What do you know about jeans? What jeans are in your wardrobe? Jeans styles are completely different, ranging from classic and ending. The inventor of jeans gave the world a unique attribute that broke down class differences and outdid himself. In this article, you will learn how to make flared jeans from old jeans with your own hands and shorten jeans while maintaining the branded bottom.

Changed your mind about altering jeans into flared ones, then make jeans out of old ones.

Lay out the legs on a flat surface and draw defining lines. To do this, measure the circumference of the leg around the knee, taking into account the freedom of movement of the leg. The resulting value will be the width of the legs in the knee area. Apply it to jeans by calculating: from the total size of the leg (at knee level), subtract the resulting value (knee girth). Divide the difference in half: set aside one value from the step seam, and the other from the side.

Do the same with the second leg. With such an accurate calculation, you will not have asymmetries and distortions of the seams. Connect the obtained points with the bottom, the line of the hips (along the side seam) and the middle seam (along the crotch seam).

Pin with pins and machine stitch along the lines.

Mark an allowance of 1.5 cm from the line, cut off the excess with scissors.

Overcast cuts on the overlock:

Iron the allowances.

What to do if the jeans are too big? In this case, the information contained in the articles is useful to you: and.

Laying arrows

To give flared jeans a classic look, you can make arrows. In this case, these will be stitched arrows to the level of the knee in front and behind. To do this, fold the legs so that the side and crotch seams on the legs match. Secure the seams with pins and iron the legs in the centers to the level of the knee.

Fasten the arrows with machine stitching 0.1 - 0.2 cm from the edge with threads in the color of the finishing stitches.

If your jeans need repairs, then articles will come to the rescue:, and

Finishing the bottom of the jeans

Set aside 1.5 cm from the line (the width of the bottom hem).

Cut along the marked line.

The resulting allowance is 1.5 cm. iron inside:

Then fold the cuff along the fold with the allowances inward and fix it again with an iron. So you get a cuff that resembles a fringing.

Align the bottom of the jeans to the desired length, no hem allowance needs to be added.

Now, with the resulting cuff, turn around the bottom so that the cut of the bottom of the jeans is inside the cuff.

Attention! Do not confuse the cuffs when connecting: the left cuff with the left leg, the right cuff with the right leg.

Lay the machine stitch with threads in the color of the finishing stitches, clearly along the line of the old stitch, line by line.

Remove the tacking threads, iron the bottom.

As you can see, converting old jeans into flared jeans is not a difficult task. Most often, the difficulty lies in the lack of information. Flared jeans are back in fashion and have become classics, and classic style, as you know, never goes out of style. Therefore, think about reworking old jeans and use my master class. My . I'm on Twitter. Look on Youtube.

Hello, dear readers of the site cutting and sewing site. Do jeans shrink? Certainly! And to sew in jeans along the side seams, this is the simplest thing that can be done. With the right approach, you can not even touch the rivet that secures the pocket near the side seam. It is also possible to sew in the belt. Believe it or not, jeans can even be enlarged at the waist. The belt in this case may remain "native". A belt is attached under the label in this case.

Can jeans be sewn in

So, you can sew in jeans. The question is how to get them. The proposed method is not quite standard. But first, let's see what happened before and what happens after.

Let's save abandoned flared jeans by making some kind of skinny out of them. Yes, just sew them on the sides. It makes no sense to do this on beautiful jeans. Better experiment with pants for which there is no feeling. who no longer receive any love.

Step 1: Turn Jeans Inside Out

By the way, it looks funny.

Step 2: Determine the allowance to be removed.

  1. Pull excess fabric towards the side seam.
  2. Starting from the knee line and to the bottom cut, using pinning, pick up excess fabric.
  3. Both legs should look something like this

Step 3: Lay out the jeans

Carefully remove jeans (there are needles).

If there are jeans to look up to, then they can act as a template when comparing how the legs are pinned up. Just layer them on top and compare. The photo shows that the pins are pierced a little more than the template jeans. It's even good and normal. It is better to leave more. Big things can always be made small. You also need to focus on how the fabric stretches.

We smooth out all wrinkles. To sew in jeans along the side seams carefully, smooth out wrinkles from the side seam to the step. You may need to pierce a few pins. Main, make sure that the future seam along the entire length has no wrinkles.

Step 4: Draw the Seam Line

Using a ruler, create a straight line passing through the chipping points. At some point, the line will intersect with an existing seam. The transition must be smooth.

