Master class (Cheshire cat). Mk brooch "Cheshire cat" from Irina Shcherbakova

Do you want to creatively celebrate the most terrible and controversial holiday? Then you need to choose How do you like the Cheshire cat? This is a really interesting character. He is very wise, but completely crazy. He is polite, but slightly cynical. After all, he is the only cat in the world that can disappear backwards. To transform into this weirdo, you have to master the make-up of the Cheshire cat. It would be nice to take "Alice" or at least "The Hatter" with you to the holiday!

The holiday comes to us

Many people do not understand Halloween and deny this holiday in every possible way. Indeed, what good can a day bring to our culture when you can dress up as a serial killer or a walking corpse, and then walk around the houses collecting sweets?! But for some reason, Russian Kolyadas do not bother such antagonists! So is the antipathy to the holiday due only to its Western origin? But this is real discrimination!

This holiday is by no means American. He came from the Celts! And this is not at all but just a time when you can smile, looking into the face of your fears. If the child is afraid of the dark, then make him a Black Cloak or Count Dracula costume. Will he be afraid when he himself spends the whole day in the role of the one everyone is afraid of? Most likely, he will understand that the existence of such characters is a fantasy!

The most harmless psycho

If you still don’t feel like dressing up as a blood-splattered corpse, then you can try the make-up of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. This hero, of course, is unlikely to scare anyone, but it definitely attracts!

An undoubted philosopher, always calm and very interesting. Remember, in a fairy tale, he seemed to be Alice's only friend, her faithful companion, prompting in difficult situations. At the same time, the Cheshire Cat is very condescending towards the other inhabitants of Wonderland, rightly admitting that they are all crazy here.

Is Cheshire Cat makeup right for you? Still, in this image, you can’t get by with a simple growl, which would be enough for the role of a zombie! The Cheshire cat is wayward and handsome, so try to make him a bright character of the holiday!

Decide on the view

Before choosing one image, it is worth studying at least the lists of the most popular ones. Vampire themes are definitely in trend right now, and Twilight and The Vampire Diaries-inspired looks are sure to fill any party. To embody the image is not so difficult: a glamorous make-up, fangs and a somewhat absent look with a thirst for blood in the eyes.

"The Living Dead" does not lose relevance. This is the most popular, but not so interesting costume. It must be remembered that zombies do not follow clothes, they may well walk with a nail in their head or with a bloody cake instead of an eye. "Zombies" do not differ in social activity, so this image is not entirely suitable for sociable people.

But a variation on the theme of cartoon zombies will be interesting. Almost all Tim Burton characters are in trend - from Edward Scissorhands to Willy Wonka. The corpse bride requires elaborate makeup and blue skin, but this look will leave the girl feminine and very pretty! The makeup of the Cheshire cat is also suitable here, if you embody the image from the Burton movie!

Animal color options are also popular. Halloween is likely to be full of tiger cubs, panthers, cats, and even monkeys. In principle, the make-up of the Cheshire Cat can also be attributed here, although it has already been said that this is not such an unambiguous hero.

"A man with two faces" is an image from the category of complex ones. If you are not a make-up genius, then it is better not to take it, otherwise you will end up with an ordinary clown, which, by the way, will also scare many.

How to do?

By the looks of it, if you want to go for the Cheshire cat makeup for Halloween. It is not so difficult, but interesting and allows for variations on the proposed theme. Do not be afraid that your cat will turn out to be kind, because a party does not necessarily mean the presence of horror. For example, often on Halloween they make a coloring for a Bambi deer or a Barbie doll.

So, how to make a Cheshire cat makeup? Stock up on paint and remember that you don't need to turn into a painted doll. With a selected wardrobe, a couple of strokes in makeup are enough. The cat has no blush and generally not enough warm tones on the muzzle, so the blush is off to the side. But the powder will be in place. Especially if you have freckles or acne. Let the muzzle of the cat be clean. The predatory smile of a cat is the main focus in makeup, so you need to start work with it.

