Knitted curtains for the kitchen - pelmets, curtains, cafe curtains. Knitted curtains for the kitchen: how to crochet openwork curtains and tie-backs Curtains crocheted patterns

Knowing only the basics of knitting and having a little free time, you can easily create amazing crochet curtains that have no analogues in the whole world. Such an interior detail, made by hand, keeps a piece of the craftswoman's soul, so it will help fill the house with comfort, warmth and joy. Knitting original curtains can be ordered at the studio, but it is much more pleasant to do such a thing yourself. What do you need to know and be able to create unique knitted curtains?

Knitted curtains in the interior

Among all the models of self-made curtains, crocheted curtains are the most popular. They are openwork, light, airy, create a cozy atmosphere in the room. Curtains up to the window sill or shorter deserve special attention: they visually increase the area of \u200b\u200ba small room. In addition, they require less yarn and time to make, and they are easier to care for.

For many, knitted curtains are associated with the decor of a village house, however, they can also look appropriate in a city apartment. The most suitable room for such curtains is the kitchen. Longer and more complex knitted curtains can be hung in the bedroom, nursery and even the living room.

Since crocheted curtains can “age” the interior, they are best used in a room decorated in country or retro style. However, one should not clutter up the environment, especially a small room, with such things. An openwork tablecloth on the table looks great in combination with short knitted curtains on the window, but a cover for a flower pot made in the same way will already be superfluous.

Preparing for knitting

If you are going to crochet curtains, first select a knitting technique. For such an interior detail, fillet weaving, tatting, Vologda lace technique, bruges are suitable. Having chosen the ornament, the main motive of the product, knit a small sample: you will calculate the knitting density from it. The sample should have a length and width of at least 10 cm, it should be washed and ironed, and only then the necessary calculations should be carried out. The curtain can be knitted from any yarn. For curtains on the kitchen window, it is better to take thin threads of light colors. In total, for knitting a short curtain, you will need about 15 skeins of fine yarn of 100 g each.

Next, measure the window opening for which you are making the curtain. Width and length data will be required. The width of the connected curtain must exceed the width of the window by at least 50 cm. Decide on the length of the finished canvas. In this case, do not forget to consider the method of attachment to the eaves.

If you have chosen the Irish knitting technique, be sure to prepare a pattern and a preliminary sketch in order to calculate the exact number of certain elements and how they are arranged in the finished product. The same is required when making a curtain using the Vologda lace technique. When using the fillet knitting technique, you can do without making a pattern.

Two schemes of modules for knitting curtain fabric

Crochet curtains with a pattern

Consider crocheting curtains using the fillet lace technique.
For two curtains measuring 35 by 60 cm you will need:

  • cotton yarn (210 m / 50 g);
  • hook number 2;
  • cotton fabric.

Scheme for instructions

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Cast on 181 stitches and work chain with chain stitches.
  2. Continue to knit, focusing on the image of the diagram: a hollow cage - 1 double crochet (s / n) + 2 air loops, a cell marked with a cross - 3 double crochets.
  3. Start each circular row with 3 air loops instead of 1 column of s / n. Finish row 1 with a s / n column in the lifting air loop from the previous one.
  4. 30 row falls in the middle of the curtain. Starting from the 29th row, knitting should be done in a mirror image.
  5. To add one filled cage at the beginning of each row, perform 6 lifting loops + 1 double crochet in the 5th and 6th chain from the hook.
  6. At the end of the row, work 3 columns with 2 yarns in the base of the previous loop.
  7. To reduce the loops at the very beginning of the row, knit them with a connecting column, at the end of the row, leave all decreasing loops untied.
  8. Knit the second curtain in the same way.
  9. Spread the finished curtain on the table, pulling and fastening, moisten, lay the prepared fabric on top and dry naturally.

In order for the connected curtains to please you with their originality and beauty for a long time and not cause trouble, use valuable recommendations.