The cut line is drawn with perfectly evenly interconnected felt-tip pens. Better with a pen and marker. The purple line from the pen will be less visible than the black one. But on black it will be possible to expose the foot. In general, the thinner the stitching line is drawn, the more accurately you can lay a line. The indentation of the cut is approximately 1.5 centimeters.

Step 5: Sew a New Seam

First, let's try and sew between the stitching line and the cut line. We remove the pins as we stitch. If the legs need to be shortened, then you can undercut to the bottom cut. A fastener is placed.

Step 6: Remove Excess Material

We try on, if the width is amazing, then nothing needs to be done. It remains only to process the bottom cut. If the width is large, then we lay another line parallel to the one just laid. Focusing on the foot, we also sew in 1.5 centimeters. We use the previous line as a guide.

When we are satisfied with the width of the properly sewn jeans, we need to cut off the excess material. In this case, we cut along the first line.

The cut off surplus should match the shape as much as possible.

Step 7: Finishing the New Bottom Line

We turn twice. The slice will be closed. Each time the gates are ironed.

Step 8: Bottom Stitch

On a household machine, you can remove the sleeve platform. This will make it easier for the stitching on the bottom of the leg to run smoothly. Moreover, the bottom has become narrower, due to the fact that the jeans are sutured.

The bottom of the collar acts as a guide when laying a line. We sew starting from the step seam. We pass thickenings by turning the flywheel manually.

Step 9: Done

Jeans should lay out well on the plane.

Let's take a look in your closet - how many jeans have accumulated there that you for some reason stopped wearing? You will probably be surprised that you can simply store so many jeans, and in fact many of them are still in trend or made of very high quality material. Well, today we will try to correct this mistake and bring back “to life” at least those pairs that are slightly (or even much) big on your sides or along the length of the leg. Is it possible to sew in jeans at home and not ruin the product? Yes, yes and yes again! After reading our recommendations to the end, you will be convinced that sewing on jeans with your own hands is very simple and any girl who does not have special skills as a dressmaker can handle this business.

Clothing according to the figure: stylish and neat

Jeans are one of the favorite things of the entire beautiful (and not only) half of humanity, and all because they are practical, fashionable and perfectly emphasize the dignity of the silhouette. But at the same time, they have one drawback - all models are sewn, as they say, one size fits all, i.e. according to the standard norms of the figure. To correct such an injustice, you just need to sew in your favorite jeans in some places. To do this, you need a little patience, determination and a sewing machine at hand.

Problem 1. How to sew in jeans at the waist?

In order to make jeans one size smaller at the waist, you need to prepare a centimeter, scissors, tailor's pins (sold at any sewing store), a sewing machine and threads to match the material. There are two ways to sew jeans at the waist - simple and more difficult. We'll look at both.

The simplest thing is to fit the pants to your figure with the help of darts. The step by step instructions are as follows:

1. Put on jeans and visually mark the places where the tucks will be less noticeable (as a rule, they are made on the back of the product in the buttocks area). You should also determine how many centimeters the jeans will need to be sewn in at the waist.

2. Now open a few centimeters in the belt in the places of future tucks.

3. Baste undercuts. Try on the jeans again. If there are enough reductions in the belt, you can sew tucks on a typewriter.

4. Now you need to sew in the belt. To do this, carefully cut off the extra centimeters of the material and carefully stitch the cuts with a machine stitch, having previously swept them away by hand.

Advice! Do not make the darts in the belt too long - this will lead to the fact that in the buttocks area the entire product will begin to “bounce” up.

The second way is to sew in jeans on the center back seam:

1. The first thing to do to fit the product is rip off the belt loops, which are located near the rear center seam. If it concerns the company label, if it is also sewn very close.

2. Now you need rip the belt ten centimeters on either side of the center. The middle seam also needs to be cut eight to ten centimeters down. Remove the rest of the threads, and fasten the spacers. Do it carefully so that you don't have to fix it later.

3. Iron everything carefully.

4. Now turn the product inside out inside out and fold the legs so that the middle seam is turned towards you. Secure both halves of the jeans with tailor's pins to prevent shifting.

5. The most crucial moment has come - you need to draw with chalk or remnants line of the future middle seam. To avoid mistakes, draw it as follows: first, mark in the upper part (i.e. at the junction with the belt) a point at the distance you need (this distance is equal to half your reduction). Now, with a smooth line, connect the point and the place of the bartack you made on the central seam. Try not to make the line crooked.

