A complete lesson on embroidery in carpet technique. Carpet embroidery: schemes, photos of finished works and step-by-step master classes Schemes for embroidery with a rug needle

Embroidery in carpet technique has its own characteristics, since it is not at all like other types of embroidery. Finished products are distinguished by their softness and similarity to a real carpet. It is used to create pillows, blankets, paintings, bedspreads, toys. Today we will consider carpet embroidery with a needle, describe the methods and technology for creating works.

Embroidery features

The considered embroidery has several varieties and methods.

  1. Embroidery-coloring. Embroidery consists in fixing short threads on a mesh base.
  2. The next type is different in that a special hook is used in the work. The main difference from other types is that you can embroider with a needle and crochet. Embroidery is characterized by the fastening of threads on the front side, which creates a fleecy pattern. The basis for embroidery can be mesh or burlap. It is often used to create paintings and panels or small rugs with a simple pattern.
  3. Making tapestries. It is widely believed that the creation of tapestry paintings is a very complex process. We hasten to please our needlewomen, this technique is comparable in complexity to conventional cross-stitch. True, the technique of tapestry embroidery has its own characteristics.

The work uses a special needle. We can say that this is a tube, the eye of which has a bevel. Due to the presence of a special retainer on the needle, the loops of threads are of the same length and thus form a uniform pattern. Like any kind of embroidery, this kind of embroidery is quite a painstaking task.

It is worth remembering that during the embroidery process, the needle must pierce the fabric, so for convenience it is recommended to use a frame or fingers.

Work must be done on a solid basis. It can be used as a grid, the cells of which are not too large. You can use a base made of threads.

Choosing the right scheme for the job is quite simple. You can search on the Internet or go to the store. In the latter, you can purchase a kit that has everything you need to work. But you can draw the patterns yourself, transfer them to the basis for embroidery and fill them with colored threads to your liking.

We embroider correctly

For embroidery, it is possible to use the remnants of yarn or thread that the needlewoman left from other projects.

The work is done on the wrong side of the base, and on the front you will get loops with a pile. Therefore, to facilitate the process, it is recommended to make color markings before starting work.

The base must be very well fixed and tensioned, since when piercing with a needle, the tightness of the tension is important.

The embroidery process must begin with "drawing" the outline of the image. Then you can fill in the space in the outline, make small details and you can start filling in the background. When working, the needle is held with the beveled edge up.

The seams in this technique are quite simple, their implementation is available even for beginners. Each detail of the picture is performed separately, you need to fill it in moving from the edge to the middle.

To simplify the embroidery process, you need to move from right to left while working, and keep the needle in a vertical position. This will help to ensure that the needle does not spoil the loops and does not pull them out. If done correctly and accurately, the pile will not need to be leveled.

Carpet painting

Here is a master class on tapestry embroidery. The process of creating such a picture is distinguished by the presence of a much larger number of colors in the work.

Most often, the tapestry is large, so it is better to use frames in the work. It is recommended to wash the base before work and only then insert it into the frame to prevent sagging of the fabric.

After that, the pattern must be transferred to the fabric. In order not to confuse the threads when working, you need to make a markup on the basis indicating the number of threads.

Stitches should be done as tightly as possible so that gaps do not turn out. To make the loops beautiful, the thread must be free when embroidering. Length is approximately 2 meters.

When changing the color of the threads, the thread with the previous color must be brought to the wrong side and cut off, and a new color should be threaded into the needle.

Periodically, you need to check the pile on the front side, if individual fibers are too long, they can be corrected with tweezers, and if they are short, then you need to slightly tighten them.

To prevent unraveling of the finished work, the seams must be secured. To do this, from the wrong side with a simple clerical glue, it is necessary to process the seams. The glue must be liquid, this will facilitate the processing and the base will remain soft, it can be bent. Let dry well. Then from the inside you need to iron.

It remains only to trim the villi on the front side with scissors and our tapestry is ready.

Video on the topic of the article

We offer you to watch a few videos on carpet embroidery.

