Crepe paper topiary step by step. Flower topiary “Charm”: master class, photo and video. Artificial grass topiary

In my master class I want to tell you how to make a topiary out of paper, completely out of paper from the base ball to the pot. For convenience, I will divide it into 5 parts so that if necessary you can look at the part of interest.

Topiary is, as you know, a tree of happiness. And everyone chooses what to make it from for themselves, I decided to make a master class topiary from money, because, to paraphrase folk wisdom, money is not a hindrance to happiness - it is a measure of human labor, the equivalent of wasted energy. Therefore, I believe that such a tree will help you think and act correctly in achieving your financial goals.

PVA glue.

Crumple up one sheet of newspaper tightly, immediately give it a round shape, then wrap the subsequent crumpled sheets until you get a ball of the diameter you need.

We crush it well on all sides so that there are no large gaps or protruding corners. To fix our ball, take a sheet of newspaper and tear it into arbitrary pieces, like for papier-mâché

and, lubricating them with PVA glue,

We begin to seal the ball from newspapers, I made three layers.

You can use more to make the ball smoother and denser. While the ball is still wet, we immediately make a recess for the topiary trunk. Now you can leave everything to dry, I got the time - a day.

For production you will need:

Newspapers or magazines, but not thick ones.

PVA glue.

We make the trunk from newspaper tubes,

You can see more details on how they are made. I made four tubes and glued them together.

AND left it to dry.

After complete drying, the topiary ball and trunk were painted with green paint.

For production you will need:

Cardboard

Pattern paper

Scissors

Glue

Plaster (alabaster)

Acrylic paints and brush.

After watching master classes in the land of masters, I liked this bucket by Elena Nikitina.

DIY paper bucket

But the pattern for my pot was too small.

DIY paper bucket pattern

Then I thought, how can I quickly make a quick pattern?

A pot or bucket is a truncated cone, and a cone is a bag.

And so we make a bag from newspaper with the diameter of our future pot.

Cut off the top and bottom of the bag to make a pot of the desired size. Fold in half and cut one side. We remove the excess, and what remains is a slightly angular pattern.

Fold the pattern several times and cut it straight,

unfold it, and you get a pattern in which small corners need to be rounded, but they can be removed when we’ve already traced the pattern.

We attach it to the cardboard and trace the pattern. I left 1 centimeter at the bottom, cut it with cloves, and folded it inward to attach the bottom.

If the cardboard is thin, you can leave a 1 cm allowance for gluing on one side of the pattern. If the cardboard is thick, then cut out an additional strip and glue the edge of the pot onto it.

In order to make the bottom, we glue the resulting upper part of the pot to the cardboard. Let it dry and cut it.

To align the seam and edge of the pot, I pasted it with a layer of paper, and after drying, painted it with white acrylic paint.

You can choose any design, I drew chaotic lines and painted over the gaps with multi-colored acrylic paints, something like a mosaic.

After the paint has dried, the pot is ready.

Now take plaster or alabaster, dilute it with water until it becomes sour cream, insert the barrel into the pot and pour in the solution.

To prevent the barrel from getting wet from moisture, you need to wrap the inserted end in cling film. We do everything quickly, the plaster quickly begins to harden!

That's all I told you how to make a paper pot with your own hands.

  1. Flowers from origami modules step by step instructions

For production you will need:

Paper

Scissors

Glue

Take one bill and fold the bottom left corner up, then the bottom right corner up. It turns out to be a trapezoid.

We cut the bent coals with scissors. It turns out three parts, two squares and a rectangle. For further folding, you need the resulting square.

Take the square and fold it along the diagonal along which we folded it at the beginning. It turns out to be a triangle. Take the bottom left corner and fold it up, then the bottom right corner and fold it up. It turns out to be a rhombus.

Now we take the corner that was folded up and unfold it so that the center coincides with the side of the rhombus. First on one side, and then on the other.

It looks like a flower with three corners. We fold these side corners inward on one side and the other.

And then we fold the corners on both sides to form a rhombus again.

Now we fold our rhombus with a bag, grease the triangles that have folded inside with glue and fix it.

If you use super glue, then just press and hold for a few seconds; if you use PVA glue, then the module can be fixed, for example, with a clothespin. One petal is ready.

To create one flower we need 5 such modules. You will need to fold them in a circle and glue them together with glue.

For a topiary crown you will need from 20 to 50 of these flowers, it all depends on the size of the base ball and the density of the flowers themselves.

For assembly you will need:

Glue gun or glue

And now the best part remains - assembling the topiary.

