Learning to knit a cover for a heating pad. Covers for heating pads. We sew and do not get sick! Cover from an old sweater

If it suddenly becomes cold at home and you need to warm up quickly, then a rubber heating pad, familiar to everyone since Soviet childhood, will help. I suggest you sew a cover for it, and the heating pad will surely become your favorite, which you will no longer hide in the closet. After all, just looking at this cozy little thing becomes warmer.

The cover will be made in country style. The impression that he comes from some Alpine village is achieved through the choice of fabric - an unusually soft and pleasant to the touch felted wool and the way the seams will be made - deliberately thick and contrasting (in relation to the fabric) threads on the front side.

So, for the cover we need:
- rubber heating pad
- felted wool
- small embroidered motif. Here is an embroidery design from Sisters and best friends
- a piece of synthetic winterizer
- thick threads (when using floss, it is optimal to sew in four threads)

Let's prepare the pattern. To begin with, we put a heating pad on a sheet of paper and trace its contours. We circle the already obtained drawing again, retreating outward about 2 centimeters from the original one (there is no need to repeat all the smallest bends of the heating pad, the drawing can be simplified). Cut out what we got. Fold the pattern in half lengthwise and check its symmetry. If necessary, trim with scissors. We pin the pattern with pins to the wool and cut out two identical parts.

Sew on an embroidered motif. First, we turn the edges of the fabric with embroidery on the wrong side, after making several perpendicular notches around the circumference. We iron. We put a synthetic winterizer under the fabric (thanks to the synthetic winterizer, the embroidery will look more voluminous) and sew it to one of the details of the future cover with an overcast seam. To do this, fold the thread in half and thread both ends into the needle. At the other end of the thread, a loop (= fold of the thread) turned out. Insert the needle into the fabric from the wrong side at a distance of about 5 mm from the edge of the fabric. We remove the needle from the front side, thread it into the loop and tighten. We continue to sew stitches at the same distance from each other until the entire circle is sewn.

Now let's sew the cover. We fold the details of the cover with the wrong sides to each other, chop off with pins and sew from the front (!) Side. We sew with the same seam with which the part with embroidery was sewn and use the same thread thickness. We start from the upper right corner of the cover and move in a circle. A few centimeters before the end, we put in a heating pad and finish sewing the cover already with a heating pad inside. The upper sections (neck) are not sewn together, but are only sheathed with an overcast seam each separately.

It remains to pour hot water into the heating pad and enjoy the heat!

In a decorative terry cloth case, even the most ordinary heating pad will look special!

You will need:

Pieces of blue and yellow terry cloth;

Elastic band 0.30 m, width 7 mm.

From each fabric, cut out 2 rectangles equal in size to a heating pad plus allowances around the perimeter with a width of approx. 2.5 cm.

Bag tailoring:

1. Fold both rectangles from each fabric with their right sides, slightly round the lower corners and stitch the longitudinal and lower short sections at a distance of 1 cm, while leaving the inner parts open: in one of the side seams, a 1 cm long section for threading an elastic tape (on 7 cm below the top edge of the pouch) and a section in the middle of one of the side seams, approx. 8 cm for eversion.

2. Pull the inner bag on the outer front side to the front side and stitch the upper sections at a distance of 1 cm. Turn the bags right through the open area in one of the side seams of the inner part. Sew up the open seam. Insert the inner bag into the outer one, topstitch at a distance of 1 cm.

Covers for heating pad job description:

dial with a triple thread 32 sts, distribute the loops on 4 knitting needles (= 8 sts on the knitting needle) and knit in a circle with the front stitch, marking the transition from row to row. After 24 cm = 34 p. from the beginning of knitting, start decreasing loops to form a “neck”: on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, knit the 1st stitch, knit the next 2 stitches together with a slope to the left, the rest of the knitting needles: on the 2nd and 4th knitting needles knit a row to the last 3 p., then knit 2 p. together with the front one, knit the last loop with the front one = 4 p. decreased in the row. Repeat these decreases in the next 2nd p. = 24 p. Then 1 p. Knit without decrease and continue knitting with an elastic band. After 8 cm = 10 p. from the beginning of the gum, close all the loops. Insert the heating pad into the cover through the open bottom and sew the bottom seam.

