Fur toy-mouse for a cat. The best do-it-yourself toy for a kitten

Playful, like a kitten - this is what they say about a restless child who frolics literally to the point of falling. This comparison is not accidental - small domestic predators are distinguished by a special passion for mobile and intellectual fun. For a kitten, play is a preparation for adulthood, useful interaction with the owner, physical training. And for a person - the pleasure of communicating with a pet and emotional release. In addition, cat games give an impetus to creativity. There is hardly a cat owner who has not made at least one toy for his pet.

What is a cat's life? A game!

If cats knew how to read, they would have made the phrase of the great Shakespeare their motto. Furry owners know that if a pet refuses to play, then something is wrong with his health. A well-fed cat in good health will never ignore advances. At this moment, instinct awakens in a small predator. And you can’t argue against nature: to track down prey, lie in wait for it, catch up and grab it - such behavior is typical for a real hunter.

There are no kittens that don't like to play

If the kitten is deprived of games, he will hone his skills on your furniture, wires and other surrounding objects. If you don't want destruction, play with it. Joint fun brings people and pets together. If there is no emotional connection, a harmful cat can grow up that shits in the master's shoes.

It is important not to tire the baby: it is better to devote 10-15 minutes to mobile entertainment several times a day than half an hour or an hour in a row. The older the kitten gets, the longer it will be able to hunt for toy mice and other prey.

Novice cat breeders sometimes complain that a healthy pet does not want to play with them. Perhaps they are too assertive and scare the kitten or prevent him from taking the initiative. It must be remembered that this is a small hunter, and the owner only manages his prey. Therefore, let the cat dominate during the game, succumb to him if he grabs a toy.

Kittens should be played little by little, but several times a day

Adult cats need games just as much as toddlers. So they get a charge of vivacity, physical activity, dump aggression. If the games are not enough, your slender predator will become lazy, fat, and possibly sick.

After eating, the cat is not up to games. Jumping and running can lead to digestive problems. Let the beast rest for two hours. And then it's time to play.

Items of clothing you are wearing, such as a belt or belt, must not be used as toys. Having got used to this, the cat may rush when you are not at all ready to play. Hands or feet should not be improvised prey either. This will lead to scratches and bites. A cat trained to hunt for its owner's legs can cause serious damage to human health.

Household items should not be cat toys

Kitten toys

Quality toys for kittens are not necessary to buy. You will need a lot of them, but they are not cheap. It is better to make useful entertainment from improvised materials with your own hands. You don’t need special skills for this, just imagination and understanding of the animal character is enough.

The kitten will not take care of his toys, even the most expensive ones will quickly become worthless

Cat toys, factory-made or homemade, must meet certain requirements:

Security should be discussed separately. Pet toy manufacturers may use toxic materials and paints. Such goods are not checked as carefully as children's. Self-made toys are safer. Most likely, you will make them from old clothes or household items. There are tips on the Internet for decorating homemade toys with beads, beads, sequins and more. You don't have to follow them. The toy will acquire a glamorous sheen, but it will become unsafe for your pet. Small parts are easy to bite off, which means they will certainly end up in the cat's stomach. Be careful with bags: only paper ones are suitable for cats. Plastic bags are dangerous, they can entangle the animal and suffocate. And very often it is advised to pack balls, balls or balls for the game in foil. As if it would extend the life of the toy. No need to check. A cat can swallow pieces of foil, and this is a threat to health and life. Of course, it happens that swallowed comes out naturally. But often the foil damages the walls of the stomach or intestines, internal bleeding may begin. Unfortunately, the author of these lines happened to see the consequences of this. The cat ate Christmas tree tinsel, and between New Year and Christmas, veterinary clinics did not work. Vomiting, bloody diarrhea and death. Now foil decorations are banned in our house.

Another argument in favor of homemade toys: for kittens, the high cost of the thing or its novelty does not matter. An expensive gift, perhaps at first your pupil will like it, and after a day or two he will return to his favorite shabby mice from an old sock or a box with slots. It is inexplicable, but it is noticed that the toys that the owner himself made are especially fond of his pets.

The kitten will play well with an ordinary cloth if it moves.

Interactive toys for the development of intelligence

Kittens are very curious. They like to solve intellectual problems, they are interested in what is hidden in the box, who is hiding in the pipe, how to get a toy or treat through a small hole. To develop your pet's intelligence, you can make game simulators from the simplest items.

