Products from soutache and beads. Features of soutache embroidery: a beautiful decoration with your own hands. I will not repeat, everything is sheathed as in the beginning

Then it gradually lost its popularity, and from the 19th century it began to revive and even stood out as a separate direction. The name of this technique is based on the material with which the products are created. This is a soutache - a silk braid, which consists of two silk cords interconnected by a braid, most often viscose. The color of the braid and the cord itself must be the same.

Thanks to the recess, which is located in the middle of the braid, they can be sewn together in alternating colors. At the same time, the seam fits perfectly and hides in this recess.

Why is soutache used? He is very obedient in his work due to his flexibility. The soutache is quite thin and flat, which allows it to fit perfectly on the fabric, or to be fastened together for jewelry. And also the soutache itself is very beautiful, it is shiny and smooth.   • Cabochon;
  • Fine needle;
  • Beads, beads;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue;
  • Sheet of paper and pen;
  • A piece of felt and leatherette or leather.

First you need to draw a detailed sketch of the pendant.

Now the cabochon is glued to the felt, and it is cut in a circle, leaving half a centimeter around the edge of the cabochon.

Prepare two pieces of soutache approximately 15 cm each. The edges of the soutache must be fixed either with glue, or simply burned slightly. After the glue has dried, the soutache cord is sewn to the felt around the cabochon one at a time with small stitches.

The remaining tails of the cord are fastened together by adding a bead in the middle.

Now the soutache is folded over and the beads are sewn on, sticking the needle on one side into the base, on the other side into the braid.

Thus, the entire cabochon is sheathed in a circle.

In the same technique, all the details of the future pendant are created.

Now they are all fastened together with seams, and also fixed on the inside of the pendant.

The last step in creating the piece is gluing a piece of leather or leatherette to the underside of the pendant to give it a neat look. All pendant is ready.

Soutache jewelry embroidery is a great way to turn your old clothes into smart and fashionable ones, and this technique is also used for handbags, shoes, and even beautiful handmade jewelry.

The soutache is used to create all kinds of volumetric details, with and without the use of fabric for attaching the soutache. A three-dimensional element, created without a base, is formed with the help of soutache coils, closely laid and fixed with invisible seams.

In creativity, a special narrow ribbon is used - soutache. With the help of a thin needle and transparent threads, the soutache is attached to the fabric base, connecting with each other and forming voluminous beautiful weaves. Wonderful floral patterns are created by continuous zigzag lines. It is characterized by laying out a pattern along the outline with a braid sewn with inconspicuous seams.

Soutache cord

Soutache is used in embroidery, because this rope is thin, plastic, fits well, and is easy to work with. Such a braid consists of several cords fastened with a thin winding. The ribbon includes a hole in the central part between two laces. In the resulting recess, a needle will subsequently be stuck to fix the rope on the fabric.

Variety:

  • cotton;

  • silk;

  • synthetic;

  • viscose.

Manufacturers produce them in a variety of colors.

The surface of the cord is made shiny and smooth, so the ornaments created in this way look very elegant and attractive. Fine needles are used for such extravagant sewing. Experienced needlewomen opt for thin and strong threads that match the tone of the main working material. For beginners who want to learn the soutache technique, needlewomen recommend getting a hoop, although they themselves have not used them for a long time.

Earrings in soutache technique

Earrings made by this method look unusually beautiful.

Sewing is done with simple types of hand stitches. The most commonly used seam "forward needle" with a small step. Soutache embroidery is more and more popular with young girls, and they are happy to learn how to work on such an exquisite embroidery process.

Simple stitches and the flexibility of the working material, the rapid filling of a vast area with an ornament attracts not only needlewomen, but also new craftswomen. The desire to make something unusual and individual with your own hands, to give charm to the product, unites amateurs and beginners. The splendor and elegance of soutache jewelry captivates and arouses the interest of art connoisseurs.

Let's learn in detail how to make earrings.

Working process of making earrings

For the implementation of creative work, we need the following materials:

  • Fabric base.

  • Soutache cord.

  • Thin beaded needle.

  • Beads.

  • Stones.

  • Felt or leather flap.

  • Scissors.

  • Scheme.

  • Copy paper.

  • Candle or glue.

Before making textile earrings, the prepared pattern is transferred to the canvas using carbon paper or a special marker. The ornament is chosen continuously, without cutting the cord. You can use Richelieu embroidery, and other well-known patterns. An uninterrupted ornament makes it possible to create the impression of a continuous openwork and eliminates the need to hide the ponytail. The delamination of cut satin soutache cord is prevented by cauterization over a candle or by treatment with a transparent adhesive that does not leave marks.