We take our base ball and coat the recess for the barrel with glue,

DIY paper topiary

It’s better to use super glue or a glue gun and put it on the barrel in a bucket.

DIY paper topiary

Then we begin to glue the flowers in any order and start from the top, gradually filling the entire space.

I decorated the trunk in the pot with artificial grass and a butterfly, you can see how to make it in .

You can easily update the interior of a room, add notes of dreaminess and tenderness to it - by making topiary with your own hands

Initially, topiary was the name given to figuratively pruned trees and green shrubs in the yards of rich people. Over time, this art has changed. Now anyone can decorate their home with such cute decor. The size of the tree often does not exceed half a meter, and the variety of its shapes, colors and materials used for production is almost limitless.

Modern needlewomen use almost everything to create this craft.

Here is just a small list of the most popular items for decoration:

  • Artificial flowers made from foamiram, satin and rapeseed ribbons, salt dough, plastic, napkins, organza and so on.
  • Decorative berries, twigs, leaves.
  • Large and small beads, beads, buttons.
  • Coins of different denominations.
  • Souvenir paper bills.
  • Old gears, bolts, scissors and other small tools.
  • Thread pompoms.
  • Balls for decorating Christmas trees.
  • Paper squares and much more.

Synthetic little things, of course, make it possible to make topiaries of amazing beauty that do not lose their appearance for a long time, maintaining their attractiveness for many years. But no less interesting are products made from natural materials, such as:

  • Cones, chestnuts, nuts, pistachio shells, acorns.
  • Sea pebbles, shells, sand.
  • Dried citrus fruits in slices, roses made from their peels.
  • Rowan berries, physalis inflorescences, yellow leaves of any trees.
  • Coffee beans, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves and other herbs.

The choice remains only with the needlewoman and her imagination. In each craft, no matter what it is made of, there is a special soulfulness and warmth that fills the interior with harmony.

How to make the easiest topiary from beads with your own hands: instructions

Of the many options, the wish tree made from beads or artificial pearls is undoubtedly the easiest to make. Let's look at a detailed master class on how to create it.

It turns out very beautiful

What you need to have:

  • Foam ball base.
  • A bunch of beads, pearls of one or more colors. In handicraft stores you can purchase several small beads at once, so as not to glue them individually.
  • Two pieces of strong steel wire of the desired length, to which is added the depth of the pot and half the diameter of the ball, since the stem of the tree will go halfway into the base, and into the pot to the very bottom.
  • Satin ribbons, preferably thin ones, matching the main colors.
  • Satin roses, a little felt to decorate the bottom of the pot.
  • Corrugated paper, organza, satin or rapeseed ribbon of medium thickness.
  • Quick-drying glue or glue gun.
  • Pebbles for filling the pot, plaster for pouring.
  • Paint and pebbles for ground decoration.
  • Plastic pot.

Let's start making the simplest wish tree

  1. We start by making holes in the ball to attach steel wires and try them on. We wrap the flying wire so that at the top it is close to the ball, and at the bottom – 5 cm below the expected height of the ground. Set aside.
  2. Then we take a low number of beads and carefully, starting from the very top exactly above the holes for the barrel, attach the first bead. Then we gradually apply transparent glue and immediately fasten the beads without removing them from the thread. When there are only a couple of turns left to the holes, insert the wires for the barrel, having previously generously lubricated them with glue, and finish the winding, tightly closing the entire ball.
  3. Let's start working on the pot. We wrap it with corrugated paper, cover it with organza on top and secure it with ribbon. We glue the joints. Glue a felt circle to the bottom.
  4. Now we plant a tree. First we put the trunk in the pot. We fill in the stones and immediately fill them with prepared plaster. Please note that plaster expands when it dries, so do not fill it to the very top, leave a little space. It will dry within a few minutes.
  5. All that remains is to decorate the ball itself, its bottom and the surface of the plaster in the pot at your discretion. That's how simple it is to create beauty with your own hands.

Options may vary

Tip for a beginner: when making it, it is most convenient to use a heat gun. The glue in it is always transparent, dries very quickly and holds securely.

Topiary made from natural materials: step-by-step master class

Beginning needlewomen can also easily cope with working on a tree made from cones, acorns, chestnuts, walnuts or hazelnuts. This is a great idea for an activity with a child, allowing you to teach your little one to see beauty even in the most ordinary and simple things. In addition, many children love to collect such things while walking on the street. For the stem, you can even take an ordinary twig, which will make it even more natural and environmentally friendly.

