How to sew an office sundress. A simple pattern of sundresses for the office: building, modeling. You need to choose such clothes from the office from a dense and opaque fabric.

In the office, the style should be emphatically business-like, while clothes should be comfortable and go well with other wardrobe items. The sundress was the best fit for this role, but subject to some changes in fabrics and models.

What is a sundress for the office?

Instead of thin (sometimes too wrinkled) and bright fabric, fashion designers used wrinkle-resistant dense materials with the addition of wool and viscose.

The silhouette of the sundress has become more fitted, and instead of frivolous thin straps and neckline, a full-fledged bodice, cut without sleeves, has appeared. This circumstance allows you to wear a blouse or a thin knitted golf under a sundress, which perfectly refreshes the appearance of the product, giving it a novelty. You can stock up on an arsenal of blouses and tops to look different every day.

Models of sundresses for the office

Your imagination and skillful hands of the master can work wonders, and your dress for the office will have the outlines that you like the most. However, there are several options for the finished dress, which are used for mass tailoring in light industry.

Sundress-case

The bodice of such an office outfit is quite closed. There may be a small cut on the chest. The silhouette is fitted, the lower part of the sundress narrows, forming an "hourglass". The length of the product varies depending on preferences, but most often the dress code requires that the skirt cover the knees.

Such a sundress can be worn over a thin golf or blouse. The model fastens with a long zipper sewn into the side seam. Thanks to such a fastening system, the tailor gets the opportunity to literally sculpt a woman, making the outfit quite tight-fitting.

If a feature of your physique is a massive lower part, then such a sundress will help hide your flaws and emphasize your dignity.

Sundress tunic

This model has a free flying silhouette. Most often it is sewn from knitwear. Its texture allows you to disguise the fullness in the hips and waist, which is an important advantage for full ladies of Balzac age.

Excessively thin women also often prefer such models so as not to once again emphasize their thinness. As a rule, the bodice of a sundress is draped.

This allows you to create original silhouettes with falling warehouses. You can put on such a sundress simply through the neck. The recommended length is to the knee, however, thanks to the loose fit, you can afford a shorter version.

Such jersey sundresses look very organic with a translucent golf mesh. You can pick it up both in tone to the product, and in a different shade. This will only give your outfit originality.

Sundress with thin straps

We have already mentioned above that office sundresses differ from beach summer sundresses in the classic cut of the bodice, which is performed with almost no neckline. However, as the proverb says - "Every iron rule has its golden exceptions."

Therefore, fashion designers designed an office sundress with straps. It is a strict straight-cut skirt, to which a detail is sewn, which, like a corset, fits around the waist, and straps are already attached to it. They are more of a decorative character and since the outfit is able to hold on without them.

As a fastener, as well as in sheath sundresses, they use a long snake sewn into the side seam. The material for such an office dress with straps can be both knitwear and suit fabric with the addition of wool and viscose.

Such a model of a sundress is more suitable for ladies with classic shapes - wide hips and a narrow waist.

When working in the office, be sure to adhere to business style, as required by the corporate rules of many companies in order to maintain the image of the company. Therefore, it is useful for craftswomen who sew clothes for themselves and to order. The simplest version of such a wardrobe item is a sheath dress, for sewing which a regular pattern of a fitted or straight silhouette is used.

The whole creation process can be divided into several main stages, overcoming which you will create an excellent strict outfit.

Stage one: taking measurements

In order for the pattern of sundresses for the office to fit in size, it must be built based on your own measurements. This is precisely the beauty of individual tailoring, because things that are sold on the market and in the store are sewn according to generally accepted standard volumes. And they, as you know, do not always coincide with real forms. That is why girls have to try on a huge number of dresses in order to choose the one that fits perfectly on the figure.

So, to build a template, you will need the following measurements:

  • bust, waist, hips, neck;
  • back width;
  • solution of breast tucks;
  • shoulder width;
  • chest height;
  • back and front length to the waist.