The working thread is fixed with several small seams in the area, which, during manipulations, will be covered with a sewn-on braid.

When performing stitches, we stick the needle vertically, in order to avoid horizontal movement of the rope relative to the base, and distortion of the product. The thread should be moderately free - not overtightened and not sagging. And the locking stitch will be invisible and neat. We carefully monitor that the cord does not stick out at the points of a sudden inflection. Therefore, the completed turns are well fixed between themselves with invisible thread seams.

All voluminous crafts are made up of individual parts. The manufacturing process of volumetric elements consists in the fact that the ribbon is set “on edge”, and at the moment of fixing to the canvas, it is placed in parallel, tightly pressing against the fabric. The curls are connected to each other by alternately pinning them in order of placement. In the process of manipulation, several used threads with individual needles are used.

The basis is felt fabric or leatherette, and an important purpose of the described materials is decoration, which consists in the need to hide the inside of a homemade craft and make it attractive.

Having dealt with the theory, the method of connecting the turns and armed with perseverance and determination, even a novice needlewoman can cope with a narrow cord. Use a variety of additional details in the manufacture: beads, cabochons, beads and other decor. Earrings, necklaces, brooches enchant with their beauty. The main advantage is uniqueness and exclusivity. Fine, requiring perseverance and diligence, work with soutache cord and an abundance of miniature fragments are distinguished by individual production. Therefore, soutache works are in great demand among popular fashionistas, celebrities and artists.

All people who want to look great and fashionable can learn how to apply this technique by reading the above. Of course, gold and silver works are in great demand, but, unfortunately, they are not available to everyone. Therefore, applying the knowledge gained in practice, the needlewomen will create no less original jewelry creations from the soutache cord with their own hands.

Mastering the above techniques, craftswomen create unique and individual crafts that delight with their unsurpassed beauty.

Soutache embroidery, despite its simple materials, looks very impressive. With the help of soutache, you can not only decorate clothes, but also create jewelry works of art. This type of needlework turns any woman into a real queen. For those who want to try themselves in soutache craftsmanship, it is important to learn the technique of creating a product, to know what tools will be needed and how to use the finished product . We talked with the masters of soutache embroidery - Natalya Luzik And Svetlana Churilovich. They shared their secrets with us and gave us some lessons.

Soutache embroidery appeared in the 14th century in France. Craftsmen decorated expensive outfits with details made using this technique. The embroidered fragments were sold separately and women of fashion could sew them onto the dress themselves.The fashion for soutache has been revived thanks to fashion designers whoagain began to use this technique in their collections. Thanks to soutache, any wardrobe items and any accessories are transformed.

A soutache is a thin braided cord that many refer to as a ribbon.It is made from silk, viscose, cotton and polyester.

Soutache embroidery is very popular among needlewomen, because as a result, the products look like jewelry, thanks to the glossy surface of the cord. Due to the fact that the colors of the flexible cord are diverse, you can create jewelry from it for any outfit and occasion.

In order to complement the product, precious stones, beads, gems, stones, etc. are used in the work. It all depends on the imagination and skill of the needlewoman. But the main thing is still the soutache cord.

What is soutache embroidery?

The technique consists in laying out the intended pattern with a cord on a fabric or on a special basis. During work, additional elements are still sewn on, in the form of stones, rhinestones and beads. The soutache fits perfectly on any surface and is easily sewn on. It is very convenient to work with it, thanks to its subtlety and elasticity. This allows you to realize any conceived pattern.

When working, it is best to use thin needles so that the surface of the cord does not change its neat appearance. And the threads must be taken to match the color of the soutache, so that at the end of the work they are not visible at all. Experienced craftswomen use a translucent thread, which is not only very strong, but also invisible.

The embroiderer needs patience, accuracy and care to keep the final design in her head.

When working in the technique of soutache embroidery, you should pay attention to:

  • The cord may unravel during operation, so at the beginning it is necessary to treat the ends with glue or burn them with fire;
  • As a lining, it is better to take a dense material,e.g. leather, felt or tweed.

Application of soutache embroidery

Soutache embroidery serves as a decoration for items of clothing, shoes, bags and hats. But embroidery gained its popularity thanks to the creation bijouterie , in the form of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hairpins and rings.

For this type of needlework, it is preferable to use floral patterns and ornaments, which are characterized by continuous lines. In their works, craftswomen use more silk threads, as they are durable, high-quality, easy to use, and the product turns out to be expressive and bright, thanks to the brilliance of silk threads. But for those who are just starting to master soutache embroidery, it is better to take cotton cords or polyester .

