Masterpieces in crazy wool technique. Crazy Wool technique: a master class for beginners Bolero "Sky Blue"

In this master class, I will show you how to sew a simple jacket with elements of the Crazy Wool technique.

I sew things mainly in the technique of patchwork and crazy-wool.

Master Class:

Materials:

  • microvelveteen (for jacket)
  • yarn (optional - different colors)
  • water-soluble interlining
  • temporary fixative (strong hold hairspray)
  • fabric for decor (any: mesh, ribbons, etc.)
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • threads
  • needles

Size 46, sleeve size: slightly less than a quarter sleeve.

1. For the jacket we use boot cut. This cutting method is attractive for its simplicity. One pattern for all sizes. The cut fits into any width of the fabric, the number of seams is minimal. Ideal for beginning seamstresses.

A standard pattern is easy to find on the Internet.

Suggested sizes: height - 60 cm, sleeve length - 22 cm.

2. Fold the fabric 4 times, cut out.

3. So, the finished pattern.

4. We begin to decorate the jacket.

For this we need:

  • yarn (in this case pink, red, a little blue).
  • water-soluble interlining - this is important. Thanks to him, we will "crazy" our jacket.
  • temporary fixer. This is a strong hold hairspray. The retainer is needed to secure the decor on the jacket.
  • fabric for decor. In this case, it is a shiny transparent mesh.

In the crazy-vul technique, you can add any fabric, ribbons, yarn. You can "release" your fantasy to "freedom" and let it run wild!

5. On the right side of the jacket we create a butterfly appliqué. The body of the butterfly is cut out of fabric. In this case, from a shiny mesh. You can use guipure.

In a circular motion, evenly lay out (draw) the butterfly wings with yarn. On the wings of a butterfly, you can make glare with a cloth.

6. This is how I got the butterfly.

7. We take varnish (temporary fixative). We apply varnish on a butterfly from a distance of 30-40 cm. Not closer - otherwise the drawing will fly off.

8. We wait a bit for the varnish to dry.

Attention! Do not apply interlining immediately: it has the effect of dissolving from moisture.

We impose a water-soluble interlining, suitable in size for a butterfly (I have a square). We smooth and sweep with a thread. We make more stitches so that the pattern does not fall.

9. Edging two shelves with red yarn: first, cut out a strip of interlining, put it on the edge of the shelf (sew by hand). From above we lay out the red yarn, neatly, without visible gaps, the most important thing is that the thread intersects.

We spray everything with varnish (distance 30-40 cm), wait until it dries a little. We cover the top with a strip of the same size. We put the interlining carefully so that the thread does not move.

Non-woven fabric can be ironed with an iron (not very hot). We sew manually up and down!

We do the second shelf in the same way.

10. Similarly, we lay out another butterfly made of fabric (smaller in size) on the second shelf.

11. This is what the jacket looks like before meeting with the sewing machine.

12. We work on a sewing machine: first we sew along the perimeter of the applications so that the pattern does not fall. Next, we sew with a 1-1.5 cm cage.

13. This is what the cell looks like. You need to sew with a continuous thread - this gives the best quality.

14. Appliques can be stitched in a random direction, there should be a lot of stitch intersections.

15. We sew the jacket itself at the seams (only two seams).

16. We remove excess threads. Let's go wash off the interlining.

17. We put a sewn jacket in a container with warm water. Under the action of warm water, the interlining disappears.

18. You need to rinse very well, do not rush!

19. Jacket after drying.

20. We tie the edges of the shelves with a single crochet. We trim the neck with inlay.

21. We hem the bottom of the jacket, make loops, sew on buttons.

The jacket is ready!

In addition to the jacket, you can make a handbag.

I wish you all a great mood, creative victories and unusual beautiful things in your wardrobe!

The author of such an interesting name and the technique itself is Jeannette Knacke. The idea of creating things is to create a non-woven fabric using a thread without knitting needles and a hook, which is then used for stylish things and accessories.

The technique is quite simple, but it requires accuracy and thoughtful actions, and I will describe the principle and procedure of work in more detail later.

Features of technology that can be created

What is the crazy wool technique, you ask? Does it look like knitting or sewing? The answer is no! This is an amazing way to create stylish things and accessories, unlike other types of needlework. With knitting, it is united only by the fact that we use knitting threads and yarn. With sewing in common, you will have to sew a stitch on the machine several times on one part in order to secure the pattern of threads.

With this technique, you can do things with your own hands, such as:

  • scarves and shawls;
  • pullovers and blouses;
  • dresses;
  • skirts;
  • decorate coat.