Beginning needlewomen can also easily cope with working on a tree made from cones, acorns, chestnuts, walnuts or hazelnuts

What you will need:

  • Styrofoam ball for base.
  • Cones, chestnuts or other nuts.
  • Wire or a strong twig for the trunk.
  • A container in which to plant a tree.
  • Stones and plaster.
  • Glue gun or Dragon type glue.
  • Acrylic clear varnish, available in construction stores.
  • Decorations as desired.

How to make topiary from pine cones

As in the previous MK, first of all we pierce a hole under the barrel, try it on and decorate it. If you took a simple twig, then you can leave it unchanged.

  1. We take the base and glue the selected nuts or cones onto it, placing them tightly next to each other.
  2. Shortly before the end of the work, insert the barrel into the hole and finish the ball. If you cover pine cones with artificial snow, you will get a wonderful New Year's option.
  3. Chestnuts and acorns complement the fall leaves perfectly. And walnuts and hazelnuts look better if combined together and decorated with bright rowan berries.
  4. The last step is to plant the tree in a prepared container; for example, a brown flower pot would be very appropriate here.

Tip for a beginner: the finished nut craft should be coated with acrylic varnish or paint for durability. Gold and silver colors work best.

Memories of the sea or what to do with shells brought from vacation

A craft made from shells and burlap with elements made from twine looks very aesthetically pleasing. She will embody dreams of a new trip to the endless sea. Will remind you of a pleasant time spent. And the collected gifts from the depths of the sea will not lie idle.

For sea topiary you need:

  • Foam base: ball or heart.
  • Porcelain white or transparent cup, vase, glass.
  • Steel wire.
  • Thermal gun.
  • Shells, sea stones.
  • Artificial pearls.
  • Burlap, twine.
  • Plaster or pebbles to fill the container.

A craft made from shells and burlap with elements made from twine looks very aesthetically pleasing.

Detailed instructions for creation are simple and straightforward:

  1. We determine the center of the base and make the usual hole for the barrel. We try on the wire, decorate it with twine, and put it aside for a while.
  2. Carefully and carefully cover the foam base with shells, stones and pearls in random order. We make flowers, simple or lush bows from twine. We hook them between the main parts. We insert the finished trunk into place and decorate the bottom of the base.
  3. Place the craft in a cup or vase and fill it with plaster. Sprinkle the not yet hardened plaster with sea or decorative sand. We decorate the container with several turns of twine. Another option is to wrap it completely in burlap and secure it with a satin ribbon in pastel, light colors.
  4. If you do not want to use gypsum, and the topiary itself is small in size and weight, it is preferable to plant it in a transparent glass or cup, pouring the remaining pebbles and shells into it. This way you get a delicate decorative element that will remind you of summer holidays at any time and charge you with positivity and energy.

Tip for a beginner: thin bamboo sticks are ideal as a trunk for a shell tree. You need to take 5-7 of them, for reliability.

Create topiaries with your own hands, don’t be afraid to experiment and create. And may there always be inspiration!

In interior design, not the least place is occupied by do-it-yourself topiary - a tree made of decorative materials. Many housewives who are passionate about room decor try to decorate their homes with homemade products. Decorative trees in decor are becoming more and more popular - they are easy to make, and you can use absolutely any materials that seem suitable to you.

In interior design, not the least place is occupied by do-it-yourself topiary - a tree made of decorative materials

Topiary is the ancient art of landscape design. This concept includes curly cutting of plants in gardens, giving them beautiful shapes - you can make designs in the form of geometric shapes, animals, and so on. The first topiaries appeared several centuries ago. Today, such compositions, also known as “European wood,” are very popular in decoration. They are found both in the form of originally trimmed bushes and in the form of decorative compositions that are easy to arrange and look great. A handmade topiary tree looks great in the interior.

Other names for indoor topiary are the tree of love or the tree of happiness. It is believed that the presence of such a thing in the house attracts good luck, good mood and money. Often coins are placed in a pot stand, and banknotes folded in the shape of flowers are placed on branches.

You can make a topiary tree with your own hands as a gift for any holiday, simply by decorating it according to the occasion. For Valentine's Day, a love tree decorated with hearts is perfect. To make a wedding topiary, the tree is decorated with banknotes and images of doves. For the birth of a baby, you can make a product with balls and delicate flowers, for a housewarming party - with bows and flowers. The dimensions of the finished product can be different - both miniature, a few centimeters, and large, suitable for installation as a floor composition.

