DIY leather wallets at home. How to sew a wallet easily and quickly. Seamless wallet

Every person is a master and a creator. The energy splashing in us needs to be released. Sometimes it finds its application in creativity and creating crafts with your own hands. DIY paper wallet, bags, alterations of men's shirts and furniture and furniture made of cardboard, flavorings from dough and oils and remelting of old candles, paintings from nails and adhesive tape, flowers from beads and satin ribbons, the use of empty plastic bottles and reels of adhesive tape - fantasies people there is no limit. This master class will tell you how to make a leather wallet with your own hands.

An old leather cowboy boot was used as the starting material for the craft. You can use any other leather material. Or even a substitute. It is completely unprincipled what material is used in the manufacture of crafts: the main thing is that it be heavy-duty. A DIY wallet is always original and stylish. Who said that you have to spend crazy money to purchase a designer's creation? You can make an amazing wallet with your own hands.

In order to sew a wallet with your own hands, you will need:

1. As mentioned above - an old leather cowboy boot.

3. Seam ripper.

5. Ruler.

6. Scissors.

7. Needles.

8. Miniature cutter.

9. By the way, this tool was not needed in this master class: they used an ordinary needle.

Let's get started. We cut off the upper part of the boot and remove plaque, salt and other substances from it.

The best way to clean used material is dishwashing liquid.

After that, dry in the fresh air for a day.

Using a ripper, remove the patch from the top.

Then we cut the shaft along the seam and remove the seams and threads.

The result is the following blank for crafts.

Using a ruler and a miniature cutter, we cut off the most homogeneous part of the material (without transitions and inserts).

From the second piece of material we cut out two identical blanks for the inside of the craft.

Three leather pieces with the same patterns will be combined into a wonderful wallet. With your own hands, from this material you can sew not only a wallet, but also, if desired, a cover for documents.

Then, using an awl and a ruler around the perimeter of the large piece and on three sides of the small pieces, we make holes at a distance of 5 mm from each other. On smaller blanks, two smaller sides and one large should be perforated.

This is what our pieces will look like before the last step:

In order to make a DIY wallet from these pieces, you can use a manual sewing machine or thread with two needles. In the master class, the second option was used.

In order to create a harmonious and beautiful seam, two needles pass into one hole: first a needle on the right side, then on the left side.

This is the last stage. Nothing complicated, but in the end you get a stylish wallet in the South American style.

From each seemingly unnecessary thing, you can make a truly interesting and creative product. Look carefully, maybe it makes sense to breathe a second life into what you are going to throw away?

And that's a long time ago. The wallet will have to be done long and hard, having previously bought and prepared the right skin. To create this homemade product, we will need a lot of tools that you will get acquainted with in the photo instructions and my description.
You can always carry the created leather wallet with you, store money and even business cards in it. I wanted to create a rectangular, oblong wallet, but you can choose any size you want. I chose light brown leather and metal studs. If you do everything right, then you can make a lot of these wallets, and especially you can use them as gifts.

How to make a leather wallet with your own hands.

Here's what we need:

Sewing machine;
piece of leather;
Rulers of various lengths;
Curly ruler (in our case, these are circles);
Glue moment;
Scissors, preferably more;
Awl;
Leather cutter;

Everything is shown in the photo. All tools.

Previously, from paper, I cut out the patterns of all the parts that we need.

We put the patterns compactly on a piece of leather, so as to use the space to the maximum.

They circled the patterns with an awl and proceed to cutting them out.

With a regular retractable blade, cut out a window in the main part.

The first step is ready, it was the easiest, now it will be a little more difficult.

Round off the corners on these cut out parts.

We take a moment of glue and spread it on the main part from below, as shown in the photo.

We bend the edge and press it down with something heavy, so that it sticks better. But initially we iron it with a roller.

We put the snake in the cut out window. It is advisable to choose a high-quality snake, as if it breaks and constantly diverges, then it will be very difficult to replace it later. Buy it with big teeth.

Under the snake we make the usual embossing, this will decorate the leather wallet and make it branded and exclusive.

We measure 7-9 centimeters from the edge of the main part and glue the pockets. We need them for business cards.

We take two leather strips and glue them together. It should take a long time for the glue to dry, so you immediately glue the necessary parts together and take a break.

When the glue is applied, we immediately iron it with a roller so that the skin is leveled and not stubby.