Girls, I propose to sew such a cover for a heating pad! This was ordered by my daughter)) Everything was sewn in 2.5 hours, including the moment of designing the pattern and manual overcasting (but more on that below). I looked around here for toy cases and couldn't find them! Looked on the Internet - did not like. There are a lot of photos, because I thought, suddenly someone doesn’t know how to sew a toy)) Since there are those who wish, let’s get started)) So, I had a heating pad bought at a pharmacy - below you will see it, and panties from fluffy pajamas 42r-ra. The pajama was bought, but the girl did not fit and got to me! From that pajama for 600 rubles, I already sewed boots with ears, a Sonya doll, now, here, a little case, and I still have left! The panties were photographed, but the photo was deleted somewhere ((I wanted to show you what was and what else is left! What am I all about? And besides, it turns out to be a very budgetary gift! Oh, yes, there are still small pieces from the white sleeves on ears and Velcro bite!

For the sample, this dog downloaded from the Internet was knitted! It's just a toy, but we need to fit it under a heating pad!

I circled the heating pad on the remnants of the self-adhesive - it was not even unpacked - it was a gift)) I figured out the dimensions. All by eye.

Here, I cut out the details - it’s more visible! I dictate from top to bottom from left to right)) Tail - 2d, torso - 2d, paws - 8d, chin - 1d, nape 2 sides and 1 central, forehead 1d, muzzle - 1d, ear - 4d.

Here, I laid it out on panties - I ripped the panties along the crotch seam. Nearby you can see a piece from the sleeves, which went to the ears))

We cut out all the details from the pants with allowances, only we make 2 ears - fluffy, 2 - white (any). Here I should note that I had white knitwear - it would be better if I took the usual thin one from the diaper! the ears turned out to be a little harsh ((You can see next - trimmings and the rest of the pants! Still enough for Sonya;) That's how economical!

First, we sew the ears in pairs, turn them inside out

sew to the center of the forehead the central wedge from the back of the head. on the forehead along the edges of the seam we cut a little.

We insert the ears into the incisions and sew to the central wedge of the back of the head, crawling out a little onto the forehead (to the depth of the incisions). This is so that the ears are not on the back of the head, but on the sides.

Here, I tried to show - from above, this is the forehead! it can be seen that the ear is sewn to the central part of the back of the head and to the forehead! This will make the forehead more convex, due to the resulting darts)

Sew the details of the back of the head to its central part

sew the muzzle to the details of the forehead, do not touch the chin))

And now we connect the sides of the back of the head with the frontal part - be careful with the ears! do not stitch in the sides))

Well, here we go! already handsome;)

We stuff synthetic winterizer or whatever you have there in the face and begin to embroider eyes. the usual looped seam .. by the way. peephole and 4 threads can not be seen! Maybe. woolen I will try - if I have time))

Well, here we are already sleeping! The second is completely hidden in the wool))

The nose is a knitted circle. Slightly larger than the lens cap)

we sew the needle around the circumference with a seam forward, pull it together, stuff it and sew it with a hidden seam in place)

The details of the paws and tail, if desired, are stuffed and laid out on the front of the tummy like this. I didn’t fasten it with anything, but you can baste it with pins - whoever is used to it

The back of my leg is cut out from the bottom of the legs - it is hemmed there)) It was me who worried about the pocket, somehow I need to stuff the heating pad there;) The principle is like a pillowcase!

In this sandwich, the detail of the tummy is below, then the paws and tail, and on top I placed the details of the back! My parts came out different, so I planned to sew the part that was a little smaller in the thoracic region. She was attached first, and then she attached the bottom! Let's start scribbling around the perimeter! At the time of the zigzag stitching, my needle broke - the paw is too thick or I'm crooked)) I was too lazy to change and I swept further by hand!

