Modern and trendy long lasting nail polish

Beautiful hands and well-groomed nails are the most important part of female attractiveness. How to choose nail polish on one's own? If you are a lover of doing a manicure at home, then for this you need to be able to choose the right varnishes of good quality in a cosmetics store.

There are a lot of them being produced now. Varnishes differ among themselves in a variety of palettes and saturation of shades. The health of our nails and a beautiful manicure depend on its quality. So what qualities should he have and which should be preferred?

For high-quality varnish is characteristic:

  • uniform coverage of the nail plates,
  • drying within a few minutes
  • resistance to water and detergents,
  • should stay on the nails for at least five days.

Naturally, all these properties depend on the components that make up the tool.

Ingredients of nail polish:

When choosing, pay attention to the composition. Until today, many varnishes contain components hazardous to health.

  1. Formaldehyde makes the varnish elastic, does not crack and is stored for a long time. But at the same time, it dries and weakens the nails. The nail plate begins to exfoliate and break, its color changes to yellow.
  2. Toluene increases the elasticity and durability of the product. But its smell can cause a range of allergies, headaches, and even bouts of nausea.
  3. Dibutyl phthalate provides durability to the varnish, but also negatively affects health.

When buying mother-of-pearl nail polish, pay attention to the fact that manufacturers use natural mother-of-pearl, which includes calcium, for extra shine. Oversaturation with calcium can lead to their fragility and delamination.

As part of a high-quality safe varnish, one of the first components should be nitrocellulose. It is also good if castor oil that cares for nails and proteins that nourish the nail plate are included in the composition. Safe components responsible for the viscosity and quality of varnishes are ethyl and butyl acetates. Look for them in the composition.

A bottle of varnish

Please inspect the bottle upon purchase. It must be free of any defects. The bottom of the bottle must be level and stable to avoid tipping over. It is desirable if there are metal balls in it for uniform shaking of the varnish and long-term storage.

tassel

A brush is used to apply lacquer to the nails. The quality and beauty of manicure depends on its quality. If the brush is of poor quality, then the layers of varnish will be applied unevenly, leaving lumps or streaks. The correct brush does not reach the bottom of the bottle.

When painting the nail plate, a high-quality brush should take the form of a slightly opened fan, and not split into villi. All villi should be the same length, fit snugly against each other. Disheveled pile indicates an expired expiration date or poor quality of the brush.

The consistency of the product can be checked quickly and easily. It should not be very liquid, but not very thick either. To begin, open and hold the brush over the neck of the bottle or over a piece of paper.

After about 2-3 seconds, a drop of varnish should fall from the brush - this is a good sign. This confirms that it was made not so long ago and will serve you for a long time. If the agent flows directly from the brush, this means that it was diluted, and this is already a clear violation of the manufacturing rules.

You should not buy too thick varnishes either, because they are very hard and uneven to apply, and the varnish can dry out only after a long time, so it is probably not the first month on the counter.

Best before date

When choosing this tool, you need to consider the expiration date. It is allowed no more than six months. You should not buy varnish at a markdown and with damaged bottle tightness.

Smell

Before buying, you should pay attention to its smell. High quality varnishes have a slight smell of acetone and it is not as sharp and poisonous. Not a single varnish can do without acetone, but it is still better to refuse varnishes with a strong smell and not buy.

Otherwise, in addition to the sense of smell, the nail structure can be disturbed. Varnishes with a high content of acetone lead to brittleness, brittleness and delamination of nails. Over time, the nail plates begin to turn yellow.

Color

When choosing a varnish, you need to consider the purpose of the acquisition, with what clothes it is planned to combine it. Stylish is considered a shade of varnish that matches or a tone lighter. You can combine the shade with the color of the eye makeup.

Nail polishes is not only an ornament, but also an expression of one's individuality. Treat this choice with great responsibility. This will allow you to create a flawless appearance and keep your nails healthy!

Please watch the video: Gel polish, how to choose the right one?

Be healthy and beautiful! I will be glad to see you again on the pages of my . If you liked the article, leave your comments at the bottom of the page.

For those who do not use gel polish, the question always remains “How to find the most resistant nail polish?” Reviews of girlfriends can be contradictory, since the condition of the nails for all people is different. To choose the best brand that suits a particular woman, you should seek the advice of professionals.

