Decorating glasses for a wedding- a waste of time?

It has long been a tradition for the bride and groom to drink from beautifully decorated wine glasses. But is it worth spending time on such delights if the life of these accessories is so short? And indeed, the glasses are destined to be broken literally in the first half hour of the ceremony. It is believed that glass flying into pieces should bring happiness to a young family. DIY wedding glasses decor

Ideally, you should make at least three sets of festive wine glasses. The first one will be used in the registry office, the second one can be taken with you to a photo shoot, and the third one will be waiting for the newlyweds on the formally served table.

If you are planning a small party, you can dodecoration and wedding glassesguests. Naturally, the decor here will be simpler, but in this situation the attention shown must be assessed. Those present will be incredibly pleased to lift the decorated wine glasses with their souls.

But let's return to the paraphernalia for the bride and groom. For them, it is absolutely not necessary to take glasses of the same shape. A young wine glass may have a more rounded shape. For the groom, an elegantly formal glass, thin and tall, is suitable. But the decor of the couple should be kept in the same style. This will emphasize the harmony of the union.

Decorating wedding glasses: it’s time for business

The glasses will probably remain in photographs and videos from the celebration, so you should take care that they do not look ridiculous against the general background. You can start decorating wedding glasses with your own hands as soon as the couple’s outfits are chosen, and it becomes clear in what manner the hall will be decorated.

The design of the glasses should be in harmony with the style of the wedding

Absolute harmony is the main motto of festive design. If it is decided that turquoise will be the leitmotif of the decor, then this should definitely find a response in the outfits of the newlyweds, in the decoration of the wine glasses, and in the decoration of wedding bottles with your own hands. These could be some small details or more significant background decisions.

A few ideas on how to decorate wedding glasses

“It’s better to practice decorating wedding bottles and wine glasses on ordinary glasses and empty containers”

Let's start with the classics of the wedding genre - gilding. There are two ways to decorate wine glasses in this way.

Option 1

This is where the leg will be decorated. Need to stock up:

1. masking tape;

2. old newspapers;

3. with a can of spray paint of the desired color.

Necessary materials for decoration

You need to start working by preparing the wine glass. It is thoroughly washed and dried. In order not to stain the top of the glass, I wrap it in newspaper approximately to the middle of the height of the stem and secure the wrapper with tape.

Secure the newspaper with tape

For greater reliability, the paper can be fixed at the top. This way you will be sure that it will not turn around at the most inopportune moment. Next, paint is used in decorating wedding glasses with your own hands. The table is covered with old newspapers, on which a wine glass prepared for decoration is placed upside down.

Painting the bottom of the glass

The open part of the leg must be treated evenly with a jet of paint. In order for the coating layer to lay down perfectly, it is better not to spray the composition from too close a distance. Work by stepping back a couple of steps from the item being decorated.

The finished result

Option 2

In this case, the upper part will be partially covered with gilding. Masking tape will help to beautifully decorate wedding glasses with your own hands. It can be figuratively, spirally or otherwise wrapped around the bowl.

Tape the top of the glass

Hide the leg, almost to the stand, under a piece of cellophane. Further everything according to the scheme. Paint is applied to exposed parts. In this form, the wine glasses are left until it dries completely. Now you can remove the protection and tape. The glasses for the wedding celebration are ready.

Decor of the top of the glass

A wide variety of materials can be used to decorate glasses for a wedding:

  • feathers;
  • rhinestones;
  • beads;
  • beads;
  • ribbons;
  • textile;
  • paints;
  • flowers;
  • clay.

If you don’t have handmade skills, you shouldn’t immediately take on finishing work. It’s better to practice decorating wedding bottles and wine glasses with your own hands on ordinary glasses and empty containers.

Working with fabrics

Most often, needlewomen tend to use lace and this is quite justified. Its luxurious weave is gorgeous to begin with. All that remains to be done is to correctly place the fabric on the wine glass. Decorating wedding glasses with your own hands begins with degreasing their surface. To do this, use alcohol and a napkin.

Romantic decoration of glasses with lace

Measure the required length of the lace ribbon and make a blank, not forgetting to add an allowance of 5-7 mm to the seams. We fix the strip on the bowl of the wine glass using a glue gun. This must be done carefully so that there are no glue drips. From another piece of lace we will assemble a skirt. When decorating glasses for a wedding, it is attached to the stem. The finishing touch will be a satin ribbon bow imitating a belt.

