Autumn wreaths of leaves. Beautiful autumn wreaths with your own hands, a master class How to make a decorative autumn wreath from branches

Increasingly, one can notice the tradition of decorating the front door with a decorative wreath. As a rule, this custom is widespread for the New Year and Christmas holidays, for Easter, on March 8, and in the fall it can be done for Halloween or just so that the autumn depression goes away and a good mood reigns.

Autumn decorative wreaths on the door (ideas)

Decorating an autumn wreath with different fruits is a great idea! Any autumn fruits will do - artichokes, apples, pears. The most important question to think about is how to attach these items to the base of the wreath. If the frame of your wreath is made of a dense material (for example, foam plastic) - you can attach it with toothpicks. For these purposes, you can use toothpicks or double-sided tape, a thermal gun.

Autumn wreaths look especially beautiful when they have a lot of all kinds of elements. Create such a multi-layered masterpiece. To do this, make the back layer of small branches, leaves or spikelets. The inner layer can be made from fesalis, acorns and cones. For accents, add a few bright rowan branches and a couple of decorative pumpkins and apples.

Decorative door wreaths made from autumn leaves are a spectacular decoration. In addition, this is one of the easiest ways to decorate a wreath on the door. It looks great as a wreath of the same type of leaves, and a combined version. To make the wreath even more original, add pine cones, chestnuts, acorns, artichokes to the leaves.

The original wreath with pheasant feathers, complemented by nuts, cones, spikelets - a contender for the most interesting wreath in the area. To complete the look, you can attach a satin bow between the bird feathers.

Spikelets of wheat are a symbol of harvest and fertility. Collect a small bouquet of leaves and weave a wreath out of them. You can finish the original wreath with small yellow Canadian maple leaves or a sign "Welcome!".

A wreath of just a few components, decorated with a bow. A similar bow made of satin or velvet will look very nice.

Ripe pumpkins can be used to decorate an autumn wreath on the door, but their main drawback is their fragility. It is much more convenient to use artificial pumpkins, which are lighter and do not deteriorate.

We decorate a wreath

To make an autumn wreath on the door, we need tree branches (or a vine), pieces of brown, gray, deciduous fabric (any autumn shades can be used) / autumn tree leaves, glue, pins, scissors, thread, paper.

In handicraft stores, you can often find a ready-made basis for a decorative wreath.

If you look around and see how generous nature is with gifts, you can understand that you don’t need to buy anything, you just have to not be lazy, come up with an idea and create!

The process of making a wreath for the door is very simple: first, we twist the tree branches into a ring, then we fix the tips of the branches in several places with adhesive tape, wire.

The next step is to decide which door wreath you will make - one-sided or two-sided. In the first version, all decorative elements will be attached both from the “wrong side” and from the front side, no doubt, such a wreath will look more magnificent and more beautiful. In the second version, only the front side is decorated, but given that this wreath will be attached to the door in a vertical position, the “wrong side” will not be visible. For decorating tables, doors, one-sided wreaths are perfect.

When the type of wreath is chosen, you need to make elements for decorating it. It should be remembered that there should be a lot of decor, the remaining elements can be used to make other home decorations. Materials for decorating a wreath should be chosen based on how long you plan to use the wreath. If you want a wreath to decorate the door for a long time, you can cut autumn leaves from multi-colored pieces of fabric. If we are talking about seasonal decor, it will be sufficient to use natural leaves from trees.

Use fabric leaves can be used to make such decorative wreaths:

It is recommended to fix acorns, apples, pears, cones before starting to collect a decorative wreath on a wire or with a special stick, this is necessary so that they look favorably in the overall composition.

Leaves, dried flowers, spikelets, grass are woven in single elements or small bunches.

We decorate the wreath on the door with hot glue or wire. You can use natural materials (grass and flower stems) as fixing elements. But in this case, it is recommended to check them for strength.
If you decide to use glue, you need to do it carefully so that no glue residue is visible.

We attach a wreath to the door and enjoy the result!