How to make topiary yourself

It is not difficult to make a topiary with your own hands. If nothing suitable comes to mind, you can look through photos on the topic and choose the option that suits you. Each product is made up of a specific set of parts, so before starting work you need to decide on them and stock up on the necessary things.

First, think about the basis. Most often, do-it-yourself topiaries are made from a ball, but sometimes cones or hearts are used as a basis, and for a birthday gift they often use a number. They can be made from polystyrene foam, papier-mâché, or an old ball will do for a ball. Figured blanks are made of wire, cardboard, or cut out of foam plastic.

You can make a topiary tree with your own hands as a gift for any holiday, simply decorating it according to the occasion

Any DIY topiary must have a trunk - it can be made from wire, a thin twig, wrapped in twine or colored paper. You can also use tree branches coated with stain or varnish. Some craftsmen make trunks from ordinary pencils.

But the greatest imagination will have to be shown when making the crown. It is made from twigs and wire, wrapped around a base, decorated with anything - even coffee beans, pebbles, and seashells are used. Colored napkins, twine and colorful ribbons, artificial leaves and flowers, beads and elements made of polymer clay, dried leaves and pasta are used.

A DIY topiary is not complete without a stand. For it you can take a small mug, a decorative pot, a stone and even shells. Lace and pieces of fabric, beads, and sequins are suitable for decoration. The diameter of the base should not be larger than the diameter of the tree crown, otherwise the finished product will not take on a very attractive appearance.

But the greatest imagination will have to be shown when making the crown

Regarding the choice of base, the following advice can be given. To make topiary with your own hands, any fillers or materials that can be used to strengthen the rod that supports the crown are suitable. Floral sponges, polystyrene foam, and polyurethane foam are convenient for this purpose.

Homemade product options

To make topiary with your own hands, it is recommended to look at a variety of photos - they will help you determine the composition you need. Making from a sample will be much easier. You can also attend a topiary master class, where you will learn how to make simple and beautiful interior decorations.

  1. You can make a tree of happiness like this. Prepare a decorative pot, boxwood branches, moss and several artificial flowers, a foam ball, some gravel, and wire. Boxwood branches are stuck into the ball so that there are no voids between them. Place the two twigs together and tie them with wire. Make a small hole in the foam and place the ball on the sticks. Place the topiary obtained at this stage into a pot with your own hands. Sprinkle the trunk with gravel and place some moss on top. You can take a photo of the finished work.
  2. You will get a beautiful crown if you form it from bright colored ribbons, folding them in the form of tubes. It’s not a shame to give such a gift for a birthday.
The materials you will need are: foam ball, pencil or stick, glue, ribbons, bobby pins, decorative pot.
Take the ribbon, cut it into small strips and make rings out of them. Pin the resulting rings to the base. There should be no empty space left on it - holes look unsightly on the finished product. After this, place the ball on a pencil (it can be sharpened on one side). Place the finished topiary in a pot with your own hands, add gravel to fix it. To give the structure tenderness and airiness, use decorative frost for decoration or cut the remaining ribbons into small pieces and sprinkle them on the “tree of love.”
  3. A decorative tree made from fresh flowers will turn out to be very romantic, but, unfortunately, it will not last long. Although you can take any indoor plant, for example, a tangerine tree, and decorate it, giving it the appearance of an artificial topiary. Prepare for work a floral sponge, a pair of Chinese food chopsticks, a piece of polyethylene, and a decorative pot. You will also need some fresh flowers on stems, moss, wire and decorative tape. Place plastic inside the pot. Then fill it with putty so that 7 cm remains to the edge - this space will be filled with decorative moss. Insert a stick for the trunk into the putty in the middle and leave everything until it hardens. Trim the edges of the polyethylene with scissors. Trim the floral sponge so that it forms a circle that fills the remaining space in the pot. Wet it and place moss on top. Stick the stems of the prepared flowers into the middle. They need to be tied with a decorative ribbon to a wooden rod, making a beautiful bow. You can stick a few more flowers into the moss at the base of the flowers by trimming the stems.
  4. This DIY topiary made from one hundred paper roses has a chic look. Even his photo makes an amazing impression, and it’s not difficult to take. The manufacturing scheme is extremely simple. To do this you will need a polystyrene foam base, a decorative flowerpot and paper roses. They are easy to make - long ribbons of paper are twisted using a pencil. To enhance the effect, place emerald green moss in a pot with a pink tree. To make topiary with your own hands, you can use improvised materials for the crown - balls, balls and even paper crumpled into a ball.
  5. The candy tree will be a great gift for the New Year. Even adults will not be able to remain indifferent when they receive such beauty as a gift. Prepare the base, stem, ribbon and about 300 grams of brightly colored lollipops. It is better to choose ones that have a delicious smell. Place the rod in the pot. Then cover the ball with red tape. After that, attach candies on it - with or without paper. But if you stick them on after removing the wrapper, you will no longer be able to eat the candies. Place candy canes of a different color in the pot.

