What can be done from an ordinary T-shirt. What can be done from old T-shirts: ideas

A few old T-shirts have accumulated, do not rush to the trash can. We will show you how to use knitwear with benefit.

Rug

We take a carpet mesh with small cells of 2-3 mm. You will need a lot of old knitwear. Cut things into strips of 10 cm long. We attach each strip to the cells of the grid with a hook, making a simple knot. Gradually fill in all the free space. In this way, you can recycle a bag of knitwear and get an excellent shaggy rug.

Advice! Use knitwear made from natural fibers, as it is the most hygroscopic and does not form harmful synthetic dust.

top

We cut off the collar and sleeves, grind the sections and get the top. You can shorten the bottom if you like. Applications, embroidery, sequins, stripes are welcome!

From dad's or mom's T-shirts, you can tailor excellent homemade leggings that are so quickly rubbed off by little fidgets. We cut the front half from the front, and the back from the back. We sew, and tuck the drawstring on top, where we insert a thin elastic band. You can measure!

Bracelets

Thin knitwear, if cut into narrow strips 1–2 cm wide, has an interesting feature of twisting into bundles. From such harnesses you can easily assemble all kinds of bracelets. Large beads, a buckle from an old watch will be an excellent decor for handmade jewelry.

Necklace

Harnesses, which are strips of knitwear, can be woven using the macrame technique into any shape. Show your imagination and make a necklace that absolutely no one else will have.

Hairpins and brooches

Any badge is a ready basis for an exclusive brooch. From knitwear of suitable shades, cut flower petals that are easily attached to the base. Cover the badge with a bright fabric - this will be the center of the flower. And glue the petals from the wrong side, collecting a lush corolla. Beads, beads will help complete the decoration. In the same way, we make a hairpin from the existing base.

Eco bag

Instead of a plastic bag - a fabric eco-bag. Make it simple. We sew the bottom of the T-shirt, and cut the top to make straps. We sew them together as it is done in plastic T-shirt bags. You can go shopping!

Skirt

To please your daughter with a fashionable skirt is very simple. We cut off the top of the T-shirt, tuck the edge, insert the elastic into the resulting drawstring. Ready!

backpack bag

A T-shirt made of thick, durable fabric can easily turn into a school backpack for changing shoes. We cut two rectangular flaps of the same size and sew them together from 3 sides. We bend the top and pull a separate cord into the drawstring of each half. Sew the ends of the cords to the bottom corners of the bag to make straps. Outside, you can sew a pocket.

Advice! Sew a few pieces, because one will not be enough!

Scarf

The easiest option is a scarf-pipe, which will turn out if you cut off the top of the T-shirt. In this case, the cutting edge can be cut into thin strips to make a fringe. We intertwine the ends according to the model of Pavlovo-Posad shawls.

Baby blanket

You will need a lot of T-shirts with decorative prints. We cut out the most interesting details in the form of rectangular patches of the same size. We sew the details like a patchwork quilt. The edge is trimmed with decorative braid. The wrong side can be made of soft fleece, or you can assemble a second panel of the same size from flaps.

Cat bed

A lot of obsolete knitwear has accumulated, which means it's time to dispose of it with benefit. We take the largest T-shirt from the densest knitwear, you can use a fleece hoodie. Cut off the top, sew the bottom and get the bag. We make lines parallel to the sides at a small distance from each other from bottom to top. In the resulting pockets we lay the cut pieces of knitwear. After the stuffing is completed, sew the top. It turned out to be a great bed for a cat.

chair upholstery

From knitted ribbons, you can weave a fabric that is so easy to cover the seat of a chair. Just unscrew the seat, remove the old upholstery and fix the new one with a furniture stapler.

Pillowcase

Stylish pillowcases are easy to sew. Choose T-shirts in matching colors with original prints. Cut off the top to make a tube slightly larger than the pillow. Sew the cutting edge. And to the bottom, which is already processed, we sew a zipper or buttons, buttons.

Art frames on the wall

You already have some photo frames. You can fill them not only with photographs. Cut out colorful prints from T-shirts and frame them. Thus, it is easy to assemble a unique panel for a nursery or hallway.

baskets

From worn-out knitwear, you can cut several skeins of yarn. Skillfully combining different shades, you can connect anything. For example, a basket for small things. Its valuable advantage is that it can always be washed in a washing machine, unlike a straw one.

Apron

Getting a stylish apron is easy, you only need 1 T-shirt. We cut off the front and sew on the tie straps cut from the scraps. If you tuck the bottom and stitch in 2-3 places, you will get comfortable pockets, or you can use the back of the shirt left over to cut a patch pocket out of it.

Clue! Sew a convenient loop from the inside, for which you will hang the apron on a hook.