I twisted it, put my head on - nice)) Now you can sew it around the entire circumference of the fit with a hidden seam))

That's how I sewed Velcro! By the way, this could have been done before the sandwich was swept away ((but, I was too lazy to stomp into the pantry, look for a bag with Velcro! I was in a hurry to sew!)) I still had to stomp later, but the needle had already broken by that time and had to be sewn with handles))

Girls, I must confess that I have never been a seamstress! I am a mechanical engineer)) But after reading various sewing manuals, I worked out a convenient way for me to sew this toy)) I didn’t have any ready-made patterns and I don’t know where to download them! It was easier for me to design it myself, looking at the picture) I do not pretend to know-how, authorship, or innovation! Simply, I didn’t find this here and decided to describe in detail HOW I DID IT! I did this thing for the first time, including .. if there was a section where newcomers share their thoughts, I would shove it there, otherwise ... Sorry, if I offended anyone in the best feelings - I didn’t want to)) Chesslovo;) In conclusion, I want to say that I am almost satisfied with my first experience. Of course, I would like the ears to be fuller)) Well, I missed it .. I proceeded from the presence of a white knitwear;) And still she is cute! I wish you all a successful New Year! More health and happiness!

Cover for heating pad "Cat".

Materials:
Unspun wool in different colors.
The synthetic winterizer is quilted.
Velcro fastener.
.

Tools:
Needles for felting wool, bubble wrap, nylon mosquito net, marker, large car sponge, spray bottle.

1. To make the back part, place the pattern under the bubble wrap, lay small strands of wool of different colors horizontally on top of each other. Wool must be laid out with a small margin for shrinkage, retreating from the edge of the pattern 2-3 cm.

2. Lay out the next layer of thin strands of yellow wool in a horizontal direction, then in a vertical direction. Lay out 5-6 layers of yellow wool, alternating the direction of the fibers in the layers.

3. Remove the pattern, cover the entire workpiece with a nylon mosquito net and moisten it thoroughly with warm water from a spray bottle. Then take your soap and lather the surface thoroughly. Lightly, effortlessly, but for quite a long time, stroke the workpiece with your palms, trying not to displace the layers of wool under the Net. In order to felt the wool until a single yellow web is formed, it is necessary to “wash” it very well.

4. Remove the grid. Turn the canvas over to the other side, straighten it. Apply the mesh again and wet the surface. Repeat the steps described in paragraphs. 4 and 5. Remove the mesh and roll the wool well in a circular motion with your hands. Rinse the workpiece in warm water, wring it out and lay it out to dry. To make a canvas for the front part and parts of the paws, tail and ears, repeat the steps from step 2. after placing the film.

5. Fold the front and back parts together with the right sides inward, pin them together with pins. Put the pattern on the blanks again and circle it with a marker. Then cut off the excess with scissors. Similarly, open 2 parts of the front paws from the remnants of the canvas. hind legs, tail and ears.

6. Sew the front and back pieces folded together on the sewing machine, leaving the bottom edge open. Open and sew the lining in the same way. Sew a Velcro fastener to the bottom edge on the front side, stepping back 1 cm from the edge. Turn the workpiece inside out, insert the lining into it Attach the lining from the inside to the main part so that the lining does not turn inside out when using the product Turn the lower open sections inward and hem them by hand.

In winter, sometimes there is not enough precious heat. It is not surprising that at this time people subconsciously seek to warm themselves in all possible ways: they sit by the burning fireplace in the evenings, often use an electric heater. The best friends in winter and off-season are warm woolen socks, a cozy blanket and a cup of fragrant herbal tea.

However, there is a worthy alternative to all the above methods, which, unfortunately, few people remember lately. We are talking about a regular rubber heating pad. This accessory perfectly warms and helps to relax without any special costs and problems.

How to get the most out of your heating pad

In addition to the desired warmth, generously given to a chilled body, a heating pad is an effective assistant in the treatment and prevention of colds and bruises. It will also be useful for people suffering from arthritis and arthrosis, acting as a source of dry heat, which is necessary in the treatment of traditional medicine.

So it turns out that it’s good to have a few useful accessories at your disposal, especially if the temperature regime in your home is far from optimal. One is useful for warming cold hands, the other at this time can be thrown to frozen feet. An occasional guest or best friend who often pops in for a cup of tea is also worth thinking about.

Pet owners know another unusual way to use a heating pad. A capricious cat or a heat-loving decorative dog suffering from temperature changes will appreciate your care if you put a heating pad filled with hot water under its mattress. You can put it directly on the sunbed, having previously packed it in a cover for a heating pad.

This accessory protect against accidental burns, if the water is too hot and does not cause unpleasant moments when the skin comes into contact with a cooled heating pad. In addition, touching a textile or knitted material is much more pleasant than feeling the texture of a rubber surface. In addition, a heating pad in a cover decorated with appliqué embroidery or made in patchwork style looks great on the bed. It looks especially impressive in the interior of the chalet, organically complementing the decor of the room.