The finished product in the technique of carpet embroidery is soft and looks like a rug. But do not assume that this technique is used exclusively for carpet products. With it, you can create a variety and unique paintings, capes, pillows.

Execution method

The first method is crochet. The ends are attached to the mesh base. Basically, this technique is used by needlewomen in North America. Such sewing is different from the initial craftsmanship. You can use not only a needle, but also a hook. Short threads are stretched and brought to the front. It is most convenient to work with burlap, it is great for creating creations with simple patterns.

Carpet style features

It does not require the mandatory presence of a special needle for sewing. It looks like a tube with a cut off eye, into which a thread is threaded. It is better to purchase it in a special store for needlework. Sewing with it is not an easy task. You also need to use a good hoop to stretch the canvas tightly. You can also use crochet. It's better to buy a ready-made set! Embroidery patterns can be purchased at a specialty store. And if you want to create a unique pattern, then you can use the Internet, where you can choose a scheme for every taste. Alternatively, draw the desired ornament yourself.

Making your own rug

This art has one significant advantage. You can use leftover threads. In the technique of tapestry, the picture is warm and soft to the touch. Such a product will become a real decoration of your life.

The first step is to purchase a pattern for embroidery. Do not forget that everything is done from the inside, and on the front there are fleecy loops. Divide into fragments, so it will be more convenient for you to distinguish the color scheme.

After careful preparation of everything necessary, we proceed to embroider along the contour of the pattern. Volumetric details are embroidered at the end. The needle is installed with the beveled side up. The length of the needles is determined by the thickness of the pile, which must be folded 2 times. For example, a pile with a length of 0.5 cm, then it should be 1 cm. The stitches are superimposed extremely simply and even beginner needlewomen can do it. We pierce the fabric with a needle, without raising it too high, so that the pile does not differ in length and in order to prevent the villi from blooming. Thus we move to the very end. This promotes accuracy.

Each fragment of the pattern is embroidered separately, starting from the edges and to the center of the image. The beveled side of the needle looks to the left. Try to do everything to the maximum in the same way, taking into account the dimensions, i.e. no more than 2 mm.

Carpet technique with thread pulling

the needle is located perpendicular to the plane of the canvas placed in the hoop;

- we place the thread located at the top of the needle behind the hand, and also make sure that knots do not form;

- pull it back until the tip is above the working material. Step back a little from the done seam, and pierce it again. Observe perpendicularity!

- over time, loops form on the front side of the fabric, which will soon become a pattern;

- after a few stitches have been made, it is necessary to cut the remaining end at a distance of 0.5 cm from the canvas. This must be done very carefully so as not to damage or stretch the tip, because. there is a possibility of disbanding the work.

Filament replacement

- when the tip of the working thread hides in the upper plane of the needle, make a few more stitches, press the final stitch with your finger and release the thread;

– cut the thread as close to the fabric as possible. To fix the tip, use textile glue;

Filling empty fragments

- we start with volumetric fragments, and then - small and straight details;

- we embroider the outline, and then we fill the inside with circular movements, or in a linear way. Methods are allowed to be combined;

- to make straight lines, use threading in several rows to create a clearer line.

The simplest crochet embroidery

We can get a rather interesting texture with the help of a hook. You can use a special one for knitting, but professional needlewomen use the one with a moving lock.

The thread must be cut into equal segments of approximately 5 cm each. We throw a hook pierced into the canvas with a piece of thread folded exactly in half, snap its lock and stretch it from the face of the canvas.

With the help of a hook, a strong knot comes out on the wrong side and arbitrary threads on the front. This method allows you to control the process itself. The surface is usually pleasant to the touch, fleecy and soft.

This one is perfect for beginners! Develops skills to work with a color palette and fabrics. Such a hobby will allow you not only to pass your free time, but also to create exclusive things that will perfectly fit into your interior.

Today, carpet technology is reviving at an unprecedented rate. Carpet embroidery owes such a rapid growth in its popularity to the increased demand for handicrafts in our time. And this is not at all surprising, because skillfully executed carpet embroidery, embodied in the original floor rug or fluffy sofa cushion, will decorate the interior, give it home comfort and individuality.

