How to quickly break in new shoes. How to quickly break in new tight leather and suede shoes

Breaking in shoes that are a little tight or chafing is a real challenge. If you urgently need to stretch women's shoes for a wedding celebration or party, increase the width or length of shoes for a child, spread men's shoes, then you do not need to immediately contact specialists. Everything can be done at home using available tools or devices.

Is it possible to return shoes if they are too small?

If the shoes pinch or rub your feet, you can return them to the store within 14 days from the date of purchase. Article 25 of the Consumer Protection Law states that this can be done provided that:

  • payment receipt;
  • boxes;
  • the presentation of the product (no scratches, creases, abrasions, accessories are not lost).

Important: it is unlikely that the seller will be able to return the shoes in which they walked along the street. An exception is the return of goods under warranty within 30 days.

In order not to have to return shoes to the store, learn how to choose them correctly:

  • if you have problem legs (wide feet, bones, varicose veins), then it is better to choose shoes from trusted manufacturers and immediately on the leg, otherwise you will experience severe pain until the shoes break and take the shape of the foot;
  • it is better to measure shoes in the evening - at this time, the legs often swell, which means that the chance to buy shoes that are not the right size is small.

Is it possible to stretch women's, men's, children's shoes at home

Almost any. It is easier to do this with suede and nubuck shoes due to the softness of these materials, more difficult with patent leather shoes (there is a risk that the varnish coating will crack). If the shoes are made of artificial lacquered material, then it is almost impossible to stretch them.

It is rather difficult to break shoes made of artificial leather, fabric, velor, because these materials tend to retain their shape in any conditions. Nevertheless, there are ways for them to stretch, but such shoes can only be increased slightly.

You can stretch small shoes no more than one size.

How to break small shoes into one size

With the help of special sprays, which are sold in shoe stores and hypermarkets, shoes made from natural materials are perfectly stretched:

  • spray the shoes from the inside so that they do not get wet;
  • put them on right away;
  • repeat the procedure if necessary.

The method is suitable for any shoes (leather, suede, nubuck), with the exception of artificial and patent leather products. A stretcher is an effective tool if the shoes need to be increased in size.

Is it possible to break shoes made of eco-leather or leatherette

Eco-leather shoes are difficult to break in, as this material is synthetic, not natural. But there is an effective way to expand the shoe so that it clearly fits the foot without squeezing:

  • lubricate the inner surfaces of the shoes with petroleum jelly;
  • wear them around the house on a warm sock for two to three days.

How to stretch genuine leather, suede, nubuck

The easiest way to slightly expand tight men's, women's or children's shoes made from natural materials is to actually break the shoes in, that is, walk around the house in them for as long as possible. This method is effective, but very tiring for the legs, as calluses and swelling may appear. To quickly break in suede shoes that crush your toes or rub your heel, you can do the following:

  • wet cotton socks, wring them out properly;
  • put on shoes and walk like this around the house until the socks are dry.

The procedure is effective, usually it is carried out 1 or 2 times. Suede shoes can be held over the steam. This will help to increase the volume of the shoes and partially restore its original appearance if there are already scuffs and other defects.

How to break in new leather shoes with rubbing alcohol

Shoes made of nubuck and leather with heels or flat soles can be stretched with alcohol or vodka:

  • moisten shoes from the inside with alcohol;
  • put it on with a thick sock;
  • walk for a few hours.

The method is also suitable for suede products. Before using this method, you should make sure that the material is really natural.

How to quickly expand tight shoes at home: freezer, boiling water, hair dryer

  1. Freezing: insert the bags into the shoes, then fill them with water and put in the freezer until the water is completely frozen, then remove the shoes and wait 20 minutes. This method is suitable for shoes made of very durable and rough leather.
  2. Pour a little boiling water inside the shoes, immediately pour it out. Wait until it cools down, put on your shoes and walk around for a while. This method is good in cases where you need to stretch the shoes quickly. It sounds, of course, intimidating, but for leather shoes the method is safe, since natural materials are resistant to high temperatures.
  3. The way to stretch with a thick sock and a hair dryer: put on thick socks, then shoes and heat it all up with a hair dryer. Shoes should warm up well. to be like. The heat makes the shoes softer and stretches faster.

