Decoration of leather bags. Tips for decorating bags and briefcases with your own hands. Sewing machine to help you

You can make a basic bag up-to-date, and a boring one - updated with your own hands at no extra cost. Fashion ideas from seasonal collections will help us with this.

Idea #1: Replace the shoulder strap

If the shoulder strap of your bag is fastened with “carabiners”, then it will be easy to replace it with another strap, which may differ in color and decor. In the collections of the season there are bags with a set of interchangeable straps or handles, but you can try on straps from other bags or make them yourself from a leather cord, belt or chains.

Please note that the trend is wide shoulder straps that fit handbags of different sizes, even the smallest ones. Do not be afraid of contrasting colors - many fashion brands have used this technique in their collections.

Fashion house Fendi has released a special collection of straps for bags of various designs. Let's watch a video on how you can change the look of the bag with the help of simple manipulations:

Idea number 2: make jewelry handles

A tricky move - to build a bag handle from a necklace, was used by designers of the brands Charlotte Olympia, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, etc. To give a short bead handle a rigid shape, thread a wire through the beads.

The correct circle geometry is a source of inspiration for bag designers. We do not have to buy a round bag that is fashionable this season - we can simply use a massive bracelet as the handle of a small clutch.

Idea number 3: add decor elements

To decorate the bag, you need to stick or sew decoration elements on the bag itself or on the belt. This season it could be:

Patches or stickers

Crystals, brooches

leather flowers

Metal fittings

Leather fringe

Idea #4: Print

Try hand-printing a bag with acrylic leather paints. You can apply a drawing on a stencil, but for painting in graffiti style, as well as in ethnic style, uneven lines drawn by hand will be quite justified.

Idea number 5: fasten the bag to your belt

We connect a miniature handbag with a belt and get an up-to-date complex accessory created by our own hands.

Idea #6: Add Hanging Decorations

And the laziest option is to hang key rings, wallets, micro handbags on the handle of the bag. This is exactly what it girls do to change the look of their favorite accessories.

Each of the girls dreams of having a beautiful and exclusive bag, but sometimes it can be difficult to find a bag that will fully meet your requirements. To still get a bag that you like, just decorate the bag with your own hands, and you will get an exclusive item that no one else has. To do this, you only need fantasy and home decorations that everyone has at home.

You can decorate a bag made of matter with the help of threads and a needle. First you need to draw a future pattern on the fabric. Then sheathe the outline of the pattern with colored beads. For those who know how to embroider, you can create a beautiful ornament on one side of the bag.

You can also use acrylic paints to decorate the bag. To do this, draw the lines of the drawing with a thin pencil, and then paint with paints. Any pattern can be transferred to a fabric bag if there is a stencil. Just when you start painting, don't forget to put cardboard under the side where you'll be painting.

Using scraps of different colors, you can sew a rose. Then decorate the clasp or pocket of the bag with it. Such decorations can hide scuffs or stains that have not been washed off. For those who know how to knit, a rose can be tied and intertwined with a satin ribbon. On the bag you can place several flowers or even a bouquet of flowers.

How to prepare a leather bag for decoration?

Before decorating a leather bag, wipe it with a damp cloth. Then make a mixture of ammonia, mild soap and water, and dry the bag. Then you need to remove the moisture with a towel. If there are greasy stains on the bag, they can be removed by pouring chalk on them and leaving for 24 hours.

If you wipe the entire bag with glycerin, it will restore all its shine. A bag made of patent leather can be wiped with a soft cloth. After that, scratch off the scratched or dull fittings, buy new parts and sew them in place of the old ones.

  • First, cut off the old lining. When cutting off the lining, leave 1 cm at the place where it was sewn. After that, make a pattern, focusing on the size of the cut lining, and adding the allowance necessary for sewing.
  • After sewing the lining, sew new pockets to it. Sew the lining with small stitches. Bend the edge so that the cut is only between the material and the skin.
  • To color the skin and give it freshness and brightness, you can use sprays and atomizers. Test the color by applying it to the inside of the belt. Apply the paint to the bag and leave until it dries. To hide scuffs and minor scratches, match the color of "liquid skin" by trying to combine shades.