Having mastered several types of products in master classes or from photos, you will be able to make wonderful gifts for friends and relatives on any occasion. Few people will refuse to receive a lovely tree of love or a useful tangerine tree as a gift. They don’t even require expensive materials to make, and they bring a lot of joy. The manufacturer will only need imagination and a little work.

From time immemorial, people have tried to decorate their homes - it doesn’t matter whether it’s a primitive man’s cave or a modern apartment. They always tried to decorate everyday life with stucco, drawings, and paintings. In almost all drawings and paintings, people invested sacred, magical meaning.

People tried to decorate not only their homes, but also the area around them. The custom of decorating trees (such decorations include giving a certain shape to the crown of a tree) has become a kind of cult.

Since ancient times, there have been holidays dedicated to nature and life cycles. At such festivals, trees played a major role.

Ritual actions with trees smoothly transitioned into garden architecture back in the days of Ancient Rome. Topiary or topiary is a garden in which trees grow that look more like garden sculptures. Skilled gardeners trimmed the branches, crown, and intertwined the branches so beautifully that the trees and shrubs acquired intricate shapes.

Topiary in the modern world

Today we can make topiary ourselves. In today's world, it is not at all necessary to have your own garden to have a topiary. Today it is a small original tree, which is also called the tree of happiness or money. Making it yourself at home is not at all difficult.

In order to have a tree of happiness at home, you will need just a few things:

A small pot or stand. A very important nuance - the pot or stand should not be larger than the diameter of the base of the tree.

A small stick that will serve as a trunk. The base of the tree. There are quite a few shapes of the base, but the most common is the ball shape.

Tree crown. To decorate a more beautiful crown, you can use a variety of improvised means that any person can always find in their home: coffee beans, pistachios, fancy-shaped pasta, acorns, buttons, beads and others.

The base can be purchased ready-made (ready-made foam blanks are sold in craft stores) or you can make it yourself from available materials.

The trunk can be made of thick wire, a pencil or a dried twig, which is pre-wrapped with twine or tape.

In order to make a crown, take plain paper, corrugated paper or multi-layer napkins. The ball can be formed from newspaper and wrapped with thread or twine. For strong fixation, cover with a small layer of PVA glue.

Once the glue has dried, coat the ball with paint or varnish. Next, you can stick on the selected flowers, moss or other decorative elements.

To decorate the crown, you can use any available materials - leaves, coffee beans, satin or silk ribbons, acorns and others. The finished design can also be supplemented with colored pasta of intricate shapes, buttons, and pistachios.

Topiary yourself - step-by-step instructions

If you decide to put a similar tree at home, we will teach you how to make a topiary with your own hands from available materials.

Prepare everything you need in advance:

  • finished round billet;
  • nice bowl;
  • not real flowers;
  • a pencil or a wooden stick of a suitable color and length;
  • a ball of the same diameter as the mug;
  • artificial grass or moss.

The first step is to decorate a pencil or stick using ribbon. Place in a ball and secure in the bowl with mounting foam.

The next step is to place artificial flowers on the blank. Keep in mind that it looks beautiful when there are no empty spaces. Now you can string the finished tree top onto the trunk.

You can decorate the edges of the mug with decorative moss or grass. To get a beautiful topiary, you can plant a butterfly (artificial).

DIY boxwood topiary

In order to make a boxwood tree of happiness you will need:

  • natural or artificial boxwood branches;
  • nice bowl;
  • flowers made of paper, felt and other substitutes;
  • gravel as filler;
  • round blank made of polystyrene foam;
  • fishing line or thin wire.

If you use branches instead of a pencil or stick for the trunk, tie them together first using wire. After the work has been completed, the spherical blank must be placed on the barrel.

Place the trunk with the crown in a container into which gravel was previously poured. Lay moss or artificial grass on top. The crown can be decorated with small flowers, which are placed between the boxwood branches.

If you are still in doubt and cannot decide which tree you want to make yourself, we recommend looking at a photo of a topiary made by yourself. Such photos can be found on handicraft websites.