Original glass with lace skirt

You can complement the lace composition with a scattering of sparkles and beads. The same algorithm is used to decorate with other types of fabrics: guipure, tulle, satin.

Working with ribbons

Decorating wedding glasses with your own hands using ribbons is a springboard for unleashing your imagination. Both a modest bow and luxurious drapery can become a stylish decoration.

Trimming wedding glasses with ribbons

Usually, satin or silk ribbons are beautifully woven around the stems of wine glasses, but you can complicate your task and make flowers from ribbons. To make, for example, a rosebud, which, by the way, is also suitable for decorating wedding bottles with your own hands, you will need a large ribbon. It is folded in half, bending along the wrong side, and the joined edges are swept away. To form a bud, you need to pull the thread. You can put together a whole bouquet of these roses.

Making a rose from ribbon

It is permissible to make the buds multi-colored. Compositions are fixed to the glass bowl. Decorating glasses for a wedding with ribbons is traditionally completed by decorating the latter with rhinestones and beads. They embroider flower petals and make their hearts. Thin, green ribbons or twisted thread can act as stems. To imitate drops of dew on flower petals, when decorating wedding glasses, they are decorated with small rhinestones.

Ribbon roses for decorating glasses

The most spectacular bows are obtained from satin, gauze or silk ribbons.

Decor with rhinestones

Bright and shiny, with their sparkle and tints they create a unique play of light. The most effective decorations for DIY wedding glasses are the so-called stars. You can make some pretty fancy patterns out of them. In general, it is recommended to use medium-sized pebbles of the same size and the same color spectrum. How to decorate wedding glasses with them? Yes, as your imagination dictates! If you want, post the symbol of celebration - wedding rings. You can make star scatterings and monograms.

Rhinestones create a unique play of light

Those more experienced in needlework can work with different fractions and colored rhinestones. They will help you lay out entire stories and fantastic allegories.

Working with beads

A universal decor used not only in decorating wine glasses, but also in decorating wedding bottles with your own hands. Typically, beads are used in symbiosis with beads. The elements are fixed to the glass surface with glue. The product must be degreased before decorating. After applying a layer of glue to the area chosen for decoration, carefully place large beads in the design. Fill the remaining voids with multi-colored beads and leave the glass to dry.

Engraving

Decorating wedding glasses in this way can only be done by specialists. The only thing in which you can take the initiative is composing the text of the inscription or creating a sketch of the drawing. You can place an invented family logo, words of declaration of love, or portraits of the newlyweds on the glasses. The engraving design should be complemented with a delicate colored ribbon curling around the leg.

Example of engraving on wedding glasses

Do you want to do something similar to engraving in the design of wedding glasses with your own hands? Try making your desired lettering on glass using a stencil, clear glue and powder glitter. Draw and cut out letters or phrases on paper. Attach the workpiece to the bowl. Apply glue to your work surfaces and immediately sprinkle them liberally with glitter. Remove excess by shaking the glass slightly and leave the decor to dry. The paper is removed after the adhesive base has completely dried.

Fresh flowers to decorate glasses for a wedding

A unique, but, unfortunately, short-lived spectacle. All the charm of the decor will fade on the second day, but they will still complete the mission, and with what success!

Fresh flowers in the decoration of glasses

Fragrant romance is present in the decoration of the dresses of the young guests, so why not draw it as a red line in the table decoration? What else, if not a rose, a symbol of love, could become the material for decorating wine glasses for newlyweds. If you decide to start decorating wedding glasses with your own hands, then be prepared to sit through the work the evening before the celebration.

Step-by-step master class

In addition to the wine glasses, you will need:

  • gel “super moment”;
  • rose buds;
  • beads;
  • scissors;
  • brush.

Decorating wedding glasses with your own hands traditionally begins with degreasing the glass. It is wiped with alcohol, and in the absence of the product - with acetone, the remains of which are washed off with running water. The surface of the glass is polished to a shine. We set the product prepared for work aside and begin disassembling it into flower petals.

We cut the bud from the stem and carefully, so as not to damage the delicate petals, disassemble it in parts. It is advisable to immediately sort the petals by size. This will make it easier to decorate glasses for the wedding in the future.

The petals are fixed to the bowl of the glass

The moment of truth is coming. We grease the pink petals with glue and fix them to the bowl of the glass. The decor is done from top to bottom. The smallest petals will be used first. They should be glued completely, over the entire surface. Don’t forget to leave 2 cm from the top border of the bowl. This is important when decorating wedding glasses, because these are not souvenirs that will simply be placed on a shelf; you will need to drink from them somehow.

