DIY Easter toys made of fabric. DIY Easter crafts: a guide to master classes. Easter egg decoration

I bring to your attention a master class on making a fabulous plush Elephant. This master class is designed for those who already know how to sew and fasten parts for toys in the style of teddy bears. If you do not know this, then see my previous

Elephant manufacturing time is approximate.

The amount of materials needed for sewing a toy may vary depending on the adjustment of the size of the printed pattern: the elephant can be made smaller or larger.

The height of the elephant sewn according to the proposed pattern is 30.5 cm and sitting 24 cm. Weight 910 gr.

The head is slightly raised, as if he is looking at the sky.

Materials:

1. Pattern.

2. Plush from purple to lilac and pink is slightly less than 50x60 cm (if necessary, the pattern can be reduced to fit on a standard piece of plush or mohair 50x35 cm).

3. Plush or fabric companion for cutting out the inside of the ears and feet.

4. Threads for stitching details in the color of the plush base.

5. Hinged discs with a diameter of 45 mm in the head, 30 mm in the arms and 35 mm in the legs, if you sew according to the proposed pattern.

6. Fastener kit: cotter pin

7. Metal or glass granulate.

8. Glass eyes on a loop. In this case, I used blue eyes with a diameter of 9 mm, but you can take eyes with a larger diameter, it will be expressive. Transparent eyes painted on the back with acrylic paint will look good.

9. Super strong threads for sewing on eyes, for sewing up open areas after stuffing.

10. Sawdust for stuffing. You can use another filler.

Additionally on request:

11. Transfer paper (for thermal transfer of images) Lomond for inkjet printing.

12. Metallized thread.

13. Beads and beads (see ear trim).

Tools:

1. Fabric marker.

2. Scissors.

3. Needle for sewing.

4. Needle for beads.

5. Long eyelet needle.

6. Iron for transferring thermal stickers.

7. Stuffing sticks.

8. Splitter.


The plush is absolutely marvelous in color, delicately faded. I want to play with this detail as much as possible when cutting out a toy:


Head stitching

First you need to sew the front parts of the head with the back of the head.


Next, you need to complete the stuffing of the head. I use for stuffing, in this case lime sawdust. I stuff the trunk with synthetic winterizer. It is not stuffed as tightly as the head. The fastener in the head must be inserted so that the cotter pin protrudes exactly at the point of convergence of all seams:


Eye area tightening

1. We outline the points of attachment of the eyes. You need to keep symmetry.

2. We draw a strong thread folded in half from one intended point to another.

3. We return the thread back, but to a place next to its entrance.

4. Thus, on the one hand, a loop is obtained, and on the other, two ends of the thread are brought out.

5. Firmly press the tightening points.

6. We tighten the thread (we tie both ends), tying it in a knot.


Eye mount (simplified version)

1. With an awl, carefully, pushing the fabric apart, make holes for the eye loop. Do not make too large holes, as we will then squeeze the loop (see point 6).

2. We tint the place where the eye is attached.

3. Fold a strong thread in half and thread it into the loop of the eye.

4. We thread the ends of the threads (they turned out to be 4) into a large needle.

5. We insert the needle into the hole for the loop, which we made with an awl and bring it out into the seam on the head.

6. Gently squeeze the loop so that it becomes flat. Don't overdo it, this place is very fragile.

7. We bring the thread into the seam, pull it so that the eye gets into the recess and sits firmly there, and we tie the ends of the thread into a knot.

8. We do the same with the other eye. We press the eyes slightly, but tightly.

9. The ends of the threads must be cut off, and the knots must be drowned in the fabric. Since this is a seam, it is not difficult to carefully drown the knots. If the stuffing is done tightly (and the head must be stuffed to the state of "wood"), then the tension of the thread will not weaken.

The ears of the elephant are large, I want to decorate them. You can use ribbons, you can use beads... I chose thermal stickers and further refinement with beads, gold threads and beads. I prepared images of butterflies in advance for the format of this paper. To carry out this step, you will need Transfer paper (for thermal transfer of images) Lomond for inkjet printing A4 140 g / m2 for dark fabrics, like this:


I picked up different butterflies so that there was a choice.