Carpet technique does not require special equipment or any lengthy training. A master class, video, drawings and patterns for carpet embroidery, recommendations will help you quickly master this amazing technique. For beginners, it is better to take a ready-made kit, which has everything you need for embroidery. To make a small rug with your own hands, you can use embroidery in carpet technology, but you can create not only a rug, but also pillows, bags and other products.

Let's take a closer look at what this embroidery carpet technique is.

There are two main types of embroidery in carpet technique:

  • looped. This is embroidery with carpet technique using a special needle for carpet weaving, when a pattern is created from a series of loops based on the selected pattern. A dense canvas is used as the basis for carpet embroidery. This technique is also called "non-woven tapestry";
  • nodular. It uses a special hook for carpet technology. Vinyl canvas is used as the basis for knotted carpet embroidery. Knots of short threads are tied on the weaves of the base, hence the name of the technique.

Now about each type of carpet technology in more detail.

Carpet technique: loop embroidery

This technique of embroidering carpets was used by our grandmothers. Huge carpets were embroidered on cold winter evenings. Then this technique remained forgotten a little, and now it is coming back to life again.

For work it will be necessary:

  • dense fabric;
  • yarn. Absolutely any yarn will do, but it all depends on what patterns will be chosen. It is advisable to take yarn of the same thickness and structure;
  • special needle for carpet embroidery;
  • pencil for drawing a pattern on the fabric;
  • scissors.

Choosing and drawing a picture

You can choose any patterns or patterns for embroidery in carpet technique that you like. Carpet embroidery will be carried out from the wrong side, so we will apply the contours of the pattern on it.

The fabric is not strongly stretched on the hoop, which is desirable to choose such a size so that it is possible to see the entire pattern. After the fabric is stretched, you can apply the pattern.

Special needle - the main working tool

Carpet technique by pulling involves the use of a special needle for carpet embroidery. Its tip is, as it were, cut off at an angle, and inside the needle and handle there is a hole where the thread will be pulled. On the cut side, there will be the front side of the needle, and the straight side, on which there is an eyelet for the thread, will be the back side.

For beginners, it is better to use an automatic needle, where the length of the needle is adjusted and, accordingly, the loops will be the same. As a rule, three interchangeable needles are included in the kit to easily match different thicknesses of yarn.

During carpet embroidery, the needle is held strictly with the front or side side in the direction of embroidery. But the direction of the embroidery itself does not matter at all, the main thing is that the direction of movement of the needle should be in the direction of the stitches.

Where does carpet embroidery begin?

After stretching the fabric on the hoop and applying the pattern according to the selected pattern, we proceed to embroidery.

It is very important to keep the needle perpendicular to the fabric. The thread that comes out of the top hole in the needle handle should follow your hand to avoid tangles and knots.

After watching the video with the master class, you can understand exactly how to thread the needle through the fabric.

After that, the needle gently rises above the surface of the tissue until its tip comes out to the surface. We retreat from the already finished stitch just a couple of millimeters and thread the needle into the fabric again. Here it is important to clearly follow the chosen pattern and monitor the position of the needle (strictly perpendicular).

After 5-6 stitches, the protruding tip of the thread, from which the work began, can be carefully trimmed so that it does not interfere. But this must be done very carefully, otherwise the whole embroidery will simply bloom.

In the course of work, stitches will form on the side where the carpet embroidery is going on (wrong side), and loops on the front side, which will create the pattern.

When the thread is over or you need to change the color

The thread ends, and its end has already disappeared in the handle of the needle. In this case, you need to do the following:

  • we make a few more stitches, after which we pull the thread out of the needle, firmly pressing the last stitch with your finger;
  • we cut the thread very close to the fabric, but so that the stitch does not bloom;
  • We fix the end of the thread with textile glue.

If you need to move to another section of embroidery, even next to it, you do not need to make a large stitch. We cut the thread and start a new section from the beginning.

Filling in areas of the drawing

It is best to start embroidery with large elements, then move on to small details and other elements of carpet coloring with threads.

