Fashionable, beautiful and durable have long been loved by fashionistas. What can be said about women's corduroy trousers, which, like practical jeans, were originally work clothes? Corduroy pants have much fewer fans, due to some shortcomings of this material, as well as the inability of many ladies to create a harmonious image with this capricious wardrobe element. Consider the advice of stylists and find out how to put together a stylish and balanced outfit.

Women's corduroy trousers for 2019 are offered in a wide variety of cuts - it can be typical jeans or loose pants, allowing you to create stylish looks based on them. How to look stylish and practical at the same time - you can see in the photo:

Pros and cons of corduroy pants

Corduroy used to be an alternative to denim for frosty weather. This material is very warm and resistant to mechanical damage, it is difficult to tear it, catching, for example, on a nail. Corduroy fleece pants are the best option for extreme cold. Another advantage of corduroy is its elasticity - such trousers do not restrict movement, even if they are rather narrow. From an aesthetic point of view, velveteen looks cozy and unusual because of the vertical hem. This texture allows you to add a touch of originality to the most ordinary image.

The pros and cons of corduroy pants can be discussed endlessly, it is better to look at the photo of the most interesting models of corduroy women's trousers for 2019:

Among the minuses, one can note the fact that velvet products are fat, despite the vertical ornament. Therefore, full ladies should choose black pants. The velveteen scar is quickly wiped off, whitish spots form on the knees and buttocks. This immediately indicates that the thing is not new, although it can last for many more years. It is also worth noting that corduroy fabric is unacceptable at special occasions; these pants are best suited for casual style.

What to wear with corduroy jeans?

Corduroy trousers are most often sewn by analogy with jeans - the same styles, welt pockets in the front and patch pockets in the back, a zipper and a button as a fastener, belt loops. What to wear with corduroy jeans? Since this is a winter material, translucent blouses and blouses, as well as fishnet tops, will not work. Given the popularity of ribbed fabric in the 60-70s of the last century, these trousers will look harmoniously as part of a retro-style outfit.

Wear sweaters, jumpers, large-knit cardigans. Hippie-style sets with bright shirts, textile bags, ethnic jewelry, and platform shoes are also appropriate. In addition to platform shoes with corduroy trousers, they wear ballet flats, pumps or oxfords, ankle boots, leather or sneakers. It is better if the shoes are not oversaturated with details, prefer a smooth texture and concise design. Light shoes like sandals or pantolets are not recommended.

Collecting a casual look, use shirts, straight and fitted jackets, denim and leather jackets, raincoats and short coats, parkas and down jackets. Tight corduroy skinny jeans, embellished with an original strap, can even be worn to the club, complemented by a bright top with a custom cut. And wear wide trousers with patch pockets on the sides with a T-shirt or sweatshirt, maintaining a sporty style.

Of the materials in a pair of corduroy in 2019, it is best to choose knitwear. Luxurious velvet, satin, guipure are not recommended. Optimally fit denim, linen and cotton, as well as modern synthetic fabrics. Turtlenecks and various blouses, sweatshirts, blazers look good with velveteen.

Velvet fabric is always in fashion. To be in trend, study the styles and colors that are relevant in a certain season, and purchase the corresponding models of corduroy trousers.

Velvet things attract with their velvety and muted palette. Even bright colors on velveteen look noble and sophisticated. Not everyone considers corduroy a practical material, but they recognize its sophistication. Is it worth buying velvet clothes this season?

Certainly yes. Women's corduroy trousers are able to replenish the wardrobe of a fashionista who appreciates comfort and wants to be in trend. But you need to choose the right style of pants and not make a mistake with the palette.

They sew from velveteen, retro-style models, trendy jeans. Each girl will be able to choose a model according to her taste and figure. The fleecy texture of velveteen visually adds volume, which should be taken into account by owners of extra pounds. But this does not mean that you have to give up corduroy trousers.

Designers indulge fashionistas with products with leather inserts and vertical patterns in the form of embroidery and rhinestones. In addition, dark trousers have a slimming effect.

They look especially good on overweight women, but you need to make sure that the trouser belt tightens the waist, and does not emphasize flaws.

The current collections of women's clothing are replete with plain trousers and suits consisting of trousers and jackets. You should not overly lean on velveteen - after all, this is a specific fabric that is not suitable for everyone. Traditionally, business suits and trousers are sewn from velveteen for every day. Let's name the most fashionable styles of corduroy pants.

Corduroy jeans

Usually jeans are sewn from denim, but corduroy pants like jeans look no less impressive. Fashionistas love corduroy jeans for their comfort and softness, but the fabric has its downsides.

Velvet sticks to lint, and its wear resistance is lower than that of denim. On the other hand, corduroy skinny jeans will be able to visually improve the figure of those girls who are underweight.

