Knitted poncho for a girl 5 years old. Knitted poncho for girls. Pattern for lazy knitters

Hello my dear!

Looking through the materials of foreign sites for the preparation of another article in the heading "Knitting ideas from around the world", I looked at such an interesting poncho for a baby.

What I especially liked about it is that it is quite simple to knit it, even a beginner knitter can master it. And it looks interesting. Maybe that's why there are so many different versions of it on the Internet.

I will try to tell you about a universal way to knit a children's poncho with knitting needles. Universal because this description is suitable for knitting such a poncho of any size. Although this model, in my opinion, is most suitable for a child aged 6 months to 2 years.

So, first you need to choose high-quality soft yarn, preferably bulky. For knitting this poncho, the simplest patterns are used - stocking knitting and tangle. And the simpler the pattern, the better and smoother the yarn should be so that the product looks neat.

The original is made on knitting needles No. 5. But if your yarn is not very thick, you can take smaller knitting needles, for example, No. 3.5 or No. 4.

We knit a sample from the selected yarn stocking stitch, close the loops and subject the sample to a wet-heat treatment (either wash and dry, or lightly steam through a damp cloth). This is necessary in order to correctly calculate knitting density.

Calculation of the number of loops

Now let's measure the circumference of the baby's head, if you are going to make a poncho without a fastener. Stretch the knitted sample slightly in width, as if you were pulling the product over your head - so as not to pull too hard, but not to dangle. And in such a normally stretched position of the sample, we measure the knitting density horizontally.

Suppose that your knitting density in this state is horizontally equal to 12 loops in 10 cm, and the circumference of the head, for example, is 44 cm. We make a simple calculation: 44 cm x (12 p.: 10 cm) = 52.8 p. C with a small increase, to approach an even number, you need to dial 54 loops. Of course, you will have your own calculation of loops.

Description of work

Main part of the product

After the calculation has been made on circular knitting needles, we collect the required number of loops and connect them in a circle.

We will knit in a circle. This is very convenient, because with this knitting method, all rows are knitted on the front side of the work. And what I like is that you don’t need to sew later!

Knitting will be divided into 2 parts: stripes will pass in the center of the front and back to expand the product by adding loops.

Again, a simple calculation for our example: 54 p. : 2 = 27 p. Goes to one part. We take 6 loops on the central strip: 27 - 6 = 21. You, of course, substitute your numbers.

  • Note: The number of loops for the central strip can be changed to your liking: you can take both 4 loops and 8. It seemed to me that 6 loops is the best option.

Let's start knitting. We knit the first row with facial loops. We knit the second row using the previously made calculation. We distribute the loops and knit as follows: reverse yarn over, 6 facial loops of the central strip, reverse yarn over, 21 facial, reverse yarn over, 6 facial, reverse yarn over, 21 facial. Everything - a breakdown of the number of loops was done.

Then everything is simple: in the next row, we knit the yarn over with crossed facial loops (if we did the reverse yarn, that is, from ourselves, then the front crossed loop will need to be knitted behind the front wall, like all the front loops of the row with circular knitting), the rest are all loops we knit facial.

  • Note: If you need to know in more detail everything about the crochets and crossed loops - click here.

We continue to knit, making additions through the row: in one row along the edges of the central strip we make crochets, in the next row we knit them with crossed loops.

So knit to the length you need. Focus on the length of the child's arm. Just do not forget that on the bottom you will need to make another edging from several rows of confusion, and also take into account the density of knitting vertically, focusing on your sample.

On the bottom we knit 5-7 rows with a patchwork pattern without adding loops. We alternate: 1 facial, 1 purl loop. In the next row - the same, only in a checkerboard pattern. After knitting the required number of rows, we freely close all the loops.

Hood and assembly

We cast on the number of loops equal to half of the number that you cast on at the very beginning (in our example 54: 2 = 27). If you don’t want to, or it’s difficult for you to bother with adding - decreasing loops for a more complex shape of the hood, just knit an even rectangle.

The whole hood can be knitted st front stitch, only on the left side for beauty, knit about loops 7-9 garter stitch.

At the same time, it is better to knit the edge loops on the left side not with purl, but with front loops to get a knotted edge (for more details, see this article).

You can knit the entire hood with a patchwork pattern. And you can leave a garter stitch on the left side, make a part of the tangle along the bottom, and make the middle part of the front surface. Everyone does according to their taste and desire.

We knit a rectangle of the desired height, fold in half face inward, sew. We sew a hood into the neck.

If desired, you can decorate the poncho to somehow revive it. Can tie cord and attach it to the neck. Decorate the ends of the cord pom-poms. You can make bright embroidery somewhere on a poncho - it all depends on your imagination and desire.

OK it's all over Now. As you can see, the process of making such a poncho is quite simple.

Dear knitters, I have a big request for you. If you knit according to this description, it would be very interesting to know what and how you did it, and what changes, or “zest” you made on your own. The description of the work I compiled based on the materials of the site www.garnstudio.com just by looking at the photo.

