Italian style in clothes. Italian clothing style for women: features, details, what to combine with

And although, as the editor-in-chief of the Italian edition of Vogue correctly notes, the legendary Franca Sozzani, not all Italians dress the same, all the same, other Europeans consider the inhabitants of the Apennines to be almost the standard of beauty and elegance.

What is it that distinguishes the wardrobe of Italian women?

1. Color palette

Italians prefer light colors and natural shades, black and white. Perhaps this is due to the large amount of sun: here, and so nature plays with all the colors of the rainbow - so dressing up in bright and colorful is simply unnecessary. So Italian women choose clothes or accessories in restrained tones. Attention: pastel shades are allowed only in summer, but beige, gray, cream and white are out of season and are appropriate all year round.

The favorite color of Italians is black, which is both stylish and conservative. According to the famous Italian Monica Bellucci(Monica Bellucci), filmed in 2000 in Sicily in the film "Malena", where "many women still dress in black and cover themselves from head to toe." They know that black is the best way to unobtrusively emphasize the natural grace and bellezza mediterranea (the Mediterranean beauty of the inhabitants of Bel Paese).

2. Classic silhouette

If you're not sure how to dress, opt for a formal style. High-quality materials, impeccable cut, adjusted proportions often accompany timeless classics than changeable fashion.

Jeans, by the way, can look great in a formal setting, as long as they fit perfectly on you and are not pretentious.

And, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, such typically Italian brands as Versace and Dolce & Gabbana are by no means the most favorite brands of Italians, who prefer their catchy, baroque beauty to more restrained and calm classics associated with the style of, say, Giorgio Armani.

And finally, three more important tips regarding accessories:

1. Pay special attention to the choice of shoes for each look. And, most importantly, remember that
a) no socks with open shoes / sandals / sandals;
b) slippers have a place either on the beach or in a shoe closet - there is no third way;
c) white socks are allowed only with sports sneakers exclusively for sports. Italian secret: socks that match the shoes or trousers visually lengthen the legs.

2. Save dizzying heels for going out, and during the day give preference to a more comfortable and small heel - and you can also be quite on top of it!

3. A bag is an important accessory and an indispensable companion for modern women. And therefore, make sure that your bag is a match for you - both in proportions, and in functionality, and in status. Older Italians were instructed by their grandmothers that a real lady should have three bags: black, dark blue and medium brown - and certainly of a rigid shape.

And finally, remember that real “elegance is not to be evident, but to sink into memory” (L "eleganza non è farsi notare, ma farsi ricordare), as the master of Italian fashion Giorgio Armani said!

Often there are situations when the closet is full of clothes, but there is nothing to wear. So, things are chosen incorrectly and do not harmonize with each other. To make a basic wardrobe for women over 40, it is necessary to take into account three main postulates: style, elegance, classics.

Fashion experts advise: if you want to combine all these three criteria, feel free to choose the Italian style, and you will never go wrong.

Italian style

Italian style is synonymous with good taste and elegance. As the inhabitants of the sunny country themselves say, dressing in Italian means looking good and feeling comfortable all day.

This style is often referred to as Italian chic. For Italians, it means femininity, elegance, naturalness and some intrigue. This is expressed in the lines and silhouettes of clothing, as well as in a large number of details.

Editorial "So simple!" prepared for you detailed information about italian style clothes for women. Chic and comfort in one bottle!

  1. Dresses and midi skirts
Dresses and skirts in the Italian style are sheath, straight or flared, but by no means puffy. Casual looks are often complemented by lace skirts, and for an evening out there is a dress made of a similar material.

How do you like such a casual look with a pencil skirt?

And here is one of the classic examples of an Italian evening look in shades of gray with a lace skirt. Stylish and tasteful, right?

  2. Trousers
To create an Italian style, any classic model of trousers is perfect: straight, tapered, flared from the hip, cropped and standard length.

A white jumpsuit for every day is one of the great solutions for a hot summer, if you have chosen for yourself.
  3. Jeans
It's not that Italians don't wear jeans or chinos, it's just that classic denim or beige colors aren't "Italian" enough.

There is no place for traditional Italian-style blue options, they look too simple. The best solution would be skinny jeans in white, blue, black or light gray.