How to quickly decorate a bag with your own hands?

  • To quickly decorate a bag, it will be enough to make one decorative piece that will help freshen up your bag. You will need beads, candles, light fabric, scissors, video tape, leather strips, and a needle and thread for this.
  • You can make flowers from a video cassette tape. To do this, pull the tape to wrap it and make it thinner. Next, you can make flowers by reinforcing the middle with thick colored threads. Then sew the resulting decorations to the bag.
  • Fringe can be made from scraps of leather, it is enough to cut strips from it. And the more there are, the more beautiful the decoration will turn out. This fringe goes well with leather and vintage tan bags.

In all these cases, decorating the bag with your own hands will help you. To do this, you just need to imagine how you want to see your bag and use the decorations that you have at home. A few stitches - and your bag will turn into an exclusive item that can emphasize your sense of style.

In this master class, we will talk about how to decorate the front panel of the Autumn Waltz handbag using the most common and inexpensive materials, namely eco-leather.

I have nothing against natural leather, I understand that products made from it look noble, expensive and ... And with natural leather, such a decor might look even better, but my inquisitive mind was tormented by the thought, is it possible to make something similar elegant out of inexpensive materials flowers, buds and leaves. And to make it beautiful, durable and functional (Not looking for easy ways?)
As a result of some experiments, it became clear (which was already clear to the rest) that eco-leather is not so plastic, the reverse fabric side is most often of a completely different color and frayed, and in general everything is somehow not very good :) Therefore, all the same stubborn the mind began to think, what can be done here?
The result of the research was an interesting option, which will be presented here, and I can say with confidence that eco-leather decor can look just as good as decor made from natural materials. Yes, and this is a great option for those who fundamentally do not wear genuine leather products. Everyone has the right to be in their own right :)
I don’t stop at sewing a bag, for this you need a separate master class, we will talk about decor, and a bag can be anything.
So, we need:
1. Eco-leather, milky and coffee-au-lait, approx. 1 mm thick.
2. Glue "Moment Crystal" gel.
3. Acrylic paints for fabric "Decola" - the palette of autumn.
4. Brushes are different.
5. Alcohol for degreasing.
6. Scissors.
8. Beads.
9. Acrylic varnish.
10. Organza.
11. Contour for all surfaces bronze Decola.
And be sure to have a good mood :)
The composition "Autumn Waltz" will consist of a flower and leaves. How am I doing? First, I sketch out the future composition on the paper pattern of the front panel of the bag in order to determine the size of the flower and leaves.
Important: At this stage, you need to see the big picture so that the composition fits harmoniously, is not too small or too large. I estimate the flower schematically, only in order to determine the diameter, and I draw the leaves in detail and number them, because I will cut them out according to their location and size, as in the picture ... The sizes of the bag parts can be different for everyone. I have the dimensions of the part on which the decor will be, as follows: height 25 cm, width 20 cm, top 15 cm.
Someone may not make a sketch at all, and sculpt with inspiration on the go, while someone very accurately calibrates to millimeters, so everything is individual here.

I draw a paper template of a flower and leaves. Flower diameter 9 cm. Leaves of different sizes, guided by the picture. (For the template, I copied them from the drawing and cut them out.) I make the layout and outline the templates. Flowers on milky eco-leather. Leaves - eco-leather color of coffee with milk. The photo was taken so that you can see the underside of eco-leather. I cut out.