For the simplest model, you need 8 long cords. Each cut out of a T-shirt. It's nice when all the cords are the same color, but you can use different ones. We tie one ends of the cords into a strong knot, and weave the other ends using the macrame technique, getting a mesh string bag. For a small pot, 4-5 rows of knots are enough. Then we tie the free ends into a second knot, for which we hang the pots. You can put in a pot!

Woven belt

The simplest model is three knitted cords woven with an ordinary braid. But if you wish, you can weave a more complex model. We sew the ends so that the belt does not unravel, and then we thread it into the old buckle or just take two metal rings.

Decorations

Thin yarn from old T-shirts is the most suitable material for making fluffy bright pompoms. This decor will come in handy when you need to pack gifts for the holiday.

Dress

A long bright T-shirt is what you need for a new dress. We cut off the top, and then tuck the cut edge and sew it to make a drawstring, insert the elastic. If you wish, you can decorate the bodice by making another drawstring from scraps from the inside under the bust.

Cover for books (electronic and conventional)

Fold the shirt in half. Cut off the side pieces with sleeves. Sew the sides with straight stitches. We get a mini-bag with 3 internal compartments. We put an e-book in the central one, and headphones, a charger cord and other little things in 2 others.

Advice! You can put cardboard rectangles in the central compartment or in 2 outer ones to get a hard case.

Hats

We cut out two wide strips from one or two different T-shirts, a little more than the girth of the head. We intercept them crosswise and sew the free ends. The bandeau is ready!

The most ordinary maca is very easy to turn into a chic top for the beach. On the back in the center we make horizontal cuts 10 cm long at a distance of 7–8 cm from each other from the top to the very bottom. We grab the resulting strips in the middle. Ready!

Sling

An oversized T-shirt or a pair of pieces of the same color will allow you to build the details of the sling. Its advantage is that only the edges of the flaps need to be sheathed, and the elasticity of the finished product is beyond praise.

We decorate flip flops

Well-worn flip-flops, which have worn off the top, but the sole remains intact, will serve perfectly as stylish flip flops. We remove the jumper. From a bright T-shirt we cut long strips. To each sole of two crossed strips we attach the top of the slap at the toe. We fasten two more long ties at the heel to lace around the ankle. The beach option is ready!

Table lamp cover

The option is good for cylindrical lampshades. You don’t even have to remove the old close-fitting, using it as the basis for a new decor. Knitted ribbons, pigtails, braided laces are put on PVA glue or sewn with threads, achieving a predetermined result.

Blanket and bedspread

Take as a basis the idea that you like best. It can be a patchwork technique if you have a sewing machine. And if not, then you only need a hook and scissors. We cut old T-shirts into long ribbons and knit a fabric of the desired format from them.

Curtains

Several tiers of fringe are a good idea for curtains. The carpet mesh can serve as the basis, and the easiest way to fasten the tapes is to crochet the simplest knot.

Ninja mask

Making a mask for a carnival or training is very simple if you have a black T-shirt on hand. In fact, we need a shoulder-length hat with a slit for the eyes. We cut two halves and sew along the seam. Cut out a slit for the eyes and carefully overcast the edge. If you cut with the capture of the bottom of the T-shirt, then the bottom edge will not have to be processed.

The best material for pencil cases is felt. But outwardly, he is far from always beautiful. Ennobling it from the outside is very simple - duplicate every detail from bright knitwear. A great pencil case will become much more beautiful. And for pocket use, you only need two rectangles, which are sewn from 3 sides, and on the 4th we attach a beautiful button and loop.

House for a cat, dog

The basis is the same skein of knitted yarn that we made with our own hands. But when crocheting the details of the house, we need a reinforcing base. Fishing line is perfect for this. We add it to the main thread and as a result we get hard parts that will keep their shape perfectly.

Soft toy

Good idea for creativity with children. We take T-shirts and cut out the details of future toys from them. Special precision is not required. It can be just two circles in which the filler is laid, and a funny face is embroidered or decorated with bright buttons on the front side.

Clue! Sew straps on the back of the toys, and the characters for the home puppet theater are ready!

From strips of bright jersey using macrame technique, crocheting or knitting, you can knit round or square napkins that are convenient to use anywhere, and you can wash with kitchen towels.

dog toy

From thick strips cut from knitwear, it is very easy to weave a plump pigtail, leaving it with long shaggy ends, fastened with an ordinary knot. Your dog will definitely appreciate the new toy!

Rings

From any available ring made of metal or wood, you can make a bright and stylish accessory to match the outfit. Simply assemble a fluffy pompom of small diameter (3–4 cm) from thin strips of knitwear and fasten it to the base.