We select one element, first we embroider its outline with a needle stitch by stitch, and then we begin to gradually fill the entire area, like a coloring book. To do this, you can use a circular direction of movement, or you can go with lines, you can also combine the technique of making stitches. On the video master class, you can take a closer look at the embroidery process.

When embroidering straight lines with a needle, you need to go through two rows of stitches to make the line more even and clear.

As you can see, embroidery with such carpet technique using a special needle contains absolutely no difficulties. To avoid difficulties while embroidering, take note of some recommendations:

The final stage

That's all, our carpet embroidery is ready, it remains only to put it in order.

Add a little shampoo to warm water and rinse the finished work in it. Strong detergents can adversely affect the threads.

After that, lay the product on a flat surface and leave to dry completely.

If during work the fabric is torn from the hoop, it is necessary to smooth it out a little with a slightly heated iron from the wrong side of the work.

Knot embroidery in carpet technique - master class

Now on sale there are whole sets for embroidery in carpet technique. Such a set is suitable for beginners, and will also be just a great gift for those who are fond of needlework. Carpet technique kits allow you to make an original rug, tapestry or pillow with your own hands. As a rule, the kits already include:

  • base fabric,
  • cut pieces of yarn of the required length, sorted by color;
  • special hook (but not always);
  • diagram.

It remains only to start embroidering as soon as possible.

But, such sets have one drawback - the high cost. You can save money if you buy canvas and yarn separately. In this case, it will be necessary to perform a number of preparatory work (cutting and selecting yarn colors, choosing and drawing a pattern on the base). Of course, this will take some time, but it is not so difficult to do it. Which way to choose is up to you to decide, just like the result, it will depend only on your imagination and diligence.

For work you will need:

  • a ready-made kit for embroidery in carpet technique or canvas with a large cell or stramin;
  • leftover yarn. Even the smallest balls will fit here. The yarn will need to be cut into strips up to 10 cm long, depending on what length of pile you want to get;
  • hook for carpet embroidery. It is fashionable to use a regular hook, but it is not very convenient. The hook, which is used in carpet technique, has a special shape that simplifies the process of tying a knot from a thread after it has been pulled through the canvas;
  • embroidery scheme. Here it will be possible to use absolutely any pattern for cross stitch, while the cell of the carpet canvas should be equated with the cell of the regular canvas. When calculating the number of cells, it should be noted that a couple of centimeters should be left at the edges for processing.

Preparing to embroider

First of all, choose the drawing you like, or you can come up with it yourself. It is desirable that the circuit does not contain too small elements, because they will be practically invisible.

As a basis for embroidery, you need to take a special mesh called stramin. It is sold both in needlework stores and in hardware stores. Stramin is a dense canvas with large cells, which is widely used for making tapestry (you can see how it looks in the video).

We draw the base into squares, with sides 10 by 10 cells.

The main tool for embroidering in carpet technique using the knotted method is a special curved hook, which can also be bought in needlework stores.

The yarn needs to be cut into segments from 3 to 10 cm, depending on what kind of pile the future rug should have. You can take absolutely any yarn. The best option is acrylic yarn of medium thread thickness.

Operating procedure

The work will be done on the wrong side of the work, on which the scheme is applied. Watch the video before you get started.

Let's get to work:

The result is a wonderful fluffy rug that is indistinguishable from a purchased Persian rug. You can choose absolutely any shape and size.

Other methods of embroidery in carpet technique

In addition to these basic carpet techniques, the carpet can be simply embroidered, just like tablecloths, shirts, towels, napkins, tapestries are embroidered.

Important points:

  1. For embroidery in carpet technique, special canvas needles are used, which are blunt at the tip and have a large eye;
  2. The thickness of the needle must match the thickness of the thread;
  3. Threads for carpet technology can be very diverse in thickness and characteristics: wool, silk, acrylic, etc.;
  4. The main rule when choosing threads: they should lie down in an even layer, filling the background;
  5. The thread tension when embroidering should be uniform.