Attaching the petals to the glass knife

Having made the core, we move on to creating the next tier. Let's use slightly larger petals than we have already used. We will glue them only when the core is dry. We will place the second petal ring not end-to-end with the first, but retreating 0.7-1 cm down.

The petals will block the gap and the bare glass will not be visible.

We continue to work according to the already familiar algorithm, but now we coat only the base of the petal with glue.

Further on increasing. The largest pink petals should appear at the base of the bowl of wedding glasses decorated with your own hands. From the outside, the finished product should look like a wine glass planted in the middle of a flower. The base is ready.

Now we need to solve the issue with the leg. The easiest way is to decorate it with a satin ribbon in green shades, but if the desire to create has not yet disappeared, then decorate it with beads and seed beads. It will turn out very impressive.

Feather decor of wine glasses

The technique is also universal, suitable for decorating wedding bottles with your own hands.

You should not cover the entire glass with feathers. It will look ridiculous. It is quite enough to make a feather edge at the base of the bowl, and then complement the decor with beads, ribbons, sparkles, and painting. The last option should be highlighted in a separate column, since it is very good in itself.

How to decorate wedding glasses with painting

You can decorate wine glasses with paints in a variety of ways. If drawing is not your thing, that's okay. Stencils will help you make thematic drawings. They are fixed to the prepared glass surface with tape and the voids are painted with acrylic paints. Allow the latter to dry and remove the sticker.

Painting glasses using a stencil

When designing wedding glasses in this way, it is important that the picture does not “float”, so it needs to be hidden under a protective layer of varnish. The painting can be supplemented at your discretion with sparkles, scatterings of beads, sequins, and ribbons.

Decoupage technique

“This decorative technique is often used when decorating wedding bottles with your own hands.”

A very unusual way to decorate glasses for a wedding. You need to prepare:

  • rice paper (white);
  • decoupage napkin with a themed pattern;
  • pearl paint;
  • glue;
  • Polish for hair;
  • two-centimeter wide masking tape;
  • regular varnish.

We prepare the surface for decoration. Use masking tape to protect the edge of the bowl. We wrap the remaining part with rice paper so that it fits closely to the edge of the tape. The side ends of the paper are fixed with an overlap, with a wrap of no more than 0.5 cm. The excess wrapper is torn off.

Initial stages of decoupage of glasses

The next stage of decorating wedding glasses with your own hands is fixing the paper to the surface of the glass. This is done as follows. The bowl is moistened with water and wrapped in paper. The paper will get wet and cover the glass evenly. All that remains is to fix it in this position by covering it with decoupage glue. It is applied with a flat brush. The base for decor is ready, and it is sent to dry.

This will be followed by colorful decoration of wedding glasses. We select the necessary fragments of the drawings and lay them out on a file or cling film. We treat the pictures with hairspray several times. This will promote better adhesion of the parts to the surface. Place the pictures one by one on the bowl of the wine glass and coat the top with glue.

Spray the pictures with hairspray several times

At this stage of decorating wedding glasses with your own hands, you need to be especially careful. The pictures should not wrinkle or deform, so the glue should be applied from the center to the periphery and very short strokes should be made with a brush.

After all the elements are laid out and the glue has dried, the bowl of the wine glass is coated with glassy varnish and dried again. The glass is ready to use.

Final coating of glasses with varnish

This decorative technique is often used to decorate wedding bottles with your own hands. Decoupage will make it possible to indicate the purpose of each of them. Don't understand what we're talking about? Whether wedding guests will drink from decorated bottles or not is a rhetorical question, but two beautifully decorated bottles must be on the newlyweds’ table. They will not be uncorked. This champagne has a different mission. The first bottle will be unsealed to celebrate the first wedding anniversary, and the second will wait until the birth of the first child. The theme of decorating wedding bottles with your own hands is intuitive. The one that is destined to be drunk on the occasion of a new addition to the family can be decorated, for example, with angels; the second one, it makes sense to veil it under fabric. Choose a small floral pattern to look like printed chintz.

Polymer clay in the decoration of glasses

Looking for a way to decorate your wedding glasses? Take a closer look at the stucco decor. This is quite an impressive design. You will have to work with polymer clay. Do about the same as with plasticine. Blanks of flowers, leaves, wedding symbols, doves, and cupids are made from clay. While the product is at the modeling stage, it can be tried on at the place of future fastening and the shape can be adjusted. As soon as the blanks for decorating the wedding glasses are ready, they are sent to bake in the oven. Smaller parts need to be baked separately from massive ones. How long to keep the clay in the oven can be found in the instructions for the material.

