How to make a box from a scotch reel. Homemade caskets (with your own hands) from adhesive tape with lace (photo). Budget set of materials

With your hands, you can create a cute and interesting jewelry box. You can use it for any jewelry, jewelry, beads, buttons, hairpins. The only limitation is its size. It does not require special costs to create it, but it only takes a little effort and time. The size of the box depends on the size of the tape reel.

Necessary materials:

  • reel from adhesive tape;
  • thin cardboard;
  • PVA glue;
  • universal glue;
  • lace;
  • egg shell;
  • satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide;
  • acrylic paint;
  • acrylic lacquer.

Master class: a box from a reel of scotch tape

To work, you need thin cardboard. It is very convenient to use cardboard folders or folders.

We put the reel on the cardboard and trace with a simple pencil along the inside of the reel.

Cut out the circle. We need 10-12 such circles (depending on the thickness of the cardboard).

Then again we apply the reel to the cardboard and circle the outside with a pencil. We also cut out 10-12 circles. We glue 5 cardboard circles. To do this, lubricate the circle well with PVA glue, put the second one on it. Lubricate the second and put the third, etc. All blanks must be sent under the press, until the glue dries completely. It turns out only 4 blanks.

With sandpaper with a very fine coating, we grind the side edges well.

We put the reel on a large workpiece, align it and draw it with a simple pencil along the inside. So we mark the place where you need to glue a smaller workpiece. Lubricate the smaller workpiece with glue and apply it to the large workpiece, and send it under the press. We do the same with the second pair of blanks.





When the glue is dry, simply glue the bobbin to one of the blanks. The second blank will serve as a lid for the box. Paint the box and lid with acrylic paint.



The shell is best used from white eggs. It must first be washed and the inner film removed. Then we simply break it into small pieces and glue it to the side of the box with PVA glue. We leave a small distance between the pieces of the shell. We cover the box and the lid with acrylic varnish, it is possible in 2 layers.





Using universal glue, glue two strips of lace to match the box.



To decorate the lid, we make three roses from a satin ribbon. We wrap the edge of the tape inward at 90 degrees and twist it into a tube. Then we bend the tape outward (as if turning it over) and make a turn. Then we bend the tape again and now do half a turn. Continue doing this until you get a rose. Periodically drip a little glue on the lapel and press. We burn the edge of the tape with a candle and simply glue it.













Do you still throw away empty scotch spools? Do not do that! Now I will show and tell you how to turn garbage into a useful little thing.

So what do we need to create our masterpiece other than an empty spool?
- mat, knife, scissors;
- pencil, glue, acrylic paint;
- cardboard for the lid and bottom (I took thick corrugated cardboard for the bottom, and millimeter for the lid);
- a ribbon-ribbon for fixing the lid (a small piece);
- paper, distress ink and decorations according to your idea.

Initially, I planned to do it a little differently, so I took a picture of the jeans ink, but I didn’t need them in the process.

To create this box, I chose this paper. The one with polka dots will be inside. Patterned outside.


1. Let's put the bobbin in order, cut off everything superfluous. We cut out 2 circles from cardboard, just circle the cylinder - one for the lid, and the other for the bottom of our future box. Sand the circle for the lid to make it more even. For the bottom, do not touch yet.


2. Paint the end of the coil on one side and the sides of the cardboard for the cover. I do it with a sponge undiluted paint. For what? So that later the protruding parts look more aesthetically pleasing.


3. Cut out 2 circles for the bottom and 2 for the lid from scrap paper in the same way. Glue one of the paper circles with a cardboard bottom. I used Artugolka glue for this. At first it gets wet and looks ugly, but when it dries, everything straightens out.


Let's apply it like this:


4. Let's go sandpaper along the bottom, overwriting all the bumps.


5. Cut strips to fix the bottom. I took kraft paper. Strips 2 * 6 cm (approximately), pieces 5-6. In general, you can put it on glue, but it seems to me that it will be more reliable.


6. And this is how we stick them.


7. Decorate the circle, which will be the outer bottom. We glue it to the cardboard of the lower part, skin it, tint it with distress ink (I did it in that order).


8. Then we need to cut 2 strips - one for the inside and the other for the outside. I am very lazy! Therefore, I do this: I mark on the bobbin with a pencil - and just roll it over the paper. On the reverse side I mark by adding another 1 cm for gluing. And this will be the outer stripe.