Following the epigraph to this master class, I will make the flower sandy-red in color with very small flashes of red flame, leaves in brown tones. I degrease the blanks with alcohol. On a palette (homemade - cardboard covered with cling film) I mix several shades of autumn fireworks and with a brush (here I use an old brush, swung, but, oddly enough, it is very suitable for this) I tint the ends of the flower petals. For leaves - other shades in brown, gold tones. It is necessary to tint with an almost dry brush, after removing an unnecessary amount of paint on paper or a napkin. And I direct the brush from the cuts to the middle.
Important: Be sure to capture the cut, so you fix it and connect it with the main color.
I recommend making one extra cut of the flower and first trying it on it to understand what color you get in the end. Acrylic paints darken when dry and you may not get the color you want.
I do tinting in a conveyor way (Wow, a real factory!) - I tint the first part, tint the second, when I return to the first, it has already dried up and you can see where you need to enhance the color, where to emphasize something. With the final touch, I add red flashes on the flower with a thin brush. I do until the result that suits me :)

Now I tint the inside out, with this I pursue certain goals - I strengthen the blank itself (the fabric base of eco-leather) and equalize the color with tinting - approximately. Therefore, I mix the paint red-brown
I cover the reverse side with this paint, it should not be liquid, but thick. You can even do this operation with a swab. Acrylic dries quickly. I look through the ends, check that they are covered with paint. I do this stage only on the details of the flower, the leaves will sit firmly on the glue and outline.
Important: Check the front side, you can inadvertently set unwanted spots when the flower shifts when tinting.

Now we need to give the flower volume. To give the petals a bulge, you can use bulbs for making flowers, or you can use an iron. I have both. Rich :)
If we make a bulka, then we choose the right size and bulim the petals. If using an iron, then we lay the part on a heated (highly) iron, hold it to heat up. We remove and form bulges with our fingers. Here you have to apply force :) In the photo, the flower detail on the right is made by bulging, and on the left, near the soldering iron, is made with an iron. It seems to me that the difference is small, and the swelling of the petals appeared.

Now about the tips of the petals: PVA glue, which is successfully used in making flowers from natural leather, did not give me the desired results, I tried different brands, eco-leather under the influence of PVA did not want to bend, twist and take beautiful bends, keep folds.
Therefore, I apply Moment Crystal glue (I chose it during the experiments) on the edges of the petal (from the edge of about 5 mm) and manually form folds, tucks, waves, immediately laying them the way I need. I form one petal at a time, the glue dries quickly. You don’t have to worry about visible traces of glue on the inside, then I will varnish and these traces will disappear.

After complete drying (it takes about 10 minutes to grab firmly, but according to the instructions after 24 hours), I meticulously look at all the details with a rested and not washed-out eye, and again add the necessary shades. You can emphasize the folds with some kind of paint ... And if everything suits you, you can not add anything :) I slightly emphasized it in orange.

I do the last fixing operation: on the reverse side I cover the details of the flower with glue-varnish, I have DEC-Art (you can use any acrylic varnish). Again, be sure to capture the ends. Here you need special care so as not to get on the front side. Although there are also options here, you can also cover the front side, I just don’t really like glossiness.
While everything dries up, I go to drink coffee with a cinnamon bun (oh - well, just an autumn theme!).

And ... then I again could not resist! I love working with fabric :) I'm making the middle for a flower. I take a small piece of chameleon organza in stunning autumn tints (you can take the simplest organza or veil in a suitable color), cut out circles (in my case, 3-5 cm in diameter), burn the edges above the candle, and I don’t make them very even, in nature, too, there are no perfectly identical petals, stamens, leaves :)

I assemble a flower: I lay the details on top of each other in a checkerboard pattern, fasten them with a drop of glue. Then I form the middle and also fix it in the center.

In the next step, I glue the flower in the intended place on the part of the bag. For a strong fixation of the flower, even though it is already glued, I put a golden holniten in the middle, fastening the flower already with the bag detail. Holniten will be combined with a clasp. There are also any options here. You can make a mount by sewing beads or beads into the middle.

Now, already working with the bag detail, I try to lay out the leaves and buds, as in the preliminary sketch. I apply it like that. And that's it. I take into account the boundaries of the edge. As a result, one leaf decided to settle in another place.

Having made a decision, I degrease the part of the bag and mount (fix) the leaves with glue, cutting those under the flower at the base, choosing the right length for them. I make buds with organza, folding the circle four times and gluing it to the workpiece. I let it dry for about an hour.

