3. Now we sew the hat blanks. We sew the ends of the strips of the crown together, closing each into a ring. We connect four semicircles of fields together, forming two circles.

4. We connect the two sleeves of the crown into one and turn it inside out so that the seams are inside. We fix them with one or more pins. We also connect together, and then fix the brim of the hat.

5. We sew the fields together, drawing a seam around the entire outer perimeter. After that, turn the fields right side out. To make the brim of the hat look better, smooth the edges with an iron, and then make another seam on the outside.

6. We sew together the inner and outer parts of the tulle, after which we sew the bottom to it. We turn the hat inside out and iron along the seams.

7. Sew the fields to the crown. We take any newspaper and unfold it on a flat surface. A standard newspaper sheet will make a fairly large hat, so if we are going to make a headdress for a child, then it will be necessary to cut off a little newspaper sheet on both sides. It is best to first make several hats using the technology below, and then, trying them on, choose the most suitable size.

We take the short sides and connect them, thereby folding the sheet in half. All folds are smoothed out with your fingers.

We bend the corners of the sheet located on the side of the fold to the imaginary center line. To get a neat hat, you need to make sure that all sides are even. If the folded corners begin to unbend, you can fix them with tape.

Fold up the bottom edges of the hat.

And at the last stage, we wrap small triangular corners from the sides of the hat inside. If they do not hold well, fix them with tape.

Pirate hat is almost ready. Now we need to bring it to perfection. You can paint it black on the outside, and then paint a pirate emblem on the front with white paint. Or you can simply print the skull with bones and stick it in the right place.

How to make a pirate hat out of thick cardboard or fabric?

Using the same technology, you can make a felt hat. In the simplest version, only one piece is cut out of felt according to a ready-made template and decorated with all kinds of pirate symbols. Then an elastic band is sewn to it. The hat is ready.

A better and more professional option would be to fold the felt fabric in two pieces and cut out one double piece, with a slit in the middle. The size of the slot should be equal to half the girth of the head. Then this detail is sheathed with a buttonhole stitch with contrasting threads and is also decorated with pirate symbols. The ears of the hat on the sides are sewn or glued.