Stage two: building a drawing of the workpiece

The pattern of a warm sundress for the office and the summer version are built identically, the only difference is the allowance for a loose fit. For a summer product, 1 cm is added to the measure, and 2 cm for a warm product.

The drawing is developed on the basis of a quadrilateral with sides corresponding to 1/2 of the volume of the chest + an increase in the length of the product. Horizontally in the drawing, you should immediately mark the height of the chest, waist, hips and draw lines that form an auxiliary grid.

At this stage, the main pattern of sundresses for the office is ready. It can already be used for sewing products from dense and thin fabrics.

Modeling and construction

The workpiece can be modified by adding embossed seams. To do this, the pattern of sundresses for the office is drawn in accordance with the desired lines, and then cut into elements. In this way, you can mark the borders for combining different colors of fabric, or simply make seams and stitch them beautifully.

Stage three: cutting and assembly

How to cut summer and for the office? The pattern should be built taking into account the allowance for a free fit, which is added not only along the chest line, but also along the hips and waist. Otherwise, the product will hinder movement. An exception can only be a fabric with elastane or knitwear. For the rest, open the standard one. An allowance is made along the contour of the parts for processing seams: along the hem - 4 cm, and along the seams - 1 cm. If the fabric is very loose, then the allowance can be increased.

To make the product easy to put on, it is better to make it with a zipper. To do this, you can use a tractor or secret lock 75 cm long. It should be inserted into the middle seam of the back, on which you can also make a cut for a comfortable step. You can also make narrowed down for the office. Patterns in this case are narrowed along the side seam from the hip line to the hem by about 5 cm.

Stage four: decoration

A blank that is completely simple to build in combination with a calm fabric will make the product strict, and in order to somewhat improve the image, it needs to be properly decorated. For example, embroider it at the neckline with discreet stones to match the main fabric, or make a lace or contrasting collar. It will also look good to have a thin belt at the waist, for which you definitely need to make belt loops. Such a product can be worn with a thin mesh under the throat or a plain tight knitted T-shirt.

The simpler the silhouette, the richer the material can be chosen. And it's not just about color, it's about texture. Embossed weaving of the canvas is ideal for a calm sundress. The product with embroidery across the material field will look original. Such a sundress will not need to be decorated and complemented with vertical seams with trim. Here, the simplest pattern of a sundress for the office is suitable.

"Burda" is one of the sewing magazines that quite often uses such techniques with a minimum amount of detail and maximum saturation of the fabric. It is these wardrobe items that, as a rule, become the most beloved, because there is nothing superfluous in them.

  • Backrest 1 piece
  • Shelf 1 item
  • Back yoke 1 piece
  • Shelf yoke 2 parts
  • Plank 4 parts

  • Back armhole facing 2 parts
  • Turning the armhole of the shelf 2 parts

Sewing a sundress

Overcast all open sections after stitching.

  • First, the strips, top flaps, neckline and armhole facings should be duplicated with adhesive interlining.
  • Process the valves and stitch on the shelf according to the marks. If you are confident in your abilities, you can process pockets instead of fake valves.
  • Process the planks on the shelf. Don't forget to stitch the zipper according to the marks.
  • Coquette backs and shelves for now do not stitch to the main details. First, stitch the shoulder seams of the coquettes (back and front), iron on the back.
  • Process the neck - turn with a turn, sweep, iron.
  • Stitch the yoke to the back.
  • On the shelf, lay the folds according to the marks, fix with pins.
  • Stitch the yoke to the shelf. We put the yoke on the shelf, bend the facing to the wrong side of the shelf (as if wrapping the bar with a facing), grind it and turn it inside out. Thus, we get a beautifully and cleanly processed strap-neck knot.
  • Stitch side seams.
  • Finish the armholes with stitches.
  • Hem the bottom of the sundress.
  • Along the edge of the placket, neckline and armholes, you can lay a finishing line.

To look slimmer, always choose contrasting blouses for this sundress. Then the silhouette is visually perceived not as one cloud, but is divided into three verticals: in the middle there is a slender figure, and on the sides are hands in light chiffon, for example.

The office version of clothing is not like everyone else.