  1. The thinner the hook you use when knitting the curtain, the more airy it will turn out. However, more time will be spent on work.
  2. Having connected the curtain, do not rush to attach it to the eaves. First wash according to the instructions of the yarn manufacturers, then dry completely and iron with a steam iron. After the curtain has completely cooled down, it can be hung up.
  3. If you starch the finished curtain, it will not sag.
  4. Before hanging the curtain, make sure that the cornice is secure enough. Weak fastenings may not support the weight of a knitted curtain.

If you do not have enough experience in needlework or crochet curtains seems too tedious for you, knit a border or tie-back for the finished curtain. Such a detail will also help to decorate the interior of the room in an original way, but its production will be simple and fast. In order not to crochet a whole canvas of curtains, make several separate pendants. By connecting them at the top and decorating with beads, beads or other decorative elements, you will get a unique curtain that can be used to decorate not only a window, but also a doorway.

A room whose window is decorated with curtains you knitted will be associated with a cozy country house. With the help of this decor element, you can create a warm atmosphere even in a city apartment. Such a thing will transform the decoration of your kitchen or other room and become truly loved.

Any person wants warmth, joy and comfort to reign in his house - which is why many of us strive to fill the interior with hand-made items. It is these things that keep a piece of the soul of their creator and become especially dear to us and our loved ones.

The idea of knitted curtains is by no means new - even our great-grandmothers created incredible hand-made masterpieces, many of which were subsequently carefully stored and passed down from generation to generation.

In the modern world, buying fabric for curtains or even a completely finished product is not a problem. In any locality there are countless home textile stores.

You can also use the services of an atelier and order tailoring of curtains on an individual order, but, you see, how much more pleasant it will be to create a miracle thing that has no analogues in the whole world!

Motivation to work

Even if the last time you knitted lace doilies was at school in labor lessons, you should not give up the idea of making your own.

Having a desire, some free time and knowing only the very basics of crochet technology, you can create original knitted curtains for the kitchen, and we, in turn, will give you a couple of fresh ideas.

Knitted curtains and curtains are associated with us, first of all, with a village house or cottage. However, even in urban housing, they will create home comfort and look very appropriate. Naturally, the most suitable room for knitted curtains is the kitchen..

Knitting curtains with sirloin technique

The most common knitting technique for curtains is loin knitting.

Cooking

Curtains for the kitchen - crocheted little things: the "highlight" of the interior and the pride of the hostess

We bring to your attention knitted with loin knitting technique. Below is a detailed instruction for its manufacture.

So, for two panels measuring 35 by 59 cm, you will need:

  1. 180 g of white (or any other delicate color) cotton yarn (210 m / 50 g),
  2. a piece of white fabric (or another suitable shade) measuring 20 by 20 cm,
  3. hook number 2.

Completing of the work

  • Knit a chain of one hundred and eighty-one air loops + three lifting air loops and start knitting with sirloin technique according to the counting pattern.
  • One empty cell - one double crochet and two air loops.
  • One filled cell - three double crochets.
  • Start each of the circular rows with three air loops, instead of one double crochet. Finish with one double crochet in the instep chain from the previous row.
  • The thirtieth row is the middle of the curtain, so from the twenty-ninth to the first row, finish the curtain in a mirror image.
  • Add one filled cage at the beginning of the row: to do this, perform six lifting chains and one double crochet in the fifth and sixth chains from the hook. At the end of the row - three columns with two crochets at the base of the previous loop. Two cells are performed in a similar way.
  • The decrease in cells at the very beginning of the row is as follows: knit all the decreasing loops with a connecting column, while leaving all the decreasing cells at the end of the row untied.
  • Pay attention to the photo below - the numbers (1, 10, 20, 30) indicate the rows.
  • End each row with an additional double crochet.
  • Knit the second part of the curtain in exactly the same way.
  • Spread the finished curtain on the table, stretch, moisten and dry under a damp cotton towel.

If you cannot imagine yourself without needlework, crocheting curtains for the kitchen will be a truly exciting activity for you, because the flight of your imagination will not be limited by anything and no one.

Please note that the curtains in the kitchen do not have to hang down to the floor at all - they can barely touch the windowsill or simply frame the window.

Bruges technique

Knitted variations are not limited to fillet knitting. Here is an example of a curtain knitted using the Bruges lace technique.

