In 1907, a woman first appeared in a swimsuit to the public. The costume, which was self-sewn from men's tights and the top of the dress, was demonstrated by an Australian swimmer who was immediately arrested for "indecent behavior." In 1946, a French couturier invented the open bikini swimsuit. Its name comes from the name of the Pacific coral island. In the late 50s, the fashion for swimwear came to the USSR. The bikini model was considered indecent in the Soviet Union until the early 1990s.

Product features

The patterns on the basis of which you can create ladies' swimwear with your own hands are similar to the cut of various models of women's underwear (panties, bras, tops, bodysuits). In addition to the range of elastic swimwear, there is a model line of knitwear.

Types of seams for processing models

  • "Overlok" - for simultaneous stitching and processing.
  • "Overlok" with an elastic thread with water resistance.
  • Zigzag with a narrow step and a stitch of medium length (for stapling), as well as a wide or three-step stitch for overcasting.

  2. The best option is an elastic band 1 cm wide.
  3. The elastic is combined with the raw edge of the model. Its center is stitched with a wide zigzag seam. The edge is overlocked.

"Tankini" based on finished products

  1. The pattern of the swimming trunks of such a suit can be obtained if the finished product is duplicated on paper - whole or divided at the seams.
  2. From the prepared fabric, the details of the front and back parts are cut out, as well as an insert to create a cotton lining in the gusset area.
  3. Fragments are combined along the bottom edge.
  4. The top as part of such a model can be a “top tankini” with thin straps and laces gathered in the center of the chest. The color of the top of the model may be radically different from the bottom.
  5. The inner side of the bodice of the upper part is provided with a fabric strip with three seams along the detail of the top. Laces are threaded into the holes obtained, which are tied above the bodice, from above.
  6. If you sew a strip of fabric of a certain length to such a top, you get a mini-dress for swimming.

"Bikini" from T-shirts

  1. The bottom edges of the product are cut off.
  2. From the remaining thing, cut out two strips about 5 cm wide to create tie details.
  3. The strips are divided into 2 fragments.
  4. Two more ribbons are cut. One of them is divided in two, the other remains intact. There should be 7 fabric strips in total.
  5. From a T-shirt of a different color, the upper part of the model is made.
  6. A wide double strip of arbitrary width is cut out. Its length corresponds to the measurement of the girth of the chest.
  7. The layers are sewn together to make the bodice tight.
  8. On paper, a pattern of a triangular bodice cup with a rounded base is made. The cut is mirrored. Details are cut from a two-layer fabric blank.
  9. The edges of future cups are processed.
  10. Top drawstrings are attached to the top of the cup-shaped parts.
  11. The lower edge of the fragments is made in the form of a drawstring.
  12. A lower (long) lace is threaded through the drawstring.
  13. From the third T-shirt of another color, a three-dimensional rectangle is cut out.
  14. The parts of the rectangle are stitched together.
  15. Lateral regions are cut out from the obtained tissue fragment. The result should be a figure whose contours resemble an hourglass (two isosceles trapezoids united by a vertex).
  16. Laces are sewn to each of the four sharp corners of the resulting figure.
  17. The top has an elastic band.

leggings product

And elastic thin trousers (leggings) can serve as the basis for creating a bathing suit.

  1. The model is cut along the seams, starting from the waist. Leave uncut sections 5 cm from the bottom.
  2. The workpiece is folded so that the cuts are on the side.
  3. The front and back must remain intact.
  4. Ready-made swimming trunks are applied to the fabric of leggings and circled around the contour.
  5. The details of the swimming trunks are cut out, sewn together.
  6. The bodice is made from the leg of the former leggings.
  7. Two triangles are drawn on the fabric. The figures are cut and processed.
  8. A strip of elastic fabric is attached to the bottom of the parts to create ties on the back. The upper part is also supplied with laces.
  9. A series of narrow strips of material can be attached to the details of the bodice, which will create a thick, long decorative fringe.

Modern elastic fabrics are mostly able to stretch along. Some species can stretch across. Due to this, the product gets the opportunity to fit closer to the body.

Larger sizes are made of dense materials: elastane, microfiber, lycra. In this case, it is better to make an elastic band latex.

Of course, nowadays everything can be bought. But if your girl is still quite a baby, then you need to especially take care of the quality of her clothes. The flip side of the wide variety of everything your heart desires in modern stores is the frequent inconsistency in the quality of the materials used. Hence, allergic reactions, prickly seams and many other troubles to which small children are especially susceptible.