Sundress

We cut a summer new thing for my daughter from a long T-shirt. We cut off the sleeves according to the type of the American armhole, making a cut line, stepping back from the border of the gate 1-2 cm along the seam of the shoulder, and from below resting exactly on the point of convergence of the side seams of the sleeve and armholes. We sew the resulting armhole with a ribbon. The base is ready, and you can decorate to your taste!

Shoe cases

It is best to put festive shoes for storage in cardboard boxes in covers. This serves two purposes at once: it protects delicate materials (satin, velvet, nubuck) from dust, and also eliminates the formation of scuffs on a hard box. We sew two rectangles cut out of T-shirts, and draw the top of the resulting bags with a drawstring, where you can insert ordinary laces or knitted ribbons.

Such an element of the wardrobe as a T-shirt is in every home. And if earlier this piece of clothing belonged to underwear, now it has become used as everyday, and for some even smart clothes. Any person, be it a man, a woman or a child, can find a few pieces that are no longer worn, but their hand does not rise to throw away. But it turns out that they can be turned into great things that will benefit you for many years to come. What can you do with an old T-shirt? The easiest option is to cut the T-shirt into strips with scissors, stretch the fabric and weave a pigtail out of these strips. There are a lot of options here: you can make plain bracelets, you can pick up stripes by color and make bright combinations.

Depending on how wide you cut the strips of fabric, the width of the bracelet will also change.

Important! You can insert wide beads into the pigtails or stick rhinestones on top, here you act according to your taste. The main thing is that you will enjoy a new stylish and fashionable accessory.

Hair bands

Headbands have long been in vogue and are not going to give up their positions yet. They are loved not only by women of fashion with long hair, but also by ladies with short haircuts. They are easy to make from an old unwanted t-shirt.

If you take a T-shirt with a beautiful photo print or with some kind of inscription that you really like and feel sorry for parting with it, then it will turn out to be a great picture. For this:

  1. You need to take a stretcher of the right size.
  2. Pull a T-shirt over him.
  3. Fix it with a furniture stapler.

Important! For beauty, you can decorate the sides of the pillow with fringe, embroider with buttons, beads.

Open sandals

Sandals in the Greek style are in fashion now. You can make them with your own hands from old flip-flops and a couple of old T-shirts. Here it is better to choose T-shirts with bright colors, if you do not have suitable ones of your own, then conduct an audit in the children's wardrobe. Children grow up fast and often don't have time to wear out their clothes, and children's t-shirts tend to be bright colors.

Shopping or beach bags

There are very interesting ideas, for example, how to make a bag out of old T-shirts with your own hands. It is very easy:

  1. Cut off the sleeves and widen the neckline. This will make it easier to put things in or take things out of the bag.
  2. The bottom edge of the T-shirt needs to be cut into strips, you can choose the thickness to your taste. And then you just need to connect them together.

From your old t-shirt you can make a new toy for your pet. If you weave braids and give them an interesting shape, then your four-legged friend will be satisfied. This toy can be chewed without harm to health.

And for a cat, you can make a house out of an old T-shirt. For this:

  2. Attach the hangers to the cardboard crosswise.
  3. Pull a T-shirt over the received arcs.

patchwork quilt

If you have accumulated a lot of old T-shirts, then you can get rid of them with one blow - sew a patchwork quilt. But for this you will need a sewing machine, since it will be difficult to do it manually.

Stylish top

How to make a top from a T-shirt with your own hands? Easier than easy, you just need to cut off everything that you think is superfluous. The top is ready.

Tunic or mini dress

If you have a wide and long T-shirt that is too big for you, then it will make a stylish tunic or mini dress. You just need to insert an elastic band into the waist area or pick up a stylish belt.

Cool T-shirt

If you look on the Internet, you can find many master classes on how to make a T-shirt out of a T-shirt. But the easiest option is to simply cut off the sleeves and neckline. And for greater steepness, intercept the “shoulders” from behind.

T-shirt with side lace inserts

For those who at least somehow know how to sew, there is a great option on how to update a T-shirt with lace:

  1. Choose the lace side panels that suit you and measure them.
  2. Based on their size, cut off the sides of the T-shirt along with the sleeves.

Top with loops on the shoulders

It is necessary to cut off the upper part of the T-shirt, sheathe it with another fabric with inserted eyelets. Then insert the laces into the eyelets. Just remember to leave a hole for the head.

T-shirt with a cut-out top from a men's t-shirt

Choose a T-shirt in the size you need. Turn it inside out and draw a pattern with chalk. The design can be borrowed from a photo on the Internet. Carefully cut out according to the pattern. Edges may curl slightly.

Important! Try to pick up a T-shirt made of natural high-quality cotton. The resulting T-shirt can be washed and ironed without any problems.