Ways to break in faux leather shoes and women's patent leather pumps

It is almost impossible to spread leatherette shoes, but there are ways to slightly expand leatherette shoes. The most effective of them are the expansion methods described above using alcohol, freezing and greasy cream (Vaseline) with pads. You also need to be careful when stretching patent leather shoes. If they rub the heel, you can knead it with your hands, rub it with hard soap, or beat it very carefully with a hammer.

How to Comfort Patent Shoes with Wet Newspaper and Potatoes

Patent leather pumps can be slightly softened, thereby making it more comfortable for the foot. To do this, use potatoes: put the peeled tubers into shoes along with crumpled newspapers and leave until the tubers dry overnight.

It is worth noting that the method is also suitable for shoes made from other natural materials. Wet newspapers can stretch faux leather shoes. To do this, you need to tightly stuff them with shoes and leave to dry (for 4-5 hours). However, given the property of leatherette to keep its shape, it will turn out to stretch such shoes no more than 3-5 millimeters.

Oily cream and pads

To stretch shoes made of genuine patent leather, you can apply a greasy cream or petroleum jelly:

  • lubricate the inside of the shoes with Vaseline;
  • wait until the product is absorbed;
  • put on shoes and walk around in them for 20-30 minutes.

After processing, shoe lasts must be inserted into the shoes - while walking, the shoes are deformed, while using the shoes is less likely that the lacquer coating will burst.

How to make dance shoes and velor shoes bigger

Dance shoes are made of textile, so stretching them is problematic. You can try to put a wet insole in them and walk around. A good solution is to contact a shoe shop. And it is better to treat the choice of such shoes as carefully as possible and not buy small shoes.

Velor shoes are stretched with alcohol, but water cannot be used (stains and stains will remain on the material).

The right way to trample rock shoes

The peculiarity of rock shoes is that they have a curved last, a rubber sole and you need to buy them 2 or 3 sizes smaller. Therefore, the topic of posting is relevant for all climbing lovers.

It is better not to use alcohol and steam for this for a simple reason: the block gradually levels out if you walk on a flat surface. Breaking in climbing shoes is necessary only in the process of climbing on an artificial or natural relief surface. Accordingly, the correct way to wear is to stretch the shoes daily, using shoes for their intended purpose: climbing short distances.

I bought several stretchers (Salamander, Salton, etc.) I liked Silver the most. Black tube with a picture. Volume = 150 ml. Firstly: there is a lot of it. One tube is enough for me for 2 pairs (I always stretch the tops of my calf boots full). Secondly, quite comfortable. For example: I bought Salton, not only was it not enough, very 90 ml - it was enough for 2 times, I also put it on boots, put it on - I barely left - my skin burned incredibly (through nylon stockings). after I took it off, there was a terrible irritation. Thirdly: inexpensive - in my city (Krasnoyarsk) - about 80 rubles. Against Salton - Salamander - 110-180. PS. By the way, I stretched both leather and suede, as well as their substitutes.

I recently bought a device for stretching shoes \ a wooden block with two screws / stretched all the shoes and sandals, it stretches perfectly, even synthetic sandals, although there were only straps. I couldn’t put it on before - the rise is very high, now I want to buy another stretch, which can be put inside, otherwise this one cannot fit into boots. I first inserted an inlay into the shoe, which is given when buying fins, and then a last, it’s more convenient.

I constantly buy shoes that are like norms in the store, and then small = ((usually you put on - you can endure, reach, but it’s impossible to put on the next day. Once I got it, washed the shoes, climbed into them and spent half a day at home, like in slippers. The next day - normal, they sit as they should. Now I'm again sitting in wet socks in new shoes. Only one warning - cheap shoes stretch calmly, but may not look quite perfect (as if these are not new shoes, but two or three weeks of wearing And the shoes are normal (at least the same “Tervolina”) and get wet worse and stretch worse. But it retains its appearance. The above refers to the topic “stretch in width”. socks. Stretched, but this is a thankless task. It is better to look at the length clearly.

How unpleasant and painful if new shoes rubbed your feet! You walk around the apartment in it for hours with your heels glued with plaster, but you cannot go out into the street. Don't despair, there are proven ways and you will learn how to break in your shoes.

How to break shoes - use an alcohol solution

Instead of alcohol, vodka or cologne is suitable. Use this method to break in leather and patent leather shoes. Not suitable for suede shoes - the material will deteriorate. Do not use pure alcohol, mix it with water in proportions of 2:1. Your actions are as follows:

  • pour the prepared alcohol solution into a bowl;
  • take a cotton pad and soak it abundantly in the solution;
  • wipe the shoes inside and out with a disk;
  • wear thick socks made of natural material for greater efficiency;
  • put on shoes and walk around in them for half an hour for the first time. The next day, increase the time and walk until the alcohol is completely dry. It usually takes two or three times for the shoes to break in.

