Better than before: how to revive old shoes so that they are like new. Alteration of shoes: from ordinary to designer! Alteration of sandals

Do you like it? It's a completely different matter than the shoes from the post "a selection of creative shoes", right?

How exactly - a very detailed master class on converting ordinary boats into shoes from the latest Ferragamo collection under the cut:

You will need:

A pair of shoes - for ease of use, choose with a more or less pointed nose.
Fabric in "chicken foot" of the appropriate size.
Acrylic glue for fabric or matte varnish for decoupage
Sponge for applying glue, scissors, a lot (a lot!) of patience. Well, here we go :-):

Cut out two irregularly shaped pentagons to cover the existing heels.

If the fabric has a pattern such as a paw or a cage - do not forget to make sure that the direction of the pattern on both heels is the same - you don’t want to resemble the heroine of the movie “Nights of Cabiria” with her plaid jacket and you are also unlikely to take the place of the queen of plaid asymmetry.

Using a sponge, apply the glue over the fabric to the entire surface of the heel, well smearing it only once.

Putting each "detail" on the heel with a triangle up, press - and do not forget to smooth out all the wrinkles.

In order for the fabric to lie flat, leave the heels in this form to dry later. As the glue dries, cut off everything sticking out, leaving 5 mm of stock.

We ourselves, while the heels are drying, are engaged in the toes of the shoes - we also coat them with one, but a good, layer of glue. We cut out two large rectangles from the fabric, we need to cut them out, focusing on your shoes - the size will vary depending on your shoe size and depending on the shape of the nose. It is better to cut with a margin - you will always have time to cut off the excess.

All the time, watch the pattern so that it goes in the same direction on both the right and left shoes.

Pressing a piece of fabric in the center to the nose of the shoe, carefully smooth out all the gatherings of the fabric, pulling it. Leave it to dry like this.

As soon as the fabric more or less “grabs”, grab it in the area of the toe and cut a small “triangle” there at the very tip - so that later you can bend and glue the fabric in this place. Try not to disturb the drawing too noticeably.

Now how to glue this sock: add more glue to this place, bend the fabric on both sides at the time of the envelope, so that it overlaps each other, press it well and glue it again.

Lay the remaining fabric loosely over the shoes (so that the pattern matches the socks), then cut a small slit in the center. Gradually increase it, all the while making sure you still have enough fabric left to cover both sides of the shoe. But the hole should be large enough, so that the fabric can lie well on the sides with it.

Doing each side in turn, coat the sides with glue, press and straighten the fabric, leave it to dry in this form, then only take on the second side.

When everything is dry - excess fabric can be cut off - but leave 2 cm for a hem "just in case" - including the back seam.

How to make a back seam: first, glue one side of the protruding fabric to the heel, then, when it dries, the second, overlapping, on the first. Or you can try to go out and stick directly on each side exactly cut off along the real seam of the heel - but this method is more suitable for fabric without a pattern. If you need to combine the pattern - the overlapping method is much more convenient.

Trim excess fabric around the entire shoe, leaving 4-5 mm in reserve or cutting off along the edge of the sole. The author of the master class did this and that, depending on the area of the shoes with which she was working at the moment.

Having carefully smeared the edges of the shoe along the edge inside, fold the remnants of the fabric there and press it. Let dry :-) (now you understand why I talked about patience))?

We still have a noticeable seam between the heel and the heel. It must be hidden. To do this, four strips are cut out of the same fabric with a width of no more than 1 cm, overlapped like an oblique tape, glued (so that the threads do not stick out anywhere later). You can also use just a thinner oblique tape - a contrasting one, for example. Having smeared the place under the tape well with glue, press the tape there, and overlap its edges with the same glue under the heel on the outside of the heel.

Voila! All is ready.

As an old cynic - I must warn you that I personally am washing my hands now).

I will do this only when there is already a “lack of fish” for the day off with the right shoes in stores and only with unnecessary shoes. Not only can they not get caught in the rain - I think dancing, for example, these shoes will not survive either - even if you use rubber, special glue for shoes - they will still lose their plasticity from kinks and in such places the fabric together with glue will peel off.

Required for work:

90 g (one skein and even then not a whole one) YarnArt Pearl threads (violet color, 115).
- Hook number 3.5.
- Shoe awl (it has a hole or a hook at the sharp end).
- Clay Moment-crystal or Secunda - in general, any transparent.
- Shoes made of artificial suede (it does not shine and the threads slip less on it).