More recently, toddlers' bathing suits were limited to panties alone, and from a very early age they flaunt on the beach in fashionable swimsuits. From the point of view of hygiene and aesthetics, this is more than correct. But even if you bought a swimsuit for a small child in a large branded store, he does not have to be comfortable in it - fabric that is unpleasant to the body, poorly bent seams and other “little things” that are not noticeable at first glance will cause a lot of inconvenience to the baby, especially if He still plainly can not explain to you what is wrong.

To avoid such incidents, it is best to sew a bathing suit for a child with your own hands, then the swimsuit will definitely be made “in good faith”.

Elastane or polyamide is best for sewing a swimsuit - this fabric dries quickly, stretches well and does not lose its shape for a long time. Such a swimsuit will faithfully serve the baby for several years until she grows out of it.

Before you start sewing, decide on the model of the future bathing suit. For the smallest, a one-piece swimsuit is more suitable so that during active games, the top or bottom is not lost in the water, there is no inconvenience from a twisted bodice, and simply because such a model looks more suitable on kids. And for older girls, you can sew a separate swimsuit or monokini swimsuit (trikini). Pay attention to the straps: if they are crossed at the back, they will not fall off the child's shoulders.

Detailed description of the process of sewing a separate swimsuit:

A very unusual, but original way of sewing a swimsuit from an old lycra T-shirt or leggings is shown in the video. Here is such a one!

Breaking almost the entire world wide web, I picked up some interesting, in my opinion, ideas on how to make a swimsuit.

DIY swimsuit

Have you ever wanted to make your own swimsuit? Have you ever had such a creative thought? For example, she visited me recently. A cousin called and asked for advice on what swimsuit to choose: one-piece or two-piece, bikini or tankini, push-up or bandeau, what color or what print? In general, she tortured me a lot)))

After thinking a little, after this difficult conversation for me, I decided - why not sew a swimsuit myself? After all, it will be very entertaining and useful, and most importantly, you will definitely not find the same swimsuit on the beach. But then the question arose: how to sew it, what material to use, what sewing technique?

Breaking almost the entire world wide web, I picked up some interesting, in my opinion, ideas on how to make a swimsuit. For myself, I noted a lot of advantages of these master classes:

Firstly, they are quite light and easy to perform. The entire course of work is given in the video and photo in detail and step by step.

Secondly, they require absolutely no costs, since the swimsuit is made from old unnecessary things (provided that you have a sewing machine and threads).

Thirdly, with the help of these video and photo lessons, you can sew a one-piece swimsuit, separate with frills, a skirt or a bandeau top.

Well, and most importantly, I think, having mastered these rather simple techniques and some of their tricks, you will be able to easily come up with something new, your own. Happy experiments!

We invite you to see a photo tutorial on how to make a swimsuit, or rather a bandeau top with your own hands, from a simple black T-shirt. The whole course of action is shown in great detail in the photo.

This is what you need.

We wrap the ring with a thick thread and cut 4 wide strips from the T-shirt.

We sew the strips together, we should get 2 double stripes (this will be the basis for the top).

We put the bases of the strips together and fix them, weave a pigtail.

Cut out two more pieces of fabric for the lining.

We thread the stripes for the bandeau top into the ring.

A one-piece swimsuit must be in the wardrobe of every woman: it is needed for active swimming in the sea, a beach photo shoot. Sometimes it is difficult to find the right product: the model does not fit or the color does not like. In this case, you can sew a one-piece swimsuit yourself.

How to sew a one-piece swimsuit: options

There are many models of one-piece swimsuits, which can be divided into main groups:

  • Models of one-piece swimsuits without upper strings are called bandeau. They are great as they "balance" the lower body.
  • One-piece traditional swimwear models are called mayo.
  • If the swimsuit has straps cut along with the main part, this is a tank. Wide straps provide secure support for large breasts.

  • In a one-piece halter, the upper ties are fixed around the neck, which creates the visual effect of a fuller chest and wider shoulders. This model "balances" large hips.

  • The high-neck swimsuit has a sports focus. A small cutout in the front helps to visually lengthen the body.

  • Plunge models are suitable for slender short women with small breasts. They have a large cutout front and back of the swimsuit. This allows you to create the effect of increasing the growth and size of the breast.

  • At the level of the hips of a one-piece swimsuit, a swim-dress is sewn with an imitation of a skirt, which helps to disguise full hips.

Models with a corsage decorate and correct the figure due to the swimsuit sewn from the inside. Cups are sewn on for chest comfort. The bodice is cut out of light knitwear, stretching in all directions. Or choose non-stretch fabrics to get a rigid corsage.

One-piece swimsuit pattern

For sewing a swimsuit, you can use ready-made patterns that are easy to find in specialized sewing publications, on thematic forums and websites. Some of them are shown in the photo below.