The fact is that the cheapest varnish perfectly holds on strong, healthy nails. It can only be erased from the end of the nail, but will never chip or crack. On weak nail plates that bend with some movements, not a single varnish will last long. How to choose the golden mean?

Resistant varnishes - a new formula

Few names are trusted by professionals, so the brands of the most durable nail polishes are widely known. These are OPI, CND, Orly. Less well known are Essie and IsaDora. With the advent of gel polishes, fashion switched to them, but lovers of ordinary polish remained. It is convenient to apply and remove varnish on your own, take it with you on a trip, change the coating as often as you want. This does not work with gel polishes.

Finally, hybrids appear in the nail industry. These are varnishes with a gel formula that can stay on nails from a week to two. They look like gel on the hands - they are just as voluminous and dense. But they come off just like varnish. Salon shelves are changing assortment - they now have the so-called weekly varnish coatings.

Proper application is the key to success

Often, the method of applying varnish affects the durability of a manicure. With an insufficiently degreased surface, the varnish will not be able to fix well on the keratin of the nail and will not give a strong grip. Do not neglect the base - it was created specifically for the first layer, which creates good adhesion.

Some companies additionally produce nail conditioners, which further increase the durability of the coating. All these products are considered auxiliary, but they are the professional varnish layer. Colored varnish - the second phase in the application - is designed for the prepared nail. It's not surprising if reviews of long-lasting nail polishes are negative. They do not last long when technology is violated.

The final coat, or top coat, is a mandatory layer. It's sheer, adds volume, and takes extra time to dry. Therefore, amateurs do not always buy it. But it is he who protects the varnish from external influences, cracks and burnout. With it, the varnish is worn much longer.

Vinylux nail polish

CND was the first to release a permanent varnish and taught how to apply it correctly. The fact is that a regular top is not suitable for such coatings. Therefore, the purchase of resistant varnish is done in two bottles at once: color and top. These coatings interact with each other as they dry.

Fresh varnish takes no more than ten minutes to dry. During this time, the gel molecules have time to react and create a solid film. Unfortunately, this varnish quickly polymerizes if stored improperly, becomes too thick and dries for a long time on the hands.

This lacquer is not cheap at all. It is focused on business class lounges, although it is available for sale. Reviews about the persistent nail polish of this brand were at first laudatory, but then the first dissatisfied ones appeared. It turned out that this coating does not hold on thin and flexible nails. Under it, reinforcement with a gel is required. Following the first sign, other manufacturers began to produce their analogues, only slightly changing the formula. But so far, it has not been possible to create a suitable coverage for absolutely everyone.

Infinite Shine by OPI

Following CND, a similar varnish is produced by the leader of the nail industry - OPI. The base is added to the product. This three-phase coating works only with each other, due to which fast polymerization is achieved. Complete drying of the layers occurs in twenty minutes. According to reviews, persistent Infinite Shine nail polish is worn for a week, and sometimes more. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for thin soft nails.

This company is known as a manufacturer of salon-quality varnishes for home use. They have a medicinal composition, do not contain harmful ingredients - in general, they fully correspond to the highest quality. The manufacturer produces several lines, and each of them has several collections. Their composition is constantly updated in accordance with the latest developments in the nail industry.

Recently, the company has a gel polish. This is a two-phase system, not compatible with other brands. The price is slightly lower than for products from CND and OPI. Customers, whose nails are naturally strong, are very happy, but the owners of problem nails were not satisfied. In general, no magic happened - the analogue of "Vinilux" is intended for hard nail plates.

Sally Hansen does have an old tried and tested product though, Xtreme Lacquer. A very affordable option that is easy to apply and dries quickly. It will not be worn for a week, but due to the short change of coverage, it does not take much time and nerves to apply.

Conclusion

All lovers of lacquer coatings are constantly looking for inexpensive long-lasting nail polish. Often, in order for a manicure to last a long time, you have to resort to strengthening the nail plates with a gel or acrylic. A thin layer of such material will provide sufficient rigidity. But at home, this operation is difficult to perform - a lamp is needed for the gel, while acrylic requires quick application. Therefore, for every woman, the answer to the question of the most reliable varnish remains open.

Girls, another EcoTest is dedicated to nail polishes.

As usual, I selected 10 nail polishes and analyzed their composition. So you can see which nail polish is the best. Be prepared for negative surprises - 3 nail polishes are, in my opinion, generally NOT SUITABLE FOR SALE!!!