Decorating wedding glasses using polymer clay modeling

The base of baked decorative elements should be leveled. This can be done with a wide file, usually used for manicure. For greater beauty, the components are opened with varnish.

The decoration on glasses for a wedding should be fixed using an adhesive base. Additionally, you can decorate the composition with rhinestones, make flower cores from beads, and paint the missing stems with acrylic paint.

Conclusion

There are countless ideas on how to decorate wedding glasses, and each of them is magnificent in its own way. Choose an option that interests you and try to prove yourself in handicrafts. A little effort - and now you have in your hands not a simple glass, but a real exclusive, a real work of authorship, which is quite capable of making a wedding celebration unforgettable.

If we talk in detail about the details, then of course you can buy ready-made sets for decorating a wedding in an online store. But if you have time and desire, then why not resort to rule No. 3?

Rule #3

Rule #3 - There are no rules for implementing creative ideas.

Come on, decide on the birth! First a mini-masterpiece - and then great things - the birth of babies.

What if you get so into the taste that you start with decorating wedding glasses and bottles with your own hands, and then you will also do it for the family hearth, and eventually become parents of many children. Where is the connection, you ask. And the connection is direct, but more on that a little later!

The choice is yours

Guys, why do you think I decided to pay so much attention to this topic? It's simple! I cannot ignore all the advantages of hand-made wedding decoration of champagne bottles and glasses with my own hands. Here they are:

  • You know exactly what champagne you will drink on your first wedding anniversary.
  • Choose wedding glasses that are pleasing to the eye, hands and lips.
  • In craft stores, the choice of decorative items will quench any thirst for ideas for a wedding not only in 2017, but in the coming 2018.
  • Existing techniques for decorating - from simple to the most complex designs - will be mastered by both a beginner and a guru.

Step by step

The case is going to be interesting and responsible, so let's take the process of decorating glasses and bottles for champagne seriously. Ready? Then let's go!

Preparation

Where to begin? With preparation, of course.

  1. We choose and purchase at least two bottles of our favorite champagne.
  2. We buy a couple of champagne glasses. If you can't find a pair, look for a set of six. Everything will come in handy on the farm!
  3. Remove labels from bottles by first soaking them in warm water for 30 minutes.
  4. We go to the accessories store and buy according to the theme of the wedding you have chosen: artificial flowers, bows and satin ribbons, lace and feathers, rhinestones, beads and beads.
  5. The materials you will need are: glue gun, PVA or glue for working with glass, special acrylic paints for applying an inscription or design.

Before starting work, take the most ordinary glass and try working with glue and paints. This way you'll get your hands on the ball before you start finishing work.

A matter of technology

Well, here's the interesting part. I offer you the basic techniques for decorating wedding glasses and champagne.

  • Decoupage. Rice paper or thin napkins, PVA glue, varnish and brushes will help you create any composition on glass. Even if you don't know how to draw, this technique will hide this small flaw. Try it, and you are guaranteed an artistic miracle of your own making! This design is suitable for a wedding in the style of love is, and for French Provence.

  • Ribbons are a mandatory material for the kanzashi technique. You can decorate bottles and glasses in the form of a groom in black and a bride with a snow-white veil. You can also beautifully tie bright bows to match the holiday to decorate the wedding champagne and wine glasses.

  • Paints. You can apply any stencils from adhesive tape to the glass, or paint the shape in any color from an aerosol can. Then remove them and end up with original glasses. You can completely paint the glass white and apply monograms with initials on top with contrasting colors, and then glue on rhinestones and beads.

  • Polymer clay will appeal to those who know how to sculpt well. Special compositions of different shades allow you to create absolutely any decor for your wedding accessories. If you can’t sculpt, buy ready-made ones and create!

And here is the video with the master class. Click Play.

When decorating, pay attention to how convenient it is to later use the glasses for their intended purpose, and check that the parts are well glued. We don't need embarrassing situations with a feather in our mouth.

Pleasant connections

One of the two bottles is traditionally drunk on the birth of the first child.

This is the question of connections and rule number 3, as promised. If you're planning on having a little more than one child, why not make it a family tradition and wash each little one's heels with champagne from your wedding day.

Then prepare more bottles! And let the guests wonder why you don’t have two bottles on the table, like all newlyweds, but five. What do you think about this idea? Share your opinion.

