To sew a cosmetic bag from leather we will need:

  • white leather 28cm by 35cm;
  • blue leather: 2 pieces 5cm by 6cm and 1 piece 3cm by 10cm;
  • blue zipper – 30cm length;
  • metal ring (half ring) –Ø15mm;
  • leather threads to match the color of the material;
  • transparent waterproof leather glue;
  • hammer with rubber head;
  • pliers or round nose pliers;
  • clothespins (binders).

Description of work

To decorate the cosmetic bag, we sew the stitches with contrasting threads.

We glue together the blue leather parts in half. Fix the edge along the fold lines, tapping it with a hammer. We get 1 piece 1.5cm by 10cm, two pieces 3cm by 5cm. Glue the short sides of the white leather part inward, bending it 1cm. We fix the fold with clothespins.

Attaching the zipper. We fix the edges of the seam with glue.

We sew off the blue parts, and also fix the edges of the seam with glue.

We sew the bent blue pieces on the ends of the fastener.

We glue the edges of the threads. Turn the cosmetic bag inside out and partially open the zipper.

Sew along the sides, leaving the threads free. We mark in the corners a distance of 4 cm.

We clamp the edges of the corners with clothespins, draw a seam line and stitch it. We secure the ends of the threads with double knots and glue them.

We fasten the previously left side seam threads to the door. knot and glue, not reaching 5...7mm to the transverse seam. Trim the corners with a 1cm allowance.

We cut out rectangles for the lining and iron their short edges by 1.5 cm.

We sew the lining, repeating the previous description. We turn the leather part of the cosmetic bag inside out and insert the lining into it. Sew the lining to the main part with a blind seam using
for sewing a regular needle.

We insert the remaining blue leather piece into the ring and glue it together, pressing it with a clothespin. We sew along the edges - see photo. We replace the zipper pendant with a ring with a strap. The leather cosmetic bag is ready!

Keep in mind that when sewing parts from old jeans, it is advisable to immediately process the edges - by serging or gluing (otherwise they will fray). If the color of the fabric has an ethnic theme, finishing the seams with an external contrasting edging will look impressive.

Master class on how to make a cosmetic bag using the example of a nursery

To sew a children's cosmetic bag, you will need cotton with an image of owls (for the outside of the cosmetic bag), finely patterned cotton for the lining, padding polyester or bag interlining and a zipper.

You will also need scissors, thread and a sewing machine.

Cut out rectangles measuring 27x21 cm from two types of cotton and padding polyester.
Baste the padding polyester to the wrong side of the owl cotton.
Take the zipper and place it with the zipper down along one of the short (21 cm) sides of the facing fabric and baste.
Cover the workpiece with lining cotton. Make sure that the pattern on the fabric is at the bottom.
Lay a straight line, connecting two types of cotton, padding polyester and fastener, then cut off the excess padding polyester along the seam.
Turn the fabric inside out and smooth it out. Place a straight line along the snake. This is done so that during use the fabric does not get caught in the fastener.
Now lay the workpiece on the work surface so that the owl design is at the top. Place a snake on the fabric, trim the edges of the parts and cover the fastener with lining fabric.

Make a straight stitch again, connecting all the parts of the cosmetic bag together. Turn the product inside out and sew a straight seam along the other side of the snake.

Now turn the baby cosmetic bag inside out and align the zipper.

Gently bend the corners of the lower base inward by about 2 cm. Secure them with tailor's
pins and place a straight stitch along the base, thereby securing the bottom and corners.

Trim off excess fabric. From lining cotton, cut a rectangle 6 cm wide and a length equal to the length of the base + 3 cm. Iron the long and short sides of the rectangle inward to a depth of 1 cm.
Sew this blank to the cosmetic bag, thereby masking the cut.
Turn out the cosmetic bag. This is what the bottom should look like.
Also bend the corners of the upper base inward and secure them with pins.
Make a loop. To do this, cut a rectangle 7 cm wide and 15 cm long from the fabric with owls.

Iron the long sides of the fabric inward to a depth of 1 cm, then fold the fabric in the middle and sew a straight stitch along the edge.
Secure the loop on the outside of the cosmetic bag using tailor's pins.

And process the cut in the same way as the cut of the lower base.

How to sew a cosmetic bag with a clasp

Women's cosmetic bags with a clasp look very stylish. Of course, the use of such a fastener requires a thoughtful selection of fabric. Too bright, flashy colors will just spoil the impression.

So, we will need:

  • fabric for the main part;
  • for finishing;
  • for internal part;
  • interlining;
  • doublerin;
  • clasp;
  • threads

Progress

We cut out the side and central details of the cosmetic bag. 2 pcs. each with allowances of 6-7mm. The same 4 pieces. from lining fabric without allowances and 4 pcs. from dublerin without allowances.

We prepare the decoration: in our case it is an applique, but you can decorate the products as you wish.

Using an iron, we glue the doubler paper onto the top parts and the interlining onto the applique. We fix the applique in the right place on the main part. We attach it and sew the edges with a decorative seam.