First, let's talk about why certified organic varnishes can still be counted on the fingers of one hand. As well as certified organic nail polish brands like Sante or Benecos.

This time I will also touch on the topic of shellac. Because, as it turned out, shellac shellac strife.

Then, of course, you will be able to see the results of the EcoTest of nail polishes.

And here are the candidates for EcoTest - Nail polishes:

  1. Logona no. 04 Pink Blossom
  2. Zoya Dakota
  3. Sante no. 4 French Rose
  4. Benecos vintage red
  5. Essence Color & Go 109 off to miami!
  6. Alessandro VIBRANT FUCHSIA
  7. Chanel 167 Ballerina
  8. essie Bahama Mama
  9. Sally Hansen Nr. 360 Plum Word
  10. L'Oreal Paris Color Riche 204 Boudoir Rose

In an article about, I described in detail all the problems of the composition of nail polishes. For those who are too lazy to read the entire article, I will list the main points again:

  • Nail polish is like an eyesore for organic cosmetics manufacturers. Especially during its boom, when the consumer is interested and ready to spend money on a tube with the inscription BIO. But the problem is that the production of bright varnishes, which should also last a long time, is difficult. After all, even in varnishes with the formula 5free(nail polishes without phthalates, toluene, formaldehyde, camphor and rosin) contain, if not plasticizers, then (not entirely safe) their substitutes, and other ingredients are of a synthetic kind
  • Organic cosmetics brands such as Sante or Benecos have responded to the demand for organic color cosmetics and launched nail polishes. BUT! These polishes do not contain eco cosmetic certificates. Maybe you will feel cheated, as I felt myself in my time. But on the other hand, manufacturers do not claim that their varnishes have a bio certificate.
  • The biggest problem in the production of nail polishes is not only the use phthalates(as a plasticizer) or substitutes, but also the use coloring matter. And you will see later how poisonous and harmful to the body and the environment they can be.
  • The world's first colored nail polish was from Logona. Before him, there were only colorless nail polishes marked BIO.

Such varnishes are produced, by the way, based on shellac- natural resin, which is produced by worm insects living in India and the countries of Southeast Asia. You can read more about this. This shellac has nothing to do with the famous Sheelack gel polish, which, ironically, does not contain shellac at all.

One of my subscribers asked how secure Shellack is. It's hard to give a definite answer here. But it is worth very clearly separating Logona shellac-resin nail polish, which is absolutely safe and has a chic composition, as you will see further, from shellac gels, which, in essence, are ordinary synthetic varnishes with all the consequences that come from here. Read, this nail polish contains synthetic dyes, and aromatic amines (strong allergens), and suspicious UV filters . Of course, such varnishes are especially resistant. But understand one thing, that the more resistant the varnish, the more plasticizers will be in it, in the worst case, phthalates. Here it is worth choosing what is more important to whom.

And please, think about the composition of your nail polish, not only if you are pregnant. You also need to love yourself and your body and take care of it.

Test results - Nail polishes

Nail polishes - summary

  • Nail polish off Logona, this is the only varnish that has been rated GREAT. For a good composition, for, for not testing on animals. The only negative is that it does not hold well))) With a top a little longer, without a top - a disaster. Unless you wash the dishes with him, neither do the laundry, nor clean up)))
  • Nail polish off Zoya was rated FINE. Because it contains a synthetic plasticizer substitute. In general, these varnishes have a good composition!
  • Nail polishes from Sante And Benecos contain, in addition to plasticizer substitutes, aromatic amines, which are strong allergens. Unfortunately. Therefore, the assessment SATISFACTORILY . But nevertheless, compared to ordinary nail polishes, the composition is not bad.
  • And now about the sad. Lacquer off Essence received UNSATISFACTORY for the content of phthalates (can affect the liver, kidneys and reproductive organs) and organohalogen compounds(allergens). Lucky from Alessandro And Chanel also contain hormonally active substances and substances that release formaldehyde. Further more. In nail polishes Essie, S ally hansen And L'oreal contains in addition to all these "poisons" dye CI 19140, which can be especially dangerous for allergy sufferers, asthmatics and people allergic to aspirin. It belongs to the group of aromatic amines, a strong allergen!!!

Girls, do you pay attention to the composition of nail polishes? What is the best nail polish in your opinion?