Boxes with slots imitating manholes and minks develop intelligence in kittens

You will need:

  • boxes and paper bags of various sizes,
  • pieces of plastic pipes,
  • toilet paper rolls,
  • twine,
  • rubber,
  • scotch,
  • balloons,
  • balls,
  • cases from kinder surprise,
  • dry cat food

Here are a few ways to make an interesting toy out of this:

  1. In a box (cardboard or wooden), cut a few holes on different sides so that only the cat's paw enters. Put balls or balls inside, they should not roll out. You can pierce the balls or eggs from the kinder, thread the twine into them and fix it in the wall of the box so that the toy remains inside. When you assemble the structure, secure the cover with tape or glue. Kittens love to explore the contents of the secret box.

Cats are very busy openings they can't get through.

  2. A similar toy can be made from a plastic container. Cut holes only in the lid, then it is convenient to place smaller items inside, including cat food. If you don't want to cut the container, use a square plastic bottle.

Food at the bottom of the box will make the cat show dexterity

  3. From knees for a water pipe, you can assemble a more massive game structure that will last a long time.

This toy will last for years.

  4. Connect several toilet paper or towel rolls with tape. Inside some, hang small bait toys: skeins of yarn, balls, feathers.

Toilet paper rolls are another imitation of minks where prey can hide

  5. Place the bushings vertically in a suitable box so that they do not fall out. Pour a little food on the bottom of each to make the pet more interesting.
  6. Cut off the bottoms of paper bags and connect them in the form of a tunnel. Make windows in the walls. The kitten will love sneaking and hiding in the paper tube.

If the mink is large, the cat is ready to hide itself

  7. A similar structure can be built from boxes. It is necessary to make holes of different sizes in them in order to overcome the obstacle was more entertaining, and it is better to connect parts of the tunnel not in a straight line, but with turns and forks.

From the boxes you can make a branched labyrinth

  8. Another option is to cut holes for the kitten inside identical boxes, then combine them and fasten them with glue or tape. Lids are not needed. Your pet will be able to move through the maze from below or jump over walls from above. Boxes can be used to hide treats or small toys.

A few boxes will be a good excuse to play hide and seek.

Boxes and bags are great building materials for cat play. To please furry pets, the owners build whole box castles with towers and balconies.

You can make amazing things from ordinary containers that your cat will appreciate.

If there is not enough imagination for such masterpieces or needlework is not your forte, just give the cat a package or an empty box. He himself will dispose of this useful thing: he will play hide and seek with you, or maybe he will pack it as the best gift.

If you have no time, give the kitten an empty bag

teasers

Toys on a string or a stick help the kitten to show hunting talents. Usually they are made in the form of mice, fish, pompons or panicles. Waste materials are used: the remnants of yarn, old socks and gloves, corks, and so on.

A ball of yarn is the oldest cat toy

A small predator will not stand on ceremony with prey. Tenacious claws will grab it, and only shreds will fly. Therefore, there should be a lot of teasing toys. And you should not chase beauty, it is better to take care of strength and safety.

Feather toys are less durable than cloth or yarn toys.

For example, teasers made from real feathers look good, but they will last for 2-3 games. And a kitten that has chewed such a toy may begin to vomit. Buttons, beads, and other decorations sewn onto fish mice are likely to be chewed off and swallowed by your pet. There is little good in this either.

There are several simple options for making hunting toys for cats:

  1. If you know how to knit, please the cat with bright balls, mice or yarn fish.

Connected mice - a great gift for a kitten

  2. The same toys can be sewn from dense fabric; fleece, felt, faux suede, fur or drape are best suited for this purpose. Anyone can make a mouse:
  3. Play with a kitten with a traditional ball, you just need to fix the thread. Pass it several times around the coils and tie.

The thread on the ball must be fixed so that it does not unfold

  4. Panicles or pompoms can be made from knitted or fleece fabric. Cut the strips, wind them with a cord in the middle several times and tie tightly.

For the manufacture of such fabric toys, old clothes are suitable.

  5. From the remnants of the yarn, fluffy pompoms or tassels will also turn out.

Use a fork to make small pom poms.