For your information. Once upon a time, such lace served only to decorate tablecloths and pillows, much later - curtains, even later - to frame beds in wealthy houses.
Thanks to the originality of weaving, Bruges lace has firmly penetrated into some styles of outerwear.
And even to this day, it is a symbol of wealth and luxury.

The three pillars of Bruges lace are braid, background mesh and motifs. Successfully complementing each other, they form magnificent intricate patterns.

The braid consists of two parts and fits quite simply. These are just double crochets, located one above the other, side chains (arches) - from five to eight air loops.

And in combination with different motives, you can knit any image. If necessary, you can add a background grid. By connecting arches together, combining motifs and filling in the empty gaps between the ribbon, you can create countless different patterns.

Having stuffed your hand, you can use this technique in knitting any other things - from small napkins to a long coat.

Note. According to the Bruges principle, Brussels lace is made - products based on it turn out to be masterpieces of unprecedented beauty.

Decorations as an element of kitchen decoration

If you do not have enough experience in knitting or you, by virtue of your nature, cannot sit in one place for a long time, but the idea of decorating the interior of the kitchen seems very interesting to you, start with a simple knitting of a border for a finished curtain.

Note!
Knitted ties for curtains will easily refresh the "bored" kitchen interior.

Hook Alternative

Curtains can be crocheted and knitted, as well as by machine. Just keep in mind, a full-length curtain to the floor will come out quite heavy. So, if you suddenly think of knitting large canvases, take care of a reliable method of fastening in advance.

Curtains can not only be knitted, but even weaved. For example, the macrame technique allows you to create incredible products.

In addition, the curtains in the kitchen can be located not only on the window, but also in the doorway.

In Soviet times, bamboo curtains were very popular - they were just located in doorways. Curtains made of beads are now considered relevant. They can be both simple and fancy, for example, beaded curtains on bright ribbons.

In conclusion

On the Internet you can find a large number of patterns, plots and lessons for making knitwear. However, why go far - right on our website, at the end of this article, you can watch a comprehensive thematic video. Inspiration to you!

Comfort in your home is important for everyone: someone comes home after work and wants to feel rested, while someone constantly stays at home and it is important for him to feel comfortable. Knitted ones will help to create such an atmosphere, they are reminiscent of the past, such were fashionable back in the days of grandmothers, they have remained to this day.

Benefits of self-tied curtains

It is widely believed among housewives that kitchens are impractical, that they absorb cooking grease and require constant maintenance. But at the same time, they ignore how unique such canvases look on the windows. Even if it’s a hobby, then if you want to find such curtains in a special store, it’s not a problem. And for a unique interior, you can order a personal option.

To make your own knitted curtains for the nursery, you need to spend a lot of time, but this is the cheapest and most practical option. Moreover, if you do not own the technique, you will have to study. But the advantages of this are obvious:

  • Cheap, you only need to spend money on materials;
  • Uniqueness, as you choose the design yourself;
  • The ability to weave a curtain from high-quality threads chosen by yourself.

In addition, it is worth considering that crocheting is considered very soothing, if you are very tired at work, then knitting will help you relax and calm down.

Various interiors

If desired, crocheted curtains for the kitchen can also be included in a design such as vintage. Here, when making, you need to make a touch of antiquity, create the feeling that there is not a knitted curtain on the cornice, but a relic. Best of all, gray or beige threads are suitable for such a task, then it will come out as if the curtain has been used for more than a dozen years. Withered plants or butterflies are also in place on such canvases. The drawing should be made simple, but not small, so that it can be seen from afar.

Colors and patterns

Often the kitchen is dressed in white, others are less common. Curtains are also made white, they help to visually expand not only the windows, but also a very small kitchenette. Also, people often associate white curtains and tablecloths with a holiday, so cooking in the morning with a good mood is guaranteed. If you want to make a pattern, then you do not need to make it too intricate, it is better that the canvas is light and airy. Best of all, in a rustic style, even canvases up to the windowsill will look. And if there is a desktop under the windows, then you can limit yourself to a lambrequin.