As well as interesting accessories for home decoration:

  • napkins, tablecloths;
  • decorative pillows, blankets;
  • curtains.

The meaning of the work lies in the fact that from the threads selected by color and texture, it is necessary to lay out a pattern and fix it. So you can create the canvas itself for products or lay out decor on the fabric of an already finished item to decorate it.

Despite the fact that the technique is simple and understandable, it requires the utmost care and attention from the needlewoman. We will consider all stages of the creative process below. For beginners, a video is attached that will definitely help you cope with your first job, and reveal the secrets of mastery.

Preparatory stages: what will be required in the work

Before you start you need to:

  1. Think over and select threads by color and texture. Narrow pieces of fabric are also suitable. You can take wool or cotton with acrylic, the main thing is to understand whether the threads are combined with each other. For one product, you can take from 3 to 5 or 7 types of yarn. The work will take threads several times less than when knitting. It is necessary to choose the main color that will be below and serve as the basis and additional colors and textures with which we will decorate and lay out intricate patterns.
  2. Prepare all materials needed for work. A special basis is a stabilizer in the form of a water-soluble interlining. It is sold in departments with fabrics and accessories or where they sell everything for embroidery. If you plan to decorate ready-made clothes with elements using the crazy vul technique, then these elements are also made not on fabric, but on a special basis, and then attached. A fixative is a compound in a spray can to fix the threads before stitching. It can be replaced with strong hold hairspray.

Of course, you should consider what exactly you want to do. For pullovers, blouses and other items of clothing, you should choose simple patterns.

Progress

For example, consider how to make a blouse using the Crazy Wool technique.

  1. It is important to make a test sample, because the product may shrink after washing. Make a small piece according to the described technology, dry it, measure it before and after, and make a pattern taking into account shrinkage.
  2. Draw a pattern and transfer it to a water-soluble base. Impregnate the stabilizer with a fixative.
  3. Lay the threads on the base in several layers. The first layer is the main one, the next layers can already be laid out with a pattern. Lay the threads randomly and evenly distribute over the entire surface.
  4. Spray again with fixative and cover with a layer of stabilizer.
  5. Lay the lines over the entire surface of the canvas randomly. The distance between the lines should not be more than 1.5 or 2 centimeters.
  6. Soak the finished parts in water until the stabilizer dissolves.
  7. It remains to connect the parts on the machine and process the edges. It can be crocheted.

That's all, the new thing is ready. The main thing is that a little thread and time will be spent on the work.

Alternative solution without water-based base

A wonderful shawl using the crazy vul technique can be made without interlining. Next, a step-by-step master class for working on a shawl is given.

We will need:

  • threads of different colors and textures;
  • mosquito net;
  • glue CMC "Drilling";
  • iron, sponge, scissors and sewing machine.

We do everything according to the principle described above, but we lay out the pattern on a mosquito net. After we close it with another layer of mosquito net and iron it on both sides. After we coat with diluted glue on both sides and dry.

This is the most important step, the product must dry very well. After we tear off the grid and sew over the entire surface.

My dear readers, go for it, create your own style with your own hands and don't be afraid to experiment!

I really hope that my story inspired you to handicraft feats and helped in the implementation of your bold ideas. Share information with friends on social networks and create! Good luck to you!

Hello Hello!
Getting acquainted with the community, I decided to present my handicrafts - bags made of burlap, and of other natural materials. And burlap is my separate, fiery love, well, I’m very partial to it! She is so indifferent that her absence at some point made me persuade my husband, and this is not the easiest occupation, to make me a loom. Having received this miracle (to read without a smile) - indeed a wonderful miracle!, I naturally sat down for weaving. Well, and then it’s clear - weaving a BAG! Rather, a bag made of jute thread (this is the one that is the first in the photo). And only my husband’s thoughts about the delights of house building, apparently inspired by my appearance at the machine, sometimes make me stop for other activities. But the "woven" disease progresses, another bag is woven from strips of fabric - linen and wool (the last photo is a "basket bag"), and the central part of the sun bag is generally a mix, and fabric and threads.

Creative, bright people like the bold “crazy” technique. This is a fabric prepared according to a really "crazy" recipe. In the column "ingredients" is the word "ALL!!!". In the column "how to do" - the word "drive".

Crazy technique can do a lot:

As you can see, the title says it all. Unconnected tissues are connected, sewn together in unthinkable combinations. And they are sometimes decorated with decors that are incompatible with each other. Here everything works for the impression. Things made using the crazy technique will not leave anyone indifferent.