  6. On wooden corks from wine bottles, you can put on soft fabric covers in the form of a candy wrapper.

The cat will play with a regular cork, but he will like the soft one more

  7. An octopus or other creature that you come up with will come out of an old glove. Unknown little animals can also be created from a sock that was left without a pair.

Fantasy will tell you how to turn unnecessary things into toys

So, you have made the main part of the teaser toy for the kitten. Now you need to decide how you will play with your pet. There are three options:

The traditional version with a rope is good because you can tease the animal, chase it until you get bored, and then hang the entertainment on a door handle or a special bracket. Then the kitten will play on its own when it gets in the mood.

Such a simulator will keep the cats in good shape

A teaser on a stick or a fishing rod is more suitable for hosted games. But you can find ways for the cat to have fun. For example, do not use hard wood, but flexible materials: soft plastic tubes or metal springs, thick rubber. Such a toy can be fixed on a stand, and when the kitten attacks, it will bounce, as if resisting. This will please the little predator.

The bouncing ball is interesting to catch

rattles

Sounding toys will occupy the kitten for a long time, because he will be curious about who is making noise there. This means that the cat will roll the rattle, throw it up and be sure to try it on the tooth.

Kittens love balls, but if something rattles inside, it will be even more fun

To make thundering entertainment, you will need an empty rounded plastic box, it’s good if the lid from it is threaded, as well as beads, balls or small bells. Making a rattle for a kitten is as easy as shelling pears: put small items in the container and close the lid tightly. If it does not screw on, fix it with tape or tape. The perfect rattles are made from Kinder Surprise cases. But they quickly roll under furniture, and it is difficult to get a small toy out of there. To reduce the "rolling" ability, connect 2-3 eggs from kinders together. It will turn out a small bunch, similar to sausages, it will not roll away.

Connect several cases from kinder surprises so that they do not roll away

Tooth combs

Kittens, like human babies, have itchy teeth. If the owners did not give the beast something pleasant to chew on, he will find it himself. And then say goodbye to wires, shoes and other necessary things. In order not to be painfully sorry for the property eaten, provide the cat with toys for scratching his teeth. They can be purchased at the pet store. Children's rubber toys and rings are also suitable, but they will not always be of interest to a mustachioed pet. But chewing treats for small dogs: pig ears, cured meat and something like that - kittens love it very much.

A kitten should always have something to scratch their teeth.

You can make an edible toy yourself. Buy beef tendons, cut into suitable pieces and dry in the freezer. It is necessary to hold them there for 3-4 days, without putting them in a bag. Then defrost the workpiece and let the kitten scratch its teeth. He can completely chew on such a toy.

It's not uncommon for cat owners to give their pets dog treats to help them scratch their teeth.

The kitten will love the raw chicken leg. But so that the animal would not get hurt, I first cut off the claws from it, and at first I gave only a “brush” without a large bone. By the way, a very small kitten cannot chew it. But for an adult animal, it is quite tough. But you have to be careful - tubular bones are dangerous. Their fragments can injure the stomach and intestines. When the cat has had enough of the chicken leg, I withdraw it, but the beef tendons are a long-lasting delicacy. I leave them in business until they completely lose their presentation and begin to smell unpleasant.

A chew toy can be made from raw sinew

adult animal toys

The owner who does not play with his cat is bad. As already mentioned, the game for a domestic predator is the most important part of a fulfilling life. Of course, an adult solid cat does not need as much running and jumping as a young creature. However, without regular active leisure, the beast quickly loses its shape. You do not want your pet to become lazy, heavy and get into the book of records as the fattest cat.

This is the fattest cat in Mexico, he no longer cares about games

Entertainment for big cats is no different: use the same ideas of teasers, puzzles, rattles and scratchers that have already been worked out for a kitten. But don't forget to add something new that your pet hasn't played with yet. Old toys can be boring, and the unknown awakens curiosity.

A healthy cat is always ready to play

But sometimes it happens that a pause is made in the games, and the cat has lost the habit of hunting habits. He does not respond to old tested mice, feather dusters, pompoms and other exciting objects. At the same time, you know for sure that the animal is healthy. So, you have to teach him to play again.

The game increases the mood of the cat

A large toy will help solve the problem. Give your cat a soft faux fur friend. It is better if the gift will copy a real, not a cartoon animal. That is, a cat, dog, rabbit or someone else in full size. To make friendship immediately, try rubbing catnip (catnip) on the toy or spraying it with an infusion of this herb. Let the cat get used to a new friend, and then make him come to life. Let him jump, run and attack with your help.