Beach dress:

  1. Cut off the sleeves, just do not rush to throw them away, they will still be useful to us later.
  2. Cut out large crescent moons for the sleeves.
  3. But do not touch the front part, you need to cut only from the back.
  4. The collar also needs to be cut off (about 2 cm).
  5. From the back, cut a section of the T-shirt in a straight line below the collar.
  6. The lower back of the T-shirt should be cut into three identical vertical strips. It is desirable to pull them so that they become longer and narrower and weave them into a pigtail.
  7. The end of this pigtail must be sewn to the middle of the collar.

Good afternoon friends!

Today I have ideas for you on what to make from old t-shirts. After all, we have a lot of this good stored at home, and it’s a pity to throw away worn or worn-out T-shirts that have become small. So let's empty the cabinets and make original pillows, baskets, bags, rugs and other things from old T-shirts with our own hands.

What can be done with old T-shirts. Ideas. Photo

From old T-shirts, as well as from other clothes, you can create a lot of new products.

For centuries, people have made rag carpets from scraps of fabric and old clothes. In modern times, of course, everything is available and can be bought. But handicraft and creativity are more in fashion than ever, and you can be proud of things made by yourself, in which the soul is invested and creativity is revealed.

In addition, this is also budget savings, and not the one who has a lot of money is rich, but who knows how to save and properly manage them.

Here is just a small list and a photo of what can be made from old T-shirts:

Pompoms are made from knitted yarn in the same way as from woolen yarn, winding the yarn around a cardboard circle.

Ideas for decorating pillows with knitted flowers can be viewed.

From a whole T-shirt, you can try to make a pillowcase on a pillow, and craftsmen make bags.

But even more interesting, in my opinion, are crafts made from yarn cut from an old T-shirt.

Such things can be connected very quickly, literally in a day even.

Moreover, the manufacturing methods can be different, not only crocheting, but also methods without a hook. Let's consider them in detail below using the example of making rugs, bags and baskets.

In the meantime, I'll tell you about what kind of pillow I sewed.

Pillow from an old T-shirt

I had a favorite knitted T-shirt, but I completely grew out of it, so I decided to use it for a pillowcase on a sofa cushion. The idea lay in bed and waited for inspiration, until I saw a photo of an interesting pillow made of fabric, combined with a knitted insert.

And so my new pillow was born. How to make a pillow from an old T-shirt, I'll tell you now.

In principle, nothing difficult.

Now I have such a bright pillow from an old T-shirt.

How to make yarn from knitted t-shirts

For knitting or weaving rugs and other products from old T-shirts, we need to make yarn from them.

T-shirt yarn is essentially ribbons cut from it, the width of which is 10-15 mm and does not have to be even and the same along the entire length, so you don’t need to measure and draw anything.

You just need to cut the ribbons from the T-shirt, moving in a spiral.

How to do it better and more conveniently, you can see in the presented video tutorial from:

We carefully wind the cut ribbons freely into skeins, without pulling the yarn, which already tends to stretch.

We connect short pieces of ribbons together in the following way.

  1. We make small holes at the ends of two ribbons.
  2. We pass one tape through a hole on the second tape.
  3. We insert the opposite end (without a hole) of the second tape into the hole of the first tape and tighten the yarn.

To be honest, I don’t really like this method, because holes still remain here. When crocheting rugs, such a connection can still be used, but for more elegant products, it is better to sew yarn with a needle and thread to match the yarn. And in the process of knitting, it will only be possible to sew ribbons from yarn.

The ends of the tapes superimposed on each other should be sewn neatly along the edges in a straightened form. Then the tape will shrink and the seams will remain inside it.

Bags from old T-shirts

Beautiful bags can be crocheted from yarn cut from old T-shirts of different colors.

And there is another interesting way to create a creative summer beach or shopping bag.

To do this, we need a ready-made basket, which we use for household needs.

We cut the yarn from T-shirts into small strips of the same size and tie each one by inserting it into the holes of the basket, we simply wrap the handle with ribbons.

A lovely shaggy bag from an old T-shirt turns out!

Basket from an old T-shirt

A basket of knitted yarn can also be crocheted in the usual way for us, here's how, for example. By the way, great idea for a holiday! Take a thinner hook so that the knitting is tight and the basket keeps its shape.

There is another option, also crocheted, but using yarn for knitting - acrylic or cotton, you can just use the leftover yarn.

In this case, the T-shirt ribbons will remain inside the yarn loops. I think that the principle of such knitting will be clear from the photo.

Rugs from old T-shirts

Perhaps, for rugs from old T-shirts, there are the largest number of manufacturing methods. And they are very popular now.

Such rugs are light, soft, wash well, and the yarn is budget compared to expensive.

And you can knit rugs not only round, but also any other shapes.

Crochet rugs

Since the yarn from old T-shirts is quite thick, the size of the hook for knitting rugs should be about 8-10.