  4. Blouses and shirts
A feature of the Italian style is the abundance of high-quality knitwear.

Choose viscose tops and blouses, lace blouses, cashmere sweaters and turtlenecks, jumpers made of thin yarn for demi-season and thick yarn for cold weather.

Blouses and blouses with a deep neckline and noticeable trim (embroidery, jabot, decorative buttons) have no place in the Italian wardrobe. Tunics also do not fit in style with this style of clothing.

  5. Blazers, jackets, vests
A blouse, cardigan or sweater, and over an elegant light jacket or trench coat - this is the image of an Italian woman on a spring walk!

Preferably things made of soft materials, with a laconic and feminine design: jackets made of loose wool and without shoulder pads, classic and knitted thin vests.

  6. Outerwear
And here again, you can’t do without the classics: short coats, medium-length sheepskin coats with a belt, short fur jackets and trench coats. All things with an emphasis on the waist, without volume and minimalistic, in neutral colors.

If we are talking about Italian style, then usually the image of a woman is built around some significant thing. It can be, for example, a jacket or jacket from Armani. Everything else in the kit should be simple and basic.

  7. Shoes
Italian style offers a huge number of shoe models. The main rule is to use only classic material: leather or suede.

By the way, if you need to define the symbol of Italian style for every day, then it will be ballet flats. Ballerinas just combine elegance and femininity, in addition, they are insanely comfortable.

Also, preference should be given to neat shoes and boots, moccasins, slippers, converse and multi-colored sneakers.

  8. Decorations
Italians believe that it is jewelry that personalizes the image, since, in fact, everyone wears the same clothes. That is why Italians are very fond of wearing large rings and massive bracelets, long chains with pendants and necklaces. However, when wearing a gold watch, limit yourself to only them.

  9. Hats
Walking in the evening along the noisy Italian streets, you can find many images using classic models of hats with a narrow brim.
  10. Scarves
Italian women are very fond of silk shawls and scarves with exquisite prints! You can choose an elegant scarf that will go well with your basic wardrobe.

  11. Sunglasses
Italians just love glasses! They can be of any shape and color, as long as they are combined with the chosen outfit and the frame is not too small.

  12. Color
Naturalness, naturalness, the desire to look elegant and not vulgar dictate the colors that can most often be seen in the Italian women's wardrobe. It is black, grey, blue (denim color).

For summer things choose white and beige. Usually in one set there are 2-3 colors. Bright multi-colored combinations can be seen at shows and in magazines, but very rarely in everyday life.

When creating an Italian style, it is very important to adhere to the distinction between clothes for daytime and evening out, so as not to get into a mess. Everyday looks are characterized by a greater degree of comfort, they do not have shoes with very high heels, bright makeup and elegant dresses.

Evening sets allow a cutout on the back or chest and large decorations. If you use prints in clothes, then pay attention only to the classic options: Scottish plaid, stripes, simple geometric patterns. There should be no more than 1 printed item in the set to maintain the overall mood of restraint.

I also suggest that you familiarize yourself with a wonderful option for women over 40 from the magnificent Coco Chanel.

Italian style is synonymous with good taste and elegance all over the world.

For some reason, some people think that Italian style means wearing Armani and Gucci, high heels and designer dresses every day. However, this is absolutely not the case. As the Italians themselves say, dressing in Italian means looking good and feeling comfortable all day long.

Let's take a closer look at what it is and how to create it.

What is Italian style?

Italian style is often called "Italian chic". For Italians, this means femininity, elegance, naturalness and some intrigue. This is expressed in the lines and silhouettes of the clothes that are chosen, as well as in a large number of details.

- this is primarily not about how to comply with the latest fashion trends, not about where to buy luxury brands, but about how to be yourself at any event (walking the dog, working in the office, studying, party or romantic dinner) , to feel confident and comfortable, to be able to emphasize all your advantages with clothes.

Elegance and vulgarity

Most often, any clothing is evaluated by Italians according to two criteria: how elegant or vulgar the image looks.

Vulgar is not only what we consider to be so: chest out in a deep neckline, underwear that shines through clothes, a super short miniskirt with fishnet stockings.

Vulgar in Italy will be considered for example high heels for an ordinary office day, a combination of a short top and a short bottom (mini skirt and top), bright makeup for daytime outings, a combination of short shorts or a skirt and high heeled boots / shoes, red high boots on hairpin, etc.