An adult cat will frolic like a kitten if you manage to stir it up

Catnip, or catnip, has an exciting effect on animals, but not as much as valerian. The substance nepetalactone, which the plant contains, irritates the nervous system of cats. But, as scientists assure, catnip does not give an addictive effect and does not harm health. And about 30% of cats do not react to it at all. Indifferent to him and kittens under the age of six months.

Catnip excites cats, but not as much as valerian

It is no coincidence that toys for cats are made in the form of mice, fish and birds. Little hunters instinctively react to the silhouette of prey. If they are allowed to choose, they will prefer toys that are as similar as possible to real living beings. When our kitten Timon was allowed to walk around the house, he chose a ferret from IKEA from a variety of soft toys. It turned out to be not quite in size for him, but satisfied Tim gladly dragged a large prey to his house.

Of all the toys, the cat will prefer the one that is most similar to a real animal.

If there are no soft toys or it is a pity to give them to be torn to pieces, make a traditional fish mouse for an adult and slightly lazy cat. And put some dry catnip in the stuffing.

Remember to please your pet with boxes and paper bags from time to time. Just leave them in plain sight. He will figure out how to deal with them.

Adult cats, like babies, love tunnels, bags and boxes.

A radical way to cheer up a bored cat is to get him a real, not a toy friend. An aquarium with a fish is the simplest. He, of course, will interest the beast, but he can set up a passive pet in a contemplative mood. But one more kitten in the house will definitely add games, fun and movement to the measured life of a fluffy lazy person.

For cats, play is not entertainment, but a vital necessity. Predators must lie in wait and catch up with prey, for this they have keen eyes, strong muscles, sharp claws and teeth. Domestic cats are equipped with this formidable arsenal, but they live on everything ready, surrounded by care and comfort. Only the game allows them to show their hunting essence, throw out the accumulated energy, give a load to the body and mind. If you regularly forget to play with your pet, don't be surprised if he ruins furniture and wallpaper, behaves defiantly, or, on the contrary, becomes completely indifferent and passive. Cat games are also useful for the owner: while having fun with his pet, he gets a lot of positive emotions, develops dexterity and speed of reaction, otherwise you can fall under a hot clawed paw.

In the article, I will consider the best options for hand-made toys and analyze detailed instructions that make it easy to build soft, paper and even interactive fun for little kittens with your own hands from improvised means.

What toys can be made for kittens with your own hands and the best options made at home

To create homemade toys for a cat or a cat, it is absolutely not necessary to complete special courses and have an innate talent for needlework. It is enough just to allocate a little free time and stock up on useful material.

Focus on rustling, fur or just bright things that attract the cat.

Cardboard boxes. The main favorite of the cat family. Here you don’t even need to make special efforts, because the box in its original form already acts like a magnet. However, adding slots and building a house from several cardboard samples will tighten the pet even more.

Wine corks. Wood is a natural material that guarantees the safety of a kitten. Light corks race across the floor with pleasure, and their size excludes the possibility of swallowing.

Thread spools. Throw the reel on the floor and watch the unbridled fun. Be sure to get rid of the threads.

Swallowed filaments interfere with bowel function and may cause the animal to vomit.

Packages. Rustling allows you to occupy a fluffy pet for a long time at minimal cost. Don't give your kitten plastic bags. He may suffocate while playing. Choose paper counterparts.

Nylon tights. Surprisingly, even from old tights with a hole you can make a fascinating little thing. It is enough to form a soft ball by making a few knots.

Packing from under shoe covers or from Kinder. Fill the case with rumble grits or catnip. This is the best toy for cats.

Mirror surface and sun rays. Sunny bunny is the simplest, but no less exciting fun for kittens.

Sun Bunny is a great game for a kitten

Pompon. Use thick woolen threads, felt or fur. Add a string to the resulting pompom and tie it to any object.

Table tennis ball. Choose durable plastic to avoid injury to the kitten's esophagus.

Cones and feathers. Don't forget to capture a piece of nature while walking.

The kitten will happily nibble on the bump and try to catch the flying feather.

Pencils. As a rule, they are found in any home. A kitten can easily be taught the “fetch” command, because playing with a wooden stick brings him pleasure. Be sure to get rid of sharp ends that can injure your pet.