Take a simple black pencil and outline the smile from ear to ear. Draw lines below and above the lips. Next, go along the borders with black paint. Fill the inner area with white paint, including the lips. The cat must constantly smile, and therefore a line is also needed from the corners of the lips to the drawn ones. To draw teeth, you can use a pencil or even henna, but in the second case, the Halloween Cheshire cat makeup will have to be carried into everyday life!

Bonuses and nuances

Remember that the "Cheshire Cat" is not so difficult to complete step by step if you initially sketch the image. The cat is a bright character and even crazy, so colored cat lenses will come in handy. Let them be the color of azure or turquoise. Yellow eyes (or amber) might suit a cat better, but it looks really creepy. To green eyes, you can add the same eyebrow flowers and strokes on the mustache. Make the shape of the eyes almond-shaped, because you are still depicting a cat. By the way, the character does not have to be a guy. You can make a Cheshire cat - add curls and even a bow on the neck!

dangers

Do-it-yourself Cheshire cat makeup is easy to do, and for this there is no need to use complex dyes. It is enough to focus on the type of your own skin and the level of sweating. Still, the party can be long and pencils can "float". To avoid this, it is worth powdering the finished makeup in order to fix it.

To the feast and to the world!

A spectacular manicure, hair crayons and massive jewelry resembling a collar will complement the image of a wild cat. Do not forget about false eyelashes, because the cat has them beautiful by nature. The hairstyle should be neat or completely crazy. There can be no intermediate option, since "wild" makeup requires an appropriate frame.

Clothing at a party should not distract from makeup, because the Cheshire cat is famous for the fact that it can only lure with a smile and soar without its body. So the outfit can be dark and modest, but still not one hundred percent girlish and tender. A dark-colored jumpsuit or jeans with a spotted sweater is suitable. A minimum of jewelry - only massive accessories that emphasize the essence of a cat. If desired, you can purchase with pads to languidly stretch and purr at the sight of friends.

In this article, we will try to show, using the example of one of our works, the main stages of making a sculpture from a mammoth tusk, as well as the tools and equipment necessary for this.

For this sculpture, we took this piece of tusk, weighing almost a kilogram, suitable in size for future work, of course, not the best copy, because. there are quite deep cracks, but there was no other at that time. The largest crack is almost through, it is better to immediately chip it off with a chisel and a hammer.

To cut a workpiece, you need a powerful drill, we have a Foredom SR, a reinforced tip and a large cutter, it is desirable that there are several of them.
This is what the workplace looks like.

A few tips for more convenient work, a micromotor and homemade "rivets" made from ordinary needle files for manual finishing, which we will need at the end of the work.

A set of burs and cutters on a convenient rotating stand.

Tips close-up.

Ventilation in the form of a Minibox EMC vacuum cleaner, which is synchronized with a drill, and, of course, musical accompaniment!

An apron with an exhaust hood significantly reduces the amount of dust, and it is not enough, especially in the early stages of work. Approximately 90% of the dust is sucked in, large chips remain on the apron, then we shake it off there.

Drill Foredom SR and a beautiful view from the window.

Everything is very compact, because. we work on a loggia of 3.5 sq. m. on which somehow managed to place all our equipment!

General view of the workshop.

Let's get to work!

With the help of such a cutter, we remove everything superfluous, the roar of a drill, a vacuum cleaner and music create a wild cacophony!!!

Here are the main cutters that will be used at this stage.

We take another tip with a “bud” cutter and soften the trimming a little.

After this cutter, the workpiece looks like this.

Then we take abrasive nozzles and grind the entire surface, so that later it would be more convenient to apply the drawing.

We get such a "remnant".

Another machine "Corvette-50", with the help of which we trim the base of the sculpture.

Approximately so the surface becomes perfectly flat.

Now we apply the drawing with a pencil, usually we start cutting the sculpture from the head.

A plastic pipe was adapted for the micromotor, which turned out to be a convenient stand.