When autumn comes and gives us a colossal variety of colors, we always want to join nature, decorate ourselves with its works. Against the background of yellow-orange leaves, very successful pictures are obtained. And to look even more successful, it is best to use wreaths. Autumn wreaths on the head can be completely different. Here are various options for creating wreaths, depending on the purpose of their use.

precious berries

For a reason, women have long adorned themselves with flowers or leaves woven into their hair, especially on holidays. For each occasion, special wreaths were woven, each had its own meaning and at the same time served as an ornament. Before the girls began to wear stones as jewelry, they wove bright berries into their hair - viburnum, mountain ash. Now we rarely think about what the flowers and herbs woven into a wreath mean. Contemporaries put on wreaths mainly for events related to folk holidays, or to emphasize the heritage of Slavic traditions.

Autumn wreaths are the brightest, they were usually made for the holidays dedicated to the harvest, so not only flowers and leaves were woven into them, but also fruits and ears of wheat.

Therefore, the preparation for creating an autumn wreath will be different.

For a few shots during a casual walk in the park, it will be enough to weave together stems of bright leaves that you find along the way.

For the performance of choirs or dance groups, in schools or kindergartens, when wreaths should be the same for everyone, it is important to decide what you will make them from - natural or artificial. The most common and affordable material for an autumn wreath is maple leaves. They are bright, voluminous and have a fairly long stem.

For contrast, it is very good to use rowan berries. They are dense, retain their shape and color well.

It is necessary to prepare these materials, as well as prepare the base - a rim on which leaves and berries will be attached. It can be a piece of wire decorated with threads, or old newspapers twisted with tape, wrapped in nylon tights.

Attach the leaves to the base with a strong thread, decorate with clusters of mountain ash. If there is a sufficient amount of other natural decorative material, then it can also be used.

If you are preparing for an autumn holiday, participating in a harvest festival, for example, or in a folk-style wedding, and you need a voluminous bright wreath, the step-by-step master class below will help you.

nice gift

If you put effort and show creativity, then with your own hands you can create a masterpiece.

To create a wreath you will need:

  1. A base made of any material (vine, paper, wire) or an ordinary plastic hoop;
  2. Coarse thread;
  3. Pre-harvested leaves, bunches of berries, cones, physalis, fruits, etc.;
  4. Flowers (sunflowers, chrysanthemums, asters, dahlias) natural or artificial;
  5. Glue;
  6. Paraffin, container for it.

Wrap the base with threads or nylon tights to make it easier to attach decorative components to it.

Melt the parffin, dip each leaf and berries into it, as in the photo. Dry. Materials prepared in this way will not break and will take on a more decorative look. Flowers and fruits do not need to be treated like this.

This process is lengthy and may take a couple of hours. If there is no time, you can use artificial leaves and berries.

Attach the prepared materials in order to compose a composition that most advantageously harmonizes with all the prepared materials.

Attach leaves, flowers and berries with thread or glue (small parts) to the base. The wreath is ready.

For a wedding, you need to choose more delicate and light colors of the decorative material.

Girls in wreaths at weddings look very touching and cute. Therefore, bridesmaids use this element of decoration very willingly. A wedding wreath can be kept as a souvenir and decorate the wall of the room with it. For the bride herself, elements of a wreath are usually used, decorating her hair with them.

Women's faces are very flowers. And the bright and delicate shades of the autumn bouquet make their image elegant and unusual. And even professional photographers can have a DIY autumn wreath in their arsenal, which will decorate any model during an autumn photo shoot.

30 ideas how to make an autumn wreath with your own hands - from leaves, cones and other materials updated: October 17, 2016 by: Margarita Glushko

Many poets and artists in their works glorified autumn for its unsurpassed beauty and richness of colors. It is difficult to find a person who would not agree that this time of year during periods of leaf fall is especially beautiful. In these golden days, photo sessions are actively held in nature, and autumn balls are invariably held in kindergartens and schools. Such events require attributes in a certain theme, autumn wreaths look especially impressive and symbolic just for photo shoots on the head. Such a decoration will undoubtedly become a bright accent on a thematic photo. And what “Autumn” will allow itself to appear at the ball without a beautiful headdress?