How to make a toy for a cat from improvised means

The main ideas have already been considered, it remains to figure out the step-by-step instructions. Check out the suggested options and try to create toys at home. All of them can be done fairly quickly.

To create a pom pom you will need:

  • bright strips of fabric of equal length;
  • dense thread;
  • scissors.

Having prepared the necessary material:

  1. Lay the pieces on top of each other and fold in half.
  2. Tie the center tightly.
  3. Cut the strips at the folds and straighten the ends.
  4. Give the resulting toy to be torn to pieces or add a tying rope for joint games.

A budget alternative to interactive toys

Such toys wonderfully free the owner from an overly annoying kitten. The pet is independently involved in the game and does not need the presence of another participant.

The intricate labyrinths offered in stores hit your pocket hard, and you won’t be able to find out for sure about the reaction of a mustachioed friend.

For a fascinating labyrinth with secrets you will need:

  • scissors;
  • small balls, feathers or treats;
  • cardboard box;
  • scotch.

Everything ingenious is simple:

  1. Make small holes in the box to fit the cat's paw. A couple on the sides will be enough, and on top it is worth increasing the amount by 3 or 4 times.
  2. Carefully tape the inside surfaces and edges with tape to avoid folding the box during play.
  3. Put everything that might interest the kitten into the resulting holes.

The pet will definitely appreciate the provided design and will happily try to catch goodies, chasing hidden objects along the way.

Sometimes even ordinary plumbing comes into play. For the next version of the container with secrets, use:

  • drill;
  • 4 plastic elbows.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Connect the water pipes to form a closed circle.
  2. Make a few holes with a drill, passing only the cat's paw.
  3. Finish the edges and place some rattling toys.

origami mouse

For such a craft, a simple paper sheet with equal sides is enough. Both adults and children can make it. Creating a paper mouse is really addictive and develops motor skills:

  1. Fold the sheet diagonally and return to its original position.
  2. Bend each of the sides of the square towards the resulting fold.
  3. Turn the resulting figure over and bend it in half, connecting the upper tip to the lower one. Return to starting position.
  4. Bend the top corner down, and then bend it in the opposite direction, slightly moving beyond the resulting triangle.
  5. Fold opposite corners, aligning with the level of the fold, and go a little beyond the diagonal. Correctly folded corners will overlap each other.
  6. Expand the resulting figure to the state from point 2.
  7. Focus on the resulting folds, folding the corners inside the figure.
  8. Bend back the top of the figure, focusing on the bottom edge of the small triangle.
  9. Turn the figure over, fold the top layer over and fold in half along the diagonal line.
  10. Feel for the thickening inside the workpiece and bend the "mouse" in half, focusing on it.
  11. Returning everything to its original position, bend the future ponytail down along the resulting fold.
  12. Unbend the tail again and bend it inside the workpiece.
  13. Make the tail narrower by bending its halves inward.
  14. Carefully close the resulting tail and bend to the side.
  15. Turn the figure over and fold the tail in half again.
  16. Remove the lower tabs by bending them inward. Straighten your ears.
  17. Draw a muzzle.

In conclusion, I will repeat about the advantages of home toys, including:

  • safety;
  • budgeting;
  • availability.

Homemade toys are not only not inferior to store-bought ones, but they are significantly superior. Such things are made with care and love, so the success of the mustachioed scoundrel is guaranteed.

We bring to your attention toys for cats with their own hands. They will help your cat spend a couple of hours a day in the game. True, if you do not like noise, then place them where it will not interfere with you. Homemade toys from improvised means are a good opportunity to please and entertain your kitten or cats.

Pipe

So what is this design? Such a toy for cats belongs to the variant of educational toys, it is a closed tube with holes the size of a tennis ball. Inside are several of the same balls. The cat enjoys playing with them, rolling them and trying to fish them out of the pipe.

Making a toy

Four plastic sewer pipes are needed, more precisely, pipe corners with a diameter of about 20 cm, as well as a flexible plastic tube (cambric type) to secure the cut holes and ennoble them.

On the narrower edge of the pipe, wind two or three turns of electrical tape. Cut two holes in each corner. We connect the pipes, tightly fitting each other into a single structure.

On the cambric, we make an incision along and fit each hole, we get holes that are safe for the cat, into which you can climb with your paw and play.