In the event that the kitchen is large, you can make more intricate crochet curtains for the kitchen. It is permissible to experiment with colors and patterns, you can choose the most daring solutions. But the knitted version of curtains to the floor can be very heavy, not every cornice will be appropriate, so this must be taken into account immediately.

We knit on our own

Knitting is not such a difficult system, you just need to learn. In addition, the hook can be used in different techniques, now we will consider each of the existing ones:

Construction work

  1. We collect a fragment, 10 by 10 cm, for this you need a diagram;
  2. Erase, apply to the window and see if you like it or not;
  3. We measure the length of the cornice, the height to the point where the crocheted curtain for the kitchen ends;
  4. Crochet curtains for the kitchen;
  5. Iron and hang on a ledge.

Summing up

Crocheted curtains for the kitchen with patterns will add coziness to the kitchen, a feeling of home warmth will appear. A tangible plus is the ability to do it yourself and get mental satisfaction from it in the process. But when choosing, you should look at the color scheme. If it is difficult to make knitted curtains for the kitchen, it is better to make them white - this is a win-win option. To properly make such curtains, you will have to master the knitting technique, but in the future it will be seriously useful. In addition, fulfilling individual orders for curtains will earn serious money.

So once you have mastered crocheting curtains, you will be satisfied forever. The main thing is not to forget before you hang ready-made curtains to wash in the machine first.

And handmade things help us in this. They are expensive all over the world. We highly appreciate the peaceful calm that handmade works bring to our home. Our grandmothers also knitted, then fashionable knitted curtains are only becoming more and more popular. And in this post I have collected crocheted curtains - patterns of models that I managed to find and that I liked.

Of course, they will not fit into every room and it takes a lot of time to knit them, but it is quite possible to knit curtains for the kitchen.

A small knitting project for such products is currently underway on my channel.

It turned out by accident. I was asked to make a tutorial on knitting some kind of motif for a curtain. I picked up several options from the Internet, I must say that this task was not an easy one, because there were not many such ideas.

I collected all the photos in one video in order to consult with my subscribers. And what would you think? Everyone liked it so much that many put knitting curtains in their priority plans, while others began to knit immediately with the release of the first micron.

These models are different: graceful, light, airy, made of motifs, mesh, with flowing threads, I made a description for them and for some videos a master class.

Knitted curtains will create a special coziness in the kitchen. And their mistress will be proud of her unique work.

For knitting curtains, of course, you need to use a thin cotton thread. It would be ideal - bobbin threads for sewing and a hook, respectively, with the number 0.5. But such work is very delicate, not everyone can do it.

You can try to take the strings "snowflake" or "iris" of the Kirov factory. Hook number 0.9 - 1.25 will suit them.

Unfortunately, I can not say exactly how many threads will be required. It depends on the length of the threads in the skein, and on the size of the window, and on the density of knitting.

Perhaps for a curtain up to the window sill, a standard window will require 12-15 hanks of yarn, 100 grams each.

Buying more threads, in my opinion, should not create problems now.

Curtains knitted with a whole canvas

These are perhaps the easiest crochet curtains - the patterns for them are so simple that beginners will be able to figure them out. And yes, they are very easy to knit. By the way, the threads here are not necessarily too thin to take, any cotton will do.

Cheerful curtain for the kitchen with a colored floral border

In this model, a simple mesh is used, along which colored openwork paths pass in several places. Decorated with a border of simple flowers. You can come up with some other border here.

Knitting should begin with motifs - flowers, which are immediately connected to each other in a line. You need enough flowers to make a border along the width of your curtain.

Then, along the upper edge of the petals, chains of air loops are attached in the order according to the pattern, and then the curtain is knitted up with a mesh.

It is more convenient to finish with an openwork path, for which it will be possible to hang the curtain.

Light mesh curtains

The second model is very similar to the first, the mesh in it is only connected according to a different pattern with dense inserts.

You should also start knitting from the border, or rather from a chain of air loops, along which to put the bottom border. In this case, you do not have to do the calculation and the border will turn out perfectly, otherwise it may end up with incomplete fragments.

And already on the finished one, it will be necessary to knit a border on the side, and from the bottom - so it will be possible to adjust the height of the curtains.