A case made of suitable material can be purchased at the Westwing Shopping Club. At the same time, experts will help you choose other textile accessories for the home that are combined with each other and add coziness and sweet charm to the room.

Enthusiast-needlewomen who prefer to decorate their homes on their own will not resist the temptation to make covers for a heating pad with their own hands. It can be sewn, crocheted or knitted. This does not require special skills, since a useful accessory is extremely simple and fast. At the same time, you can use things that are out of fashion and lie in the house as an unnecessary burden to make a man-made masterpiece.

Great idea for knitting lovers

Since the rubber surface of useful accessories does not cause joy to delicate skin, it is worth placing it in a practical cover that will help your legs to warm up evenly and slow down the cooling of water in the heating pad. The best option for this is a knitted cover for a heating pad, knitted or crocheted from voluminous textured yarn. It perfectly matches the contours of the accessory, repeating its few curves. If you have never held knitting needles in your hands, do not despair. Using the garter stitch, which hides the inevitable mistakes of beginners, you can quickly knit a cozy and cute accessory.

This knitting not only masks small imperfections, but also creates a loose fabric, the loops of which can be easily pulled apart. This is very important for beginners taking the first steps in mastering knitting techniques. In this way, it will be possible to form loops without knitting them, as experienced craftswomen usually do. They, as a rule, knit a fabric that clearly repeats the outlines.

Beginning knitters can knit a regular rectangular fabric, twice the size of the accessory. Sewn on the sides and finished with buttons at the bottom, it will miraculously turn into a cute DIY case. The plastic and soft design will easily take its shape as a heating pad and will delight you on cool evenings.

Cover from an old sweater

If you flatly refuse to knit, you can make a knitted model using a finished knitted fabric. A warm sweater with a collar that you have not worn for several seasons is ideal for this. Forgotten clothes have a unique chance to appear again in all their glory, turning into a stylish outfit for a rubber heating pad.

The easiest way to sew the cover implies that you have a sewing machine (if you don’t have one, you can get by with a thread and a needle), scissors, a strong thread and a pair of buttons to match the product. You can, without opening the sweater at the side seams, lay it out in two layers. Next, place a heating pad on it, aligning the hole for filling with water with the neck of the sweater. Circle the contours of the product with chalk, cut out the fabric, adding 15-20 mm markings along the contour. Add at least 40 mm at the bottom.

You will get two parts interconnected along the former shoulder seams of the sweater. Hem the lower parts of the design, tucking them on the wrong side. Turn the design inside out, connect the sides using a sewing machine or by hand. Turn it right side out, steam it with an iron. Sew buttons at the bottom and make loops for them from thick threads. A cute sweater for a heating pad is ready.

How to sew yourself

A rubber heating pad in “clothes” looks stylish and attractive. It can not only be knitted, but also sewn from a warm dense fabric. For experienced tailors, this will take about an hour, novice needlewomen will have to devote a little more time to this process.

Please note that in the winter, when the heating pad is used to the maximum, there are many holidays. This is the beloved New Year, and bright Christmas, and the romantic holiday of all lovers. It is enough to decorate the covers with a suitable motif, for example, a Christmas tree, a Christmas star or a pretty heart, and you have a themed gift ready for the upcoming holiday. Use sequins, beads, buttons, lace for decoration. You can embroider a fragment or make a beautiful appliqué. A bright composition made in the actual patchwork technique will become a real hit.

For a warm textile case, you will need felt, scissors, a needle and thread.

  1. Draw a cover pattern, for which, circle the contours of the heating pad on paper. Attach a paper pattern to the felt, pin them with tailor's pins. Add 15 mm along the contour, 45 mm below. Cut out a one-piece piece. Cut the second in half, while lengthening each part by 30mm.
  2. Stitch the open ends of the small pieces by folding them inside out. Chip them off with a scent.
  3. Connect the one-piece and two-piece parts, chop and sew along the contour from the wrong side. Iron and turn right side out. Gorgeous do-it-yourself heating pad is ready!

The heating pad is a very functional accessory. Make it with your own hands, decorate it with attractive decor and enjoy the warmth provided by a useful device.