First, with an ordinary awl, you need to make holes in the leatherette of the shoes, no further than half a centimeter from the sole. It is better, of course, to make holes as often as possible. It is possible at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from each other and the problem of gaps was solved. Then it is necessary to stretch a thread into these holes - the same one that was knitted. The toe makes it harder to do this. Basically, for the toe, you need a shoe awl. In other places, you can simply flash with a thick needle. Bring the ends of the threads out, they can be hidden in knitting, but inside they can interfere.

This is how the holes look from the inside (from the inside they are back to back and are not visible if you do not bend so much)

Tie the resulting stitches with single crochets, and fill the gaps between the stitches with a chain of air loops - the number is determined by the distance. It is better to start knitting in the middle of the inside of the shoe - this is the most inconspicuous place and it is best to hide the transitions to the next row there.
On the resulting row, impose more single crochets. And lower this row down - he closed the transition to the sole.

And again in the same warp threads and in air loops, knit a row of double crochets. But not to the end - tie the previously knitted ribbon lace detail in front.

We take this detail according to the scheme.

By attaching this detail to the toe, it becomes clear to what place it is necessary to knit the double crochets and, after the last column, attach the detail to the row. Double crochet and double crochet, as required by the lace detail, and continue double crochets on the other side of the shoe.

Then we take it no longer in a circle, but from the right side of the lace to the left. So, changing the double crochet and without, so that you can knit a pico of three loops back from the lace in the last row. It turns out the shoes were knitted with a ladder. The last row turned out on top of the heel.

In the photo, you can make out the ladder and the change of columns with and without a crochet. This is just the inner part of the shoe, the most inconspicuous.

If somewhere something turned out uneven - it's not scary. At the end of the work, having fixed and cut off all the threads, you can stretch the fabric so that a row of picot protrudes beyond the top of the shoe and glue the top of the shoe with glue to glue the knitted fabric.

It happens that there is such a pair of shoes that are already tired, but it is a pity to throw them away because they are comfortable. Or maybe you have somewhere peeled off the heel or nose of your favorite shoes. It will not be possible to sell them, so there is only one way out - to save. So, let's see what can be used for disguise and decoration.

1. Sequins

All you need is PVA glue, a brush and glitter. All you have to do is smear glue on clean, dry shoes and sprinkle with glitter, which is easy to find in the stationery department or craft stores. Don't forget to put something on your work surface before you start creating. You can decorate with sequins the entire shoe, the sole, heels, noses, or apply a pattern of sequins. If you are making out only part of the shoe, seal the junction with another surface with paper tape for the duration of work to avoid smudges. Use adhesive stencils to create brilliant designs. You can combine sequins with other decorations, such as stones (see photo with sneakers).

2. Rhinestones, stones, sequins and other decor

Large parts can be put on superglue or use a hot gun. Before applying hot glue, practice on other items to control the thickness of the layer. Create unique pebble designs on any part of the shoe. Using tweezers, applying pebbles can be much more convenient and the pattern will be more accurate. When applying a drop of glue to a rhinestone, consider its required amount. If there is too much glue when pressed, it will flow out of the pebble. Any decorative elements, rhinestones, stones, metal fragments, chains, ropes, spikes, buttons, ready-made sequin ribbons, etc. can be glued onto shoes.

You can measure a piece of lace on the shoe, sheathe it thickly with sequins, glue the lace to the shoe, stitch it again with threads for additional fixation, then fill in the gaps by gluing large rhinestones. The final touch is to cut off the excess lace, if any.

3. Brooches, flowers, bows, fringes, tassels

A very simple way. It is enough just to glue or pin brooches, bows or flowers. Be sure to glue the fringe and very carefully so that excess glue is not visible. Tassels can simply be hung on the strap of your favorite sandals.

4. Fur and feathers

It might look amazing. Choose fur that matches or contrasts with shoes, glue on fluffy pompoms or luxurious feathers. You can not limit yourself in quantity. The main thing is that everything should look beautiful. Get inspired by expensive designer shoes. Choose original solutions where to stick the pompom or in which direction to direct the feathers.

5. Stickers on the sole

Now there are a lot of such stickers, but the most popular are Shoelicks, because. promise greater weather resistance and are suitable for any sole shape. Without removing the protective layer, you need to attach the sticker to the sole, break the edges in shape, cut out the sticker, then remove the protective layer and gradually stick it so that air does not get in. You can find a very beautiful sticker pattern and make your shoes personalized.