How to break in shoes - freezing

If you have a freezer, the way to break in shoes is suitable. Do not use it for patent leather shoes and summer shoes with rhinestones.

The sequence of actions is as follows:

  • prepare 2 plastic bags, preferably with a zipper so that water does not spill;
  • pour cold water into the bags. Keep an eye on the liquid, the bag should fit loosely and tightly to the inside of the shoe and fill in problem areas;
  • securely tie the bags and place them in your shoes. See that no water passes anywhere;
  • put the shoes in the freezer for 8-12 hours;
  • after the specified time has elapsed, remove the shoes and remove the ice packs from the shoes, into which the liquid has turned;
  • warm the shoes to room temperature.

You can not put shoes near the radiator and heaters or warm them up with a hairdryer! Put on and walk around the room. It is advisable to immediately put on shoes after removing them from the freezer, breaking in will be more effective.

How to break in shoes - other effective ways

There are several more effective ways to break in tight shoes:

  • wet paper. Shred newspaper or paper, wet it and stuff your shoes with it to the fullest. Place to dry in a warm place in a natural way, but not near heaters and radiators. This method is effective if it is tight in the toe, but white stains will remain on suede shoes;
  • moisture. Suitable for leather shoes. Place the shoes in the box and wrap it in a damp towel. Leave for 2-3 hours. Inside the box, moisture will begin to evaporate, and the skin will become pliable and soft. Put on shoes, they will dry on the foot and “remember” their size;
  • soap. With a dry bar of soap, rub the problem areas in the shoes. Put on and walk around the room for a couple of hours;
  • special tool. Buy shoe break-in foam at the store. Direct the jet of the product to the place where the shoes are tight. Put on shoes with or without socks and walk around the room until the foam dries completely.

How to break in shoes - expert help

If the above methods did not help, contact the shoe shop. The master will stretch the shoes one size or less. With the help of special equipment, he will expand tight shoes in the right places in a few minutes.

Try to apply any of the above methods in practice, but try to break in your shoes carefully. Make sure they don't stretch out more than necessary. Do not go outside with shoes after treatment if they are not yet dry.

Why rubs shoes? This question always arises when the fact is revealed that the purchased shoes, which correspond to the size of the foot and have been tried on several times in the store, suddenly turned out to be cramped in everyday use.

Criteria for quality shoes

Shoes - an important detail of a person's appearance and one of the main foundations for shaping his image, must meet such criteria as:

It is on these principles that such an important thing is chosen. And what a disappointment sometimes happens when the shoes you put on for the first time rub, which causes great discomfort when walking. In proportion to the appearance of calluses on the legs, the mood deteriorates catastrophically. It is not always possible to return a tight pair of shoes back to the store, buying another one is expensive, and not everyone can afford such unplanned expenses. at home?

The easiest way to break tight shoes is to take them to a shoe shop where they are stretched with special equipment. But you can try to take rescue measures yourself, at home. What to do so that the shoes do not rub?

Immediately after purchase

Firstly, you don’t need to go out in new shoes immediately after buying them, otherwise pain, discomfort and blisters will become an unpleasant end to a hard day.

Painful sensations in the legs can be relieved by immediately immersing them in hot water after removing the shoes. If blisters are found, dip your feet in a warm green tea bath for 10 minutes to soothe pain, reduce the likelihood of infection, and kill bacteria.

It is necessary to wear in the acquisition gradually: at first it is better at home (preferably a few days), giving the foot time to get used to new shoes or boots. It is recommended to pre-lubricate the legs with a fat cream. Then you can overcome short distances in new shoes: for example, to the nearest store.

If the seam of the shoe rubs, it should be treated with alcohol, lubricated with soap, rubbed with a candle or tapped on it with a hammer, putting a piece of material on top. The skin will lose its rigidity and stop rubbing. The procedure must be repeated several times until the desired result is obtained. What else can I do to keep my shoes from chafing?

old newspaper way

It is possible that the above measures will not have the expected result. In this case, if leather shoes rub, you can try the newspaper method, which was widely used in Soviet times. It was necessary to take a large number of newspapers, soak them in water, tear them into small pieces, with which to push tight shoes “to the eyeballs”. After these manipulations, the shoes should be left to dry for about a day. Moreover, drying should be done in a natural way, without placing the shoes next to the battery or other warming devices. In most cases, the result met expectations. Perhaps not everyone will like the newspaper method. The problem remains: rubs shoes. What to do? What other measures can be taken?