Perhaps that is why Italian women rarely wear clothes that reveal most of the body even in the warm season. If, for example, an Italian woman wears shorts, then the top is likely to be completely closed.

Naturalness and comfort

As we have already written above, for Italians one of the important requirements for clothing is its comfort and convenience. The most comfortable clothes are jeans, T-shirts and knitwear. This is probably why, when choosing between a skirt, dress and jeans, an Italian woman will choose jeans for every day, which she will wear with flat shoes (according to the latest statistics, Italian women have an average of 10-16 pairs of jeans in their closet). The most popular jeans model is skinny or cigarettes. And who can say that these jeans are unfeminine?

From shoes, it will most likely be converse, multi-colored sneakers or ballet flats.

By the way, if it were possible to define the symbol of the Italian style of women for every day, then it would be ballet shoes. Ballerinas just combine elegance, femininity and at the same time are insanely comfortable.

Naturalness is respected in everything: in the fact that hair is most often worn loose, rarely dyed (and if dyed, then only in natural colors), intricate hairstyles are almost never used. Be sure to do makeup, but for daytime looks it is always natural and barely noticeable.

Colors in clothes

Naturalness, naturalness, the desire to look elegant and not vulgar dictate the colors that can most often be seen in the Italian women's wardrobe. It will be black, gray, blue (denim). For summer things, white and beige are added. Usually in one set there are 2-3 colors. Bright multi-colored combinations can be seen on Italian shows, in magazines or fashion blogs, but very rarely in everyday life.

Fashion style

If we are talking about Italian style, then usually the whole image of a woman is built around some significant thing. It can be, for example, an Armani jacket or a Chanel bag, which will be the central part of the set. Everything else in the kit should be simple and basic. However, even the fact that the thing is designer will not be flaunted. Italians consider it bad taste to wear things with large and prominent logos.

Another feature of the Italian style is layering in clothes. A T-shirt and a jacket or a blazer, a T-shirt, a cardigan and a leather jacket, a T-shirt, a shirt and a cardigan - Italians wear these with great pleasure. If we talk about outerwear, then it will most likely be a leather jacket, trench coat or coat.

A frequent difference in Italian clothing, especially among young women, is the presence of elements of rock style. It can be a bracelet with studs, a leather jacket, several rings in the ear, or heavy boots. I do not know what it is connected with. Maybe because music and musical culture in Italy is very developed. Rock performers are very popular among young people and girls.

Lots and lots of accessories

Italians believe that it is accessories that personalize the image, because in fact everyone wears the same clothes. That is why they are very fond of wearing narrow or wide straps, large voluminous scarves, large rings and massive bracelets, long chains with pendants and necklaces. And of course, almost at any time of the year, Italian women wear sunglasses (but these are already climate features).

I will add that Italians are very fond of: starting from dark shades (which are very loved in Italy), ending with pink, green, blue, etc.

As you can see, the secret to creating Italian style is quite simple. It is enough to dress naturally, choose comfortable clothes, know the advantages and disadvantages of your body, create simple elegant images, and most importantly, show yourself through the clothes, and not the clothes themselves and how good or expensive they are.

Italians are considered the most stylish nation in the world.

Not for nothing in Italy, not only women, but also men become the standard. They know how to always look great regardless of age, weather and mood. Simply Italian chic! Chic and feminine images of Italians will perfectly fit into the wardrobe of any woman. Their experience will be especially useful for ladies over 40. In this article you will find detailed information about the Italian style and stunning images for your piggy bank.

Italian-style clothing for a 40-year-old

The most valuable advantage of an Italian-style wardrobe is its high functionality and combination of things. As well as elegant, Chanel, minimalism, this direction relies on classic styles, which is the reason for the variability. To create images you will need:

1. Dresses and midi skirts.

Long and short ones do not meet the requirements of comfort, they look less concise and elegant. Dresses and skirts in Italian-style bows are sheath, straight or flared, but by no means puffy. Particularly impressive images for every day are complemented by lace skirts, and an evening out with a dress made of a similar material.

2. Pants.

Any classic models are good: straight, tapered, flared from the hip, shortened and standard length. Do not choose tight-fitting leg styles from loose fabrics. Do not forget about trouser overalls, classic, not very open textile models are good for this style.

3. Jeans.

There is no place for traditional Italian-style blue options, they look too simple. But you can buy straight or tight jeans in white, blue, black or light gray. They will complement everyday sets.