You can also throw crumpled paper wrappers into the toy, tailed pets play with them with pleasure. True, you will have to collect garbage around the apartment more often. Such a toy for a cat can be bought ready-made in a store, but its cost will be more than 10 times more expensive than a handmade one.

Cat and mouse - game under the sofa

Cats love to play - everyone knows that. DIY cat toys are a good idea. One of their favorite games is to drive a ping pong ball under the sofa and try to fish it out from any angle. So the idea arose - why not - a cat and a mouse (playing under the sofa).

The question arose in only one thing - how could it be returned from under the sofa. After all, the balls roll very far and in the end are lost. There was another question: to make your own, which clings to the fabric with its claws during the game (and, accordingly, spoils the sofa itself).

A mouse toy and a return mechanism were taken as a running mouse. The return mechanism is a metal tape measure, you can buy it for 100 rubles. at any newsstand. Do-it-yourself interactive cat toys in pet stores cost the same as toys for children (a lot). We will do no worse.

It was decided to make his own sofa for the cat. A piece of chipboard was taken as a sofa, knocked down in the form of the letter P.

It remains only to cover it with carpeting.
In the form of a holder, a cardboard cylinder from toilet paper is taken.

The mouse pulled up from under the "sofa" comes back, which makes the cat pull it out from under the sofa over and over again.

Here is the finished toy - a cat and a mouse under the sofa. Most importantly, it can also serve as a scratching post for your cat.

Pet owners should remember that cats need attention and care. Original and exciting mouse toys can please any cat. you can do it yourself from improvised materials. Moreover, if you choose colorful and bright materials, then such toys will be able to overcome the apathetic mood of even the most boring and clumsy cat. After all, if the cat is bored, and at the same time she is an active lady, then she will strive to bite you once again on the arm or leg, and run around the whole apartment. Such toys will help to solve the problem of boredom for a long time.

At the same time, it is completely useless to purchase expensive toys, as practice shows, most often expensive toys are enough for only two or three days. Therefore, you can make many similar toys, diversifying them with your imagination.

For work you will need the following materials:

  1. eye beads
  2. pattern
  3. cotton wool or synthetic winterizer
  4. the fabric is varied, preferably bright, it can be cotton, wool and the like
  5. needle
  6. threads
  7. laces
  8. scissors

Cut out a pattern from a piece of fabric.

To begin with, you should cut out one side part, and therefore one lower part. The fabric can be chosen in different colors and textures, so the sidewall can be one color and the bottom another. Then we can turn the template over and cut out the rest of the pieces.

For the ponytail, we need to outline a rectangle on the fabric measuring 2.5x10 cm and cut it out, you can also use a simple lace for the ponytail.

Now you need to make the ears, cut them out of the fabric and apply two parts for the ears to each other with the wrong side.

If the tail is made of fabric, in this case, you need to fold the rectangle in half in length and fasten it with a seam, while leaving an allowance of 5 mm. The ends of the strip should not be stitched to turn the tail out. Now you can start stitching all the details for the mouse body. We apply the parts, to each other and sew, do not forget that you need to fold the front sides, with allowances of 5 mm, then leave a hole on the back so that you can then. We twist and stuff the workpiece with synthetic winterizer, insert the tail into the hole, sew everything tightly with a hidden seam and tie the tip of the tail with a knot.

We take the ears, we fold the details for them in half and sew them to the body with small stitches. It is recommended to make the eyes with a single stitch, but beads can also be sewn on, however, it is worth remembering that these are small details and they must be sewn securely, if you are not sure, then just make a lower stitch. Now the toy - the mouse is ready.

Simple DIY cat toys are a good idea. In order to please and entertain a domestic cat or cat, it is not necessary to spend money, we will show you how to make a heart-shaped mouse stuffed with catnip and other toys from available materials for your pet. In order for your cat not to get bored and not spoil the home environment, make some toys for him with your own hands.

A little about the grass catnip (catnip)

Why do most cats and cats love catnip grass so much? Veterinarians say that catnip is a feline stress cure. Now many products are produced for cats using this plant: various sticks, balls, toys. There are even drops that are dripped onto the scratching post - this is how the cat gets used to sharpening its claws and not spoiling the furniture.