Under the ruler, we cut off the edge that was a little uneven.

On the edge of the leather strip, we make a rounding. To do this, take a curly ruler and large scissors.

Now is a very important moment. We take our wallet details and go to the sewing machine, sew the snake, then the edge under the pocket for business cards, the pocket itself and at the end the clasp for the wallet.

Now we glue the second not wide strip of leather for pockets for business cards. We draw it into two parts, I suggest taking one standard card or business card and trying it on so that you do not make the pockets too small. And then we stretch.

We make a small markup where there will be bends, and fold the two parts for bills. We put on clips to highlight the stripes.

Fold the wallet in half and try on the clasp. This is how it will be.

With an awl we make marks where the rivets will be.

Same with the other side of the wallet.

We make not very large holes with a hammer or with such tongs as shown in the photo.

We take a small manual press and make accessories with it.

Here's what we got at the beginning.

Then we take a separate piece of skin and completely lubricate it with a moment, this is necessary to strengthen the wallet.

We wrap the skin in the part where the zipper is. Further it will be a large pocket where to store a trifle. Don't forget to use a roller.

From the side where the pockets for the cards, I glue both sides and fasten with clips.

We also glue and clamp it on the other side. We are waiting for a certain time until the glue dries.

Again, we make lines, on a sewing machine, for beauty and reliability.

We cut off the extra edges completely, just do not touch the threads.

We make holes at the corners with a hammer and a punch to insert rivets there, they will look beautiful there and further strengthen the leather wallet with their own hands.

Again, we install the fittings with a press.

If there is a rubber mallet, then you should tap a little on the skin so that it is softer and the corners become more accurate and refined, so to speak natural.

Here is a wallet we made of leather with our own hands. See photos of the wallet from all sides.

Now you can use the wallet or give it to someone for the holiday. Then you can continue to do such things in various sizes or take the skin of a different color.
Together with the wallet, you can do or and be completely exclusive.

As you know, a good leather purse is by no means cheap. And, unfortunately, the high price of this accessory absolutely does not guarantee its durability. A do-it-yourself leather purse will not only become a stylish addition to the image, but will also last a long time. And of course, there is no better gift for a loved one! Therefore, it is precisely the search for a solution on how to make a men's leather purse with your own hands that our today's master class will be devoted to.

Master class on making a leather purse with your own hands -

For work we need:

  • a piece of dense skin about 0.2 m2 in size;
  • strong threads of a suitable color;
  • scissors;
  • roller knife;
  • metal ruler;
  • awl;
  • 2 needles.

Getting Started

  1. Let's print out the pattern of our leather purse. We will sew a classic men's wallet with six credit card pockets. Its dimensions are chosen in such a way that paper money of any country and any denomination can fit in the purse. You can either draw the details of the pattern yourself according to the given sizes, or download and print it on a regular printer.
  2. Cut out templates of parts from thick cardboard.
  3. We transfer the pattern to the skin, making sure that the parts are the same size and do not move during cutting.
  4. We cut the skin with a roller knife. This must be done by passing a knife under the ruler. This will help you get straight and clean cuts.
  5. We punch holes on the details with an awl for future connecting seams. The diameter of the holes should be such that the needles pass freely through them.
  6. We put all the details of our wallet together so that the holes for the seams match.
  7. We begin to sew the details of the wallet with a special seam, working with two needles at the same time. Stitching should begin with the lines marked in blue on the diagram.
  8. We stretch one needle through the hole in part B and pull until the lengths of the threads on both sides become equal. Then we begin to connect parts B and D, paying attention to the fact that the threads are tight enough. Having finished connecting the parts, we fix and cut the working thread.
  9. In the same way, we perform the rest of the seams, and then carefully fasten the ends of the working thread and cut it off.
  10. As a result, we get such a neat purse that can easily fit in any pocket!

You can also do it yourself

Nothing boosts self-confidence like the ability to do something with your own hands. This is a source of pride that you can make an author's, exclusive thing that no one else has. And nothing will upset you more than an expensive purchase that did not meet your expectations. This article describes how a man can make his own practical and reliable wallet.

Your old tattered wallet

In everyday life, your wallet is used more than any other accessory, and although most fashion brand wallets look great in the window, in real life they lose their luster after a few months of heavy use. To ensure a real increase in sales, the manufacturer deliberately makes them so that they wear out quickly. Therefore, before spending money on buying a new wallet, you should think about making it with your own hands so that you will not part with it all your life.

Wallet design concepts.

Pattern (patterns) for a wallet

The basis of the wallet design concept is its well-thought-out construction. Shown here is the modern design of a streamlined wallet with a clean surface. Its size was determined taking into account the size of banknotes of the main world currencies. This wallet design is known as the Ambrosian design, which consists of four pieces of leather that are folded and stitched together into a wallet with one bill pocket and six card pockets.

materials

Leather

You will need about 0.2 square meters of leather. It is desirable that the skin was vegetable tanned and had a thickness of 3.2 mm. You can use thinner leather if you want your wallet to be very thin, and thicker leather if you don't mind the extra bulk of the wallet. Other types of leather can be used, but it is important that the leather be relatively stiff to ensure your wallet is firm.

Sewing

The color of the sewing thread should complement the color of the skin you have chosen. If you're unsure, ask your wife, mom, or mother-in-law for help. As a rule, darker threads go well with the color of the selected skin. As for the thickness of the thread, it is recommended to use those with which it is not less than TEX138 and not more than TEX270 (determines the weight in grams of one kilometer of thread)

Required Tools

  • Scissors
  • Furrier Knife (Razor)
  • square
  • (2) latches
  • Awl (or punch)
  • Thimble
  • (2) ball piercing needle.

wallet making

STEP 1

Cutting patterns and transferring them to the skin

If you agree with the proposed design, the first thing you need to do is print the design and cut out the paper patterns of all the details of the wallet. Next, carefully and carefully transfer them to the skin sheet.

USAG 2

Cutting out the details of the wallet and marking the seams in them

Now you have to carefully cut out the outlined details from the skin. Cutting leather with clean cuts is easy with a pivot blade and a pressed square, or with a furrier's knife. After the wallet pieces are cut out, you need to punch holes in them for stitching. To do this, use clamps to attach to the part the corresponding pattern and, in strict accordance with it, punch evenly spaced holes with an awl or an appropriate punch. Do this for all four pieces. The punched holes should be large enough for the needles and threads used so that they pass through without too much resistance. I note that it is better not to sew by hand without marking, as the seam will look sloppy.

STEP 3

Stitching Wallet Parts

You are now ready to stitch the pieces. At the beginning, smaller parts A and B are sewn at the upper level to part C, and then the assembled structure is sewn on the sides from above to part D. Further, joining along the punched perforation, we form pockets for cards. For clarity, the illustration shows colored stitches with the start and end points of sewing. There are various methods for hand stitching, but for this build, it is recommended that you use the saddle stitch method. Stitching is provided by one thread with two needles at its ends. To join two pieces together, align the holes in them and the weave of the thread of the two needles that have passed through this aligned hole.

Sewing method - saddle

STEP 4

The order of the formation of lines

To begin with, it is recommended to start with the blue stitch on part B. This stitch needs about 70 cm of thread. Pass one needle through the first hole at starting point B. Pull the thread through the hole until the needle ends are equal on both sides of the leather. Take one needle and run it through the next hole on the same side of the skin. Another needle through the same hole on the opposite side. Grasp both needles and tighten the stitch well and tightly. After the fourth hole, you need to be sure to start sewing piece D to piece B. Once you have reached the end point, then you need to pass both needles to the back side and interlace the two threads as shown in the middle of the picture, where they are both on the back side of part B. Take these two needles and use them to sew part B to part C.

STEP 5

To complete the blue stitch on part B, insert the needles between the two aligned holes of parts B and C, as shown in the photo above. After that, make sure the blue stitching is nice and tight all the way through and make any necessary adjustments. If everything is in order, you can tie two strands by making three consecutive knots from the top.

STEP 6

Formation of a red stitch on part B

The red stitching on piece A connects it to pieces D and C and is reversed but the same technique as the blue stitch.

Continuation of the formation of lines

We form a stitch in which the first 18 holes of this stitch will be used to connect pieces B and A to piece C. Once you get to the corners, you will begin to connect piece B and piece A to piece D and the stitches will cover the sides of the wallet.

STEP 8

Finishing stitching

When we bring the lines to the lower corners of part D, we draw the threads through the middle of the corner, tie them with three knots and cut off the rest of the thread. Your wallet is ready!