Whatever decoration technique you choose - white, blue or gold - don’t be afraid to experiment. Creativity inspires, so try and you will succeed!

I really hope that after reading the article your hands itched and your feet ran to the store for champagne. Don’t be afraid of mistakes, because nothing is irreparable and everything can always be corrected. I would appreciate your feedback and comments. Subscribe to my blog news and share ideas with friends. Well, I wish you a sparkling mood and bubbly ideas, fresh and gushing. See you soon in new topics. Bye bye!

When preparing for a wedding celebration, there are always a lot of worries, because you need to think through every detail, otherwise the holiday may be ruined. That is why many resort to the services of managers, who take on the lion's share of all organizational issues. However, there are details that you can handle on your own, and the design of wedding glasses is one of these.

The tradition of breaking dishes “for good luck” has gone deep into the past; it has been replaced by a new trend - to preserve your wedding wine glasses as the very first family treasure and a real heirloom. They stay with spouses for many years and are even passed on to their children, and on each family anniversary they are taken out of a secluded place and placed on the festive table to once again remember the most tender, romantic and tender moments of their day.

It is better to immediately abandon all types of purchased paraphernalia, since the production that has been put into production is unlikely to offer anything worthy for such a special event. Most newlyweds prefer exclusive jewelry that will fully match the theme and style of the wedding, as well as the personal tastes and characteristics of the newlyweds.

Regardless of who exactly will be decorating the wedding glasses, the first thing you need to do is choose the appropriate option from the many existing decor ideas. Typically, one of the following designs is used:

  • trimmed with satin ribbons;
  • lace or burlap;
  • cloth;
  • large and small sparkles;
  • rhinestones or beads;
  • engraving;
  • painting with paints;
  • with fresh flowers, as well as those sculpted from clay and cold porcelain.

Some newlyweds prefer to decorate only the stem of the wine glass, and paint an engraving or monogram on the walls. Some create more voluminous jewelry.

Anyone who decides to decorate their wedding glasses with shimmering sparkles, as well as rhinestones or beads, will not go wrong, because this consumable always looks extremely festive and solemn. The pattern on such a glass is made in any thematic pattern, only so that one side of the glass remains undecorated.

The simplest pattern is formed with one- or two-color material. In this case, various monograms, hearts, names of young people or simple curls are laid out with rhinestones. If desired, you can apply more complex patterns - to do this, they are printed on plain paper, applied from the inside and along the lines, and glitter is placed.

If the rhinestones scatter chaotically, then they should completely cover the glass from below, and leave only individual droplets at the edges.

Decorating with glitter is much simpler - you just need to dip a thin brush in glue, then in glitter, and draw a pattern or draw a design.

Products decorated with openwork lace look very delicate, and making such decor is not at all difficult - you just need to cover the outer part of the wine glass with fabric. Usually golden or silver lace is used, but lurex in tones of ivory and vanilla looks no less impressive. The shade of the fabric should match the overall color scheme of the wedding.

The elegant belt at the very base of the wine glass looks quite stylish; wine glasses with a lace “skirt” also look interesting. If desired, it is worth supplementing the decoration with various relief elements - flowers, as well as leaves and many other details.

Openwork materials are often combined with flowers and beads, but it is important not to overdo it - wedding glasses should become an elegant thing, and not a tacky bad taste.

Ribbons can give a solemn look to absolutely any product; they perfectly complement openwork lace, painting and shiny rhinestones. Smooth ribbons of shiny material wrap around the legs, as well as the glasses themselves. Stylish roses are made from them and even whole bouquets are glued to glass, complementing them with beads and glitter.

Most often, plain ribbons are chosen to decorate glasses, but multi-colored materials can also be used - for example, black, dark gray, blue and light blue colors are suitable for a newlywed, and white and soft pink shades are preferable for a young wife.

Artistic painting of glasses has become a very worthy idea, but it should only be used if the bowl remains clean and only the stem of the glass is covered with paint. Then the sketch becomes a basic element of decor. Typically, acrylic paints are used for painting.

Glasses decorated with feathers look quite extravagant. Of course, such decoration is unlikely to be suitable for a classic wedding, but for themed events it is just right. Feathers go well with similar decor on the young wife’s dress, and such glasses also look good if similar decorations are present in the bouquet. Feathers are usually combined with beads, sequins and flowers. By the way, this option is most often used when organizing a wedding celebration in the style of Chicago; in this case, lush feathers harmonize very well with the entire decor and costumes of the invited guests.