9. Insert it inside and note how long the inside will be.


10. And now we tint the stripes. And prepare a ribbon to attach the lid. I have this one.


11. Glue the ribbon-rope inside. As you can see, I took a longer one, as usual, for reliability. Glue for a moment-crystal.


12. Paste inside, then again, skin the edge, tint. Do not forget only that sandpaper should be used when the paper dries. Paper that is wet from glue can tear!


13. Now - outside. It's better if you put the glue on the bobbin and not on the paper. Gently, like wallpaper, wiping with a cloth, consistently.


14. We glue the lid on the other end of the ribbon, we only draw the ribbon on the front part, so it will be easier to decorate. Again, let's leave the tail longer.


15. On the inside of the lid - a paper circle, again we skin and tint. We decorate this side of the lid now, if there is such an idea. I just stamped.

16. And now let's do step 15, but only with the outer part of the lid - and now, the base for the box is ready!


And here the fun begins! Decorate your box as your imagination tells you! Let's add what the soul desires - and all together we will admire the resulting masterpiece!

Surely every woman has thought more than once about where to store small household items such as buttons, beads, rings. Of course, you can buy any box you like in the store, but it is much more pleasant to make a box for storing small things with your own hands. Who would have thought that you can create an original, stylish box for jewelry, buttons, pins or something else from an ordinary tape reel.

For work you will need:
reel from wide adhesive tape,
coil from narrow double-sided tape or masking tape,
pieces of old wallpaper or scrapbooking paper,
thick cardboard,
PVA glue and "Moment",
scissors, ruler,
lace,
ribbons, beads, large buttons for decoration.

First of all, it is necessary to clean both reels of tape and paper residues. Then, placing them on thick cardboard, you need to circle the coils with a pencil to get two circles of the right size. Cut them out. Subsequently, this will be the bottom and lid of the box.



Measure the width of both bobbins, and then draw on the wallpaper strips equal in length to the circumference of each coil. As a result, you should get two strips for each reel. Also, on paper, you need to draw four circles to glue the bottom and roof of the box.



After that, cut out all the details and use glue to attach the elements to the base. To fix them, you can use paper clips until the glue dries completely.




As a result, you should get a box with a lid. All ugly seams can be hidden under lace. You just need to stick it on the joints of paper and cardboard.
To prevent the lid from getting lost over time, you can attach it to the base. To do this, use the same lace. Glue a small piece of it on the outside, and then do the same on the inside of the box.






The craft is ready. It remains only to decorate it. It all depends on your imagination. Decorate the lid of the box with satin ribbons, beads, large buttons of an unusual shape. If desired, you can use shells, beads, sparkles.


There are so many ways on the Internet how to make boxes. They can be created from wood, cardboard, beads, plywood. But this is too hackneyed, so in this article we will try to make a box from a material that is a little unusual for an ordinary person - from a scotch tape reel. This method is very simple and interesting. Therefore, let's rather consider the process of creating a box from a scotch reel.

Simple and clear

Making this type of box is very quick and easy, as you will see after reading this master class.

To work, you will need an empty reel 5 cm high from adhesive tape, corrugated cardboard, two sheets of scrapbooking paper 30 * 30 m, a figured hole punch, PVA, double-sided tape. You can also use felt and lace to decorate the box.

First of all, we draw a couple of circles on thick cardboard. Then you need to cut out four circles from scrap paper.

One pair of circles will serve as the bottom, and the second as a lid.

We cut out a pair of long rectangles on scrap paper, the length of which is equal to the size of the outer and inner circles of the tape reel. It is also worth making a small margin for height. You can make small cuts along the entire length of the strip.

Glue the scrap paper on the spool of tape to the inside, then to the front. It is best to make a box on a reel from double-sided tape.

Take one circle of white scrap paper and stick it on one piece that was intended for the bottom. Then you need to glue the bottom to the spool of tape. The teeth that remain, as an allowance for height, should be glued to the bottom from the outside. Upstairs it is worth gluing a circle of beautiful multi-colored paper.

Now it's time to make a lid for our box. In this article, we will provide you with two ideas.