It is easy to make an autumn wreath with your own hands, and a variety of materials can be used - from natural to purchased. In this article, we offer two options for making such an accessory.

We make autumn wreaths on our heads with our own hands in a step-by-step master class

An autumn wreath made of natural material is the easiest and most affordable way to make jewelry, while it turns out to be bright and original.

For him you will need:
  • autumn leaves on a long handle (maple leaves are most suitable) - about 50 pieces;
  • braid or strong thread.

Maple leaves are ideal for such purposes. They must first be collected in sufficient quantities, paying attention to their appearance: they must be clean, soft, even, beautiful. A wreath will look very interesting if it contains different shades - red, yellow, orange, green. As bright accents in the decoration, you can use rowan branches or any autumn flowers.

Before you start weaving a wreath, you need to measure the circumference of your head. This will be the required length of the product.

  1. After everything is prepared, you can start weaving a wreath. We first take two sheets, wrap the stalk of one of them around the other (see photo below).
  2. The next leaf is also attached, only its stalk fixes the previous two already. Thus, we interweave the required number of leaves. In a similar way, you can fix a branch of mountain ash or a flower in a wreath.
  3. We firmly tie the edges of the product with a braid or a strong thread, cut the ponytails or mask them under the leaves.

This is what the finished piece will look like.

Trying to make a beautiful wreath of artificial leaves in a step-by-step tutorial

A wreath made from purchased artificial materials will cost more, but it can be used for more than one year. This option is useful for a photographer in his studio, and for events in a kindergarten or school, it will be very useful.

To make it, you need to prepare:

  • sheets of paper or newspaper;
  • scotch;
  • glue gun;
  • leg-split;
  • scissors;
  • artificial autumn leaves, fruits, flowers, etc.

Let's start by measuring the circumference of the head - the same length should be at the circumference of the wreath. Next steps:

  1. We make the base out of paper, for this we twist it into bundles and connect it into a circle with the help of adhesive tape, we wrap it around the entire workpiece.
  2. Carefully wrap the entire rim with twine.
  3. Using a glue gun, we fix the decorative elements to our liking.
Felt wreath.

An autumn felt wreath will turn out bright and interesting, its production will take a little more time than the options described above, but the result will definitely please.

Let's prepare the materials:

  • sheets of felt (yellow, red, brown, orange);
  • scissors;
  • glue gun;
  • headband for the base.

Let's start manufacturing.

  • The most time-consuming process is the preparation of multi-colored autumn leaves. In order for them to turn out even and beautiful, you need to make templates. They can be found on the Internet, printed and cut out, or drawn by yourself. Leaves can be from different trees - oak, maple, birch.
  • According to the templates, we cut the required number of leaves of different colors from felt. If you need a voluminous wreath, then you will need about 30 blanks, for such an option as in the photo below, 7-9 pieces are enough.
  • The last stage - we fix the felt leaves on the rim with a glue gun in random order.

The instructions provided can be the basis for creating a unique autumn wreath that fits perfectly on your head. In addition to those described, there are a large number of ideas for making such an accessory, for example:

  • as a base, you can use a hair band, attach jewelry to it with a glue gun;
  • a wreath can be made of foamiran, using the quilling or kanzashi technique;
  • living autumn leaves can also be glued to the base, and not intertwined.

After being used for its intended purpose, autumn wreaths can decorate the front door or decorate the room.

Video selection on the topic of the article

To help, we offer several videos on creating autumn wreaths.

Autumn leaves make for quite a pretty look and can be used in a wide variety of ways to decorate your home during the fall season. However, in autumn you should not limit yourself to bright leaves alone: wreaths of oak branches with acorns, cones, various dry herbs, even small apples, put on twigs woven into the base of the wreath, will add a pleasant variety and sophistication to the surrounding decor.

With this activity - thanks to its simplicity in a number of steps - children can help you, for example, choosing leaves and cones for a wreath and even weaving them into the base.

Difficulty: moderate.

You will need:
- base for a wreath - see options in paragraph 1;
- wire for crafts;
- glue;
- autumn leaves and other, chosen by you, decorative components for a wreath;
- suitable tapes.

