Fleece socks. Socks-slippers made from leftover knitwear or unnecessary items

Well, in principle, you can use them instead of house slippers - especially if the fleece is thick, but I usually use them for their intended purpose, that is, as socks under hiking shoes, under hiking boots, sneakers, combat boots...
They really turn out to be cozy, warm and soft, this is such an economical option when you don’t want to spend money on expensive warm “breathable socks”, like my husband’s, for example (600 rubles for a pair of socks - no, I’m sorry). In principle, they wear differently, depending on the neatness of the internal seams and the quality of the fleece, but for example, my feet don’t sweat in them at all and nothing rubs anywhere. I don’t like wool socks - they are itchy, take longer to dry and are heavier (which is a very important factor when packing a backpack - 10 grams here, 10 grams there, that’s an extra kilo), but these are soft, skin-friendly, quick-drying and much lighter.
The idea of these wonderful, from my point of view, things belonged to a certain girl-hiker, unfortunately unknown to me, with whom my husband communicated at one time. She explained to him how this thing is sewn and provided him with patterns, and now I am happy to use the fruits of someone else’s labor.
The sock is sewn from two parts with literally two seams. It’s very quick and cool, and once it wears out, you don’t mind throwing it away.
Now I'll try to insert a diagram (sorry, crooked;))
This is part 1 - foot

and this is part 2 - from the heel and above

We sew the curved part of part 1 to the curve (the crooked part :)) of part two, then fold the resulting nonsense in half and use a single seam to connect the whole thing from the toe (this is where the top double squiggle is :)) to the top part (this is where on the second part of the part it’s supposed to be straight, but in the picture it’s just a little less crooked). We wear, of course, with this long seam up and not from the side of the foot :) however, it’s clear there.
Once again I apologize for the confusion of the presentation.

  • To avoid allergic reactions, use a respirator when working with fur.
  • After cutting out the parts, lay a stabilizing stitch along their perimeter to prevent the material from separating into the fur and the base.
  • We sew the fur with a regular stitch stitch strictly in the direction of the pile, with the seam facing outwards. You can use a butt seam. This seam is almost invisible from the front side. In addition, it does not create additional thickness.

House boots from an old warm item are sewn like this:
1. First, you should test the sweater sleeves to see if they are suitable for making socks. To do this, pull the sleeves over your legs. If the elastic band does not press, then everything is fine and you can continue.

2. The sleeves are cut off completely. Then you should cut it obliquely so that there is no accordion on the heel when you pull the future sock onto your foot. To do this, cut the sleeve at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The heel should be on the side where the seam is.
3. The sole is cut out. This is very easy to do if you have some kind of insole.
4. The sole is cut out from some part of the item.

5. Turn the stockings inside out and the sole should also be turned inside out. The stockings are sewn together with the bottom of the sock. It is better to start stitching from the heel.
6. Turn the resulting sock right side out. You should put it on and see where the excess fabric should be collected in the front. A fold of fabric is made at the front and stitched with thread.

7. A button of a suitable size is sewn to the ends of this seam.

8. Stylish indoor socks and boots are ready. You can make the sole from leatherette. To do this, an additional sole is sewn on top, which will be resistant to abrasion.

Why do we recommend making fleece socks? This is a warm, practical, comfortable thing that is suitable for walking in cold weather; such socks will be useful for fishermen and hunters. In addition, they can be used instead of slippers at home. If you have sensitive feet, you can sew fleece socks with the seams facing out. Fleece socks can be washed in a washing machine, they dry quickly and, thanks to the elasticity of the fabric, retain an attractive appearance for a long time.

Make a simple pattern. First you need to calculate the size. Let's do it simply - circle the leg while standing on the cardboard. If you sew for yourself, you need to ask another person to measure your leg. You must stand straight.

In order to sew your own socks we will need Sock pattern the right size and fabric. An old rolled up sweater will be used for socks, where the elastic from the neck and sleeves will be the elastic for the sock. This means we will try to cut it so that the elastic falls in the right place.

    Sock pattern

To ensure that the size of the sock fits, estimate the size using old socks.

We cut out two parts of each size, just make sure that our legs are different, which means that one cut sock should be a mirror image of the other.

These socks will keep you warm in the harshest winter.

For you, the easiest way to sew socks from an old sweater, without patterns. And so, we take a sweater and cut off its sleeves, cut it to the length that is needed for socks, plus five to seven centimeters. Now we put our sleeve on the leg, so that the elastic of the sleeve is at the bottom, on the sole. Now close the fingers and make a basting in a semicircle around the toes. Now we stitch it and cut off the excess. The top needs to be cut off evenly, folded, put an elastic band so that our socks don’t fall off, and stitched. That's all, our socks are ready.

By making our own socks from old knitwear or other fabrics, we can save a lot and, of course, show ourselves on the creative side - creating truly unique items of clothing. I offer you patterns that you can use to make socks like these:

Anyone can buy socks in a store, but I think it would be more interesting to sew them. Sewn socks that you sewed will be pleasant to wear, because you made them yourself.

Here's an example of blood sock:

You can also make a pattern like this:

You can sew socks from an old sweater. You can also use micro fleece as a fabric.

I especially like socks made from fleece. It turns out to be gentle, pleasant to the body, and most importantly warm and durable.

In order to sew socks, you first need to create a pattern. Since fleece stretches, you need to take one size smaller so that the socks do not stretch too much while wearing. The pattern details should look like this:

The length of this part depends on how high the socks you want to sew.

The length of the cuff is equal to the circumference of your leg (calf). The length of the heel also depends on the expected height of the toe.

We sew the parts together so that the point numbers in the parts match. First we sew the heel to the sole (1, 2, 5). Then we connect the upper part of the sock to the sole with the heel according to the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. We connect the cuff into a circle, bend it in half lengthwise and sew it to the sock.

Socks can not only be knitted, but also sewn. We always have time to buy, but creating something of our own is always interesting. In order to sew beautiful socks, you need not only a pattern, of course, but also fabric. It is best to choose a fabric that will both look good and be pleasant to the skin of your feet. An old fleece jacket, sweater, and trousers will do. You can take pieces of Polartek and so on.

There are a lot of patterns. They are all similar to each other, the only thing that can distinguish them from each other is the degree of complexity. I suggest a fairly easy option.

This pattern is suitable for sewing socks for men. Foot size from 42 to 44.

We place the pattern on the fabric and transfer the contours with chalk. Don't forget to add a little for allowances. Cut it out and now comes the hard part. You need to carefully sew all the details on a typewriter. You can also use an overlocker to prevent the fabric from fraying (for example, socks from an old knitted sweater need an overlocker). If you are sewing, for example, insulated fleece socks, then you can do without an overlock stitch.

And here is the finished result. Anatomically, these socks are very comfortable.