6. Painting and painting

Someone uses a special waterproof paint or marker to paint any surface on the shoes, others paint the sole and heel with nail polish, others use paint in a spray can to create ombre effects. Don't forget to cover those parts that should remain unpainted. The beauty of these methods is that you create a whole work of art. For those who are unsure of their artistic abilities, stencils are perfect.

7. Laces

If you are satisfied with the condition of your shoes, but the appearance seems already tired, try experimenting with laces. Insert colored laces or ribbons. You can use multiple colors at once. Try a new way of lacing.

8. Fabric

Choose an applique or cut out a piece of lace with a large openwork and glue it to any part of the shoe. Craft lovers can glue a pre-cut piece of lace onto the glue and create a completely new look for your shoes. Another very elegant solution is to sew a draped decor for your favorite couple. You can use an unnecessary flap or handkerchief to tie a jumper on your fingers or a strap. Check that it is comfortable to wear, because. fabric will create extra thickness. It is better to lay the matter smoothly. If necessary, you can fix the ends inside with adhesive tape or even put on glue if you decide to wear it always.

Tell us if you have changed the look of your shoes or maybe you are going to try.

When a shoe becomes a favorite, it is very difficult to part with it. I want to wear it all the time. But this, unfortunately, is not always possible, because any thing has its own expiration date. Often shoes deteriorate. But this does not mean at all that it should immediately be thrown into the trash can. There are so many options on how you can reanimate used shoes so that they become much better than they were before. We have collected the most popular methods of restoration and alteration of shoes that everyone can use.

Turning leather into suede

If your old leather boots are already pretty worn out, but you don’t have the strength to part with them, there is a great way to save your favorite pair - remake the leather into suede. To do this, you need to stuff the boots well inside with paper so that they do not lose their shape. Then sprinkle with any alcohol (vodka is good for this) and rub the shoes with a metal brush or pumice stone. Of course, the effect depends, first of all, on the quality of the skin. With a cheap option, this trick will not work.

Boots with glitter

Any boring or old shoes can be easily remade into a glamorous and elegant one. To do this, it is necessary to seal the heel with adhesive tape (so that the sparkles do not spoil it), grease the metal parts (zippers and rivets) thickly with petroleum jelly, stuff them with bags or paper from the inside so that the shoes keep their shape well. Next, glue small areas of the shoe with glue and sprinkle them with sparkles, and, to be sure, you can press them with your fingers. By the way, do not feel sorry for the sequins, otherwise the shoes may turn out to be “spotted”. That's all. Now you just need to dry your boots and voila - glamorous shoes are ready. Tip: shoes with smooth leather must first be wiped with sandpaper, otherwise the sparkles can quickly crumble.

golden shoes

In order to convert ordinary shoes into shiny ones, we suggest using the previous advice with some amendments. Lacquer shoes also need to be rubbed with sandpaper, so the sparkles will go better. But, before coating, we recommend that you first mix the glitter with glue in a separate container, and then apply it to the surface of the shoes with a brush. By the way, since this process is rather “dirty”, we recommend that you first lay out a newspaper, otherwise the sparkles will spread with crazy force throughout the apartment.

We restore fabric sneakers

If small scuffs or holes appear on the fabric basis of your favorite sneakers, it doesn’t matter. Defects can be fixed with a patch. To do this, you must first sew a piece of raincoat fabric on worn places. It is best to do this from the outside, so as not to experience discomfort while wearing. Then you need to cut a piece of the patch of the desired shape, remove the protective film from it and attach the fabric to the shoe. With the iron heated to the maximum, iron the thermal patch until the wrinkles disappear on it.

Reworking boring sandals

If you don’t want to wear old sandals anymore, but it’s a pity to throw them away, then they can be easily redone. To do this, you only need nail polish or paint in a spray can. Strappy shoes are best suited for such an alteration, because they are the ones that need to be varnished. Of course, you should also paint over the toe and heel, if any.

To whiten white soles on sneakers or sneakers, which get dirty very quickly, you need to grind citric acid powder over the entire surface of the sole. Shoes should be left on for a while and then washed off with water. An old toothbrush and whitening paste is another proven way to deal with dirt on the soles of sneakers.
In order to wash shoes in a washing machine, it is necessary to put them in a special bag. Then select the delicate washing mode with a water temperature not higher than 30 degrees.

But there is another problem that everyone faces while wearing shoes - this is an unpleasant smell, which is sometimes very difficult to overcome. But it is still possible, because there is