Wet towel handling

An affordable way to solve this issue is to use vinegar. It requires moistening a small towel, which is placed in tight shoes and left overnight. After drying, the shoes should fully take the shape of the foot and no longer cause discomfort. You can wrap a box of new shoes with a wet towel, and leave it for several hours. This will create a moist environment that will make the skin supple and soft. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated more than once. After such actions, the shoes will break in much easier.

Stretch shoes with alcohol

How to break in new shoes at home? Tight shoes from the inside can be rubbed with vodka, alcohol or beer, then put them on your feet and walk around the house for a while. Alternatively, the inside of the shoes can be sprinkled with boiling water. You should know that alcohol is not suitable for fabric and suede shoes, it can ruin its appearance. In this case, it is better to choose a different way of wearing.

Or put in the freezer

Rubbing shoes - what to do?

You can take advantage of the cold: you need to put plastic bags in tight shoes, fill them with water and tie them tightly. Then place the shoes in the freezer. As the water freezes, it expands and stretches the shoes.

Sprays to help

What to do so that the shoes do not rub? You can use store-bought products, in particular special sprays, the action of which is aimed at stretching tight shoes. Sprinkle the rubbing areas with an aerosol, then immediately put on a new thing and walk around in it for several minutes (preferably in woolen socks). You may have to repeat this action several times, but in the end the result will please you: the legs will become comfortable in the update. For a faster effect, before applying the spray, it is recommended to warm up the shoes from the inside with a hot hairdryer.

In order not to buy a special product, you can use the usual deodorant available at home, which is applied on the sides of the foot, as well as on the back surface from the heel to the ankle. Working as a protective lubricant, it will protect the foot from friction.

You can fill the toe of your shoes with a little lambswool, a breathable, airy material that, unlike a napkin, will not roll into a ball. Or you can use cotton swabs.

Also, to double the protective effect, you can purchase an anti-chafing foot balm at the pharmacy, with which to lubricate the legs in places where blisters and corns form.

Often, rubbing of the skin on the legs and the formation of calluses occurs due to the constant displacement of the foot from side to side. To avoid this, you can use tightly fixed and not moving gel or silicone insoles.

Still rubbing shoes. What to do?

You can reduce pain in the instep (which is important for high-heeled shoes) if you purchase foot instep pads that are glued to the front of the shoes (sandals, boots) where the foot fits the shoe.

So that new shoes do not rub, you can use soft strips sold in stores that need to be glued on the inside.

As an analogue, in places of rubbing, you can stick an adhesive plaster. There are also small silicone pads (heel pads) on sale that are attached to the heel counter in places of friction and do not allow the formation of corns. You can stretch shoes to the required size and comfortable shape with special blocks that are present in the assortment of shoe stores.

A few shoe tricks

  • If for some reason the shoelaces are left without tips, it is recommended to smear their ends with nail polish. The latter will harden, and the laces will easily enter the holes.
  • If light-colored shoes have lost their appearance, they can be easily repainted black: rub with a raw potato, then smear with black cream and clean to a shine.
  • Spots that appear on colored shoes can be removed by rubbing them with lemon peel.
  • If new shoes stain stockings, it is recommended to sprinkle the inner surface with talcum powder.

How to keep your shoes attractive and well-groomed

In order for shoes to be worn for a long time, always look well-groomed and attractive, you need to keep them in a dry, warm place and often rub with cream. It is worth remembering: the better the shoes, the less problems with it after purchase.

Be sure to make several fittings before buying. It is better to do this in the afternoon, when the leg is larger than in the morning. You should always carefully look after your own legs, and then new shoes will not bring discomfort, but sheer pleasure.

A new pair of shoes has been bought, the new thing is pleasing to the eye, and now you put it on and feel - a little small. How is it, they chose, chose, measured, measured, and the shoes are tight. Such an incident can spoil the mood and well-being for the whole day, and the calluses that have arisen will have to be treated even longer.

Do not immediately put on a new pair of shoes “in people”, walk around the room in them for some time, evaluate the convenience and possible problems associated with shoes that are too tight.