When choosing nail polish, the color of the coating is decisive. However, no matter how beautiful the shade would be, if it does not go well and does not last long, immediately starting to chip off, the appearance of the nails will certainly be spoiled. Therefore, before purchasing a coating for nails, special attention should be paid to indicators of its durability, only if this parameter is present, the created manicure will please the eye for a long time.

Our Ranking of the most durable nail polishes in 2019

Understanding the importance of such an indicator as durability, manufacturers set about creating special varnishes that are resistant to external influences in order to achieve an amazing duration of keeping a manicure in perfect condition. As a result, “gel polishes without a lamp” appeared or in other words "weekly varnishes", which include polymers and photoinitiators, which are responsible for the durability of the varnish coating.

1 - Very durable Vinylux varnish from CND

The procedure for applying gel polish to nails takes quite a lot of time, so the American manufacturer CND offers an interesting alternative to a complex coating - durable Vinylux varnish, which stays on the nail plate for a week without chips and cloudiness. The varnish has a lot of advantages: it does not require special devices for application and fixing, it is easy to apply on the nails, the composition dries within 10 minutes. A very important aspect is that the varnish not only keeps well on the nail plate, but also becomes stronger every day. This effect is achieved thanks to a unique technology that involves strengthening the varnish coating when exposed to sunlight.

  • Stays on nails for over a week.
  • Before applying the pigment itself, the use of a base coat is not required, which is already included in the composition of a professional varnish.
  • Does not contain harmful chemical compounds that adversely affect the structure of the nail plate.
  • The palette of innovative varnish has more than 6 dozen colors. It is also constantly updated with new shades.
  • High price.

Separately, it is worth noting the hypoallergenic composition of the varnish, which makes it safe to use. The manufacturer promises the durability of the coating on the nails for up to 8 days, without the formation of worn areas, chips or loss of the original shine.

More than eighty shades options, you can choose both plain and mother-of-pearl, colorless and glitter varnishes. To remove the manicure, it will be enough to use the usual nail polish remover, there is no need to buy any additional compositions.

  • No significant deficiencies were identified.

4 - Soline Charms Vini Pro Weekly - dries quickly

With the help of Soline Charms varnish, you can create a week-long manicure that will look perfect throughout this time. This property is called the "gel polish effect", since previously only special coatings that require polymerization in an ultraviolet lamp could boast such durability.

To achieve the best effect, it is necessary to apply a color coating in two layers, wait until it dries completely (about a quarter of an hour), and then apply a special top product on top, which will not only add extra shine, but also play a role in ensuring the durability of the varnish.

Finding a remedy from Soline Charms is not difficult, it is offered to customers in regular lacquer bottles of 13 ml, which is quite economical.

They have a convenient brush that allows you to evenly apply varnish on the surface of the nail. The consistency is thick enough that it does not require re-coating the surface of the nail.

  • Fits well.
  • Not long lasting unless you use the same brand of base and top.

  • High price.
  • Light shades are a little moody.

How to paint your nails so that the varnish lasts a long time

In addition to the quality of the product itself, durability may also depend on how exactly the varnish was applied to the nails. There are several secrets with which you can extend the "life" of the created manicure for the longest possible time:

  • do not neglect the application of the base and finish transparent coating. This not only facilitates the process of removing varnish in the future, but also improves the endurance of the applied product;
  • before applying the first layer is necessary. To do this, it will be enough to walk on it with a disk soaked in nail polish remover;
  • when preparing the nail plate, it must be polished with a soft file - the coating lies more evenly on such a surface, after which it lasts longer;
  • applying colored varnish in several layers, each of them must be thoroughly and completely dried, this usually requires at least 10 minutes;
  • the ideal number of color layers is two, this provides a dense coverage of color, and does not create a too “vulnerable” manicure;
  • you need to apply the composition on the nails with three confident movements: the first is a line in the middle of the plate to the very free edge, the second and third are narrower stripes for staining on the sides;
  • it is better to paint your nails after all the housework has already been done, since it takes at least a couple of hours for initial drying, and 10-12 for complete drying;
  • there is one more rule - the stronger the nails themselves, the longer the varnish stays on them. Therefore, experts recommend resorting to various measures to comprehensively improve the condition and strengthen the nail plate;
  • when applying varnish, do not allow it to get on the skin of the cuticle - after drying, the paint in this place will begin to rise, which will lead to the rapid formation of chips;
  • if you want to dry the applied coating faster, you should not use hot air, a cold environment, for example, air from a fan or ice water, into which you need to dip your fingers for a short time, will be ideal to speed up the process.