6. Next step - sweep away the resulting tuck and try on jeans. If everything is in order, grind the tuck on a sewing machine, cut off the excess fabric with an allowance (0.7 - 1 cm) and overcast the edges with a zigzag stitch or overlock.

7. Now turn the product right side out and sew two parallel stitches, repeating the factory middle seam.

8. The next step - you need sew on a belt. To do this, attach it to the finished main product and cut off the extra centimeters. Be sure to consider allowances.

9. With the waistband folded in half, right side in, machine stitch at the seam and finish the edges. Now turn the belt over and iron it carefully.

10. Baste the belt back to the product and try on the jeans. If everything suits you, then you can stitch the swept seam and sew the belt loops / factory label to their native place.

Problem 2. How to narrow the legs?

If the jeans are too big for you in the legs, then you can quietly sew them in along the inside seam. It is done like this:

1. Turn jeans inside out and try them on. Mark the places for the future new seam with pins on the inside.

2. Carefully remove the item. Lay it out on a flat surface.

3. Now draw a small dotted line on the pins. The pins should be left so that the fabric does not move. Correct the line, continuing it to the very top along the inside of the product. If your jeans need to be sewn in only along the leg, without affecting the depth of the fit, then the new line should begin at a distance of about three to five centimeters from the middle seam. If you need to take in the depth of planting, then, accordingly, the line should start from the central seam.

Advice! In order to properly sew a thing, it is better to use a pattern, but if you do not know how to build patterns, then try to make your markup repeat the factory seam as much as possible.

4. Make a 1 cm allowance near the new seam line.

5. Cut off excess material, taking into account the allowances. Fold the legs one on top of the other and transfer the markup.

6. Sweep them by hand first, and then sew with a sewing machine - this will make it easier for you to sew a neat straight stitch.

7. Iron and finish free edges.

Problem 3. How to remove the flare?

Turn your jeans inside out and put them on. Mark the desired leg width with pins. It is advisable to make reductions on both sides of the leg.

  • After removing the item, lay it out on a flat surface.
  • In the places of the pins, draw a dotted line with chalk, continuing it from the knee down. If the pins are uneven, correct them, but do not remove them.
  • Baste the legs by hand, taking into account the allowances and try on.
  • Now you can cut off the excess fabric and sew overstitch and overlock stitches on the machine.
  • Iron the seams from the wrong side.
  • Wear updated jeans with pleasure!

So we looked at the most common ways to sew in jeans at home. Do not throw your favorite model far into the closet - now you yourself will be able to fit it to your figure without resorting to expensive services of professional ateliers. Be bold - and your girlfriends will surely envy your outfits!

Even if you are a happy owner of a super-standard figure, you must have wondered at least once: how to sew in jeans? And it’s not at all about those cases when the thing was bought out of size. It happens that it is difficult to pick up tight pants for thin legs. It happens that the model is not satisfied with the width of the trousers. And there is also such that jeans fit perfectly, but they are a little puffy at the waist, the reason for this is the features of the figure.

So, if you do not know how it is at home, this is not a reason to carry them to the atelier. They charge so much for such a service that it’s easier to buy new ones. Decided! We take out a sewing machine, threads, tailor's chalk, scissors and tailor's pins (those with round heads).

That depends on the place that we want to reduce. You can do this in three places - in the back of the belt, on the sides and the legs at the bottom.

The first case is "your" if you have a strong deflection in the lower back, then even the tightest jeans at the back of the waist are a little puffy. To get rid of this defect, we take the following steps. We rip the back seam, cut the belt lengthwise, after rebuffing the belt loop (belt loop). Before unripping, you need to measure how many extra centimeters you need to remove. We divide these centimeters by two and draw with chalk on each side how much needs to be removed. The line goes from top to bottom, gradually disappears to "no" towards the end. Before cutting off excess fabric, measure how many centimeters are taken for allowances on the left and right (usually these are different values).

So, the excess fabric is cut off, according to the measured allowances, we combine the parts, sweep, sew, fold inward O Lsh allowance, stitching. Turn out to the front side.

We cut off the excess fabric from the belt, sew the belt, sew the loop back. Ready! By the same principle, jeans are sutured from the sides. Only the side seams are ripped, of course, the belt is cut on the sides. We cut off the excess fabric, re-sew the side parts and the belt, return the belt loops to their place.

Also, the question of how to sew jeans in trousers is not of great difficulty. For example, if you have flared jeans, and you have a passion for skinny jeans! Of course, if you have rapper jeans, take them in or don't take them in - panties "in a slip" will not come out. The rest can be dealt with.