Decorating with fresh flowers is one of the most romantic options for decorating wine glasses. Of course, such a composition cannot be called durable, but it is truly the personification of tenderness, grace and romance. You can also use artificial flowers, but they, of course, cannot be compared with living stems, their lines and unique aroma.

The principle of decoration is quite simple - roses, daisies or other flowers are collected in a small boutonniere and fixed to the stem of the wine glass using special glue and satin ribbons.

If you know how to sculpt jewelry from plastic, then creating stylish decor from porcelain or polymer clay will not be difficult for you. It is quite possible to make various buds, delicate petals and small flowers on your own. At the same time, until the clay dries, the petals can be given the desired bend, smooth lines, and even the shade can be adjusted.

In any of the considered types of decoration of wedding glasses, you can always find the possibility of transforming wine glasses or glasses into stylized newlyweds - the bride and groom. Such attributes look quite catchy, and they are quite simple to make.

For example, if you want to get a “groom,” you need to take white and dark-colored material, a couple of small beads and form them into a shirt (wrap white fabric around a wine glass) with a tuxedo (here you just need to attach the lapels). And for the bride, cut out a fluffy openwork skirt, and make the corsage from satin ribbon. A “young” outfit can be decorated with sparkles and rhinestones.

How to choose the right option?

When ordering decorations for wedding glasses, young people sometimes “get their eyes wide open” from the abundance of luxurious and stylish options. To make the right choice, you should take into account a number of basic recommendations.

  • The design of the wine glasses should be optimally integrated into the overall theme of the wedding celebration. If you are holding an event in a rustic style, then the wine glasses can be draped with burlap. If the design is carried out in the traditions of vintage and shabby chic style, then you should give preference to lace, ribbons or cameo.
  • It is very important that the color scheme of the glasses is in harmony with the main shades that prevail in the decor of the room where the celebration is being held. The color palettes must match; the use of contrasting shades is strictly prohibited. For example, the orange decor of the wine glasses is unlikely to fit into a silver or lilac wedding, and gold in the dishes will look out of place with a silver shade of the room.

It is important that the glasses harmonize well with each other both in style and color. They should be a single tandem, personifying lovers and emphasizing the main theme of the event.

Let's talk a little about glasses. Their shape should be quite beautiful and comfortable, since the young spouses will have to hold them in their hands for quite a long time.

Traditionally, wine glasses with an elongated thin stem are used., although you can choose some other options. For example, paired wine glasses on one common stem are quite popular - they, in fact, represent a rather attractive stand with a pair of recesses into which glasses are inserted. If desired, you can give preference to hexagon-shaped glasses, concave glasses and other original products.

Step-by-step instructions for registration

Now let's dwell on the technical features of the design of glasses in various styles. There are quite a few interesting master classes for decorating them, but we will focus on the main points.

To begin with, you should follow a few important rules:

  • before starting work, be sure to thoroughly wash the wine glasses and wipe them with alcohol in order to degrease their surface;
  • hands when decorating glasses must certainly be clean, so keep wet wipes nearby;
  • to fix decorative elements, you need to use glue, but each option has its own adhesive base: for example, fabric, feathers and lace are attached very well to PVA, it is advisable to glue bright sparkles, rhinestones and beads with compounds based on cyanoacrylate, and large beads are fixed using gun or liquid nails.

The instructions for decorating wine glasses with different finishing materials have their own nuances.

So, if you are draping a glass with fabric and lace, then simply wrap the glass in cloth and secure the edges with glue, preferably PVA.

If you plan to paint dishes with paints, then you should give preference to acrylic compositions. Stained glass translucent paints are also considered quite popular these days. They allow you to create a unique decor that has no equal in its aesthetic properties.

The choice of design depends entirely on the artist’s abilities and how well he can draw all the necessary openwork elements and elegant curls. After the design is applied, it should be coated on top with acrylic varnish - it is used as a fixative so that the image does not wash off under the influence of detergent and does not wear out over many years of storage.

When decorating glasses with painting, professionals advise additionally decorating the stem using spray paint. In this case, the bowl should first be covered with newsprint glued with tape. Otherwise, you risk staining the bowl with paint, which will negate all efforts to decorate the glasses.

When decorating glasses with artificial flowers, it is better to use organza products - it adheres better to the glass surface.

As a rule, individual petals are strung on the narrowed side of a wine glass and then glued together. If this is not done, they may simply fall in your hands. Additionally, the glasses are decorated with rhinestones and beads, which are glued with hot glue using a special gun.