Long Lasting Nail Polish Video

There is an opinion that the more stable the varnish, the more harm it does to the condition of the nail plate. Is it so? The answer to this question can be found in this video, where it is substantiated by the results of the experiment and the opinion of a professional dermatologist.

It seems that nail polishes have always been with us, but in fact, this beauty product is not much more than 80 years old! Nails were loved to decorate in ancient times, using henna and other natural dyes, compounds based on resin, wax and vegetable oils. However, the first varnish in its usual form appeared in 1934 and immediately took a place in the first beauty row, which it still holds today. Everything you need to know about this tool, you will find in this article.

What are nail polishes? 18 kinds

Nail polishes are decorative and medicinal. The latter, as the name implies, are primarily aimed at solving specific problems: they strengthen nails, help to cope with delamination, fungus and other troubles. Decorative varnishes are responsible for interesting and unusual nail images: we will dwell on them in more detail.

Liquid gloss varnish

Lacquer ancestor: a monochromatic coating with a glossy effect is still considered traditional. And even if you do not belong to the community of nail maniacs, you will definitely have several bottles of bright or nude varnishes. Sometimes there are other names for this type of coating - cream, enamel.

Pearly Lacquer

For decades, nail polish with a pearly sheen was the most popular - partly because, for example, it was not available in others. In the 2000s, it was forgotten about, but a few seasons ago, mother-of-pearl varnish triumphantly returned to our cosmetic bags after the most important brands paid attention to it. True, this tool has several disadvantages - mother-of-pearl varnish is able to visually “age” your hands, it also emphasizes all the irregularities of the nail plate. Therefore, make sure that your hands and nails are in perfect condition.

Matt lacquer

One of the hottest trends of recent years is a lacquer finish that does not shine at all. On sale there are colored varnishes that initially guarantee a similar effect. Or you can buy a clear matte finish and turn any glossy polish into a matte finish. Read more about how to make a matte manicure, we wrote in this

Varnish with large shiny particles in the composition. Especially popular are the top transparent coatings with abundant glitter, with which it is easy to turn any manicure into a festive one. For a detailed article dedicated exclusively to glitter manicure, look for this.

Perhaps, in the modern world, shimmers are the second most popular varnishes after classic glossy ones. These polishes contain a lot of small shimmering particles that provide a delicate shine. If the varnish is light, then it can be used even for everyday manicure.

"Sand" varnish

Varnish with small particles that provide a bumpy "sandy" coating to the nails. The same can be achieved if you buy a special powder in a store for professional masters and apply it on top of ordinary varnish. The main disadvantage of such a coating is that it is more prone to chipping than others.

"Caviar" coating

Like the "sand" varnish, it belongs to the type of texture, but at the same time it contains larger colored particles resembling small beads. Such varnishes are produced by a very limited number of beauty brands, more often “caviar” manicure is still created using loose pigments.

Duochrome and multichrome

"Lac-chameleon" changes its shade depending on the angle of view due to small shiny particles that glare differently under the rays of light. If the varnish shimmers in two shades, then you have a duochrome in front of you, if more colors are involved in the process, then we are talking about multichrome.

It shimmers on the nails with all the colors of the rainbow, reminiscent of the stains of a gasoline film.

They create the effect as if you have glued pieces of foil on your nails - silver, gold, copper or bronze. Metallic manicure is one of the highlights of 2017, which will stay with us for at least another year. How to create a similar image, read.

Changes its shade depending on the ambient temperature. It is enough to put your nails under a stream of warm water to change the color of your nails, as if by magic. Radical changes should not be expected (it will not change from blue to red), but it will be possible to instantly create an effect on the nails with a smooth transition from one shade to another.

Creates the effect of a "cracked" coating on the nails. For a more impressive look, first paint your nails with a contrasting colored varnish, and apply a craquelure coating on top: the first layer will “look through” through the cracks formed. Such a varnish must be fixed on top with a transparent top coat, otherwise it will not last long.

Fluorescent varnish

In daylight it looks like an ordinary neon varnish of a bright “acidic” shade, under ultraviolet rays it begins to glow. The most "that" for a disco!