The range is replete with mid-rise and high-rise corduroy jeans, models with cuffs, straight and skinny jeans with a stretch effect.

The fashionista's wardrobe will be replenished with jeans in the shade of asphalt or chocolate. Blue velveteen flared jeans look bright and stylish. Girls willingly wear similar models with retro-style clothes.

High rise models

The high waistline is a salvation for those girls who cannot boast of a perfect figure. High rise hides extra pounds and "makes" the waist where it is needed. High-waisted trousers can visually lengthen your legs. This is in the hands of those women of fashion who are below average height, or the torso looks more massive than the lower part of the figure.

The lineup is represented mainly by classic straight trousers in a business style and retro models with a slight flare. These pants are best combined with blouses and straight-cut shirts. Pants with a high waistline and 7/8 length look good on slender fashionistas. If you have a stocky figure, it is better to choose dark maxi-length pants with a high waist.

Flared trousers

Flared corduroy trousers are the hit of the season. Not all women of fashion will dare to provocative flare, but if the figure allows, there is no need to refuse. Red or Marsala trousers in the style of the 70s. diversify everyday and romantic bow.

Soft velvet does not bulge and beautifully wraps around the figure. This is the advantage of flared corduroy pants. At the peak of popularity, products with an overestimated fit. A flare in combination with a low waist looks good only on tall girls and only in an informal outfit.

wide

Loose-fitting corduroy trousers should be such that the fabric folds gently and does not stick. Otherwise, the silhouette will not be feminine and soft, but clumsy.

Wide trousers will help out those women whose figure is far from ideal. But if you pick up pants that are not the right size or the wrong style, then the shortcomings will become even more obvious.

When choosing wide summer trousers, pay attention to the density of the fabric. Pants made of soft velveteen with a little pile look best. Pants with folds from the waist will help smooth out the massive top. Having an oversized fit will visually improve the proportions and make the figure more feminine.

Corduroy trousers rarely come with patterns, but fashion brands offer trousers with vertical panels. With the help of contrasting elements, it will be possible to visually improve the figure. So, wide trousers with leather or fabric inclusions will lengthen the silhouette and make legs slimmer.

On an elastic band

Loose-fitting trousers around the hips and buttocks often come with an elastic band. This style allows you to hide problem areas and provides freedom of movement. In this case, the trousers may be narrowed. This style is chosen by both owners of lush hips and thin girls.

In the first case, a free cut and a wide elastic band allow you to soften the massive bottom. In the second, visually add volume to the lower part of the figure.

Models with an elastic band look more informal. They are suitable for everyday outfits. Girls combine elastic trousers with blouses and sweaters that are tucked into the belt.

Pants with drapery and pleats along the waistline look even more expressive. An additional elastic band at the bottom of the trousers is a kind of cuff. Such models look youthful, stylish and casual.

Insulated models on fleece

Insulated models often come with additional inserts. Fleece trousers are popular with women. From above, the product has a standard look - muted colors and a vertical scar, from the inside - a warmed lining. Corduroy itself is a fairly warm material, and if you add it with fleece, you get a good new thing for the off-season and winter.

In case of extra pounds, you should be as careful as possible when choosing a model. Insulated pants can add a few extra inches to problem areas. It is best to choose black or dark gray pants. They visually hide extra pounds and are suitable for bad weather.

Prints and colors

Fashionable Olympus favors practical shades of velveteen. Do not go out of fashion, brown, gray pants. They are suitable for everyday and business wardrobe.

Mature ladies often choose a dark palette. Look good on women over 30 trousers in shades of marsala, emerald, burgundy. Popularity is gained by things in nude tones. This category includes products in a light beige shade, powder-colored trousers.

In the youth wardrobe, corduroy pants of a rich palette may appear. Fashionistas gravitate towards variations of red, blue, yellow, terracotta.

Ink-colored trousers, as well as khaki velvet, look spectacular. The latter is especially good in combination with things of the basic palette, as well as military-style clothing.

Blue

Various shades of blue feature in corduroy jeans. Fashionistas dress up in bright blue trousers and products in a gray-blue hue. Youth vests and shirt-cut blouses in white or milky tones are capable of complementing classic straight-cut corduroy pants.

Separately, blue jeans with a purple tint should be mentioned. Velvet with a vertical scar and an inky shade requires a competent neighborhood. The color itself is active, so it is diluted with white or powder.

Brown

Brown trousers are considered practical and versatile. It can be chocolate-colored pants or light brown trousers. For a summer wardrobe, it is worth choosing models with a sandy tint, and in a winter outfit, products in gray-brown tones will be appropriate.

Red trousers look impressive. They are in harmony with clothes in retro style, and are also suitable for an off-season wardrobe. No less popular are such colors of velveteen as terracotta and mustard. They're not true browns, but the additional hues give the trousers a more practical and modern look. In a business wardrobe, both plain trousers with a matte surface and products with a characteristic golden tint can appear.