Experienced seamstresses can build the pattern themselves, based on a base length below mid-thigh. To do this, copy the back and front of the pattern, correct them, design cutouts for the legs. Additionally, a gusset pattern is built.

How to sew a one-piece swimsuit with cups

In order to sew a model's swimsuit as in the photo, you will need:

  • colored fabric;
  • elastic band;
  • cups;
  • bones;
  • sewing threads and sewing machine.

The finished pattern is transferred to the fabric, circled with chalk. Then cut out taking into account allowances for seams. Next, the parts are sewn in the following order:

  1. The central parts of the cups need to be sewn with the side ones, then delay the seams. Next, the upper parts of the cups are attached.
  2. To obtain straps, the item is folded along the length and grinded. One small section is also sewn, while the long seam should be in the middle of the strap. Then it is twisted and pulled out.
  3. To get voluminous swimsuit cups, foam rubber lining elements are used. Foam cups are sewn to the bodice of the swimsuit from the inside.
  4. The cutout of the swimsuit on the back must be treated with an elastic trim.
  5. An elastic band is sewn to the upper part of the back with a flat seam, slightly stretching it. In this case, the allowance turns inside out.
  6. Then the front and back are sewn along the side seams. The gusset is overlocked and sewn to the front and back.
  7. Cutouts for the legs are processed with an elastic band or inlay.
  8. Additionally, you can sew tunnels for bones on the cups. A strip 30 mm wide is cut out of colored fabric, folded in half. Then it is sewn to the seam for attaching the cups, turning the strip over for allowances. The first line should be located next to the seam of sewing on the strip, the second should be along the free edge. Then the bones are inserted into the resulting tunnels.

A beautiful swimsuit is ready!

So what did I need

swimsuit fabric
. Lining fabric (I chose black)
. Threads in the color of the fabric
. Scissors
. Needle
. Sewing machine
. Pattern card (or thick paper)
. wide elastic band
I made a pattern according to an old swimsuit. I made the two most important details (top and bottom) of cardboard (it is more convenient to circle it later).

With a belt and straps, you can easily cope without patterns.
I started with the bottom of the swimsuit. Having cut out from the main and lining fabric, I chopped off the details, and then stitched them on a typewriter.

I decided to make small folds on the belt.

Then I inserted a wide elastic band into it and stitched all the details. Here's what happened:

Many women have no idea how with your own hands Can sew a swimsuit. They are frightened by the very thought that swimsuit Can sew herself!
Today I will try, with the help of a few simple tips, to make the process of tailoring swimsuit not so scary that any woman could finally sew for herself a comfortable, perfectly fitting (after all, they sewed for themselves) fashionable this summer swimsuit- tankini!

The first secret of successful tailoring swimsuit- the right choice of fabric.
The modern industry offers a wide range of fabrics for tailoring. swimwear. Distinctive features of these fabrics are amazing elasticity and the ability to withstand the damaging effects of salt water and chlorine.
Most types of sewing fabrics swimwear stretch well only along, but there are fabrics that also stretch well across, which allows swimsuit hug the body tighter.
Be sure to consult the fabric store itself! And do not be stingy, because you need very little fabric))

Choosing the right fabric is essential to sew nice and comfortable fit swimsuit, but half the success (if not more) is the right seams!
Stitches to be used for sewing swimsuit, first of all, they have one thing in common - they must be very elastic!
We list the types of elastic seams that can be used when sewing swimsuit.

1. On a conventional machine, there is often an "overlay" seam, that is, it both sews and overcasts at the same time (Figure A).
2. If there is no overlay stitch on the machine, you can use a zigzag stitch with a narrow zigzag width and medium stitch length for sewing, and a wide zigzag stitch or a three-step zigzag stitch for overcasting (pictures B, C).
At sewing, keep the fabric stretched in front of and behind the sewing machine presser foot.
3. Overlock seams are also highly elastic and are well suited for sewing swimwear, subject to the use of elastic waterproof threads.

In order to swimsuit close to the body, edges swimwear shaped with rubber bands.
It is important to choose an elastic band specially made for sewing swimwear, because it must be waterproof - not lose elasticity when wet, and also, like fabric, must be resistant to salt water and chlorine.

Most suitable for tailoring swimsuit elastic band 1 cm wide. Use an elastic band to process all the outer edges swimsuit, for example, the edges of the holes for the head, under the legs and armholes.
To sew on the elastic, attach it to the raw edge of the fabric. First, sew in the middle of the elastic band with a wide zigzag with a medium stitch length or a three-step zigzag stitch (Figures D, E).
Or use an overlock to finish the edge (figure E).