Let's start assembling the cosmetic bag. We chop off the parts of the upper part (it is more convenient to pair the side part and the front part) and sew the outer part. We also sew the inside. At the edges of the allowances we make
cuts so that the allowance does not pull the seam in the finished part. Smooth out the seams.

We insert the lining into the main part with right sides facing each other. We chop off the top and stitch, leaving a gap for turning.

Turn it right side out and sew the gap by hand using a blind stitch. Finding the center of the cosmetic bag. From this place we begin to sew the clasp. It is better to sew with double thread - it will be stronger.
The stitches of the seam should be neat and uniform, it should not be visible that they were sewn by hand.

How to sew a cosmetic bag from leather?

To work with genuine leather, you will need a special Teflon sewing machine foot and a leather needle. Don't forget about leather threads.

If you don't have a whole piece of leather of the right size, you can use several smaller pieces for the main part. Just sew them together, glue the seam allowances to the sides and topstitch using the description of the seams and the method of securing the threads in the master class.

High-quality fittings will make your work look professional. Use a metal zipper and a ring (half ring). Make sure the zipper slider design allows you to replace the harness. You can buy a slider separately and replace it with a zipper that suits you, but don’t forget to check that their sizes match. Make sure that your glue is transparent and waterproof: leather should be included among the materials in its description. Remember not to use pins when working with leather! Binders will help you securely fix the necessary parts. You can also use regular clothespins, but make sure they do not leave marks on the skin.

Uncover

  • White leather 35x28 cm
  • Blue leather: 2 pieces 6x5 cm and 1 piece 3x10 cm
  • Fabric for lining 35x28 cm
  • Zipper 30cm or more
  • Metal ring or half ring 15 mm
  • Leather threads, knife, glue, rubber head hammer, pliers and round nose pliers, binders

Glue the blue leather pieces in half widthwise. Tap the folds with a hammer. You will get 2 pieces 3x5 cm and 1 piece 1.5cmx10 cm. Fold the short sides of the white leather rectangle inward by 1 cm and glue it, pressing the fold with binders or clothespins.

Thread blue threads into the machine. Place the zipper under the short folded edge of the white leather and stitch. Repeat with the other half of the zipper, matching the edges of both zipper pieces. Pull the threads to the wrong side and tie in a double knot. Drop just a little glue on it, wait two to three minutes and cut the threads 2-3 mm from the knot.

Insert white threads into the machine. Sew two pieces of 3x5 cm from blue leather to the thickness of the foot. Pull the threads to the wrong side, tie them in a double knot, add glue and cut. Glue them in half by carefully dropping glue onto the very edge.

Place the blue pieces on the ends of the zipper, aligning the edges. Sew along the edge. Secure the ends of the threads with a double knot and glue.

Turn the resulting rectangle inside out and open the zipper to about halfway. Sew along the sides to the width of your foot, leaving the ends of the threads free! If necessary, trim unnecessary zipper length. Measure 4 cm from each corner and mark it with a pen.

Secure each corner in turn using binders, as shown in the photo. Draw a line at right angles to the stitching from your mark to the fold in both directions.

Secure the threads with a double knot and glue. Pull out the remaining threads of the side seam, not reaching the transverse seam 5-7 mm, secure with a double knot and glue. Trim the corners to within about 1cm of the seam.

Fold the short edges of the rectangle of lining fabric over 1.5 cm and iron.

Turn the cosmetic bag right side out from the leather. Insert a “box” of lining inside.

Sew the lining at the fold to the zipper fabric by hand using a blind stitch.

Insert the remaining blue part into the ring (half ring), drip glue along the edges and glue it together, pressing it with a binder. Topstitch with a rectangle as shown in the photo.

Carefully straighten the loop on the slider with pliers and remove the metal hanger.

Insert the ring in its place. Gently pinch the loop again with the pliers.

A do-it-yourself cosmetic bag pattern with a zipper can be not only a classic rectangular shape, but also a round one. To sew such an original accessory, you don’t need a sewing machine, but you will need:

  • Fabric for the base and lining, matching threads, needle;
  • Lightning;
  • Sheet padding polyester;
  • A small piece of braid (5−7 cm);
  • Two tin lids for preservation;
  • Glue Moment "Gel".

From padding polyester, cut 2 circles 1 cm in diameter larger than the lid. Glue the padding polyester to the lids. Cut two circles from the main fabric, 2-3 cm larger in diameter than the tin base.

Walk along the perimeter of the circle with a small stitch. Place the lid with the padding polyurethane glued into the middle, then pull the thread, tightening the lid. Fix the thread well. Do the same with the second lid. The base is ready.

Tighten the diverging ends of the zipper with a few stitches. Cut a rectangle 3 by 2 cm from the main fabric, fold it first with the edges inward with indentations of 0.5 cm, and iron. After this, fold the piece of fabric in half again and insert the end of the zipper inside. Sew these two pieces together.

The zipper is sewn around the circumference of the base using a hidden stitch. For convenience, you can draw a seam line on the base fabric. The second tip of the zipper is hidden under a piece of fabric sewn to the fastener; a loop of braid is sewn under it.