Magnetic varnish

It contains the smallest metal particles that form intricate patterns if a magnet is brought to the nails.

lacquer jelly

As the name implies, it has a jelly texture and lays down in a translucent layer, even if it has a rich shade in the bottle. Often in the composition of such varnishes there are large shiny particles.

gel polish

A finish that threatens to supplant classic polishes: today it is almost more popular than usual. And this is not surprising, because such a coating, hardening under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, remains on the nails in its original form for up to three weeks, does not scratch or chip off. At the same time, outwardly, gel polish cannot be distinguished from any other! The only inconvenience is that it will not work to remove it with ordinary liquid, you will have to stock up. Previously, gel coating could only be done in the salon, but today many beauty brands are releasing kits for home use.

Base coat

Transparent varnish, which is applied to the nail plate before using the base shade varnish. It is better not to skip this stage in manicure: the base coat protects the nails from the effects of color pigments, prevents the nails from turning yellow and exfoliating.

The top coat is applied at the very last stage to secure the manicure. Such a varnish significantly prolongs the life of a manicure. For the best effect, use a top coat of the same brand as the base coat.

Fashionable varnishes of 2018

What polishes to add to your home set to stay on trend in 2018?

Most likely, you already have such a varnish, and you actively use it both in daytime and in evening manicure. But if for some reason you still haven’t bought it or want to replace the one you already have with a new one, try to find a polish in the color of “ballerina shoes”. This shade, judging by the latest shows, will be the most relevant in the coming year.

Dark metallic

In general, it is not so important which shade of metallic you choose in the end - no one can accuse you of beauty illiteracy. However, if you come across a deep metallic varnish, you should not miss the chance. Combine this manicure with matching make-up, as in the autumn-winter show of Alexis Mabille.

Light gray pastel or taupe lacquer is at the peak of popularity. Such a manicure, on the one hand, will not look too gloomy, on the other hand, it will be combined with any outfit and will definitely not raise questions either from the teacher at the institute or from the boss at work. And if you want to make it more interesting, paint a few nails with glitter or shimmer varnish.

Emerald

Is bright green nail polish too bold for you? Then try to "try on" a deep emerald shade that looks noble and interesting. Pair it with burgundy and gold for a go-to nail look.

Violet

But not bright neon and not dark plum, but soft lilac, lavender or orchid. In winter, this one will definitely cheer you up, and in summer it will beautifully accentuate your tan.

red-orange

Red lacquer is the head of everything, but the trends of 2018 claim that not everything is so simple. Choose options with orange pigments and combine them with equally bright clothes.

What is nail polish made of?

The list of ingredients on a bottle of nail polish looks like a Chinese letter to most of us. What lies behind the incomprehensible names?

Resin that literally "glues" and holds all the components together. As a rule, there are two types of resin in the composition at once - film-forming (it is she who is designated by the word nitrocellulose) and adhesive (look for the inscriptions polymer, copolymer or resin). The film-forming resin is responsible for the glossy sheen, while the adhesive polymer makes the lacquer texture more elastic and allows it to better adhere to the surface of the nail plate.

Ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, propyl acetate, isopropyl acetate

All these components are solvents, which are responsible for the easy application and quick drying of the varnish. As the compound dries, the solvent evaporates, leaving the surface dry. The main problem that manufacturers face is to make sure that the solvent does not evaporate too quickly, otherwise bubbles will appear. Alas, the buyer can check this only after applying nail polish.

Stearalkonium hectorite, stearalkonium bentonite

Thickening additives that help mix resin and solvent without allowing color pigments to settle to the bottom of the bottle.

UV stabilizer that prevents the color and texture of the varnish from changing under the influence of sunlight.

Trimethyl pentanyl diisobutyrate, triphenyl phosphate, camphor and ethyl tosylamide

These components are plasticizers, they help the resin not thicken and prolong the durability of your manicure.

CL (numbers next to it indicate the number of the shade used)

Dyes and pigments, which determine the color of the varnish. Dyes are often organic, but pigments are not.

Mica is added to varnish to add a glossy sheen to it. In rare cases, particles of natural pearls and aluminum powder are also added to the varnish.

How to paint nails with varnish?

It seems that it could be easier to spread the varnish over the nail plate? But many cannot cope with this beauty task on their own, trusting the process only to a salon master. Perhaps our step-by-step photo tutorial can change that.

Wipe your nails with nail polish remover or a special degreaser, even if you have not applied cream to your hands before, and there are no residues of old varnish on your nails. Having performed this action, you can be sure that nothing will interfere with the perfect coating. It is better to use not cotton pads, but a lint-free cloth that will not leave small lint on the nails.