The simplest patterns for knitting rugs can be used, there you can also learn more and watch video material on how to knit a rug from old T-shirts.

The unusual yarn itself gives them a beautiful effect.

And the second option for knitting rugs from T-shirts is the same as when knitting baskets using ordinary knitting yarn.

Rugs without a hook

It is especially noteworthy that rugs from old T-shirts without a hook can be made, that is, not by knitting, but by weaving and even embroidery!

Weaving rugs

First way. Braid rug

We connect two ribbons: we sew one in the center of the other (see photo).

We got three ends, on which we will weave a long braid.

Then we lay the braid in a spiral in a circle, at the same time sewing it with a zigzag on a typewriter, or with blind stitches by hand.

The second way. Weaving a rectangular rug on a frame

Here we need an additional device - a frame.

We pull vertical strong threads on it or the same ribbons from old T-shirts.

And then we weave ribbons between them horizontally.

The third way. Round rug on hoop

Weaving is similar to making a rug on a frame. But only a round frame is probably problematic. Craftswomen came up with the idea of using a hoop instead.

Additionally, you need to cut a circle out of cardboard, draw diagonals on it closer to each other, cut the circle diagonally from the edge of the circle and in the center.

Then you should place a cardboard circle in the center of the hoop and pull the threads, pulling them through the cuts and through the center, and attaching to the hoop.

Probably, there is no such girl or young man who would not have a few old or rather boring T-shirts in his wardrobe. Of course, you can give them to your mother so that she can use them as rags during cleaning. However, you are unlikely to want to do this when you find out what you can do with old t-shirts.

fashion scarf

Want to know what you can do with old t-shirts without any sewing skills? "Folk" designers offer to try to make an original scarf that will enliven any boring outfit. To make it, you will need ... sharp scissors.

Need to:

  • cut off the upper part of the T-shirt, starting from the line under the sleeves;
  • turn the resulting “ring” with the processed edge up;
  • cut from below into vertical strips of the same width (1.5-2 cm), trying to make the fringe the same length.

When the scarf is almost ready, it can be decorated. For this, multi-colored beads are suitable. They need to be put on fringe strips and tied tight knots at the ends.

Pencil skirt

Wondering what to do with an old t-shirt? If it's made of enough that holds its shape well, and you know how to sew, you can try to turn it into a fashionable skirt with a fitted silhouette.

First of all, you need a pattern. If you can't find one, then take some pencil skirt that fits your figure well. With the help of a chalk, transfer the silhouette of the pattern to the T-shirt. Cut out the front and back pieces with minimal seam allowances. Connect them with pins. Sew on a zigzag machine. In this case, it is better to set a small step with a large stitch.

From the remaining strips of fabric with a side seam, sew a belt. If the T-shirt was quite long, then you will get a belt with one seam connecting it into a ring. Otherwise, you need to take two side strips, cut out a pair of identical parts from them ½ waist long and sew them together. Next, you need to connect the belt with the skirt with the same zigzag. Since the hem of the skirt is the bottom edge of the T-shirt, it does not need processing. If the belt does not fit snugly, then you can thread an elastic band of a suitable color and width into it.

Pillows

Have you ever thought that you can make bright pillowcases with original prints for pillows for a sofa or ottoman from old T-shirts? Did this idea interest you? Then what are you waiting for? Making such textile decorations for the home does not require much effort. The main thing is that the pillows are smaller in size than the T-shirts themselves. To make pillowcases easier to wash in the future, you can match the zippers to the color of the fabric. The order of work is as follows:

  • measure the pillow in length and width;
  • cut out 2 rectangles or squares from a T-shirt with an allowance of 3 cm + 1 cm for the seams;
  • connect the parts on three sides with double seams;
  • sew on a zipper.

What can be done from an old small t-shirt

Do you know that in the wake of the fight for the environment, the fashion industry has relatively recently remembered the so-called shopping bags? If you are not ready to flaunt your purchases, then a small T-shirt in bright colors and with an original print can turn out to be an original bag. It will help you out in the supermarket and will completely replace plastic bags, with which environmentalists have long been waging an uncompromising struggle. Such a practical accessory is also convenient because it can always be folded and hidden in a bag or jacket pocket.

The manufacturing process is quite simple and depends on the chosen model. For example, you can:

  • cut off the top and turn the t-shirt inside out;
  • sew it along the cut;
  • use scraps to make handles;
  • sew them to the top.

By the way, a string bag using the same technology can also be made from a knitted T-shirt. Just in this case, it will be enough, just turning the product inside out, flash it along the bottom edge. And you don't even have to make handles!