For ages 1 to 3
To knit a poncho with knitting needles, we need:
- 150 grams of white yarn (Gjestal Superwash Sport, 50 gr = 100 m);
- 200 gr. yarn “Grass” pink (Gjestal Orkide, 50 gr. = 85 m.);
- pink beads for decoration;
- knitting needles No. 2.5 and 3;
- hook number 3.
Description of knitting:
1. Dial 128 loops with white thread and knit in a circle with an elastic band 1 by 1 for about 12-14 cm of the neck;
2. Knit all stitches as follows: *purl 2, knit 6*. Repeat * 16 times. Knit in the same way 6 circular rows. [=128 stitches]
3. In the next row, knit the weave of braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 2 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 front loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 front loops, 3 front loops from an additional knitting needle , 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=160 stitches]
4. Knit the next 7 rows, repeating *purl 4, knit 6* (repeat * 16 times in each row) [= 160 loops]
5. Knit the weave of braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 4 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 front loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 front loops, 3 front loops from an additional knitting needle, 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=192 stitches]
6. Knit the next 7 rows, repeating *purl 6, knit 6* (repeat * 16 times on each row) [= 192 loops]
7. Knit the weave of the braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 6 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 front loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 front loops, 3 front loops from an additional knitting needle, 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=224 stitches]
8. Knit the next 7 rows, repeating *purl 8, knit 6* (repeat * 16 times on each row) [=224 loops]
9. Knit the weave of braids and add 1 loop to the left and right of each braid: * 8 purl loops, 1 yarn over, remove 3 front loops on an additional knitting needle and place before work, 3 front loops, 3 front loops from an additional knitting needle, 1 yarn over *. Repeat * 16 times. [=256 stitches]
10. Knit next 5 rows, repeating *purl 10, knit 6* (repeat * 16 times on each row) [=256 sts]
11. Next, knit according to the scheme, continuing to make increases in every 8th row.
Figure 1. The scheme of the transition from the pattern "Braids" to knitting "Grass" (click to enlarge)
Knit the “Bumps” pattern as follows (click on the picture to enlarge):
12. Divide all knitting into 4 parts (front, back, 2 sleeves) for 96 loops and knit each part separately, continuing to make increases, to the desired length.
In order for each part to turn out to be semicircular, it is necessary to knit in short rows, i.e. in each row, untie a few loops and start each next row with a crochet.
You can read more about knitting in short rows here.

Note!
1. The length of the product after knitting in short rows should be 3-4 cm less than the required length of the product in finished form, since then it will be necessary to knit several smoothing rows around the entire circumference of the product and crochet the product around the edge.
2. The back must be knitted 3-5 cm longer than the front.
13. After all parts of the poncho are knitted to the desired length, it is necessary to knit a smoothing row, connecting the yarn overs and adjacent loops together.
Note!
1. In order not to form holes between the loops on the left side of the back (front or sleeve), the yarn must be knitted together with the next loop, and on the right side - together with the previous one.
2. The smoothing row can pull the product together, so I recommend knitting together with the adjacent loop only every second yarn over.
14. Knit 3-4 more rows around the entire circumference of the poncho.
15. Close all loops (you can close the loops with a hook).
16. Crochet the poncho around the edge according to the pattern
17. Crochet flowers: close 3 air loops into a ring and knit 12 single crochets. Knit the second row, alternating single crochets and arches of 2 air loops.
18. Sew flowers along the edge of the poncho, decorate the product with beads.

Knitted ponchos and capes still do not lose their relevance. These are quite comfortable and beautiful products that can transform the appearance of any woman, making her more fashionable and stylish.

Depending on the type and composition of the yarn used, knitting ponchos can be designed for:

  • Everyday wear, making a worthy competition to any warm outerwear. To do this, you need to purchase threads of suitable thickness, consisting of 100% wool: the thicker the yarn, the more voluminous the finished product will look. Products with aran look especially beautiful;
  • For the holidays, becoming a great addition to any evening dress. For such products, it is preferable to use thinner yarn and knitting needles so that the product looks as delicate as possible.

Even a beginner knitter can knit ponchos and capes with knitting needles. A detailed description, accompanied by appropriate diagrams, will allow you to cope with even a fairly complex pattern. In this case, you do not have to think about the number of loops that you need to add in order to get a pancho or cape of the required size. Moreover, such a scheme is presented absolutely free of charge when you go to the corresponding page.

Yarn: Nako BonBon Kristal 100% acrylic, 100 gr./610 m. - knitting goes in three strands, and the thickness will be 100 gr./203 m, Color 98203
Yarn consumption: 100 g
Tools: circular needles No. 6.5, stocking needles No. 4
Knitting density of the main knitting: horizontally Pg = 1.5 loops in 1 cm
Poncho size: 1.5-2 years old

How to knit a poncho with knitting needles? It's not difficult at all. We bring to your attention a master class with step-by-step photos on making a poncho for a girl with knitting needles. We will knit it in the same way as raglan is knitted, from the neck. Despite the fact that this poncho has an aran pattern, even a beginner can knit it.

Note: for a children's poncho, choose acrylic yarn. It consists of 2 soft threads - this is important. In the bag, the yarn will consist of 6 threads - thanks to which, the yarn will lay down beautifully, and the poncho will be much thicker and more magnificent than just yarn with a thickness of 100 gr. / 203 m.

How to knit a poncho with knitting needles - step by step instructions

Sleeves

  1. In the first row of knitting, you need to cross the first and last loops - this is shown in the video.
  2. We knit in a circle with an elastic band 1 * 1 - 6 rows.

    Please note: for the sleeves, I took stocking knitting needles No. 4 and a thread in two additions, and not in three, as for the main knitting.

  3. We close the loops.