How to choose shoes so that it is not excruciatingly painful!

At first, of course, you should take a responsible approach to the choice and purchase of shoes, because if sandals, shoes, moccasins, sneakers can be broken in, then it is problematic. Shoes must be tried on with a toe and it is better to do this by the end of the day, as by the evening the legs swell a little and increase in size. Therefore, shoes bought in the morning may later turn out to be tight and uncomfortable. In addition, pay attention not only to the size of the leg, but also to its fullness.
Remember, shoes of the wrong size and style can cause blisters, corns, and corns. And the constant wear of such shoes in the future will lead to deformity of the toes. If you wear uncomfortable shoes all day, your entire legs will hurt, not just your feet and toes.
Don't worry, breaking tight shoes is not a problem. MirSovetov knows how to stretch new shoes without harm to the feet so that they do not sting or rub the feet and toes.
  1. We wear it for a short time, but often. If the shoes are very tight and you just need to make them sit on the leg. I do it like this: I take a new pair to work and try to wear them every day for an hour or more - as much as I can, and then I change into old comfortable shoes. I do this until I feel completely comfortable in a new pair so that I can wear it all day.
  2. Entrust shoe stretching to specialists - this advice is suitable for those who have the time and are willing to wait a few days to get the result. If the shoes are half a size or more small, contact a shoe repair shop, where your pair will be stretched on professional equipment. Very convenient - I handed over the shoes that were tight, I got back comfortable and in size.
  3. Almost every more or less well-known shoe manufacturer or narrowly focused companies that produce shoe care products have special tools for stretching shoes. These are all kinds of foams and liquids for correcting the shape of shoes, they are used to stretch and soften products made of genuine leather, suede, nubuck. Such products are designed to spray them on problem areas on the inside of the shoe. After applying it, the shoes are immediately put on and worn in from half an hour to three hours - it depends on how hard the new shoes are for you. You will have to use these funds several times until the result is achieved - the shoes will not stretch the first time.
    The main convenience of using such products is the ability to apply tensile fluid not only throughout the entire volume of the shoe, but also pointwise. For example, if the width of the shoe fits well, and one of the fingers is subject to pressure. In this case, it makes no sense to apply a special agent to the entire surface - it is enough just to treat the place of excess pressure on the shoes.

Folk methods

Proven folk methods include stretching with water. The method is simple, but effective, tested on myself. Wet cotton or woolen socks in cold or warm water, wring out, but do not twist too much. We put socks on our feet and put on shoes. We walk around the room for about an hour, during which time the socks will almost dry out, and the shoes will take the shape of your foot as much as possible. If the shoes are too tight, the procedure will have to be repeated.
The above method can also be carried out using vodka, namely, instead of water to wet socks, use vodka. But be careful, it is possible that the paint will peel off the inside of the shoe.
If you have the time and are willing to wait for rainy weather, put on a new pair of shoes in the rain, under the influence of water and humidity, the shoes will take a shape close to the shape of your foot and stop pressing. However, do not dry them near a radiator or other heat sources, let the shoes dry on their own at room temperature. This method is suitable for shoes made of smooth leather, but the sole should not be leather. Do not use on suede shoes!
The next way to stretch shoes is this. We prepared a pair of shoes and two plastic bags the size of a landscape sheet, here your legs do not take part. Pour about half of the water into the bags or even less, tie it up so that the water does not leak out, put the water bags in the shoes, and place the shoes in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. We are waiting for the water to turn into ice, then we take them out of the refrigerator, take out the bags from the shoes - and the shoes are ready to wear. Ice, as you know, increases in volume when it freezes, which is why shoes stretch.
I also offer this option for stretching shoes, my friend uses it. He wets a small towel with hot water, stuffs it tightly into his shoes and waits for everything to cool down. Newspapers can be used instead of towels.
Another interesting method is using a hair dryer. We put cotton socks on our feet, then shoes, turn on the hair dryer and direct a jet of hot air to problem areas, while moving our fingers. We do not take off our shoes, we wait until they cool down.
You need to stretch the shoes gradually, if you do it in a short time, you can damage it, for example: tear it at the seams.
Separately, I would like to say about sneakers, the methods of wearing them are the same as for ordinary shoes. But there is a little secret - at first, socks of tight sports shoes can be pulled out of it insoles. This technique will make it possible to increase the size, and the shoes will not tightly compress the foot when worn.