Burgundy

Wine-colored pants look noble and feminine. Fashionistas wear burgundy trousers to the office, for a walk with friends, for a romantic date. The burgundy color is good on high-rise straight trousers, flared models, wide trousers with drapery.

Velvet in wine tones has no age restrictions. He is good on mature fashionistas and young girls, ladies with curvaceous and thin women. The burgundy color is practical. This is a rather dark, but rich shade, which is recognized as noble. It is in harmony with things of the nude palette, as well as products in white, pink, lilac and olive tones.

gray

Another practical option for women's wardrobe is corduroy trousers in various shades of gray. Young women of fashion prefer silver-gray variations. Velveteen has an interesting property - it changes shade, depending on the direction of the light. Silver gray trousers have an optical effect and look good on slender fashionistas.

Of all fabrics, velvet has a truly royal look, and any product made from this noble material looks very chic. However, this material is difficult to work with. Even experienced dressmakers are reluctant to take on this capricious material. However, if you are patient and follow the tips below, the result will be well worth the effort. And today we will consider this issue - how to sew velvet.

There are several types of velvet - cotton-based velvet, silk-based velvet, elastic velvet with elastane fibers, velveteen, panne velvet.

Each fabric requires different care, processing and ironing temperatures.

Before buying fabric, ask the seller for the rules for caring for the fabric and check how the fabric behaves on an unnecessary patch.

Rules for handling velvet

The fabric should not be stored folded, because the fabric will form creases that are very difficult, and in some cases impossible, to remove.

To store velvet, purchase hangers with clothespins in the store and hang a piece of fabric by the edge.

On velvet, you can not open the seams, as there are traces of the line with which you cannot do anything, so you need to make sure that the pattern suits you.

Many magazines give advice before sewing a piece of velvet, sew it from cheap fabric, make any necessary changes to the pattern, and only then proceed to cutting the velvet.

However, it is difficult to imagine a dressmaker who would agree to do this. It's easier and easier to use a proven pattern that you've already sewed on before.

Velvet has a pile direction, so before you start cutting, you need to run your palm over the fabric. In the direction of the pile, the fabric will be smooth and silky to the touch, against the direction - rough.

Remember that all the details of the pattern must be laid out in one direction. If you want the color of the product to be deeper and more saturated, cut against the pile (I do not recommend you do this on velvet with a long pile).

Since the velvet threads crumble on the cuts, the seams for allowances and hemming of the bottom of the product should be given a little wider than usual, it is recommended to overcast the details of the cut immediately after cutting.

To prevent the velvet pile from being crushed during ironing, place a terry towel folded several times under it. It is recommended to iron velvet with a moderately heated iron using steam. In no case do not iron the velvet dry - it is very difficult to restore the crumpled pile.

If you crumpled the pile, try to restore it by ironing the item in a vertical position “on weight”, from the wrong side, letting a strong stream of steam into the crumpled area.

When ironing the adhesive pad to the details of the product, you need to be especially careful and not overdo it with force when pressing the iron.

When performing this operation, you can fold the paired ones with the front sides, then the pile will not be accepted.

When working with especially sensitive types of velvet, organza is used as a lining, which is swept from the wrong side of the part.

To avoid displacement of parts relative to each other when performing machine stitching, on velvet with long pile, make a basting on both sides of the seam.

After completing the lines, the basting must be removed immediately, since the creases formed from the threads will be very difficult to remove over time.

All seams, including the seams of the darts, must be laid in one direction.

Altering clothes is far from a sign of poverty. Although, of course, often such a need arises due to lack of funds for new things. Therefore, old ones are used: worn jeans are repaired or cut off, dresses are sewn from shirts, coats are converted into a jacket, and so on.

But turning one old piece of clothing into another new one is also a creative process. There may be a lot of interesting ideas. And not necessarily these clothes were in a sock. Perhaps the item was bought and did not fit in size. And what cannot be worn as is, can be remade completely into something else, or make changes, decorate.

If not everyone, then many have cut their jeans to shorts. Did you sew a dress out of trousers or jeans? No? Then you can’t even imagine what interesting models can turn out.

We sew a dress from trousers

Method number 1: patches or stripes

It is logical that the trousers are pieces of fabric from which a dress can be cut in the same way as from a whole piece of material. Only it will not be a one-piece model, because we are limited by the cut of trousers.

First, we wash the trousers, if necessary, after they dry, we cut the fabric at the seams without any flaws (abrasions, stains, hooks, holes).

The dress will have to be assembled from small parts. Choose a pattern with details that fit on the cuts from the trousers.

Skinny trousers alone are hardly enough for a dress, unless you are sewing one for a little girl. Therefore, you will have to combine two, or even more. In this case, the fabric should be approximately the same thickness and, of course, combined in color, texture or pattern.