If you use this paper in your work, then on its packaging there are instructions in Russian, which must be strictly followed. I will not duplicate them here, I will only note that the process differs from transferring the picture to a light fabric. When translating, the picture sealed the plush very well, it turned out to be an even pattern. Butterflies that "sat" on the elephant's ears, I chose different ones.

Now you need to add a twist: the thermal stickers themselves do not look good. To do this, I make a backstitch with Madeira metallic gold thread along the veins of the wings and add a lot of beads and seed beads:


The photo, unfortunately, does not convey how beautifully the beads, gold thread and beads shimmer.


It is not necessary to make the elephant's ears the way I did them. They can be embroidered with patterns or flowers with satin stitch, cross stitch or ribbons. You can apply thermal embroidery or leave without decorations. I offer only one of the options.

And now you need to sew the details of the ears, folding them with the right side inward, and also sew all the other details (torso and paws). Here's what happened:


Now the ears can be sewn on. To do this, we first pin them with pins to make sure that they are set symmetrically. We sew with a hidden seam. For each ear, I go through the seam twice.


Stuffing

Before stuffing the legs and torso, I suggest making special bags of granulate to weight the bottom of the toy. The granulate is needed in order for the toy to be stable, weighty (it is more pleasant to hold such a toy in your hands than a store-bought stuffed only with sindepon, as it creates the feeling that you are holding a living creature).

So, we make bags of granulate for the legs and a bag of granulate for the body (this bag is placed in the "butt" part of the toy).

To do this, we need a scale to measure an equal amount of granulate into bags for the legs, a small piece of thin but dense fabric and, in fact, the granulate itself.

How do I determine the desired weight of the granulate: I weigh my head on a kitchen scale and add a little to the result for an advantage. The head with decoration and ears weighs exactly 310 grams. That is, for the body and legs, I need about 300-350 grams of granulate.

For legs: we measure out 60 grams of granulate and put it in a bag, previously pulled together at the edges with a thread. We tighten the bag, sew the top - this will be a bag for one leg. We do the same for the other one. The granulate inside the bag should not be tightly packed, but should be placed freely.


For the body, I measured out 200 grams of granulate. Maybe a little more.

We place small bags in the legs, in the feet, so that the granulate inside the bag evenly distributed over the foot. You can get confused and sew a bag with a diameter of the lower part equal to the foot. You can first fill the foot a little and only then put a bag on the stuffing.

Spring is a very fresh, bright and long-awaited time of the year for all of us. It is probably the most favorite time of the year for many, as everything around is green, smells, blooms, sings and flies. Spring freshness, cheerful trills of birds that have flown in from distant warm lands, what could be better and sweeter. Here spring brings us another wonderful, albeit sometimes a little sad holiday of Easter. It is not for nothing that this holiday is called bright, since on this day the resurrection of our Lord God Jesus Christ took place. It is on this day that we hear “Christ is Risen” on everyone’s lips, to which we hear “Truly Risen” in response. People bake Easter cakes, paint eggs and exchange these Easter attributes with each other. And now it is generally very fashionable and prestigious to give each other small handmade souvenirs for Easter. For example, you can make soft bunnies in the shape of Easter eggs as souvenirs, only with ears. It will look very cool and will be cool gifts for loved ones.
So, let's consider a master class on sewing such bunnies and for the master class we take:

  • Fabric cotton 100% quality Polish and Korean production, we take purple, blue and turquoise with small white polka dots;
  • Pattern;
  • Holofiber filler;
  • Threads are white and black;
  • Needle;
  • Ribbon satin lettuce in peas 5 mm wide;
  • White cotton lace in the shape of a flower;
  • Black rhinestones for the eyes;
  • Knitted flowers in mint, pink and beige;
  • Half beads of different colors;
  • Scissors, pencil;
  • Lighter;
  • Sewing machine.


We take a pattern. Each bunny we have consists of two eggs for the body and 4 blanks for the ear. Cut out one egg blank and one ear.