Fold the edge of the fabric with the elastic sewn inward.
To secure, lay a middle zigzag seam along the folded edge (figure G). Also, you can stitch using a double needle (figure H).
When making the edges of the holes for the legs, on the front side of the leg, the elastic is sewn without stretching, and at the back it is slightly stretched to maintain the shape (Figure I).
I hope these simple recommendations will help you sew the perfect fit with your own hands. swimsuit
So let's start sewing!
Do not forget that you can make pockets in the cups of the bodice, into which you can insert special liners and lift the chest! You can also buy these inserts in the fabric store!

But I suggest sewing panties, making a pattern from the most comfortable and beautiful panties that you already have!
It could be like bathing panties, and just from underwear. The main thing is that you are perfectly satisfied with the style and fit!

You can try to re-cut the pattern from whole panties, but it's better to sacrifice them and ruthlessly rip them apart at the seams! Don't be sorry! After all, according to the created pattern, you can sew a dozen of these panties for yourself by purchasing the appropriate fabric!
So... We tear off all the elastic bands and cut the sample panties into pieces, approximately as in the picture. Those. we have three parts - a detail of the pattern of the front of the underpants, a detail of the back and an additional insert, which we will make from 100% cotton.

Then, we apply these fabric details of the pattern to paper, trace and cut out evenly, and we get a finished pattern of comfortable underpants, just like the old ones!
Next, we transfer the paper pattern of the underpants to the new fabric of your choice, do not forget about the seam allowances, mark and cut out the details of the new underpants.

The details of the panties are folded along the bottom seam in the following order:
- detail of the front;
- detail of the back;
- insert.

All three parts are stitched along the bottom seam.
After that, the insert is unfolded around the bottom seam, applied to the front part (in this case, the bottom seam will be completely inside) and stitched.

After that, we will process all the edges, except for those where the side seams will be, with braid.

The last step is stitching the side seams. We twist and rejoice - new, as comfortable as the old ones, the underpants are ready!

It is worth noting that once built pattern will allow you to sew more and more shorts from a wide variety of fabrics!

Now let's get to the ideas!
Please note that in many bathing wearing black panties. So you can sew only panties, and tankini tops in as many different colors as you want!
And also pay attention to the fact that panties can be sew on strings! Turn on your imagination and create!
These models use tankini top:

See how panties are made in this model. Black, but with a belt in the same fabric as the tankini top!

These tankini tops feature drawstring at the center of the bust. To do this, you will need to sew a strip of fabric from the inside of the bodice, making 3 seams along it along the top. Then skip the lace in them and tie it on top of the bodice. Or make holes and pull out the ends of the lace at the top edge of the bodice.

And in these bathing suits, a top with cups:

And in the last photo, a skirt is immediately sewn to the top and it turned out bathing dress!!!

I wish you creative inspiration and be from now on always the queen of the beach!

Very trendy outfit swimwear - bikinis. If you like hand-made, then you can sew a swimsuit with your own hands.

It is very practical to sew a swimsuit from old T-shirts without spending money on new fabric. In order to sew a swimsuit, one T-shirt is enough, but if there is a desire to diversify the bikini with color and bright colors, then use as many as your heart desires, in accordance with the requirements of the color shades that you want to see on your creation.

Instructions on how to sew a swimsuit

1. We cut off the bottom seams from the T-shirts, they will not be useful to us and will only interfere.

2. Now we cut off two wide strips 5 cm wide from the T-shirt - these are our future ties. We divide them into two equal parts. In total, we get 4 ribbons. (yellow). We cut off two more ribbons, divide one of them in half, and leave the other long. In total, 7 strips are obtained, of which one is long.

3. We choose the T-shirt from which we want to sew the top of the swimsuit. Cut off a wide piece of fabric (the length will depend on the size of your chest).

4. We fasten both layers of fabric together, and we will assume that the top of the swimsuit is thicker and does not shine through when wet.

5. Now proceeds to the pattern of the swimsuit, its upper part. First, make a sketch on paper, try on whether the depth of the triangular cup is suitable, and only then transfer the pattern to the fabric. Do not forget to make a mirror image of the pattern when cutting another cup. Finish the edges of the cups.

6. Sew the top tie to the top edge of the cup. We form the lower edge in the form of a tunnel, where we will pass a long string. The top of the swimsuit is ready.

7. Let's start making the bottom of the swimsuit. Cut out a large rectangle from the T-shirt. We fasten both parts.

8. Draw a pattern on paper. The shape should resemble an hourglass in appearance.

9. Sew ribbons on all four peaks of the hourglass - ties. Finish the edges of the product. In the upper part, make a hem with a margin so that you can thread the elastic band. Roll up the bottom of the bikini and tie the strings together. For strength, you can impose several stitches.

So we sewed a swimsuit! Now quickly try on your work. Do you like?