The decor made from polymer clay looks exceptionally elegant. This is quite a delicate job, but every novice decorator can master this technique. To create a unique decoration you will need polymer clay itself, as well as glue, gloves for work, a toothpick and a board.

To begin with, the clay layer is rolled out and cut into small pieces, from which petals are subsequently formed. After this, the flower itself is collected, and then baked until hardened. The prepared figures are attached to the glasses using glue.

Another original technique is gilding. It is quite simple in execution - the drawing here is applied with a special spray from a can, and you can decorate both the leg and the bowl. When you need to decorate only one area, then you should cover the rest with paper. If you combine painted fragments with empty, unpainted ones, you can achieve an unusually beautiful effect. It is quite popular to apply gilding using stencils - first they are glued to the glass with plain water, and after the gold dust has been applied to the surface, they are removed, resulting in a rather interesting pattern.

A wedding is one of the most beautiful and exciting days in the life of every couple. And many people believe that everything should be perfect. But to fully make this day wonderful, it is not enough just to wear clothes, no matter how beautiful they are.

You will have a luxurious snow-white dress, a lovely bouquet, and the groom will be in a brand new suit, but it won’t be a complete picture without some little details. Beautifully decorated wedding glasses will help to express individuality and highlight the beauty of wedding decorations. with your own hands.

Therefore, we present to you a master class (MK) on decorating wedding glasses with your own hands.

How to beautifully decorate glasses for a wedding table

  • Lace. Thanks to the lace, you can give your glasses a more than festive look. The dishes will look elegant due to the lace “shell”.

So, for the first option we will need:

This glue will be waterproof and will “grab” well.

Note: before applying glue to the surface of the glass, wipe the glass with an alcohol-soaked cloth - this way you will first degrease the surface, and further gluing will be much better.

If, in addition to lace and ribbons, you will attach various beads, rhinestones and crystals, then you can use silicone-based glue, glue for ceramic materials and even simple PVA!

  1. In order to decorate the top of the glass, wrap the lace around it and measure the required length, not forgetting to take 5-6 mm in reserve;
  2. Carefully position the lace. Try to keep the glue as invisible as possible;
  3. To decorate the stem of a glass, gather the fabric with a needle and make a small accordion;
  4. Then tighten the thread on the glass;
  5. Carefully tie a ribbon around the leg
  1. A beautiful bow that can be attached to the leg.
  2. Wrap the ribbon around the leg itself (as in the tutorial above).
  3. If you like to experiment, then try it. A video tutorial will help you make this decoration.
  • Flowers. If you choose the most beautiful artificial flowers and arrange them into an interesting, compatible composition, you can also decorate glasses with them. To do this, tightly fasten them together and glue them to the glass. It is not necessary to make the glasses the same, the main thing is combination and harmony.

Sometimes fresh flowers are used for this type of creativity. The final composition will look great, but you will also have to work hard (of course, in the name of such a wonderful result).

And since the result is worth it, we begin our next MK:

Note: for more complete harmony, use those fresh flowers that will be used in the groom’s boutonniere and the bride’s bouquet.

To do this, you will need to cover the entire glass from the base with petals. You can attach a satin ribbon or a ribbon bow underneath it. If desired, add pearl-like beads, beads, rhinestones.

Option 1:

  • outline stickers on glasses;
  • stained glass paints;
  • tassels;
  • ribbon (silk);
  • glue.

Instruction:

Option 2:

Here you can use stencils to a minimum and make the most of your drawing talent. Decorate the glass partially or completely with paints – it’s up to you.

Tip: 1. To speed up the drying of paints, use a hairdryer. 2. To create a matte effect for the entire glass or just part of it, spray white acrylic paint using an old toothbrush. 3. To decorate the edge, choose a silver, white or gold brush - this will make your wine glass look rich.

  • Rhinestones and beads. This option is very beautiful, but also the most difficult to implement. To do this, you will have to glue each bead and each rhinestone by hand, possibly re-gluing it several times. Use stencils on which you will lay out your intended drawings.

Believe me, glasses beautifully decorated with your own hands will be the best gift for you and your partner, and the decoration process itself will once again prove your love. It may be difficult and unusual, especially if a loving man who has never picked up glue and tape before takes up such an activity, but know one thing - the game is worth the candle, and therefore try to do the best you can so that your loved one simply shines from happiness!

During the wedding celebration, the glasses of the bride and groom perform a more decorative than practical function. And yet, in those few minutes for which they appear "in the center of events", it is to them that the lion's share of the guests' attention is riveted.