Before narrowing the jeans at home, we put them on, stand in front of the mirror (it is better to stock up on an assistant). With tailor's pins, we carefully pin those places that we would like to remove. This must be done on the front side. It is enough, however, to stab only one leg, and measure the second on it, otherwise there is a great risk of getting different widths.

After pinning, carefully remove the jeans, turn them inside out, mark the places of pinning from the wrong side with tailor's chalk. We remove the pins, draw the line of the future seam along the lines, it should be as even as possible. Next, we combine both legs, along the drawn line we pierce all layers of fabric through and through, draw a cut line on the second leg.

We cut off the excess, sweep the seams, sew on a typewriter, process the edges with a zigzag or overlock. turn out, try on. In general, it is very useful to try on the product several times in the process.

Now you know how to sew jeans at home. Dare!

More and more gaining popularity. And it is not surprising that many people have a question - how to convert wide jeans into skinny jeans? How to narrow your jeans yourself? Why remake, and not buy new ones in the store. Because doing something with your own hands is interesting. And because almost everyone has wide jeans that are already tired. But which may well serve and even become a wardrobe decoration as tight jeans. Banal savings on buying new jeans can also be a reason to do denim needlework. But there is another reason to make your own skinny jeans. As a rule, these jeans sit on you much more comfortably than any bought in the store.

Making skinny jeans out of wide ones is quite within the power of anyone who knows how to hold a needle in their hands and handle a sewing machine. There are several ways to make skinny jeans out of wide jeans.

First way. Simplest.

Turn your jeans inside out and put them on.

We pin the jeans with pins along the outer seam or along the inner seam (depending on your body and on the original style of the jeans) so that they fit the body tightly. At this stage it is better to ask someone to help. Because it is difficult to stand up straight and pin the pins tight to your body on your own. If you bend down, then pinning the jeans neatly may not work.

Carefully remove the jeans, draw a line along the pins and sweep along the drawn line.

We try on the jeans again, leaving them turned inside out. Correct if necessary. Usually you have to grab a little more, usually in the upper part.

We sew the seam on the machine. On the stitched seam, draw a line on the second leg and sew it in the same way. How to make a seam depends on your desire and on your capabilities.

The second way. Not much harder than the first, but requires skinny jeans that fit you perfectly.

We turn the jeans inside out and lay them out on a large table or on the floor.

We attach our tight jeans to them and mark a new seam line on the wide jeans.

We are not stitching yet, but we are simply sweeping jeans about the intended line.

We put on sour cream jeans turned inside out and adjust the new seam in place, pinning where necessary with pins. Just like we did in the previous method.

Again we sweep over the pinned pins.

You can try on jeans again and if everything is fine, we sew the seam on a typewriter. On the first leg we make the second.

Both methods have a common complexity. These are the existing seams. If the jeans are stitched on the outside with a double seam, and the jeans need to be narrowed from the hip, then the seam will be a hindrance. No matter how hard we try, the transition from the old seam to the new one will be noticeable. The solution may be to completely cut out the old seam. But this is not always possible. Another way is to carefully cut the seam to the right place on both sides. And after the jeans are narrowed, sew it right over the new seam. But this method is also not without drawbacks.

The solution may be to choose jeans without a double outer seam. Or use the third way to narrow the jeans.

The third way. Perhaps not the most complex in terms of technology, but definitely not simple and very laborious. But the most interesting.

After we have decided on the line along which the jeans should be sewn (it doesn’t matter how: along other tight jeans or directly along the leg), we cut out the excess fabric, as if making a cut on the legs. We sew the edges and sew from the inside to the cut, instead of a seam, a patterned fabric or. Finishing the cut with stitched stripes of denim will look great. Cut off pieces of jeans are suitable for this. This method is great (and solves the problem) if you need to narrow your jeans from the hip.

Fourth way. The most difficult way, requiring not only tight jeans that fit perfectly on you and are already worn out or damaged, but also cutting and sewing skills.

We just rip wide jeans into separate patterns. Then we rip out the old or damaged skinny jeans and transfer the patterns of skinny jeans to pieces of wide jeans. If you have proven patterns for skinny jeans, then you may not need old skinny jeans. We cut out new patterns and re-sew the jeans. This method is not really a remake. It is rather the manufacture of jeans, which not every atelier can handle.

It is quite possible that you have more ideas - how to narrow wide jeans, how to make skinny skinny jeans out of boring wide jeans. Share these ideas.