Beautiful two-piece crochet curtains

The curtain consists of two parts, each of which is knitted from left to right (right to left) in relation to the window, i.e., we will need to dial the number of loops along the length of the curtain and knit it in width.

What I especially like is that there is no need to do any calculations here.

We proceed as follows: first we must decide how long our knitted curtain will be.

We start crocheting curtains with a set of air loops. You should get a chain with a length equal to the length of the curtain, maybe a little less, because with further knitting it will stretch. But it doesn't matter, because we will knit the first row from another hank!

So it will be possible to adjust the size and knit or dissolve the typed chain.

This is how the curtain pattern will be located:

To knit the second half of the curtain, you already need to dial the same number of loops as when knitting the first part, so that they are exactly the same.

I would also tie the finished curtains above and below with a row of single crochets. So the edges will turn out to be more even and neat and it is more convenient to hang the curtains.

Curtain with falling waves of threads

Curtains made of threads are now fashionable, and in such a knitted version they look especially stylish.

Apparently, the needlewomen themselves came up with schemes for this curtain, which I found on the Internet.

But it seems to me that the scheme could be corrected and the full cells between the arches could be placed not in a checkerboard pattern, but on top of each other, this is how the curtains can be seen in the photo.

Then you will need to alternate rows: a row of single crochets and a grid row (empty and filled cells).

Someone may like the curtain in such a color version, very cheerful and bright. A particularly delicate curtain, which is suitable for any interior, will turn out in white (see photo above).

And it is connected in a slightly different way.

The numbers on the diagram indicate the number of loops in each motif. I only have doubts about 65 VP in arches, there are too many, I need to try on a sample and clarify this figure.

In the pattern, you can use columns with one crochet, or with two, or with three, as you wish.

Before you crochet the curtains with such thread waves, you need to make a calculation here.

Tie a small sample of 10 - 20 cm in size and adjust the number of air loops in the arches according to your desire.

Iron the sample through a damp cloth and count how many loops there are per 1 cm of the pattern. Multiply this number by the width of the future curtain. Approximately so many loops will need to be dialed for knitting.

But you also need to take into account that the pattern begins and ends with double crochets. Therefore, for reliability, I also advise you to start knitting the first row from another hank.

We knit the curtain from top to bottom.

Curtains crochet motifs

It is also interesting to crochet curtains from motifs, one at a time - two motifs and quietly come to the desired result. And they turn out just gorgeous!

I offer you diagrams of three interesting models and even four - we have in a separate long-standing post.

Curtain of beautiful round motifs

A very beautiful and somewhat unusual motif framed with an openwork mesh. Between the motives for connection are small simple motives.

First, we knit one large motive, and then, when knitting the second and each following such in the last row, we connect them together for two capes on each side.

Intermediate motifs can be knitted immediately or after the knitting of all large motifs is completed, connecting with them.

The border is not provided here, round motifs in themselves create a beautiful edge.

For a detailed master class on knitting and connecting motifs, see my video.

Curtain of floral motifs

This very light airy openwork curtain is connected from simple motifs - flowers.

Similarly to the first option, first you need to connect large motives, and then small ones. The connection is made in two arches.

Curtain of openwork square motifs

Absolutely everyone on the channel liked this curtain and probably more than others. In addition to the fact that the motif here is beautiful, besides not round, but square, there is also a curtain, but it is better to call it a curtain, of a small size. It hangs from the ceiling to the windowsill and maybe even a little higher, which means that you can tie it up pretty quickly.

The motifs are arranged diagonally to each other, which creates an additional effect and the edge is broken, along the bottom of which there is a light border. On the upper edge, you also need to tie a border in order to have something to attach hooks to.

But in connection with this arrangement, there is a slight difficulty - you will have to tie more halves of motifs (triangles), which will need to be placed on the sides and top edge.

Look at the diagram: in the corner, first place the triangles on the top and side, and then the squares.

Motifs for all elements are connected with pico.

The sides of the finished curtain are tied with single crochets, and I would also advise you to first tie the upper edge with columns, and then knit the border, it will turn out neater.

Whoever has difficulty reading the circuit, see my MK in the video.