Cut two pieces from the lining fabric, which are 1 cm in diameter larger than the diameter of the base. Fold the edges inward and sew the lining inside the cosmetic bag with hidden stitches. Working with the lining. Since the zipper is not inserted into this part, but it has a similar slot for the fastener, these edges need to be processed with an open cut, that is, bend the allowance along the line and stitch. Next, all three parts are folded with their right sides inward and stitched around the perimeter. The allowances are notched in the same way as in the main part. The lining is turned inside out and inserted into the main part. These parts are sewn together with a hidden seam. The work is done!

Charming details

Felt leaves are often used for sewing cosmetic bags. The beauty of this material is that its edges do not require additional processing. This is a non-woven material, and its cuts do not fray. You will need:

  • Sheet of felt (40 by 40 cm), matching threads;
  • Velcro tape;

Fold the material along the marked lines and secure with pins. Determine the location for the Velcro fastener. Its length is approximately 2-3 cm. Sew the tape to the marked places. Remove the pins and unfold the material.

Hand sew the lace ribbon with a fine stitch, pull it onto a thread and close it into a rosette circle. Place a piece of lace on the top flap and glue it with a drop of glue. Place several rows of ribbons on top at some intervals. Sew lace and ribbons to the flap. Sew a lace rosette on the left side, and sew several beads and seed beads into its middle.

Fold the felt along the fold lines and pin again. Sew on a machine, indenting the width of the foot. The cosmetic bag is ready.

You can sew a cosmetic bag from old jeans with your own hands in a very short time. In addition, such a thing will organically fit into the image of any fashionista who takes care of all her accessories. You will need:

  • Old jeans (at least one leg);
  • Lightning, threads;
  • Sewing machine and tailoring supplies.

A piece 20-25 cm long is cut from the jeans and ripped at the seams. The resulting pieces are leveled. Next, a zipper is sewn on to connect the two pieces of material.

After this, you need to stitch all the remaining sides. Tassel keychain, clinging to the zipper dog, will decorate and refresh any handbag. It's very easy to do. You will need several skeins of floss in at least three different colors. Remove the packaging from one skein and, using the other two colors, make an even winding in the center. Then this entire thread winding is folded in half and secured with another winding. The lower ends are beautifully cut, and a ring is inserted into the upper loop, through which the keychain clings to the bag.

  • a piece of thick cotton or linen fabric measuring 17x26 cm
  • red cotton for applique and loop
  • cotton with red polka dots size 16x24 cm for lining
  • brass carabiner
  • ring
  • red zipper

From thick cotton (double-thread), cut out two rectangles measuring 17x13 cm.

Also cut out 2 rectangles from polka dot cotton, but measuring 16x12 cm.

Make a heart-shaped applique on one of the outer parts of the Valentine's handbag.

To do this, cut out a heart from a red floral fabric, carefully baste or glue it onto a “web” to the base and lay a zig-zag seam along the edge, 4 mm long and 2 mm wide. Pull the threads inside out and secure with several knots.

Now work on the zipper. In order for the bag to open comfortably, the clasp should be 1.5 cm shorter than the length of the upper base.

In this case, the base is 17 cm, the seam allowance is 1 cm, therefore, the length of the snake should be 12 cm (17-1x2-1.5x2).

Finish the edges of the fastener. To do this, cut out a rectangle measuring 5x6 cm from the same cotton as the applique. Fold it inward 1-1.5 cm and iron the long sides of the rectangle:

Then fold the workpiece in the middle and iron it again.

Insert a fastener into the middle of the textile fastener and sew a straight stitch along its edge. Process the second edge of the zipper in the same way.

At the next stage, you need to sew the clasp to the base and lining of the Valentine cosmetic bag.

To do this, place the outer part of the handbag on the table with the heart facing up. Place the zipper on it, aligning the edges, with the zipper down:

And then - the lining, pattern down.

Stepping back a few millimeters from the edge, lay a straight seam (stitch width 3 mm), thereby connecting all the details of the “Valentine”.

Turn the piece over and align the wrong sides of the lining and the right side. Step back 2-3 mm from the edge and make a straight seam.

This seam ensures that neither the lining piece nor the facing fabric will be caught in the clasp when unbuttoned.

Following the stated principle, sew the clasp to the second side of the bag.

Prepare a loop for the carabiner. To do this, cut out a rectangle 25 cm long and 5 cm wide from floral fabric. Press the long sides of the rectangle inward 1 cm, fold it in the middle, and place a straight seam along the open edge. Attach the carabiner to the tape.

Make a blank for the ring in the same way, but 5 cm long. Insert the ring into it and secure it with a tailor's pin on the front side of the handbag.

At the final stage, combine the details of the front part and the lining with the pattern facing inwards, not forgetting to unfasten the clasp.

Place a straight stitch around the perimeter of the workpiece, leaving a 5-7 cm hole unsewn on the lining.

At the corners of the “valentine”, align the side seam and the base seam and lay a straight line 3 cm long perpendicular to them.