Apply a base coat to protect your nails.

Before using the varnish, slightly warm the bottle between the palms: its texture will become more pliable.

Apply two coats of color and let dry thoroughly. You should act like this: first place a drop of varnish at the edge of the cuticle in the center and draw a line to the tip of the nail. Then fill with varnish the space to the right and left of the drawn line. After the second coat, do not forget to “seal” the edge of each nail, as it were, in order to further prolong the durability of the coating.

Secure the result with a transparent top coat.

Of course, a manicure will not turn out beautiful if you have learned how to carefully paint your nails, but at the same time you have not learned how to do, in fact, the manicure itself. We have prepared a training video that will help fill this gap.

How to remove varnish from the skin around the nail?

Often, after applying varnish, a little (or a lot) of the product is on the skin around the nail plate. This mistake often cannot be avoided even by professional nail artists, but it is very easy to fix. Wait for the varnish to dry properly, and proceed in accordance with one of the recommendations below.

The easiest way is to dampen a clean, thin nail brush with nail polish remover and gently wipe off excess nail polish stains. If there is no special brush, use an orange stick. It is better not to do this with a cotton swab, as it can leave small villi on the surface of the nail that will ruin the manicure.

If you are not in a hurry, just wait for the varnish to dry and take a shower. Under the influence of warm water, the skin will be cleaned of varnish on its own.

The third method requires preliminary preparation. Before you start painting your nails, carefully treat the skin around the nail with a special liquid tape or PVA glue. As a result, the varnish will not be on the skin, and not a film of glue, which will be easy to remove.

If the problem occurs too often, you may want to purchase a special correction pen. Its rod is filled with nail polish remover, it has a soft tip, which makes it easy to remove varnish from the skin around the nail.

How to dilute nail polish?

As a rule, the shelf life of varnish is from six months to three years (depending on its composition). But what if your favorite varnish thickened ahead of time? We know several ways to save him!

Place a tightly closed bottle of varnish in a bowl of hot water and wait a couple of minutes. Under the influence of heat, the texture of the varnish will become more liquid, and you can do a manicure without problems. True, before the next use, this action will have to be repeated.

Add some micellar water

Add a couple of drops of micellar water to the nail polish bottle, then shake it well. But pay attention: the composition of the product should not contain oils!

Use special thinner

Most often, varnish is diluted with a liquid to remove it, which, if you think about it, is rather pointless. Instead, use a special thinner. Yes, you will have to spend extra money, but with its help you can save more than one varnish.

How long does nail polish dry?

There is no single answer to this question: it all depends on the composition, manufacturer and properties of a particular varnish.

  • On average, the varnish dries within 20 minutes, but you should not return to vigorous activity for about an hour.
  • Much depends on the thickness of the layers: try not to apply more than two thin layers of varnish, if you do not want it to dry for ages.
  • If this factor is decisive for you, pay attention to varnishes marked “quick-drying”: some of them (for example, Colorama from Maybelline) dry within a minute! Look for our rating of quick-drying varnishes.

How to dry varnish quickly?

Use special tools that will help the varnish dry faster. As a rule, they are produced in the format of a transparent top coat, spray or drops. With such a coating, the process of complete drying of the varnish should not take more than 10-15 minutes.

As for the "folk" remedies that speed up the drying process of the varnish, most often the nails are dried with a hairdryer. But this is not the best idea: dust particles, settling on the nail plate, will surely ruin the manicure. It is better to put your nails under a stream of cold water or put your nails in a glass of ice water: this method is more effective. However, do not do this immediately after you have painted your nails, wait at least 10 minutes.

Vegetable oil will help speed up the drying process of the varnish a little. Apply one drop to each nail and after 5-7 minutes rinse your hands with cold water and soap.

How to remove nail polish?

The correct answer is using a special nail polish remover. The classic version is a liquid in a bottle, but today it is also available in other formats: cleansing wipes, as well as in the form of a special sponge moistened with nail polish remover. But what if it was not at hand?

  • It will help to remove the varnish with a high alcohol content. Rubbing alcohol works best: place your nails in a bowl of alcohol and wait a bit.
  • In some cases, toothpaste can help you out, but it will take a significant amount of effort. It is better if the toothpaste is whitening, this will do better with color pigments.
  • Try also using vinegar by adding squeezed lemon to this liquid. Not the most beneficial composition for the skin, so it is better to resort to this method only as a last resort.