If the cat has no appetite, catnip is recommended as a food supplement. Add a pinch of dried or fresh herbs. Catnip is also an antihelminthic. Catnip is sold at any pet store, you can plant it at home, in a pot. At the same time, you need to make sure that the cat does not eat it all at once, but there is no doubt that he will like it.

On the video: why cats love catnip.

Mouse-heart for a cat - master class

From any piece of fabric, leather, suede, you can make such a heart-mouse for a cat. This toy can be stuffed with various “fillings” – you can take dry catnip, chamomile, couch grass, barley, oats. You can not take plants that are poisonous to a cat: dope, wormwood, hogweed, henbane, poppy. If you fill the mouse with fresh grass, collect it away from the tracks, in a clean area, and be sure to wash it in water and then dry it with a napkin.

So, we decided on the filling, it remains only to sew the mouse itself. You can sew a few mice for your pet and stuff them with different herbs - then you can determine exactly what attracts your cat or cat more. We offer you our master class on sewing a mouse step by step.

For work you will need:

  1. Fabric (small pieces).
  2. Grass.
  3. Sample.
  4. Needle, scissors, thread.
  5. Stick or pencil for stuffing the “mouse”.
  6. Tailor pins.
  7. Rope.
  8. Thick needle.

We print or draw by hand a pattern of a toy. The dotted line indicates the line along which we will sew 2 parts. Two points - the place that we skip - we will turn the toy through it.

Fold the 2 mouse parts right sides inward. We pin the pattern with pins.

Trim off excess fabric.

We cut a piece of rope equal to 16 cm. We need to insert the rope into the center of the heart so that it protrudes 1 cm.

We insert a piece of rope inside the two parts of the toy.

We look: we will sew on the wrong side, we have already inserted the “tail” of the mouse. Do not forget to leave an unsewn piece for turning the toy inside out.

Sew 2 pieces together and turned right side out. Through the unstitched area we fill the toy with chopped grass, it is more convenient to do this through a funnel.

We tamp the grass with a stick or pencil tighter, let the mouse be plump.

Sew up the remaining hole. We take a thick needle and thread a rope into the eye. This will be the mouse's whisker.

Cats often find toys on their own. And if the pet does not find anything, its tail will be great fun. Cats are solitary hunters by nature, so they play with anything that moves. How to make toys for cats with your own hands? You can make a toy for your pet out of almost nothing.

Decide what your pet loves. After carefully observing the cat for several days, paying attention to how she spends the active phase of her time, what objects attract her, what actions increase activity, you can understand what and how to make a toy for a cat with your own hands.

Every cat loves boxes. She climbs inside, sits in ambush, closely watching those passing by. Cardboard boxes are a good and easy material for making toys. How easy is it to make toys for cats with your own hands out of cardboard? Everything is very simple:

This is how a toy for a cat turned out in such a simple way. You can still do it out of the box.

Using physiology

Like any nocturnal hunter, a cat, in addition to vision, uses smell and hearing. That's just the pet's good hearing and you need to use it to create toys. For this, either rustling objects are suitable: bags, newspapers, wrapping paper, foil. Or hollow objects with small filling: a plastic bottle with coins, a kinder surprise egg. A little ingenuity and as a result: the whole apartment is a do-it-yourself playground for cats.

Various fun

And how many fun you can think of with a mirror. How to make a toy for a kitten using this household item? Little kittens are very curious. After all, I wonder where the cat from the mirror goes, they like to play with their image. Let's put a mirror in front of the kitten, and he is busy with interesting work. Cats of all ages love chasing sunbeams.

On a bright sunny day, playing with a small mirror, you can give pleasure not only to your pet, but also to yourself. Instead of a mirror, you can use a laser pointer. We direct the beam to the floor and the laser toy for cats is ready.

Care must be taken, the cat's eyes are very sensitive, and the laser in the pointer is powerful and can damage the retina.

You can and should use small objects that can roll on the floor: pencils, wine corks, small balls, ping-pong balls. Familiar and everyday objects can greatly interest a cat and give her a lot of pleasure from a quick and successful hunt. True, you need to be prepared to look for all this around the house.

Do not forget about the "classic of the genre", a ball of thread. Any cat will quickly roll away balls from a gaping hostess. You can use this and make a wonderful toy. Wind up unnecessary threads, fasten the ball, piercing several times with a needle and thread on each side. Leave 30 centimeters of thread so that you can hang the ball.