Basic seams of carpet embroidery

Cross Stitch Long Cross Stitch Half Cross Stitch

Perhaps the most famous seam is the "cross". By the way, this seam is the basis for other seams in carpet technology.

First of all, in the direction from left to right, you need to perform a uniform row of stitches, like half a cross. The second half of the cross will be performed in the opposite direction in the same way.

The next type of carpet seam is the “elongated cross”. Pass the working thread at an angle through one vertical and two horizontal threads of the canvas. The order of work, in this case, is as follows: the working thread is laid in the direction of the seam from right to left, then it is covered with stitches in the indicated way in the direction from left to right, and after that comes the second row of stitches, but in the opposite direction.

When making a half-cross stitch, you need to choose a working thread slightly thinner than the warp thread. The working thread is drawn horizontally from right to left, and then stitches are laid over it in the opposite direction.

Oblique tapestry seam (second method method) Long bias tapestry stitch

" Oblique tapestry seam"Can be done in different ways:

  • an oblique stitch is made through two threads of canvas in width, and one in height, which passes between the other two horizontal threads, but without overlapping them;
  • stitches are laid obliquely through one vertical and one horizontal thread of the canvas, overlapping the first.

By the way, it is the tapestry stitch in various designs that is very similar to the old carpet embroidery.

A little advice: when sewing with a tapestry stitch on the hoop, the thread must be transferred to the front side from the wrong side. And if you embroider without using a hoop, you need to turn the work over when each row ends, and bring the needle out after the last stitch.

To make a “oblique and elongated tapestry stitch”, you need to proceed in the same way as when embroidering a regular one, but take three threads vertically.

It takes quite a bit of effort and patience to create a soft and fluffy rug yourself using the carpet technique. Such an exclusive product will be a wonderful gift for loved ones or will delight you for many years. In addition, the carpet embroidery technique makes it possible to get rid of a huge amount of yarn leftovers, which are probably stored in the bins of every needlewoman idle.

Apply maximum imagination, and then you will get a unique masterpiece created by your own hands.

Video: tapestry stitch embroidery

This type of needlework allows you to create wonderful fluffy interior items that make your home cozier and more individual. Funny rug, made by hand, will not leave anyone indifferent! And mine Master Class will teach you this only at first glance complex creativity!

In the photo you see mine handmade rug"Sunflowers" (size 80x80 cm)

Such rug unusually easy to make. You can easily cope with its creation, you just need to learn how to tie knots. And then - it's a matter of time and patience.

You will need:

  • carpet canvas(or some dense grid with square cells);
  • any leftover color yarn;
  • special hook with a foot (if it is unrealistic to find one, you can use the usual knitting one, but this is much less convenient).

Carpet canvas with large cells can be found in many needlework stores, it is sold by the meter in rolls meter wide.

Threads for making handmade carpet are pre-prepared. You need to cut them into segments of equal length. The easiest way to do this is to wind the yarn on a cardboard 7-8 cm wide, then remove and cut it from above and below (you can only from above or only from below, depending on the length of threads you need), according to the pom-pom principle.

Each thread is tied into a knot with a special hook for carpet weaving. These hooks come in different sizes, you need to choose the appropriate one for the thickness of your threads. The hook passes between the cells of the canvas, catches the thread and tightens it into a special knot.

In the picture below you see a hook for carpet weaving and a knot tying pattern:

On such rug a geometric ornament will look very good. In addition, as a future drawing, cross stitch pattern. The principle is the same - one cross is one knot. I created my patterns myself in the Pattern Maker for cross stitch program.

Reverse side of the mat looks like this in the picture on the right: (the figure is very clearly visible there).

It is very important to make a preliminary calculation so that the number of cells in the scheme did not exceed their number on the carpet. It is also necessary to leave a couple of centimeters of canvas around the perimeter for the hem of the finished handmade carpet.

The edges of the rug you can bend it to the wrong side, sheathe it with braid, or, for example, take the rug to a framing workshop (where they will go under the frame). I like to tie the side with a regular crochet hook.

In progress carpet weaving the tails of the loops turn out to be slightly different lengths.