4. Blouses, shirts, blouses, sweaters.

A significant difference between the Italian style and the classic one is the priority of knitted, cashmere and high-quality knitted tops over shirts. The last ones in the wardrobe can be 1-2 in light colors. It is due to soft fabrics that the images look more feminine. Choose viscose tops and blouses, lace blouses, sweaters, turtlenecks and jumpers made of thin yarn in demi-season and from dense in cold weather. Fit both fitted and fairly loose models. The former can be combined with any bottom, the latter can be worn exclusively with tight-fitting. Variants with a deep neckline, noticeable trim (embroideries, jabot, decorative buttons, etc.) are not recommended. Tunics also do not fit into the Italian wardrobe.

5. Jackets, jackets, vests, cardigans.

As in the case of blouses, soft materials are preferred, made in a laconic and feminine design: jackets made of loose wool and strictly without shoulder pads, classic and knitted thin vests. You can completely abandon, if desired, jackets and jackets in favor of cardigans. Different models will look good, from traditional lengths to options for a knee-length knitted coat. Bows in the Italian style are especially often created in sets with a cardigan to emphasize the waist with a belt.

6. Outerwear.

Here, the choice is ruled by the classics: short coats, fur coats and a laconic design of sheepskin coats of medium length and with a belt, short fur jackets, trench coats, etc. All things with an emphasis on the waist, non-voluminous and minimalistic, in neutral colors.

7. Shoes. Italian style offers a huge number of models of quiet running shoes for everyday life. These are ballet shoes, neat shoes and boots, moccasins, slippers, etc. But no masculine-style shoes (oxfords, loafers). In addition, any laconic models with thin or stable heels are relevant. 8. Accessories.

Mostly functional: watches, medium-sized bags without much decor on weekdays and clutches in the evening. Sometimes in bows for every day it is possible to use classic models of hats with narrow fields. If you want to add jewelry to your everyday set, let it be one and not too large in size: a bracelet, pendant or earrings. Putting on a gold watch, limit yourself to them.

Refinement of images requires a calm range of colors. That is why the Italian style is dominated by achromatic, pastel and natural tones. There are no bright colors here at all, even in accents. The main ones can be considered gray, blue, green and brown, as well as black and white. Red can be used in a noticeably darker or highly lightened shade. Let's say pale yellow and faded or light shades of purple for sweaters and blouses, but these things should be few.
Prints for Italian kits are used exclusively classic: non-contrasting Scottish check or stripe. Occasionally, bows contain simple geometric ornaments in a palette of colors characteristic of the style. However, there should be no more than 1 printed item in the set in order to maintain the overall mood of restraint.

Italian style for women 40 years old

As you know, in Italy, not only women, but also men are subject to the cult of style. In no other country will you see so many well-groomed and smartly dressed representatives of the stronger sex of different ages. One gets the impression that the inhabitants of the most fashionable state in the world have a delicate sense of taste from birth. And for a 40-year-old lady, the original Italian style may be interesting due to the fact that it allows you to create images that are strict on the one hand, and very feminine and with a special chic on the other.

However, there should be no more than 1 printed item in the set in order to maintain the overall mood of restraint.

The softness of fabrics and colors combined with classic cuts create an Italian-inspired look for a woman in her 40s. This direction implies a rather rigid framework, but the result is worth it. Hardly any other style will allow you to get an interesting and decorating 40-year-old modern lady with a mix of sophistication, femininity and conciseness with a touch of chic and charm.

Italian style for women 50 years old

An unobtrusive and elegant palette of colors, combined with simple and austere cuts, make the Italian style one of the best for ladies over 50. In addition, this direction is suitable for ladies leading an active life, since another important requirement for things here is comfort. But let's look at the Italian style for women 50 years old in more detail and find out all its advantages.

Italian style colors for 50 year olds

This style does not accept rich shades, its entire palette is soft. For 50-year-olds, it will be as follows:

1. Light tones: pale yellow, sand, blue, beige, slightly grayish and bluish shades of white, as well as dusty (with a gray undertone) variations of pink, peach, lavender, aquamarine, blue, etc.

2. Saturated shades are represented by slightly brightened or, on the contrary, slightly darkened blue, red and green tones.