Cat and mouse is a favorite game of cats, and owners sometimes play it with pleasure. It is not difficult to figure out how to make a toy in the form of a mouse for a cat. The mouse does not have to be gray, eared and with a tail. Take 2 pieces of fabric measuring 10x10, sew, leaving one side unsewn. We turn the stitched blank and stuff it with scraps of fabric, yarn, pieces of foam rubber. You can add dried mint.

We sew the remaining side, attaching a thread of the desired length. Pieces of fur, flannel or drape are suitable for toys. Thin fabric will quickly tear from the claws of the hunter. A similar toy can be made by wrapping a skein of yarn in foil or wrapping a small plastic object with a layer of thread.

You can temporarily take the cat with a working TV or computer. Moving images on the screen, even if not a mouse, are interesting for a cat. The pet reacts to movements on the screen in the same way as in reality, if the mouse runs around the screen, it is prey for cats.

Adults are sometimes very lazy, and it is not proper to rush around the rooms with a ball, entertaining a cat. Laziness can push the creative process in the right direction. Let's make a rod. A one and a half meter straight branch or a plastic rod of similar length is suitable. You can use the knee from an old fishing rod. We attach a mouse, a ball or a bow to the rod with a thread and you can play with the cat without looking up from the TV.

Pet play area

All the previous fun in making is practically free, except that you have to bribe pencils or garbage bags.

Having spent quite a bit of money, you can make for your pet not just an interesting toy, but also a durable do-it-yourself play complex for a cat.

A very convenient material for such crafts are plumbing materials: sewer plastic pipes, corners, corrugated hoses. These products are light, durable and almost every man can easily handle them.

From birth, a little kitten is surrounded by his brothers and sisters. At first, they are all rather slow and awkward, but when they grow up, they become very active and inquisitive. First, they explore the whole house or apartment, and then they start playing - they run after each other, imitate a hunt or a fight, etc. But there comes a moment when each of the kittens goes to a new family, to new owners, where there is no longer anyone play around.

Toy for a kitten from a box and a ball

Making the next toy is much easier and does not require special skills or tools. All you need is a large cardboard box or part of it. Instructions are not needed here - after watching the video, the manufacturing principle becomes immediately clear. The only thing worth noting is the corners of the box. The fact is that they need to be bent so that the bottom is not even, but slightly convex in the center. Thanks to this, the ball (for example, from ping-pong) will not be hammered into the corner, but will constantly roll into the center. The kitten pushes him to the wall, and he back to the center. Nothing complicated, but the kitten is happy 🙂

Toy for kittens: let's play hide and seek?

This toy will be the most interesting for several kittens. What exactly for a few you will understand by reviewing the video. As in the previous case, the manufacture is very simple and does not require instructions. All you need is to take a cardboard box and cut a few holes in the bottom (or lid). The number of holes depends on the size of the box, and their size is such that a kitten can climb through. Note that the height of the box should be such that the kitten, standing on its hind legs, can push its head through the hole and get out. In general, watch the video:

Small toy from a shoe cover container

After visiting hospitals, an unnecessary container of shoe covers often remains. You can throw it in the trash, or you can make a toy for a kitten! Everything is done very simply and with our own hands: we pierce a small hole in the container lid with a sharp object (knife, scissors). We advance a lace through it (for example, from a boot 🙂) and tie a knot on the inside (such that the lace does not stretch). Inside the container we put a ringing ball, taken from the rattle. We close the container, and cut the lace to a length of 15-20 centimeters. For embellishment, you can draw a mouse face on the container with a felt-tip pen. Kitten toy is ready!

Video: kitten chasing a laser

The above active game with a kitten can also be organized using a laser or blowing bunnies with a mirror from the sun. Such a toy will be interesting and fun not only for your little pet, but also for you! How it all looks can be seen in the video below:

Active games for a kitten with your participation

Making a toy for a kitten with your own hands is, of course, very good, but besides this, you also need to play with the kitten yourself. Especially kittens like active games that imitate hunting. For such a game, it is enough to take a long cord or thread, tie some small toy to the tip (for example, a plush mouse or the one that we made from a shoe cover container according to the instructions above) and just put it on the floor. After that, quickly, little by little, straight, in a circle or in any way move the toy with the help of a thread. The kitten will chase her with incredible pleasure!