To line them up, ready carpet trimmed (optional). There is a special tool for this purpose, but I use ordinary clerical scissors. The shorter the pile, the "clearer" carpet pattern.

Another rug made in the technique of nodular weaving.

Made according to the same scheme, but the knot was already tied at the stage under the number 4 (if you look at the above diagram). Please note that in this case, the knot still needs to be tied (without pulling out the ends of the threads completely), otherwise the thread will unravel.

When finalizing this carpet loops were not trimmed.

More

Not invented by craftswomen and masters of the whole world! Some of them are complex and require professional skills and special tools, while others are simple and accessible even to beginners. One of such simple, but very bright and expressive types is carpet embroidery. Not to be confused with carpet weaving!

Today, carpet embroidery in their work is used by both venerable couturiers and home-grown needlewomen. Having mastered this technique, you can make soft and cozy pillows, blankets, rugs, decorate clothes. In general, to create unique unique things.

Types of embroidery

Each of these techniques is easy to master even for beginners. And the work is done quite quickly and in the evening you can create a small exclusive product that will become an interior decoration or a great gift for loved ones. There are two types of carpet embroidery, which will be discussed below.

Looped - performed using a special needle. On the front side of such a work there will be even loops of yarn. And from the wrong side there will be smooth embroidery. Another name for this technique is "non-woven tapestry".

Nodular - performed using a special or regular crochet hook. In the process of work, short lengths of thread are tied with knots to the base fabric.

carpet embroidery

To work in this technique, you will need a special needle, you can not do without it. They are sold in craft stores. The set includes a handle, removable needles of different diameters for different thread thicknesses and a thread puller. Carpet embroidery needles are distinguished by the fact that their point is hollow and beveled at the bottom. The instructions describe how to thread the thread correctly.

The work is done on a dense fabric. The thicker the needle, the denser the fabric, otherwise unattractive holes will remain on the canvas.

Any yarn will do, but in one work it is desirable to select threads of the same thickness and structure. In the process, you can use both specially purchased yarn and the leftovers that knitters have in stock. And you can also use threads obtained by blooming woolen products that have served their time. Wasteless technology.

A hoop, scissors, a pencil will also come in handy. You can start creating a masterpiece.

Work process

This type of needlework, like carpet embroidery, is very suitable for beginners, because you can master it in a short time. Initially, you need to choose a drawing for work. You can draw a diagram yourself or choose your favorite picture. It is important that there are no small details on it, because they complicate the work process, and they are hard to see on the finished product.

Draw a pattern on the wrong side of the fabric with a pencil, taking into account that a mirror image will be obtained on the front side.

Insert the fabric into the hoop and stretch well so that there is no sagging. It is advisable to choose such a size of the hoop so that the whole picture fits in its entirety.

Thread the desired color into the needle. When working, the fabric breaks through, the work is kept inside out. Keep the needle strictly perpendicular to the surface, inserting the tool until it stops. The length of the pile is regulated by a limiter on the handle and depends on the wishes of the master.

In carpet embroidery with a needle (information for beginners), it does not matter which side the work will be started from. Insert the thread into the needle, leaving an end of at least 3 cm. It is important that the contour of the selected fragment is first drawn, which is best done in a contrasting color (black), and then the space inside is filled with the main color. You can make stitches along the contour, filling the fragment from the periphery to the center, or go through straight rows. The choice depends on the performer.

Then, with a gentle upward movement, the needle for carpet embroidery is pulled out and rearranged 2-3 mm from the initial puncture. Do not raise it too high, otherwise the loops will unravel or be uneven. Before starting work, you need to practice on a small area of \u200b\u200bthe fabric. The front row rarely looks perfect, but that's no reason to panic. The result will be visible when the drawing fragment is executed.

Periodically, you need to turn the work on the front side for control. The finished loops are bent in the opposite direction from the needle so that they do not intertwine, which will make the work sloppy.

To change the colors of the yarn, it is enough to cut the thread of the used color, leaving a small tail, and thread the new color into the needle and continue working.

The process is fun and pretty fast, as the video shows.