How can you apply this energetic cheerful technique in the interior? Yes, whatever! A few sofa cushions, a tablecloth, a blanket thrown over the sofa will transform, enliven the room, give it dynamics and rejuvenate. From looking at such things, each of which is unique, the mood inexorably moves up the scale. Therefore, the crazy technique is appropriate in the living room, and in the nursery, and in the kitchen. Maybe only incendiary accessories are out of place in the bedroom.

Things in the crazy technique carry a touch of negligence. But only to the level of dynamics, far from negligence. Even if pieces of fabric stick out and threads hang down, it all looks very organic as a whole. Do you know why? Because each accessory is not created in one hour. Even the smallest object contains a lot of creativity and work. And every stroke and color spot is thought out, not thrown carelessly. Masters use all knowledge. Watch - here and quilling, and patchwork, and felting, and embroidery, and painting, and kanzashi ...

Master classes on all these techniques are already posted on our website (see), check it out and start mastering the magical crazy technique!

Let's figure it out right away. There are two subspecies:

1. crazy quilt - “crazy patch”, closer to patchwork.
2. crazy vul.

Crazy simply could not have arisen, because there had to be a counterweight to the strict geometry of classical quilling (see article). Excellent technique, variety of colors and limited movement. Bright shreds are assembled according to a strictly defined pattern. Once this predestination pissed someone off, and the soul rushed to heaven!

Crazy Wool - “crazy thread”, closest to felting. Things are made in these techniques in ways that have nothing in common with each other. But how, how is it done?

Crazy quilt technique

We make the first pillow, or rather a cover. The general principle is this: we cut out the details, focusing on the photo. We sew four identical squares. This will be the outside of the case. And we customize the decor with an absolutely arbitrary line. The freer she is, the more beautiful.

It is better to make several of these pillows in different colors, but keeping the overall pattern. Sew how you want...

We make fabric from threads. There are two ways. Both are tested by craftswomen, both are very interesting to make. Shall we try?

For both methods, threads are needed - knitting yarn, lurex, pieces of cords, braids and everything beautiful, interesting that is at hand. One of them requires a water-soluble base - a special interlining or film. You can find them in craft stores.

Iway. We cut out two identical pieces of the same format as the intended fabric should be. We select yarn of one or more colors, similar or contrasting shades, depending on the design. We cut into pieces cords, braid, brocade, everything that will serve as interspersed decor. Spray the base generously with a temporary fixation spray or just a strong hold hairspray.

There is no difference in functionality in this case, but the difference in money is noticeable. Now we turn on the music necessary to create the appropriate mood. And carefully lay it on a water-soluble film or non-woven threads. After creating the first layer in free order, place the decorative pieces. Continue like this until we almost cover the entire area. That's where the scope for a flight of fancy!

When the level of chaotic beauty is quite pleasing to the eye and soul, sprinkle everything again with hairspray and cover with a second piece. The varnish in this work plays the role of a light glue, so you need to do everything quickly so that it does not have time to dry. As a result, we got such a sandwich for ourselves. It remains to stitch it.

We fill the sewing machine with silk thread and make lines from edge to edge. Be careful not to move the film. You can quilt with small squares, like a quilt, you can scribble with diamonds, zigzags, whatever you like. Particular attention - the edges of the product. But remember that the film is a frame, a lattice on which everything rests. If it is not dense enough, everything will crumble when the base is removed.

The progress of work on the crazy-wool fabric:

When the density of the lattice is sufficient, we move on to the most interesting. We immerse our miracle in a basin of warm water and begin to knead and rub it to help the interlining or film dissolve. This will take several minutes. It remains to rinse in clean soft water and dry, as knitwear is dried: wringing it out slightly and spreading it on a towel or terry sheet. And here it is - the result!

II way
useful if you can not find a water-soluble base in the store. Craftswomen came up with the idea of using ordinary thick film and wallpaper paste. And they use it very well!

The work flow is the same. Thick film or oilcloth does not need to be cut. It must be larger than the estimated size of the product. We spray it with varnish and start laying the threads, as in the first method. When everything is ready, dissolve the instant wallpaper glue. And with the help of a foam rubber sponge, we carefully soak all the work. You need to do this with blotting movements. In no case do not drive the sponge left and right - this can move the threads and ruin the work. When the threads are saturated with glue, you need to give the glue time to dry. This may take several hours. Then we remove the work from the oilcloth substrate and stitch it exactly as in the previous version. Nothing complicated!

And, at the end, we bathe our masterpiece in warm running water until all the glue is washed off. We squeeze, we dry.

Fabrics made using the Crazy Wool technique will be an excellent decor for pillows, photo frames, lampshades, planter covers, and independent panels. It all depends on what kind of thread you will use. Good luck to you, and the flight of the soul!