Take a circle of corrugated cardboard, glue circles of paper on both sides of it. One of them should be cut with a small margin. Do it as shown in the photo. Next, you need to cut out the circumference of the lid, the height of which is a couple of cm. Any of the edges must be processed with a hole punch or cut out on your own. Put the circle on the box and glue a paper strip to it. Thanks to this method, the lid will fit snugly against the main blank of the box.

For this method, the first step is to cut a strip from the reel, the height of which is 0.5 cm. It is this strip that will serve as the basis for the lid. Top and on the sides you need to glue a beautiful decorative cardboard. Lace can be glued on the side parts.

Product decoration

In this article, we offer you examples of materials with which you can decorate the resulting box.

For example, paper. From this material you can make flowers or appliqué.

Beads and beads can serve as the second material for decoration.

You can also use any kind of fabric to decorate boxes from a scotch bobbin.

Another material for decoration can serve as satin or other types of ribbons.

You can also decorate the box with twine, three-dimensional figures of various animals, flowers, polymer clay figurines, or metal pendants.

There are many interesting ways to make a box with your own hands. It can be made from wood, plywood, cardboard, baguette, thread, and even old newspapers and magazines. To repeat the master class, you will need:

  • an empty reel from wide adhesive tape (preferably 5 cm high) - it can be successfully replaced with any cardboard tube that you just have to cut with a knife. A chic box can turn out if you cut a wide tube from linoleum into pieces!
  • binding or regular corrugated cardboard
  • scrapbooking paper - 1-2 sheets 30x30 cm.

  • lid decor
  • PVA glue
  • double sided tape.

In examples of other works, felt and lace are additionally used.
The master class is quite simple and does not require any special skills or abilities.

Manufacturing technique

The master class consists of three stages:

  • pasting a reel of adhesive tape,
  • cap creation
  • decor.

1. The first task is to draw 2 circles on thick cardboard using a tape reel. Both times you need to circle the outside. The first circle is the future bottom, the second is the blank for the lid. I cut out the details and with their help I immediately cut out 4 of the same circles of scrap paper.


2. I measure the circumference in a circle and cut out two long strips from scrap paper according to the size of the inner and outer circumference of the tape reel + a small margin in height. I cut the left stock along the entire length, so that later it would be more convenient to glue.
3. I glue the paper first on the inside, and then on the outside. If the box is made on a reel of double-sided tape, then this saves a little time and allows you to quickly paste over the outside with decorative paper. The photo shows the whole process in detail.


4. I take a part for the bottom and on one side I paste a circle of scrap paper on it, this will be the inside of the bottom. I apply glue around the perimeter of the tape reel and glue the bottom. For greater strength, I smear the left teeth with glue and also glue them to the bottom from the outside. Now it remains only to glue the second circle of scrap paper from the top to the bottom, and my box turns into a beautiful box.
5. Now you need to make a beautiful cover. There are two different ways, both will be included in this tutorial.


Option 1. I take a circle of binding cardboard, glue pre-prepared circles of scrap paper to it from above and below. I cut out one of the two circles with a margin, which I cut as shown in the photo. After that, I measure the circumference of the future cap and cut a strip of this length from scrap paper. The height of the strip is 2 cm. I process one edge of the strip with an edge hole punch. Then I put the circle on the box, smear the protruding tails with glue and glue the prepared paper strip to the lid. Now the lid fits snugly on the box.


Option 2. At the very beginning, a 0.5 cm high strip is cut off from the tape reel with a breadboard knife. It becomes the basis for the cover. Decorative cardboard is glued on top and on the sides.
The sides of the lid can be made not only from paper, but also with lace, as in the example in the photo.


There is another interesting option on how to make the lid tighter and more reliable. To do this, it is necessary not only to cut off part of the reel, but also to insert a circle of thick gray cardboard into the larger part 1 cm higher than the height of the box itself. It is on this cardboard that the lid will be put on. More on this in the next video.

The box is almost ready. The simplest and most beautiful stage remains - the decor of the lid.

decor ideas

To decorate the lid in any home, you will surely find many suitable materials:


The top box is decorated with a large gray chiffon flower with thin ribbons.
The second is decorated exclusively with scrap paper.
The third box is pasted over with soft felt inside, and outside, instead of paper, the remnants of wallpaper, a velvet ribbon, a small pendant and a large paper flower are taken. A wonderful way to keep small seashells in memory of a summer trip!

Other design ideas