3. Dark colors: chocolate, aquamarine, dark plum, deep blue and green, cherry, burgundy, charcoal gray.

All these shades are relevant on weekdays, but the evening occasion makes its own adjustments. In addition to those listed, a 50-year-old lady can choose things in black, bright red and white.

When creating images in the Italian style for a lady over 50, no more than 2 chromatic colors are taken, their different shades are acceptable. For example, in the next photo, a coat and shoes in a pale aquamarine tone are combined with a dusty pink dress and a jacket in a slightly more intense pink color. The color combinations themselves are quite calm, devoid of a strong contrast in lightness and color. However, high-contrast combinations, such as black + white or red, can also take place in an evening bow.

Prints in the bows of the Italian style at least. Plain geometry is acceptable, as in the example below, a cage and a strip.

Styles of things in Italian style for women 50 years old

Italian-style clothing for ladies over 50 always has a fitted cut, with emphasis on the natural waistline. But at the same time, things are devoid of fit. These are slightly loose sheath dresses and midi skirts, shirt dresses, straight, slightly tapered trousers and models with a slight flare from the hip, fitted jackets, coats, cardigans and trench coats with a belt. Blouses and tops can be quite loose, such as batwing sleeves, drapes, etc. However, accented wide models should be avoided.

It is better for women 50 years old not to choose elongated styles of tops: jackets, tunics, as well as coats, raincoats and trench coats below the knee. Such models look visually more massive, and outerwear is also much less comfortable than medium-length options.

As for fabrics, ladies over 50 are especially good for Italian-themed ones that are not too hard and dense. For suits, trousers and skirts of the basic wardrobe, soft wool is relevant, for coats, turtlenecks, jumpers - cashmere, etc. Shirts should be made of cotton that is pleasant to the body. Also be sure to dilute the sets with silk, viscose blouses and tops. But lace should be abandoned, it can introduce an inappropriate note of infantilism into the images.

For evening sets, traditional solutions are most relevant: midi-length cocktail dresses or floor-length models. Originality and chic are given by asymmetry, shimmering of matter or large, but elegant details of the cut, like a bow on the shoulder of Linda Evangelista.

There will be a minimum of accessories both on weekdays and in an elegant exit. Pick up no more than 2 pieces of jewelry, a bag, shoes and a strap if necessary. Remember that the Italian theme does not imply bright accents placed with the help of accessories. As a rule, they match in color or are made in shades of colors already present in the clothes. In addition, bow parts are not very large, intricate in design, or richly decorated. These are quite simple, organically complementing the set of nuances.

Like almost all styles, the Italian trend for ladies over 50 gravitates towards simplicity and classics. However, the palette of colors remains predominantly soft and rich. And comfortable, pleasant to the touch fabrics contribute to the creation of sophisticated and chic bows. In general, a rare woman can resist the charm of Italian-style looks, so she advises to succumb to temptation and try them on!

French style for a woman 40-50 years old

French women are very conservative in terms of choosing clothes for different occasions: you will never see a single sports item in their everyday looks. If you want to look with Parisian chic, then it is important to follow this rule. The other extreme - pretentiousness and excessive elegance - is also useless. Everyone knows that Russian women like to overdo it a bit: shoes with a platform in the nose while walking with friends or mini to work are the norm. We want to be a little smarter than the rest and attract more attention. The French style implies a certain restraint even in the evening. Use accessories sparingly, especially jewelry, discard everything that is "too" in favor of the charm of simplicity.

As for accessories, the French style gives the palm to scarves, gloves, hats and, of course, berets and caps. Do not wear banal jewelry, it can destroy the halo of chic. Better decorate the image with a designer watch, a pearl necklace, a multi-colored scarf or a vintage brooch - but choose one.

French style wardrobe colors

Calm colors is the last characteristic feature of the French image. In a special favor are beige-brown tones, all gray options, light and dark blue, as well as black and white. Things with prints are used extremely rarely. It can be polka dots, plaid, or another simple geometric print, like the pants in the next photo.

Even in the multi-layered image of a Frenchwoman, there are no bright elements that stand out. Calm color combinations of light or, conversely, dark shades of any color are preferred. Juicy colors are practically not used, and they are not needed: the images are already self-sufficient.

French style is one of the best options for women 40-50 years old. It allows you to look restrained, but feminine, stylish, but at the same time elegant. So allow yourself the luxury of trying on the image of a resident of the fashion capital of the world!