Needlework kits

For those who want to try their hand at this type of needlework, you can buy carpet embroidery kits. They include all the necessary materials, tools and detailed instructions, which greatly facilitates the process. The compilers of the set select the pattern, warp and yarn of the desired colors and shades. And the tools from the set can be used in the future.

End of work

In carpet embroidery with a needle, it is important for beginners to finish the work correctly so that the product retains its shape for a long time.

Remove the finished embroidery from the hoop. Look carefully at the front. If some loops turned out to be longer than the neighboring ones, they can be carefully tucked in with tweezers, picking them up from the back. If the loops turned out to be shorter than the others, then with the help of a needle or hook you can slightly pull them up.

From the inside, cut off excess threads, leaving 2 cm ponytails that need to be fixed by passing them under adjacent stitches.

Lubricate the wrong side of the work with PVA glue, diluted in a 1: 1 ratio. This should be done with a soft brush and so that the glue does not get on the front side. This technique will fix the yarn and prevent the loops from unraveling. If you do not dilute the glue, then after drying the work will be hard, and when bent, the product will crunch.

Cover the work smeared with glue with a film and leave overnight. Then remove the cellophane, spread the product on a flat surface and leave to dry completely. It smoothes the surface well.

Iron the embroidery from the wrong side and glue with interlining. You can go through the adhesive solution again. After such manipulations during operation, the product is no longer afraid of anything. All threads are securely fixed.

It remains to hem the lining, if it is a rug, if it is a pillowcase - the second wall, if the picture is inserted into the frame.

Little tricks

First, small details of the drawing are performed, then larger ones. At the last stage, the background is filled.

The length of the loop can be changed during operation. This will create relief and volume. But the entire fragment must be with the same height of the loops. For example, the grass at the foot of the mountains in the picture, or the ears of a puppy.

If there are missed loops in some areas, you can insert a thread into the needle, always go back and refine the gaps.

The contour or straight lines are preferably performed in two parallel rows. So they will look clearer and not get lost in the general background.

Crochet embroidery

Another kind of needlework is crocheted carpet embroidery. It is not difficult to manufacture, but looks very impressive. With its help, original rugs and other products are made.

Master class on carpet embroidery

To work, you will need a special dense canvas with large cells, called stramin. This material is sold in needlework stores and in building departments.

You also need a special hook, but if it is not available, you can get by with a regular knitting hook. To work, you need yarn that needs to be cut into equal segments. Their length depends on the desired length of the pile, from 3 to 10 cm. To simplify the task, it is recommended to wind the yarn onto a ruler of the desired size and cut it on one side. So all the segments will be even. Any yarn available is used.

A master class on carpet embroidery will help you complete work of any level of complexity. But it's better to start with something simple.

The picture should not contain small details, they will complicate the work and will not be visible on the finished product. The canvas is divided into 10 x 10 squares to make the process easier. Apply the image to the front. If you intend to use several colors, then you can select these zones with a pencil or felt-tip pen.

It is important to remember that you need to retreat 2-3 cm from the edge of the canvas in order to subsequently continue working with the workpiece.

In the nodular technique, work begins from the lower or upper corner, and the nodules are tied sequentially to each cell, row by row.

Fold a piece of thread of the desired color in half. Pass the hook under the canvas cell, grab the thread at the fold point and stretch it under the warp. Pass both tails into the resulting loop and tighten the knot. Each knot should match the color of the selected pattern. When everything is ready, you need to trim the ends of the threads with sharp scissors so that the product takes on a complete look.

This is how simple and uncomplicated a beautiful exclusive thing turns out.

Where to get diagrams

Any designs for carpet embroidery are used. You can draw a diagram yourself or use children's coloring books. Cross-stitch patterns are very good for this purpose, where each cell corresponds to a loop or knot. It is best to select pictures without small details.

Abstract geometric shapes or simple patterns look good. Even the stripes look beautiful, because they acquire volume and softness.

Carpet embroidery for beginners is an opportunity to spend time with benefit, use thread trimming and create a unique thing that will decorate the interior.