What can be done from an old white t-shirt

Such an ordinary wardrobe item can be turned into a very original summer blouse. For this you need:

  • cut off the bottom edge of the T-shirt so that it reaches the waist;
  • make a deep neckline on the back;
  • cut long stripes from excess parts of the T-shirt and sew straps out of them;
  • process the bottom edge of the product;
  • sew one shoulder strap horizontally at the back, retreating 2 cm down from the shoulder seams;
  • measure and cut 4 straps of different lengths, each should be 8-10 cm less than the previous one;
  • sew them in a semicircle to the "crossbar", with an indent of 2 cm on each side.

Blouses with lace

You will probably be surprised when you learn that you can make very beautiful feminine tunics from old T-shirts with only a few meters of wide lace at hand.

We offer two options:

1. Vertical stripes are cut from both sides of the T-shirt along the entire length, stepping back from the side seams to a distance equal to the width of the lace. The result should be something like a poncho. A piece of wide lace braid is sewn along the edge of the entire cut on the right side. Do the same on the left. Leaving a place for the sleeves, connect the parts with side seams from the wrong side or from the outside, stepping back 3-4 cm from the edge. In the latter case, you can arrange ruffles on the sides, if you slightly stretch the thread and pick up the lace.

2. Unzip the shoulder seam of the T-shirt and cut the sleeve along the top fold. Align the top of the front half in a straight line. Sew one strip of lace to the cut of the sleeves. As a result, they should become wider. Lace is sewn along the upper edge of the blouse so that a “boat” is obtained. If there is a desire, and the T-shirt is long, a drawstring is made around the waist and a braid is threaded there.

Some more ideas

From strips cut from T-shirts of different colors, you can weave pigtails, which will become the basis for bracelets. Of these, using brooches and beads, you can also collect jewelry for the neck. T-shirt braid is also suitable for making a bright belt. You can also make an original headband from it.

Now you know what can be made from old t-shirts (see photo above), and you can turn them into stylish wardrobe items or into a fashion accessory. Good luck!

Hello! My name is Sasha Sanochki and I run the Second Street blog dedicated to stylish and creative clothing alterations. Every day I publish 5 new articles on this topic.

I did not personally make all of these alterations without exception. But I've been getting up at 5 a.m. for almost two years every day to find (before work) 5 fresh and interesting ideas for reworking clothes from old to stylish, translate them, process all the photos, make them in the same style, write a post and publish it . In two years they accumulated exactly 3000.

Every day I scroll through about 4,000 sites in the reader in search of materials, and only a third of their materials relate to handmade or fashion - I find the rest of the ideas in gossip columns, style coms, films, clips and even magazines like Forbes sometimes. I just want to have it all in one place.

I would like to show you at least a few of the 3000 ideas that have accumulated over 2 years on the site:

I decided to choose only 5 ideas for each of the popular types of clothing alterations in the last month, because it is difficult to choose from 3000 equally interesting ones). And I tried to choose those that can be shown here, without dragging a bunch of photos with master classes

So let's go:

A long cotton T-shirt can be cut - by cutting out circles, and then washed at high temperature - the sections will twist and will not “creep” (just don’t wring out in a typewriter!). Wear with a dress or leggings and a T-shirt.

3. How to tag a guy:

TeenVogue and designer Erin Fetherston come up with an idea: slather your lips with acrylic paint (fu, nasty, yup) and leave a print boldly right on the collar of his T-shirt or shirt. After drying, it remains only to iron it with the hottest possible iron - and your ex-libris on it forever. IMHO, on women's clothing somehow not very:

... and for men - that's it). A cute idea for faithful and tender lovers and a hot / playful one for notorious machos).

4. Shirt and T-shirt Dress:

What does it mean to combine beautifully)) - take a closer look - after all, the dress is actually a mix of shirts and T-shirts cut and sewn together.

5. T-shirt - blinds:

A $48 tutorial on converting two T-shirts into a sort of blinds T-shirt from Anthropologie can be found on the website, it's too detailed to copy.

5 jeans redesign ideas

1. Jeans from pieces:

I think that such a fit would not be easy to achieve if they were really sewn from pieces. So - most likely, these are thin summer jeans, on which pieces of other summer and thin ones that match in shades were sewn. And then cut off the bottom layer in places. In my opinion, there are only a couple of places where the main fabric up to the knees on top was really replaced in some area with another.

2. Ulyana Kim Dress:

Very beautiful combination of two types of jeans!

3. Isabel Marant Painted Jeans:

Painted jeans idea by Isabel Marant permanent marker in hand - and go!

4. Men's T-shirt and Jeans Makeover:

Listen, well, this, in my opinion, is just wildly cool! Something really interesting and wearable for guys. Yes, for girls too. I think that in this way you can decorate with belts both the bag and the back of the jacket.

As a bonus to the picture - a slightly rocker way to slightly increase the length of the jeans or save those that are worn out on the knees). Although with old, stretched and worn jeans, I think it will look pathetic.