Of course, every couple would like to have their own, unique glasses that would match the concept of the wedding, and then become a pleasant reminder of this joyful day. This is much easier to do than it might seem at first glance. We will give you some tips to help you generate your own ideas in the future.

Let's start with the elegant classic gold leaf. Below we will describe 2 options for this design.

Master class No. 1: gilded leg.

Stock up on spray of a suitable color, old newspapers and masking tape:

First, wash the glass thoroughly and wrap the top of the glass with newsprint to keep it clean while you work. Secure the paper to the leg with a piece of tape. Just in case, you can also tape the paper at the top.

Place the glass upside down on a newspaper-lined table and, taking a couple of steps back, begin to coat the stem evenly with spray paint.

And this is what we got:

And now a version with a partially painted top.

Wrap the glass with masking tape, as shown in the photo, and cover the rest of the glass with a plastic bag.

Spray the stem and base. You can remove the cellophane only after the paint has completely dried. Ventilate the room thoroughly after using the spray!

Lesson #2: Monogramming

An unpainted space can be decorated with a monogram or initials of the bride and groom. For convenience, we will show how to do this using the example of two clean wine glasses. First of all, choose rhinestones of the appropriate size and shape. Please note that their back must be flat.

Then, print out the letters you need on plain paper and cut off any excess.

Place a piece of paper with the letter inside the wine glass. Determine the location of the letter on the glass and secure the paper with tape. Now, using this “stencil” as a guide, glue the rhinestones onto the glass from the outside. To do this, you can use glue for glass and ceramics.

Be careful not to let the glue spread on the glass - stains can be difficult to clean.

There is another way to make an inscription on glass. To use it, you will need a stencil cut out on paper, some clear glue and loose glitter.

Cut out individual letters or the entire word on a strip of paper. Tape them to the right place on the outside of the glass with tape.

Coat the stencil with glue and sprinkle generously with sparkles.

Shake off excess glitter and leave to dry. When the glue is completely dry, remove the paper.

Painting a wedding glass

If artistic abilities are not alien to you, and the nearby store has colorless glass varnish, the wine glasses can be painted with acrylic paints. To do this, first draw a draft of the pattern and secure it inside the glass with pieces of tape. Wipe the outside of the glass with alcohol so that no traces of grease remain on it, and apply the design with a thin brush. Cover the dried paint with a colorless varnish.

If desired, the pattern can be supplemented with rhinestones.

Decorating ideas

Many brides want to have glasses decorated with flowers and lace. The simplest option is fresh or artificial flowers, attached to the base of the stem using hot glue, masked with tape. For example, like this:

It is not necessary that the glasses are absolutely identical, the main thing is the concept and style:

Depending on how much free time you have and how much patience you have, you could do something like this:

They are made in a mixed technique - the glass is lightly coated with silver and decorated with glued beads, pearls and rhinestones.

Decorating glasses with fabric

Another very interesting way to decorate wine glasses is thin matter.

The classic version involves gluing a strip of lace or other openwork fabric in a circular pattern, with or without additional decorations. All accessories are attached to the vessels using “superglue”, a hot-melt gun or other transparent adhesive for glass and ceramics.

To avoid any unpleasant surprises, experiment with other glassware to determine what works best for you before you start working with the final product.

Couples who want to decorate their wedding glasses in a more unusual and original way may like the following decoration:

Cut out all the details of the wedding dresses and glue them one by one onto the glass from the outside. Decorate the groom's suit with a bow tie and fancy buttons, and the bride's veil with sparkles and rhinestones.

Here are a few more options that might inspire you with a fresh idea:

Here the costumes are made on the basis of a satin ribbon wrapped around a wine glass and secured with glue:

Working with polymer clay

And finally, if you have the skills to sculpt with polymer clay, try the following.

1. Roll out a ball with a diameter of approximately 6-7mm, then lightly press it with your finger to get something like this:

2. Make 5 cuts around the circumference without crossing the middle. These are the petals of the future flower.

3. Round off the edges of all petals.

4. Using the tip of a plastic knife, make a longitudinal indentation in the center of each petal.

5. Glue a mother-of-pearl bead into the middle of the flower.

For further work you will need many such blanks.

Once they are completely dry (see drying instructions on the clay package), apply a little glue to the back of each flower and glue them onto the glass in a random order. Add a ribbon to match the flowers to match the beads. You will get such delicate glasses:
