The binder is an adhesive. The most common options are:

  1. Ordinary stationery glue or. It is most suitable for simple crafts performed by children of primary preschool age.
  2. Wallpaper glue. It is easy to prepare, which ensures wide application.
  3. Paste. It can be prepared independently by dissolving the starch in boiling water while stirring.

To impart certain properties to the mixture, other components are additionally introduced. Plasticity is imparted to the mass by vegetable oil and. To give strength to crafts after hardening, gypsum, alabaster or putty is added to the raw materials.

Attention! Each master has his own secrets of making papier-mâché and adjusts the recipe empirically in his own way.

The manufacturing technology of papier-mâché crafts includes several stages:

  1. Preparation of source material.
  2. Foundation formation. Several options may be used. - the mass is laid out on a flat surface in the form. Thin-walled - a complex shape is covered with a thick mixture, while the mass repeats all the depressions and bulges. A typical example is masks. Volumetric figures - they are formed on the frame or by analogy with plasticine. So you can make dolls and.
  3. Hardening crafts in natural conditions. The process can take several days, during which the product must be at rest.
  4. Coloring. After the figurine has completely hardened, its final painting is carried out with the drawing of all the details. The best option is . Volumetric coloring is provided by adding the desired dye (pigments, gouache) to the prepared raw material. Often the figurines are varnished (colorless or with a tinted effect).

Papier-mache is quite malleable material. Depending on the consistency, it can fill and repeat the most.

Idea! From it you can make decorative dishes, vases, caskets, figurines, various masks and decorative elements in different styles with your own hands. The fantasy of the master is not limited.

Crafts for the New Year

New Year's papier-mâché crafts can replace Christmas decorations and decorate the room. Beautiful balls can be made using the technique of mashing.

For such toys, you can take any base - rubber, plastic balls. Paper pieces are glued on top, which are painted and varnished. The papier-mache surface can be decorated with sparkles or small colorful pictures.

For the manufacture of three-dimensional figurines-decorations, a mixture is prepared. It's best to use toilet paper. A sufficiently plastic mass can be obtained by dissolving 1 roll of paper in 700-750 ml of water.

After obtaining a homogeneous mass, the water must be squeezed out, a binder (PVA glue, wallpaper glue or paste) should be added. The mixture should resemble thick sour cream in consistency. You can make figurines using children's sand molds. The mass is poured into them, and after curing, it is carefully removed and painted.

Features of making dolls

There are many ways to make a papier mache doll, from very simple children's crafts to original artistic creations.

The mass is prepared on the basis of loose paper - toilet paper, napkins, egg containers, etc. As an adhesive composition, PVA glue, wallpaper glue or paste is used. The consistency of the mass should correspond to soft plasticine.

There are many ways to make a papier mache doll, from very simple children's crafts to original art creations.

A simple doll is made in this order:

  1. A mold for the head is molded from plasticine. Then it is covered with a thin layer of paper pulp. After it hardens, it is necessary to make an incision through which to remove the plasticine. The final formation of the thickness of the workpiece is carried out by adding the required amount of mass. The thickness should be 5-6 mm. Eye sockets, nose, mouth, ears are formed.
  2. A wire frame is assembled for the body. The prepared mass is superimposed on it with the simultaneous formation of the neck, arms and legs.
  3. Connecting the torso to the head with PVA glue.
  4. The doll outfit is sewn from the fabric of the desired color.
  5. The whole doll is painted with white acrylic paint. You can add a little peach shade. Facial features are drawn.
  6. Hair is made of floss or woolen threads. They are glued to the head, a hairstyle is formed.
  7. Clothes are put on and fastened.

From papier-mâché, you can also make a complex doll with movable elements (articulated doll). Such crafts are within the power of an experienced craftsman.

It is assembled according to pre-prepared drawings. The composition includes the following ingredients: toilet paper, PVA glue, gypsum-based putty, liquid detergent.

From papier-mâché, you can also make a complex doll with movable elements (articulated doll)

The mass is prepared as follows. Paper is dissolved in hot water (55-65 degrees) for 5-6 hours, it is better to use a mixer for mixing. After obtaining a homogeneous mass, water is squeezed out through gauze, glue and detergent are added (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of the mixture). The last putty is introduced into the mixture (120-140 g / l).