At the beginning of work, large decorations, such as stones or rhinestones, are sewn onto the base. In the future, they are sheathed along the contour with a cord using a thread. This way of working is quite simple, but it requires a certain skill from the craftswoman - to connect everything so that at the end the threads are not noticeable.

But the work is worth it so that the result is your own unique product.

For work we need:

  • Soutache in two colors. (In this case, it is blue and silver);
  • Cabochon made of natural stone;
  • Japanese beads No. 11;
  • Faceted beads 4mm;
  • Needles for beads Pony No. 10;
  • Threads Gutermann universal;
  • Scissors ;
  • Clay Moment Crystal;
  • For the wrong side you need a piece of leather;
  • For a substrate under a stone, you need a piece of hard felt.

Necessary materials

Step 1

We draw a sketch.

Step 2

We prepare a piece of felt, larger than the stone - about 5 mm on each side. We glue the stone with felt using glue.

We glue the stone with felt

Step 3

The ends of the segments must be treated with glue. We apply literally a drop of glue to the ends of the soutache and leave to dry.

We prepare the necessary segments

Step 4

Prepare the needle and thread. The length of the thread should be comfortable (recommended 50-60 cm). Tie a knot at the end of the thread. We fix the thread on the wrong side of the felt. We start sewing on the soutache. It is convenient to start where the beads are located on our sketch. I start from the top right corner of the stone. The soutache is sewn strictly through the groove in the center. Thus, it fits perpendicular to the felt and goes around our stone. We sew the soutache in 3 layers - blue silver blue. We sew all 3 layers at once.

We leave the ends of the soutache for a bead about 2-3 cm long. We make a reverse stitch almost to the same point where the thread comes out. We pierce the felt and go to the wrong side. Then we again go to the front side, pierce the soutache from the inside out, thus moving to the opposite corner of the stone.

When we reach the corner, we stop.

Step 5

Now we sew new pieces of soutache on the opposite side of the stone.After that, we sew all 6 layers of soutache at the joints. We make 2-3 stitches back and forth.

2-3 stitches

Step 6

We cut off the excess felt so that only the outermost layer of the soutache is visible from the inside.

We cut the felt

Step 7

We sew in the beads: we collect the bead on the thread, go around the soutache and pierce the soutache with a needle. We return back through the soutache and the bead. We sew the layers of soutache around the bead to each other. We fix the ends of the soutache.

Anyone, having studied several techniques and with a detailed description of the master class on soutache technique, will be able to create various decorations and decor for clothes with their own hands or use them as jewelry.

Any creative work, before being realized, requires a clear plan or at least a well-thought-out concept. The first stage consists of the preparatory process. First of all, we choose or create a scheme for the future decoration. If possible, it is necessary to draw a product, think over every detail, elements, so that you can purchase the required materials. The second stage is the creative process or the practical application of the acquired knowledge of the master class on soutache technique:

- we lay out in front of us the elements of the decoration that has not yet been created, we process the edges of the soutache braid. Some needlewomen singe the ends, others glue with PVA glue. The novice master himself chooses for himself the most convenient strategy, which he will adhere to in his work. The main thing is that do-it-yourself soutache embroidery brings pleasure; - with the next action, the soutache braid is folded with each other and bent in half. Sewn with small stitches. Stitches should be laid in the direction of the ends, starting from the middle; - if the product uses a cabochon, any other stone or decorative element with a flat side, then it is pre-attached to the lining material. When it is a precious stone, cabochon, cameo, then they are glued to the skin, felt or dense material. If the element replacing the stone has holes, it is sewn; - we start the fixed cabochon from the middle in a circle to stitch with braid. Soutache braid is most often used in several layers. You can use multi-colored ribbons or a single-colored type. The soutache technique allows you to develop your imagination without limiting the master's possibilities. To create a soutache harness, you can sew it together with your own hands or using a sewing machine with a special foot; - after sewing the cabochon, we sew the ends of the braid to each other. A kind of gap is formed between them; - the space that has arisen is sheathed with beads, beads, in general, everything that pushes the master to his level, class or fantasy; - the remaining processed ends of the braid are fixed on the wrong side; - if you use beads, then we pass the bead rows for sheathing gaps or the entire product several times so that they hold more securely; - the tips are hidden on the wrong side. After the decoration created by oneself is ready, the wrong side, so that rough, sloppy seams and ends are not visible, is covered with a small piece of dense fabric or material. Lay inconspicuous seams of wire or glue. The seams can be covered next to the beads. If this is a brooch, cameo or other item that is fixed on clothes, then you can attach a pin or immediately sew it to the finished product ... a few useful things and a photo -