One of the crucial moments of painting and a small painting approached. Again I degrease the space of the entire part of the handbag with alcohol. I take a brush and...
And at that moment the artist in my soul shudders cowardly and gives up, and I shout: “Mamaaaa! Come to me, draw!”
(And who is our mother? And mother is an artist. You need to warn :)
(The film "Ordinary Miracle", there, however, was a wizard husband)
But then I catch myself, I squeeze the brush even tighter, deciding to prove (and first of all to myself!) that nature does not rest on children, but works, works and works :) I courageously refuse help, but I do not neglect advice :)
Work will now go with the leaves. The brush should be thin, preferably number 1, and I add a contour to the paint for any surfaces - in this case, Decola bronze, for strength :)
Important: Be sure to capture the cut!
I do the outline of the leaves, and so, artistically. (Or is it a hand trembling?!) Somewhere the line is thicker, somewhere thinner ... This gives a very interesting effect. As a result, the leaves come to life. In the process, I add strokes of yellow and orange to the leaves, for a better combination with the flower. It looks like autumn fireworks.

I draw additional branches in two stages. First, brown, then with a deeper brown (almost black) color I cast shadows.
Here you can improvise. You can add other buds, small flowers, leaves.
I didn’t, I got scared again, after all, I’m not an artist :)

The final stage of painting: I emphasize the shadows, quite a bit, at the flower, at the branches, at the buds. The paint is completely liquid and is washed out with water so that no borders can be seen. I take green (marsh) and orange paint.

I love random beadwork. Therefore, I add charm in the form of carelessly scattered beads and again perform the function of strengthening.

You can cover the drawing with a finishing varnish for the skin. I haven't gotten this one yet. I cover the drawing with the same varnish-glue, which can be used as a finish, as stated in the annotation.
Well, the decoration work is finished. Almost. Another small lace decor around the perimeter of the panel. I impregnate suitable lace with acrylic varnish diluted with water. The proportions are empirically determined depending on the thickness of the lace and the properties of the varnish itself. Here, as a finish, I used a decorative elastic band,

Here is the part of the bag. Now everything dries for at least 24 hours before moving on.

In the future, the details of the bag are collected, but that's a completely different story :)
The bag is in the process of being sewn, and here is the result of a similar decor :) The options may be different.

DIY beach bag

Very popular bags for going to the beach or pool which you can make by hand. We want to offer you a very interesting option for tailoring a beach bag, which in fact is not only an accessory in which you can carry everything you need for a holiday, but also bedding with pillow. You can sew such an original beach bag from two towels.

A small handmade bag from a book

Want to recycle old books? Don't rush! You can use their hard covers to make original small bags with handles or handmade clutches.

For work you will need:

- Old book

Lining fabric

Bamboo handles (optional)

paper and pencil

Such paper can be bought in stationery, as well as where everything is for computers, printers. It is called thermal transfer paper, it is available for light and dark fabrics, in a pack of 10 sheets - written for inkjet printers, but also suitable for laser printers. The technology is simple in principle - print the drawing and iron it with a hot iron.

Here is the instruction that comes with EPSON Iron-On Cool Peel Transfer Paper:

Transfers to fabric using thermal paper.
If you have not tried it yet, then be sure to try it and you will like it, because:
* The image thermal transfer process will allow each member of your family to easily create their own images based on fabric materials!
* Excellent image quality and high resolution!
* Images and factory texture remain unchanged even after washing in the washing machine!

For thermal transfer you will need the following:
* Image thermal transfer paper
* Any of the inkjet printers
* Iron
* Flat, hard, smooth, non-porous heat-resistant table or other surface. Do not use ironing boards, wood, metal or glass surfaces.
* A piece of pure matter
* Fabric where you want to transfer the image (T-shirt, napkin, etc.)

You can use any program to create an image. If your image contains text, don't forget to "mirror" the image.