It's better to use both ideas if HE decided to quit his office plankton career and finally become a rock musician. For the first concerts - the most it).

5. Bear from old jeans. Just a bear):

5 shoe redesign ideas:

1. Men's Creative Business Shoes:

It was, yes, it was already 5 times. But in this case, I liked the performance - on strict men's shoes. With a business suit and tie, it should break the patterns of impressionable partners. You say goodbye after the meeting, they leave the table to shake your hand - and, seeing the shoes, they hang) ....

2. Shredded Converse:

Shredded Converse the famous model of sneakers - the legends of the converse family, released last year and ideally suited the hot summer of 2010). They look desperately vintage - shabby, as if crumbling on the go. Ideal for delicate girlish dresses, relaxed knitwear, denim mini shorts and skinny jeans. They became an unusual and stylish alternative to the uniform of Moscow streets - ballet flats, gladiator sandals and sandals with webbed high heels.

The next summer is promised to be just as stuffy, so it makes sense not to throw away your old sneakers, but to repeat this "chip" on your own - at the same time save $ 80 (regular Converses cost from $ 40, and the Shredded model, which is in the photo - $ 120).

Everything is quite simple, take nail scissors - and go ahead, so below I will list only a few tips “essentially” from the source (links to all sources are in the posts on the site):

1. When cutting out the rectangles between the blocks, be sure not to cut the rectangle behind the leg, on the heel. There should have remained a dense rectangular area, conceived by the manufacturer - it is he who will hold back the entire structure in the end.

2. Converse sells these models with or without a laced tongue, depending on the color. Decide which is more convenient for you. If you decide to cut - outline the same semicircle around your fingers (the same depth) as on your favorite ballet flats - and cut boldly. It should be 1-1.5 cm wide - wider than the “rubber nose” of the sneaker. It will look like this:

3. It is convenient to make “dranina” along the cuts just with your fingers. Rub the edges well between your fingers as shown in the photo below. the lining of the converse frays more than the upper colored dense fabric - therefore it is better not to rub it, only the upper paint layer - it will quickly unravel to the width of the upper layer.

3. How to decorate men's shoes with spikes, but nobly:

In this case, one shoe would completely subdue me (especially if a casual jacket is on top).

4. Painting shoes with markers and paints:

Great shoe decor idea by artist Deborah Thomson. Deborah uses popular techniques with tattoo designs on shoes, and paints wedding shoes, etc. and so on.

5. Shoes with Painted Soles:

The original move is not to paint the shoes themselves, but only their soles. It does not bend as much as shoe socks, for example - which means that the paint in these places will not crack. Provided high heels - and it will be seen well. For example, I always notice yellow price tags on shoes that are not torn off in these places when I follow someone along the path)).

5 Dress Up Ideas

1. Constructor: Sports Tank Back & Sexy Dress:

In my opinion, very cool! In front, for sure, is the standard "sexy kitty" - and when you turn your back - you show the world the other side of yourself - athletic and perky). And the difference in color only emphasizes it.

The jumper on top - in my opinion, looks like a strap from a cheap sports backpack)).

2. Dress with slits:

A beautiful texture and a way to revive an old dress with a second one thrown over the top. On the top dress, if it is made of acetate silk, the pattern can be "burned out" with a standard wood burner. We burned whole lace collars to each other at needlework lessons at school.

3. Luminous Paints:

Remember, earlier at VDNH, for example, in the pavilion "Culture", luminous paints for fabric were sold in departments with various luminous nonsense? In such small round plastic tubes. In addition, they are often found in various stalls, especially for some reason near the railway station).

Here's what happens if you paint clothes with them:

One of my friends used such tubes (of different colors) to paint a paisley dress with such luminous colors with such luminous colors. I just put dots of different colors along the contour of different cucumbers. Since during the day this paint is translucent, and she chose the color (and the dress is motley) - during the day it was completely unnoticeable. And at night it was a bomb! It looked very even - not at all vulgar, as elegant as possible - apparently due to the subtlety of the drawing.

4. Decorate a simple dress:

Zebra - not a zebra, a mask - not a mask ... in general, like this, with the help of an appliqué, an ordinary white trapeze dress was given an almost mystical look.

5. NedoBeckham reworked turtleneck dress by Joseph Altuzarra.

A promising new designer is Jezzef Altuzarra and his idea (he clearly sympathizes with Victoria Beckham and her models) to remake a sweater dress:

You will need:
Turtleneck in cotton jersey dress (they used American Apparel).
Two shoulder pads.
Scissors, needles and threads.

The recipe for “feel a little Wicca” is simple:

Cut off the sleeves so as to leave a little "wings" at an angle.

With the rest of the sleeves, we tighten the overhead "shoulders" on one side.

We hem them from the inside to the dress, at the same time slightly bending the edges.