We circle the main lines of the cat's muzzle with the help of a "chopper", this is a home-made bur, sharpened in the form of a cone with three edges, in further work it will be used very often.

Here is what we get as a result.

"Balls" are used with a diameter of 9mm to 0.5mm, "cylinders", "buds", "reverse cone" burs are also used.

Sometimes large cutters are also needed.

With the help of "balls" we begin to work out the muzzle.

Then we start cutting everything else.

Emphasizing the main lines

And we start working on the details.

After about two weeks, the cat is almost ready, there remains a slight study!

On the last day of work, we begin the final stage, make inlay, first insert the eyes, for this we make such a blank from ebony.

For buttons, we sharpen such a blank right in the tip.

Stitch to button size.

And we proceed to the inlay itself, this is a very responsible job, especially the eyes, a slight curvature will be immediately visible if you make a mistake.

We put our eyes in, the spectacle is not for the faint of heart)))

The eyes are inserted.

Now let's start sanding.

To do this, we use abrasive rubber wheels of various grain sizes. They need to work at low speeds of the drill, otherwise the bone will burn.

"Riveting" align hard-to-reach places.

And we start polishing the work, this is the final stage of work. An extractor hood is also connected to the machine.

We put our company logo.

Work is ready! In height, it turned out to be 8.5 cm, and only 225 grams remained from a workpiece weighing 950 grams, such is the consumption of material!

MK-3 brooch "Cheshire cat" from Irina Shcherbakova

Hello!

To work on the brooch we need:
A printed image of the character at the desired scale.
Felting wool (gray, white, black, turquoise)
Needles (#36, #38, #40)
Plastic (white, black)
Acrylic paints
Brooch attachment
Glue "Moment"
Transparent epoxy
Scissors
Pastel for toning

From black plastic we sculpt a flat shape that repeats the smile of the Cheshire cat, referring to the printed image. This is perhaps the most crucial moment, because Cheshire can disappear completely, leaving only a smile. ("I saw cats without a smile, but a smile without a cat! .." - Alice's remark in the Soviet animated film adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book "Alice in Wonderland"). We stick white plastic teeth on the resulting shape, checking the location and size of each tooth with a sketch. Then we bake the smile in the oven at the temperature indicated on the packaging of the plastic. Next, we dump from the wool a flat ellipse about 1 cm thick in the center, which will serve as the basis for the head.

We increase the volume of the middle part, where the mouth will be located, and glue the smile that has already been heat-treated.

Photo 2

We also fashion the shape of an eye and a nose from black plastic, burn it in the oven (simultaneously with a smile), paint it with acrylic paints, repeating the pattern. For volume, we need to cover the eyes with epoxy. We mix the resin components until a homogeneous mass, carefully so that bubbles do not form and drip on the eye.

Photo 3

Next, we increase the volume of the cat's muzzle with the help of woolen pads, pre-formed on the sponge. It is better to dump two “mirror” linings on the sponge at once. Glue the finished nose in place.

Photo 4

We increase the chin and eye sockets.

Photo 5

Glue ready-made eyes onto the prepared (tightly matted) eye sockets. From above we build up eyebrows with wool in accordance with the sketch.

Photo 6

We pass to the most interesting - toning. For this we need white, black and turquoise wool. Each small piece that clings to the muzzle to give a light or dark shade, first falls on the sponge into a small cloud. This is done so that the wool fibers do not lie on the already felted surface separately along the wool.

Photo 7

Separately, on the sponge we dump triangles - ears, leaving free wool for sticking to the head. We attach the ears to the head, not forgetting to check the sketch.

Photo 8

In order to fluff the muzzle from below, on the reverse side we attach strands of turquoise wool. On top of the turquoise strands, we roll the gray ones, thereby completely closing the turquoise ones from the wrong side. Then we cut the strands to the desired length with scissors.

Photo 9

Add white inserts to the ears. We make a frame of black wool for a smile.