Now we take a fabric and apply our patterns to each.



Outline with a simple pencil.



It turns out from each fabric we need to cut 4 ears and two bodies. We cut out and now we need to iron all the elements of the fabric well.



Now in pairs, with the front side, we fold the blanks of the ears and the blanks of the calf. We sew all the blanks together with a machine, not sewing 2 cm each, so that all parts can be turned out, stuffed with filler and then sewn up by hand.



First, we sew the sidewalls on the bodies, and then the workpiece itself in a circle. We make side inserts so that later our bunnies take the shape of eggs.



Now we fill our fabric blanks with filler and sew them on from below manually with a cap seam.



With the help of a hidden seam, we sew the ears to the very body at the very top. We tie ribbons around the ears and tie bows. We sew noses and mouths with black threads.

Since childhood, we have become accustomed to the fact that the symbol of Easter is primarily colored eggs and Easter cakes. But gradually other symbols enter our lives. Easter bunnies are also among them - a symbol of fertility and fertility.

Last year, Krestik already talked about where this symbol came from, and also showed master classes on making a wonderful Easter bunny using various needlework techniques.

The wonderful tradition of making DIY crafts for Easter is preserved, and today we want to offer you other options.

Gypsum Easter Bunny

To make such a rabbit, we need:

  • Gypsum (alabaster, etc.)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Empty tin can or plastic cup
  • tassel
  • Stir stick
  • Kinder Surprise Egg
  • Plasticine
  • White acrylic paint
  • Thick colored paper
  • Dry grass, moss or decorative sisal
  • Ribbon
  • Small flower pot

Let's take an egg from a kinder surprise (these will be molds) and grease them from the inside with vegetable oil (so that the gypsum is well behind the molds later)

And plasticine will be needed for small rings - coasters. A mold fixed in such a stand will definitely not turn over.

We take a dry mixture of gypsum and dilute it with water to the consistency of liquid sour cream.

Pour the resulting mixture into molds. And let it dry completely.

Carefully remove the frozen halves. If the edges are uneven, then they must be sanded with sandpaper. Wash off the dust with water.

This procedure is best done with gloves!

Let's move on to decorating. We paint the blanks with white acrylic paint.

While the paint dries, cut out two blanks for the ears from colored paper.

And we collect everything with the help of a thermal gun.

As you can see in the photo, the edges of the lugs are beautifully decorated with machine stitching. This can be done on a sewing machine, or you can do it easier. Pierce small holes along the edge of the ears, and then draw a line with a regular pencil. You will get an imitation of a machine line.

We draw a muzzle for a rabbit and plant it in a pot. Decorate with grass or sisal, tie a ribbon.

The basis for the rabbit does not have to be made independently from gypsum. You can take an empty chicken egg (a more fragile option) or buy a wooden blank.

And carefully sew the hole with a hidden seam.

With the help of a ribbon or rope we tighten the ears. Sasha is ready!

Optionally, you can make a muzzle for a rabbit out of contrasting fabric.

Textile bunnies are great DIY Easter gifts!

To make one such rabbit, we need:

  • cotton fabric
  • synthetic winterizer or other filler for toys
  • small piece of cardboard (optional)

We cut out the template of the future rabbit from paper:

We pin it with pins so that the parts do not move and sew two sides on a sewing machine, leaving a small unsewn space for eversion (it is most convenient to leave a hole from below, on the rabbit's stomach).

This method - first sew the details, and then cut them out - is great for small elements: the fabric does not crumble, it shifts less.

Cut out with small allowances. To make it convenient to turn the toy, we make small cuts in the places of bends.

We turn it out, carefully straightening all the corners.

And we sew the ears in half. We carefully tie the threads.

We stuff the toy with synthetic winterizer or other filler.

So that the rabbit can stand without support, you can make him a stand. To do this, cut out a small oval from cardboard, and a slightly larger oval from cotton fabric. We cover the cardboard stand with a cloth. We tighten the edges with a “forward needle” seam.
