. We wrap the wire with balls around the bottom of the cone, the balls are distributed evenly around the cone, in a tight row. Next, the wire, when it reaches the closure of the circle, we pass a couple of times through the place where the wire leaves the cone (that is, we close the circle). And now we make the second circle (it will be higher than the first one). We string the balls again and again wrap the wire with the balls around the cone. We make as many such wire rings with strung balls as necessary in order to close the cone from top to bottom.

Step 3. Fill the holes with small balls. Between the big balls we will have gap holes. They need to be closed with smaller balls. To do this, cut the wire into short pieces, thread a ball into each segment separately. And we will fix each such ball separately. We pierce the cone with the wire in the place of the hole - in two places - we twist the tails of the wire with the hanging ball into a knot inside the cone .. So that the wire does not break through this place of the cone - this zone can be sealed - before piercing on the inside of the cone in this place, stick an additional piece of paper on double-sided tape - even if the child pulls on a small ball, the wire will not tear the puncture site.

SWEET Christmas compositions with a gingerbread house.

OR ... you can make your own hands DELICIOUS NEW YEAR CRAFTS ... for example, this Christmas gingerbread house.

Such a house sets on a rectangular base... so that it is convenient to carry it ... And if you make several gingerbread houses, you can build a small village ... If you place such a village on a mirror (as in the photo below), you get the feeling that the houses are on the shore of a winter lake ... Very beautiful composition.

You can make a THREE-TIER CHRISTMAS PENDANT (as we can see in the pink photo below)…

Your child can do it (it's so simple) ... you have to buy soft aluminum wire(it is very cheap in any hardware store, kiosk) and turn right away THREE RINGS in different sizes... Connect the ring-tiers with a pyramid (using the same wire) and wrap it all with a garland of foil... and then put an ELECTRIC GARLAND with LEDs along the same rings. It turns out a beautiful New Year's chandelier.

And it's even easier to do SUSPENSION FROM THICK CORPORATED CARDBOARD. That's exactly what we see on the left photo above (with purple flowers) ...

We take dense carto n from the box - cut out the circle… in a circle poke three holes- in holes we pass the ribbon(our suspension will hang on it). We place on this circle to composition of moss, twigs, dry herbs and flowers and small candlesticks (necessarily in glass cups) so that the branches do not flare up. (Or lay out an electric garland). And we get a beautiful New Year's pendant.

Here are more options decoration of the New Year's hanging composition... You can make your own design - the author's... under your general style... under the color that you have chosen as the main color of the Christmas tree.

And you can make everything easier ... tie balls on threads to the chandelier ... make threads of different lengths - so that each ball occupies its own SEPARATE AIR SPACE and does not come into contact with another ball.

And I showed an interesting version of the suspension in the article

And in the same ideological vein, you can make a New Year's hanging decoration for windows . We attach bright ribbons (or white ropes) to the same cornice where the curtains hang and tie Christmas toys or home-made flat stars made of gold cardboard on them.

We also make ribbons and ropes MANDATORY OF DIFFERENT LONG - so that each toy in the row takes its own LEVEL, its place - so that they do not crowd in a row like cows at a watering hole.

You first think how do you want to see this New Year's holiday row on the window-

  1. lay it out on the carpet toys and ribbons...
  2. adjust(right on the floor) the length of the tapes and the level of the position of the toy ...
  3. and when you like the composition, then start transferring it ONE PIECE to the curtain rod ...

Or you can make a hanging composition not at the window opening ... and the little one… Hang spruce legs from above (directly on the wall) .. a beautifully lower the ropes from spruce paws with fancy balloons... and cookies. The main thing is to watch from time to time ... whether the decorating New Year's cookies have disappeared from the wall into the warm womb of your kids.

Well, now it's the turn of the candles ...

Compositions WITH NEW YEAR'S CANDLES.

Candles in the New Year are the main thing. Without them, New Year's Eve is no different from non-New Year's Eve. There should be candles - and they should flicker ... And what beautiful compositions can be made with them, we will now analyze ...

Can be taken a long plate (for example, a herring, if a fish is drawn in the herring, cover it with foil) ... Put the balls on a plate ... put candles in a row ... For extra style, you can cut one long candle into pieces of different sizes with a knife - AND ARRIVE IN ORDER from large to small to make steps ...

You can just randomly arrange candles on a table or mantelpiece (if you have a fireplace). And you can make beautiful candlesticks from ordinary glasses.

The tutorial here is simple... We buy in stationery a couple of cans of stained glass paint And one tube with a stained glass contour(the contour is a thick paste) ... On the glasses, draw cells with a contour (for example, square ones, as in the photo below). We let the contour dry - 4-5 hours ... and fill the cells of the contour with different colors of stained glass paint ... If the instructions on the package require baking, then we bake such a painted glass in the oven - the temperature is 120 degrees (average is obtained) ... 5 minutes.

You can decorate a New Year's candle GREENED with sequins or sparkling powder to decorate a manicure or beads ...

For this the surface of the candle must first be made sticky ... You can hold the right places over the fire ... so that the barrel of the candle heats up and begins to melt slightly ... And while the melted side is soft and sticky - pour the sprinkle on it - gently press down, pressing it into the soft side of the candle. It turns out an elegant decorated New Year's candle.

You can also have candles put on upside down crystal goblets... and below scatter imitation of snowballs. Do you know how to make snowballs?

How to make beautiful snowballs from felt or cotton.

There are two ways. The first way - cotton wool, put in a bowl with pva glue- and when she gets wet, we roll the ball with our hands - we put it to dry for the night ...

The second way is to buy felt for felting ... Pour soapy water into a bowl(we use any white soap) - tear off a lump of felt. We immerse it in soapy water - and wet a piece we roll into a ball ... The longer we ride ... the harder we press with our palms, the denser we get a felt snowball ball. As it rolls, you can add pieces of felt to it - if you want a bigger ball. They will stick to it - like clods of snow stick to a snowball. And we roll ... we roll. Children will love to roll such soapy wet lumps of felt.

Such lumps can be pierced with branches- and it will turn out like branches in the snow ...

And you can make FLOATING NEW YEAR CANDLES . They are sold as round candles... or triangular floating cone candles.

A container of water for floating candles can be decorated with beads, branches of flowers and shrubs. Such compositions look especially beautiful with red-style decoration (red berries, beads, candles) ... I collected a lot of ideas on red decor for the New Year in a separate article

Can do red apple candlesticks , and decorate with a ribbon and a sprig of evergreen fir. You can tie a candle with a bundle of reeds, or long caramel sticks.

You can put candles in small flower pots (as tiny as cathus) and decorate them with moss and cones.

And since we have already touched on the topic of moss, cones, it’s worth moving to a new paragraph ...

New Year's compositions - from NATURAL materials.

Can you make your own candlestick? from plump saw cuts of large branches or logs. In such a cut of the log, you need to make a recess (drill or slot) and insert a candle into it. You can paint such saw cuts with gold paint.

You can make a floral New Year's composition - simply by laying natural material on the bottom of the container, forming a dry bouquet or leaves, cones, herbs.

Can be used as a base beautiful wooden box... cover it with a lace napkin (or satin fabric) lay sprigs of needles, cones, Christmas balls ... And you can also make Christmas cones with your own hands - in a special article

Can it be made from natural material? make Christmas trees. Very simple Christmas crafts. When thin branches are glued onto a paper cone ... flakes of bark from a tree ... white airy flakes of cotton wool or white yarn.