1. It is most convenient and cheapest to use as a base a circle of several intertwined (creating holes for inserting and fixing decorative elements) strong, thick, but pliable wires. You can buy a similar thing in a specialized store with little things for needlework, but you can also twist a single circle yourself, for example, from an iron hanger: just straighten the wire from the hanger, leaving only the top hook intact (you can then hang a wreath for it), and make it out of the bottom of the circle. If you cannot secure the wire with your hands, use tools like pliers. Try to make the circle as even and precise as possible.

The bases made of natural dried twigs (vine or wood, and other materials) will cost a little more in stores, but this option will look more aesthetically pleasing and will make it easier for you to create a wreath - if in this case the base is visible, it will simply become composition element. Similarly, you can make a similar base yourself by cutting some fresh branches, interlacing them with each other (or just wire them together in a few places in a circle), and securely joining them in a circle - then you need to let them dry in this form.

The third option is to create a wreath, like in summer, weaving decorative elements as we weave the base from a suitable material that is quite rigid, capable of holding its shape, but pliable. This will make it much easier to attach the decorations, but you need to make sure that they become tightly next to each other (when you fold the wreath, the distances on the outer circle between the decorations will increase).
The fourth is to use oak branches (or any other branches, for example, with berries and leaves) immediately with leaves and acorns as a base.

2. Decide what shape you will have a wreath - double-sided (more stylish, and look better), when decorative elements are attached both in front and behind, and from all sides; or one-sided, when the decor is created only from the front, front side, and the one that leans against the door / wall remains empty. For a door, it is better to use the first option, for walls and in the case of small wreaths for tables / shelves, the second option is optimal.

3. Gather everything you need to decorate the wreath - here comes the principle "it's better to have too much than not enough later." Depending on how long your wreath will need to hang, you can choose real leaves and other components, or artificial ones - they can all be found in the same needlework stores.
Before use, real leaves should be dried a little - so that they retain their shape in the wreath, drying completely, and at the same time they do not crumble during the creation of the wreath.

4. Some elements of wreaths, like apples or cones, it is advisable to pre-plant on a wire for needlework or glue them to sticks so that they do not get lost in the wreath, and they can be fixed at the right distance from the base.

Leaves, dried flowers, spikelets, feathers, dried spongy mushrooms, dried lotus pods, etc. can be woven / fastened both one at a time and in bunches - to maintain the round shape of the wreath.

Hot glue is a great help in creating wreaths and it perfectly fixes the components. Alternatively, use dried flower stems/long leaves as rope (but they must be strong) or craft wire. Glue is a less neat fixture, while wire is easier to hide, and dry vegetable "ropes" in principle will always look like part of the composition.

A wreath can be made relatively flat by weaving decorations so that they diverge to the sides, or voluminous by attaching, like leaves, and everything else “upright”.

5. Decide whether you will tie a bow at the bottom of the wreath according to the classical tradition or not.
If so, the place for the bow must be taken into account in advance during weaving, so that it does not look like an inappropriate appendage on top of other decorative elements, but, on the contrary, is slightly recessed closer to the base of the wreath.
For a bow, either thin ribbons or large ones are suitable, the average width usually does not look good. Choose warm tones of ribbons. Pay attention to suede, plush, rough fabric (burlap and analogues), as well as the ability to make a bow from dry stems / vegetable "ribbons".

6. You can hang a wreath on the base, on an iron hook, but a ribbon loop from above will look neater and more aesthetically pleasing. It will also give the wreath a more finished look.

Additions and warnings:

Wire wreath bases are easier to use and better weather resistant if the wreath is to be hung outside. Here it must be taken into account that the bases, for example, from foam plastic or dry stems, are not suitable for the street in principle;

Before using natural decorative elements, make sure that there are no bugs in them - you definitely shouldn’t bring the latter into the house;

When working with wire, branches and hot glue, be careful - keep them away from your face, keep them out of the hands of children, use protection;

Polystyrene bases for a wreath and bases in the form of a sponge do not look at all here, because an autumn wreath is a combination of lightness, richness and naturalness;

If you use glue, before hanging the wreath, do not forget to let it dry for a day.