All elements of the doll are fashioned from papier-mâché separately. For a movable connection between them, a strong tight elastic band or screw connection is used. In the latter case, a screw is inserted into one of the parts, and a nut into the adjacent element. The mating surfaces must be well finished to ensure a snug fit.

steampunk technique

Recently, steampunk figurines have come into fashion. In fact, this is a fantastic allegory with the transfer of ancient and outlandish elements.

In such figures, originality and irony are especially appreciated. The jumble of constituent elements may be the most unexpected, but they should create a unified impression.

Recently, steampunk figurines have come into fashion.

As an example of steampunk crafts, consider making a fantastic Fish.

The materials used are papier-mâché, foam board, cardboard, hardboard sheet, leatherette, carnations for furniture upholstery, various small gears, shells and all kinds of spare parts for household appliances.

As an example of steampunk crafts, consider making a fantastic Fish.

The base of the Rybka is made of a foam panel 1-1.5 cm thick. One longitudinal and several transverse corrugated cardboard ribs are placed on it. The entire base is covered with papier-mâché in the consistency of soft plasticine.

The fins are cut with a jigsaw from hardboard according to a cardboard pattern and fixed on papier-mâché. Scales can be formed from curtain rings and leatherette. From above, various parts of the mechanisms are installed. Here you need to show imagination, because. there is no specific order.

It is important that the fish look like a mechanized monster

It is important that the fish look like a mechanized monster. Shells are hung for decoration. You can sprinkle the figure with sand. Then the workpiece is primed to create a brown background, and some details are highlighted with golden acrylic paint. Finally, Rybka is varnished in 3-4 layers. The size of such crafts in length is 85-100 cm.

Making masks

Some of the most impressive papier-mâché crafts are African masks. Such handmade creations can decorate the interior of any apartment. Their size is 35-37 cm in height, 21-24 cm in width.

The mass is prepared on the basis of toilet paper. For one mask, 2 rolls are required. The paper is dissolved in hot water, and then mixed with PVA glue (420-440 g), and thick glue for construction work must be taken. To give plasticity, linseed oil (3 tbsp) is added. When mixing the mixture, it is advisable to use a mixer.

Some of the most impressive papier-mâché crafts are masks.

A spherical PVC food tray is well suited for the shape. Its configuration resembles a mask. A layer of pape-mache is superimposed on this form. The main details are laid out separately - nose, eyebrows, lips. Eyes are forming.

Smoothing is provided with fingers, as well as a stack and a knife. It will take 12-14 days for the complete curing of the craft. Then the mask is puttied with a thin layer and polished after the putty dries. The surface must be perfectly smooth.

Such handmade creations can decorate the interior of any apartment.

The coloring of the mask is carried out in a special mode. First, a primer is applied, and then the entire front surface is painted with white acrylic paint. The next step is to apply black paint on top.

After drying with a sponge, mother-of-pearl enamel is applied in the right places. The final operation is acrylic lacquer coating. You can use glossy or matte varnish. The photo shows examples of the execution of crafts.

Autumn papier mache mushrooms. Master Class

Dear needlewomen) I want to show you a very beautiful work of a craftswoman from the Land of Masters - moonlight_talk. I have been looking at papier-mache mushrooms for a long time ..., I think that now it's time to start creating them, I was inspired) Many thanks to the author for the master class!

The form of future crafts can be created literally from any material at hand. Things that could go to waste get a second life, thereby saving natural resources and developing your imagination. :)
In this case, the frame was: newspapers, paper sleeves, cling film, an old CD, a cut-out bottom of a plastic bottle (which has become a small mushroom cap) and a bottom-stand from a cosmetic gift set. You can create a frame from any other items you have in your home.
To fasten the materials together, I had to use adhesive tape. I covered the bottom with paper pulp. Since the goal was only to fill the empty space, which would then be invisible anyway, the mass was made according to the simplest recipe. I soaked my former essays in a basin for 3 days, periodically kneading them with my hands. By the end of the third day, I "ground" the paper in a blender, resulting in something like gruel. I mixed it with PVA glue, squeezed out the rest of the water through gauze. By the way, I did a little experiment and rolled up a small ball without glue - to check if the shape will hold. When the ball dried, it turned out that the shape is holding, and even perfectly. So, perhaps, it was possible to do even without PVA

So, we made a frame, if necessary, waited for the paper mass to dry. Now we find in the bins or take a newspaper from the mailbox and tear it into pieces. In places of rounding, we need long narrow pieces, otherwise look at the situation. If you have a large mold, it makes sense to make larger pieces so as not to waste a lot of time. I made pieces about 2 x 2 cm.
We throw some of the prepared pieces into the water and begin to close up the frame with these wet pieces. We pay attention to the fact that the pieces fit tightly to the frame.
By the way, about the water. For some reason, instructions are given everywhere to pour PVA glue into the water. I made it easier. I applied glue to the frame before wrapping it with newspaper, and after. It held up great, no problems.
After sticking around the form in 1-2 layers, we wait until it dries completely; I took breaks at 12-24 hours. Then we apply a new layer, no more than 2 at a time. Actually, maybe more is possible, but I decided to stick to the advice that it’s better not to do this.

I had enough for 4 layers, after which I sanded the workpiece with fine-grained sandpaper and proceeded to priming. For this I used white acrylic paint and a sponge. For convenience, I cut off a part from it and attached it with an elastic band to the back of the brush. It turned out such a tool. :) In my opinion, using a sponge is better than an ordinary brush. First, it's faster - it's a fact. Secondly, after applying paint in this way, the workpiece acquires a uniform rough surface. Difficult to achieve uniformity with a brush

To prime our craft, you will need about 2-3 layers of paint. In this case, the next layer is applied after the previous one has dried. Our main task is to make the craft completely white.

The frame was made, glued in pieces, sanded, primed ... Now you can move on to the most pleasant part of the work - coloring the product! For coloring, I, again, used acrylic paints and a sponge. True, at the stage of decorating the legs, I had to work with a brush in order to show the "spotting", this should be visible in the photo.
At the end, the finished work is recommended to be completely varnished. But I only covered the top of the hats with it, because. the surface after varnish is shiny, and a shiny mushroom stem or stand, it seems to me, would look unnatural.

We complete the picture, add naturalness: grass, a twig from the forest, a homemade leaf. We attach the whole thing with PVA glue.

It took about a month to create these mushrooms. But in reality, it's not so scary. The main part is the expectation: when the mass dries, layers, paint ...

Kotelnikova Elena Ivanovna

the first thing we do is wash fruits and vegetables which we are going to make out papier mache.

Here the paper is soaked and we take a piece of paper and apply it to fruit or vegetable, and so we do until the whole fruit or vegetable will not be covered with pieces of paper.

We have the preliminary layer ready. It is only made of water and paper to ensure that the first layer does not stick to vegetable or fruit.

The next layer will already be with a paste. That's what it is papier mache.

We make a paste. Just like in the first layer, we tear the paper and lower it into the paste. Let the paper soak. We cover fruit or vegetable paper from a cup with paste. So the first layer with paste is ready. This option lays out 4-5 layers.

Be careful not to confuse the previous layers!

When all layers are done, place this fruit or vegetable in the oven. We turn on the oven at a low temperature, the main thing is that the oven is warm. We do this in order not to wait 12 hours for all layers of paper with paste to dry.

Don't set the heat too high, the layers may burn!

Once the layers are dry, remove from the oven. fruit or vegetable and let it cool. Cutting the layers papier-mache in the middle and carefully pull out fruit or vegetable.

In order to connect these halves, we will use PVA glue.

To shape out papier-mâché fruit or vegetable later it didn’t break, we glue the seam connected with PVA glue with additional pieces of paper with a paste. Let's dry.

Since this is still handmade, the shapes may not be very even. For a more even shape (best result) we used putty. The next day, when the putty has dried, we sand it.

Sanded, got rid of dust. Let's start coloring fruits and vegetables.

In our case, in this way, we first covered the cucumber shape with layers and putty, then the lemon, then the tomato. In the photo you see a peeled pear and an apple. In the background, you also observe a plate on which lemon, cucumber and tomato are already dyed.

We also made this plate from papier mache.

Let's start coloring it.

Since the garden in which I work has an artistic and aesthetic orientation, it was decided that the plate would be painted in the style of Gzhel painting.

Let's see what we got.

Then we color in the shape of the apple and pear.

We have everything painted, now there is little left to do.

In any hardware store we buy aerosol varnish and cover our vegetables and fruits.

Let the varnish dry.

This is the beauty we have.

Let's create a wonderful fairy tale in our yard and put funny fairy-tale characters on our site or in the garden, these are boletus mushrooms. I think that many still remember the good old Russian fairy tales, where mushrooms also take part in them. These funny, funny fairy-tale characters can also be placed on the playground, children will be very happy to see them in their fairy-tale world) Crafts for the garden can be made from various materials and they all turn out beautiful and original in their own way. But today we will consider a master class on making a cute papier mache mushroom, the author of this master class is Natalya Chusovitina. Also, if you are interested, you can look at the site for other interesting crafts for the garden, which are made from affordable and simple materials. And today we will consider with you two interesting master classes on making a mushroom from plastic bottles and papier-mâché.

* Plastic bottles
* Knife.
* Scissors.
* Newspaper.
* Scotch.
* Basin.
* Rag.
* Self-tapping screws.
* Dye.
* Varnish.

How to make papier mache mushroom:
First, we will form the leg of the mushroom, take three plastic bottles and collect them together, fix them with tape. At the fourth bottle, we cut off the neck and put it on those three bottles that have just been fixed with tape. See as shown in the photo, and you should succeed.

Now we take newspapers and begin to increase the volume, on the shape of the legs, with the help of newspapers and adhesive tape.

Well, it's starting to look like a fungus leg. We glue it with newspapers, then we coat it with a mass of papier-mâché and fashion everything that we have planned on the form (nose, eyes, cheeks, eyebrows, etc.).

Now we will make a hat for our mushroom, also using the papier-mâché technique. Natalya took two basins and used them to create a hat for our mushroom. The photo shows how to put the basins to make the hat more convex and beautiful.

Let's try on our hat, I think it turned out handsome!!!

Flipping mushroom and at the base of the leg we wind the screws, we do this so that the leg of the mushroom then sits firmly.

Now we're going to cover up everything. Fill with mass - alabaster + cement mixture + sawdust and mix everything with water. We give the desired shape and then dry our fungus.

We also fill this mixture into the base of the mushroom cap.

Next, our finished fungus needs to be dried well, we remove it until completely dry for about a couple of days. It all depends on what size you got the fungus, if it is small it will dry quickly, and if it is large it will take more time. Then, when the mushroom dries well, paint it and varnish it.

Here is our ready papier mache fungus. It remains to find him the right application in the garden.

We examined one master class on making a mushroom, I think it would be nice to see another master class. After all, creating DIY crafts for your garden plot is interesting and exciting.
How much can you create with your own hands from improvised materials. These can be various crafts for the garden, and besides, they do not need to spend a lot of money. And most importantly, they will be copyrighted and unique in their own way. Well, let's get started and consider with you another interesting MK for making a mushroom from a plastic bottle and papier-mâché. The author of this master class is Olga Koronnova.

To make a mushroom, we need:
* Plastic bottle.
* Plastic cap (can be used from mayonnaise).
* Scissors.
* Scotch.
* Newspapers.
* Basin.
* Trays from eggs.
* PVA glue.
* Gypsum putty.
* Non-woven adhesive.
* Acrylic paints.
* Food processor.
* Facade paint-white-matte.
* Yacht varnish.

How to make a mushroom:
In the plastic cap we make a hole in the middle for a plastic bottle. Now let's start making our fungus. We take a plastic bottle and put a cap on it.

Now we take a newspaper and with the help of it we create volume for our mushroom and fix everything with adhesive tape.

Next, cut the newspaper into strips. Pour water into a small container and add a little PVA glue or non-woven glue to it. Mix well and dip the strips into it. Glue the finished strips on our fungus in several layers

To make papier mache we need:

* Basin.
* Trays from eggs.
* PVA glue.
* Gypsum putty.
* Non-woven adhesive.
* Food processor.

Now let's make papier-mâché to make our hero more natural. We take egg trays and soak them in water for several hours, it is better to soak them overnight.

Then squeeze a little, if there is excess water, it must be removed. Next, we need a food processor, we grind this mass from egg trays in it. We add gypsum putty, non-woven glue, PVA glue to the finished mass, mix everything well.

We should get an elastic mass (papier-mâché) for making a mushroom.

We coat our workpiece with the resulting mass.

We fashion our character's eyes, nose, pens, etc.

We give time for everything to dry well and apply facade-white paint. Then we paint with acrylic paints or any other of our hero. We give time for the paint to dry and apply varnish in several layers.

Look how funny the boletus fungus turned out from a plastic bottle and papier-mâché. I think that he will take a worthy place in your garden or on the playground.

In conclusion, I want to show you an interesting video master class on making a mushroom. Watch, write comments and subscribe to new articles.