Image printing
* Insert one sheet of thermal transfer paper into the printer with the printed side correctly positioned. Make sure the transfer paper mark is in the upper right corner and that the paper is not curled or folded.
* Set the paper thickness adjustment lever to "0".
* Print the image.
* After you have printed the image, cut it out with scissors, leaving approximately 5-6 mm around the edges of the image.

Before starting the thermal transfer procedure, check your iron. Irons have different heating rates. If your iron is not hot enough for thermal transfer, you can increase the time required for thermal transfer. If you have never tried transferring images to fabric with an iron before, we recommend that you practice thermal transfer of small images using old unnecessary things for this. This will help you get ready to transfer large and high quality images.

* Heat the iron to maximum temperature and do not turn it off until the end of the thermal transfer procedure. The iron must be very hot. Do not use steam for thermal transfer.
* Take a piece of any material and put it on the table so that its edge hangs from the table. Smooth it out to get rid of wrinkles. Make sure there are no seams on the work surface.
* Lay the item to be thermal transferred on the fabric.
* Iron the product with an iron.
* Lay the printed image face down on the fabric where it will be placed.

Be very careful not to touch the work surface of the iron or the transfer paper. When not in use, place the iron in a safe place and do not allow children to touch the iron or the transfer area.
For best results, choose the thermal transfer technique that works best for you.

Thermal transfer of large images
Step 1-6: Fixing the Image When using thermal transfer, use only the "wide" part of the iron whenever possible. Using the "narrow" part of the iron does not provide the best results.
Starting at the top left corner (Step 1), slowly move the iron along the transfer sheet, pressing it firmly against the surface (this should take about thirty seconds).
Repeat this procedure for the middle (Step 2) and bottom (Step 3) of the thermal transfer sheet.
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 about 30 sec. about 30 sec. about 30 sec. After you have completed steps 1, 2 and 3, turn the iron.
This time, starting at the bottom left corner (Step 4), move the iron slowly along the image sheet, pressing it firmly against the surface.
Repeat this procedure for the middle (Step 5) and top (Step 6) of the thermal transfer sheet.
Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 about 30 sec. about 30 sec. about 30 sec.
After you have completed step 6, iron the surface as described in step 7.
Step 7: Iron the surface of the sheet with the image, without lifting the iron from the table, after about 30 circular motions. Make sure all edges of the transferred image are ironed with each circular motion. Each movement should take about 4 seconds. Press the iron firmly against the surface.
Step 8: Remove paper from thermal transfer product. After you've made the last circle move, put the iron in a safe place and turn it off. Wait one to two minutes for the transfer area to cool down. Starting at any corner, remove the paper from the product. Removing paper may be difficult if the transfer area has been allowed to cool for too long.

Thermal transfer of small images Small images (4"x4" or 10x10 cm) are much easier to transfer onto fabric.
1. Start ironing on one side of the image. Slowly move the iron along the transfer sheet for about five seconds. This will fix the image on the surface.
2. Holding the iron firmly, without lifting it from the surface, slowly move it over the image for 45 seconds - 1 minute. Be careful not to overheat the thermal transfer product.
3. Place the iron in a safe place and turn it off when you are done. Wait one to two minutes for the transfer area to cool down. Starting at any corner, remove the paper from the thermal transfer product. Removing paper may be difficult if the transfer area has been allowed to cool for too long.

Tip If you are transferring more than one image to a product, make sure that the thermal transfer does not overlap with the images already applied.

The product you receive from EPSON's thermal transfer process is machine wash resistant, but you can protect colors and image quality by following these simple tips:

* Wash only in cold water and, if possible, use a special detergent for washing colored items.
* Wash colored and white items separately.
* Remove items from the washing machine immediately after the end of the washing process.
* Dry items in the dryer under normal conditions.

Of course, you can arrange in this way not only a bag, but anything you like - T-shirts, shirts, swimming trunks, a baseball cap, tablecloths ...
And if you frame it with your photo, or a photo of your loved one, it will turn out to be a miracle.
Good luck to everyone, creative success and more exclusives