5 ideas for altering jackets

1. This jacket costs $ 410 - and pins in the right amount - 500-700 rubles. And every second person has a Chanel-style jacket;).

2. The idea of altering the jacket from the 2011 lookbook by Junky Styling.

3. Sheer Back Blazer:

Jacket, part of the back of which was replaced with a transparent insert. In the showroom, the top of the jacket consisted of two parts, one on top of the other: when altering your jacket, you can simply cut it off and sew on the inside of the transparent fabric pleated, sewing it into the side seams:

By the way, did you pay attention to the decor of the trousers with a ribbon?

4. Another Zara Coat:

Zara seems to have finally remembered where they started and began to do “sharp” things again. Another Zara coat in my collections is another confirmation of this.

The original reverse side of the collar - usually the skin is sewn there (besides, it allows you to keep the collar "raised" - for example, I just go like that). It can be made from a beautiful tie) - here, it seems, this is done.

5 shirt makeover ideas:

1. ASOS.com shirt redesign idea:

2. Pants - saruel from a shirt:

Shirt alteration. If everything is clear with the topic (everything was cut off at the level of pockets and on an elastic band) - then an explanation for how to make panties a la "saruel" from a shirt- see under the cut:

source material).

Having outlined a semicircle, we make a collar along it.

We steam the pockets carefully - they will interfere with the material of the shirt to drape plastically.

As a result, it should turn out like this (after you sew the hole in place of the collar):

At the waist, the design is regulated by a knot).

3. Unusually "dirty" shirt:

Brilliant, unusually soiled shirt)! In a bright cage - turquoise - purple - I will definitely repeat for myself. It will be enough, I think, to dip 6/8 into black paint on a Dylon-type fabric (it does not need to be heated, boiled, and other perversions).

4. An elegant way to downsize a shirt:

5. Hybrid:

Hybrid GMO shirts and sweatshirts from Hussein Chalayan.

5 accessories ideas

1. 0_o suddenly!

Chain on a garter for stockings.

2. Congenial Clutch:

One of the few easy-to-sew clutch bags, which only benefits from ease of manufacture. And the pattern of such a clutch is nowhere simpler and is sold in every second store - just today I bought croissants at Azbuka Vkusa, for example) - in a craft bag of the ideal size for this case.

3. Ring Bracelet:

If you have been offered 8 times and you have never returned the ring back, you can make a bracelet out of them and wear it proudly, like a savage woman, a necklace from the scalps of defeated enemies. Well, like how they draw stars on planes for those shot down in battle).

4. Shoulder straps on the coat:

To make such leather shoulder straps on a coat, leather from one glove will be enough. Another thing is that they need to be “supported” with something then - for example, with a belt made of the same leather texture.

5. Bags and backpacks from leather jackets:

We wrote many times about bags made from old leather jackets. But personally, I adore, firstly, backpacks, and secondly, such a simplified, a la masculine, style in bags:

I couldn't even choose what to show you - I liked everything so much! And the prices are quite real, not overpriced.

and for a snack 5 interior ideas:

1. T-shirt rugs:

Laura is a seamstress with more than 20 years of experience and great taste. That is why she managed to build a successful business on what many are trying to make money on: recycling T-shirts from second-hand stores into carpets and rugs.

Laura's rugs always attract attention with subtle color combinations and original shapes. 20 photos - under the cut (and there you will also find a link to the photo - a master - class on crocheting a similar rug - the main thing is there - it’s clear how to hide the ends by tying cut T-shirts together). Laura herself, in my opinion, weaves them with pigtails, after which she painstakingly sews the pigtails together ( I would like to know with what machine or foot she manages to take such a thickness). It takes her 3-4 months to make one rug out of T-shirts.

2. How to decorate the wall with old magazines:

Idea by extra budget wall decor from Irina: these strips are simply folded into tubes and flattened magazine pages pasted onto the base.

Moreover, you can decorate in this way not only the wall, but also the vases:

And photo frames:

3. Bears - pillows from shirts:

Annika Jermyn makes teddy bears out of old shirts and calls them Mr._ then the individual name of each _ and sells for $75. You can even order from your own shirt. The toys are large - 40 centimeters high and 48 - wide.

4. Pillows with interesting textures:

Handmade sofa cushion with ingenious texture. For such laborious work and $ 265 is not a pity.

Although this one, for $110, a pillow with a British flag made of leather, is no worse.

5. Cool dude, yo! Mr. Ben Venom makes patchwork quilts from old T-shirts with heavy metal prints in the same style. For connoisseurs, so to speak).

In general, I invite you all to visit the "Second Street", who are interested in the topic of alterations in clothing or interior)).

PS. Lastly, we have contests going on there, participate with your ideas, the prizes will be good)!