Two-pants dress example

Trousers were used from the same monophonic dense stretch fabric of different colors: black and red. The dress was sewn, so to speak, at random, without a pattern. Other black stretch fabric is used for sleeves, neckline and hem.

1, 2. We cut the seams along the perimeter of the legs. We get 8 pieces of fabric: 4 black, 4 red.

3, 4, 5. We make the middle of the dress red. We cut a strip for the front and back. If the length of the whole piece is not enough, we make it from parts. You can do embroidery.

6, 7. Cut out the side parts of the front. We attach two side parts to the middle part of the front.

8, 9. Draw an armhole line on one side. Cut out. Fold the part in half, circle the armhole on the second part and cut it out. We correct the side line, cut off the excess.

10. Level the bottom.

11. Before the dress is ready.

12. On a black strip of fabric we put the middle part of the back (the edges overlap), circle around the edge of the middle part.

13. So cut out the two side parts of the back.

14. We sew the middle part of the back with the side ones.

15. We impose on the back in front of the front sides inward, along the front we draw a line of the bottom and armholes on the back.

16. Fold the back in half face inward, draw a side line.

17. The back of the dress is ready.

18, 19. We sweep the back with the front, folding the parts face to face, along the side seams. We measure. We plan surpluses, remove, correct.

20. We cut out the sleeve from unnecessary fabric, tack, measure, adjust.

21. We tear off, cut out according to the markup and get a sleeve pattern. According to these patterns, we already cut out the details from the prepared fabric (4 in total).

22. Sew along one side.

23. We attach to the armhole.

24. Sew the sleeves. Sew them on the bottom.

25. Sew a strip folded in half lengthwise to the neckline. We insert a wide elastic band.

You can also sew a strip of fabric to the bottom of the dress, which is used for the sleeves. Here is a dress made of trousers.

From the stripes, you get such a pretty sundress on a drawstring.

The dress can be sewn according to this principle: cut the pattern into strips, as shown in the figure, then cut these parts out of the trousers.

You can first stitch the canvas from the stripes, and then cut out the details of the dress.

Method number 2: use the top of the trousers as the original part of the dress

Wide trousers or, moreover, men's trousers of large size give more options. The part with a belt can be used both on top of the dress and on the bottom. See original ideas.

Method number 3: pants and a dress

From very wide knitted trousers with an elastic band, just like that, in the leg of which you fit freely, you can sew such a stylish dress.

Everything is done very simply. Put one leg on the body, the other on the arm.

Mark the width of the bottom of the sleeve.

Model the line of the sleeve. Sew from the bottom of the leg to the lower convergence of the middle seams of the pants.

Cut off excess fabric, finish the edge.

We sew a dress from jeans

The simplest dress will turn out if the jeans have a crotch seam and unfold them so that the side seams are in the middle and the crotch seams are on the sides. From above we draw straight lines as in the figure. We sew the seams. Then we customize the figure.

You can also sew canvases from stripes cut from several pairs of jeans. Then, from these canvases, sew a dress.

An interesting dress or cape made of jeans, made using the patchwork method.

The combination of jeans with another fabric will look original.

From one pair of jeans you can sew such a sundress.

To do this, open the middle and step seams. Draw lines as in the photo. Cut along these lines. These pieces will be the middle seams of the front and back. The belt will be at the bottom of the sundress. You can add fabric in the middle.

You can also safely combine different colors of jeans, do not process the armholes and the neck of the dress, make scuffs.

Since our site is primarily intended for people who are just starting to learn tailoring, we try to offer patterns of simple styles more often than more complex ones. Today on the agenda is a pattern of women's trousers in three sizes (waist circumference 82-86-92 cm). The rest of the pattern options are listed below.

This style of trousers is one of the simplest and most practical at the same time. There is a hidden zipper in the middle seam of the front halves. There are no pockets and I would note this fact rather as a plus than a minus. Pockets in women's trousers are not very functional in principle, since usually everything you need is in your purse or, in extreme cases, in the pocket of a coat, jacket, jacket. And one more argument in favor of trousers without pockets: with a tight fit, burlap often looks ugly and spoils the appearance of the outfit, so I have more than once had to build up a pocket “to death” in ready-made trousers and jeans. Everything written above applies only to this model, and not to all pockets, as an element of clothing.

What fabric are these trousers made of? At your discretion! Suitable for gabardine, crepe, tweed, jersey, corduroy, linen, suit fabrics, etc. The color of the trousers can also be any. Choose the fabric not for a specific model, but for the occasion. Ask yourself the question: Where are you going to wear them? At work or on vacation? What are you wearing pants for? For home or city walks? And everything will become clear. The purpose of the pants will determine the choice of fabric.

The pattern is given in full size WITHOUT ALLOWANCES for seams.

Waist 82 86 92 cm
Hips 106 110 116 cm
