How to crochet car covers. How to knit car covers. Knitted car seat covers: photo

In this article we will tell you how to do it yourself. As it turned out, there is very little material on the network on this topic. But now knitted covers in the salon are a real rage! This is a stylish accessory and a great gift for a car enthusiast.

The choice of materials for knitting car covers

Work, of course, should begin with choice of materials . Because we will knit covers for more than one season, we will need a fairly strong, but at the same time soft yarn. In this case, Macrame yarn from YarnArt was used. It is voluminous, but at the same time it is not prickly at all (which is a big plus: you must admit that it would be very uncomfortable to sit on a warm, prickly seat in the summer in the heat or in the fall in rainy weather). This yarn has only one “disadvantage” - a small footage per skein, so a lot of skeins will be needed. For knitting from macrame yarn, hook No. 4.5 is perfect. Knitting turns out to be quite large, the product knits surprisingly quickly. If you want the cover to be very tight, use hook number 4.

Step-by-step instructions for knitting car covers

Let's start with the headrests.

Knitting a headrest for knitted covers in a car

We measure the parameters of the headrest: height (1), width (2) and the height of the upper narrowest part (3).

Basic parameters of covers

First, the front part is knitted with the main pattern. The dimensions of the rectangle are equal to parameters 1 and 2.

We begin to tie the finished rectangle on all four sides with mesh No. 1

Grid scheme #1

Attention: We do not make any additions in the corners, the mesh is knitted strictly along the perimeter and it turns out, as it were, “perpendicular” relative to the front.

Now the back of the headrest is knitted, also with mesh No. 1

Because in our case, the head restraints are in the shape of a triangle, in the back part here you need to make a small increase in width, then the head restraint will fit without undue stretch.

Increase scheme

After the back part is also tied, we tie the entire headrest with one common row of mesh so that it fits on the seat exactly on the “pins”. Along the edge, you can tie a row of single crochets.

Knitting a car seat cover

For knitted car covers may differ, because. different brands of cars have different seat shapes. But the basis for all is approximately the same (in our case, the Volkswagen Turan car).

Of course, the ideal option is if you have an old car cover at your disposal. Spread it at the seams, and get an absolutely accurate pattern of the future knitted cover.

The top and bottom pieces are knitted separately and then joined.

The burgundy color shows the area that is knitted with the main pattern, all other parts are knitted with mesh No. 2.

Grid Diagram #2

For a simpler calculation, you can knit all parts of the cover pattern separately, and then sew. In this case, everything was connected together (it is much more difficult to calculate, but then you don’t have to stitch it together).

Knitting the bottom of the car cover

We knit a rectangle with parameters 4 and 5 with the main pattern (see photo above). All other parts (side and back - they are marked in yellow and blue) are knitted in accordance with the parameters of the pattern with grid No. 2.

Knitting the upper part of the car cover

The top is knitted a little differently. First, it is not exactly rectangular, because in place of the driver's back, the seat narrows slightly, so the main part (which is knitted with the main pattern) should be knitted straight only until the narrowing begins, and then gradually and evenly reduce the number of loops on both sides. As a result, a canvas of this form is obtained:

The shape of the top of the case

The side elements (yellow and blue on the pattern) are also knitted with mesh No. 2 - their shape again depends on the parameters of your pattern.

After the side part is ready, tie the back upper part of the seat (shown in lilac in the diagram). In our case, parts C-D no, and at the back the cover ends at the level of the driver's back, without closing the seat pocket.

After you tie both parts of the cover, all that remains is to connect them in the middle.

It will not be possible to completely sew the cover along all the seams and sides, because. in this case, it will not be possible to put it on the seat. In order for the knitted cover to be securely fastened, you can use various elastic bands, straps, Velcro, hooks or ropes (at your discretion). In this case, at the request of the customer, several long ropes were tied.

This is how ready-made car covers look in the cabin.

In theory, the cover is put on “tight”, but the customer wanted to lift it up by putting the “pins” not on the side mesh, but on the main upper part, so the upper part of the cover hangs slightly in the photo.

At first glance, it may seem that tying car covers is very difficult. But, having started work, you will understand that “the eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing it!”

Successful work!

A car is not a luxury, but a convenient means of transportation. He helps us out in many situations. But do not forget that this is also a responsibility for the lives of pedestrians and passengers. Sometimes a simple technical inspection 2015 can reveal car flaws that should be fixed in order to avoid accidents.

Many car owners probably face the problem of cleaning the seats or just want to update the covers. I offer several ideas for knitting covers for cars with your own hands.

For beginners, this may be a laborious job, but for experienced craftswomen, knitting covers will not be difficult.

First you need to take measurements. To do this, you can use a regular transparent film and a non-erasable marker. Applying the film to the seat, circle each part of the cover with a marker.

Then the film mode along the contour and we knit a seat cover along it. The pattern can be any, the main thing is that it does not stretch. Most patterns are crocheted. You can also knit multi-colored fragments and connect by applying them to the pattern.

Large knitted flowers look especially beautiful. Fragments of flowers can decorate other parts of the car.

If you want, you can tie only part of the seat. The color of the yarn can be matched to the color of the car or covers.

Or use contrasting yarn to freshen up the interior of the car.

The bright colors will especially appeal to children. For them, you can tie convenient pockets in the rear seats.

It turns out that you can knit car covers - crochet.

This, of course, is not fast, but it is quite interesting even for yourself. Knit squares for yourself, combine them into a single whole - a colorful canvas, and the result is a very necessary and useful thing. Namely car covers. Such an original and completely non-standard solution for the interior decoration of a car.

These are the front seats. All parts of the covers are fixed as standard, there are strings and rubber bands everywhere.

I'm not the author, my mother knits. So she "dressed" the car of her son - my brother. She has already received an order to tie the car of friends who saw these covers.

The photo shows how to fasten knitted covers.

An elastic band is again threaded into the knitting holes, which tightens the canvas and it wraps around the seat sofa.

Bottom of front seat, rear.

Rear sofa of the car. Here reigns knitted patchwork.

Almost all seats are knitted from the middle, with a square.

Then these parts are connected to each other. Acrylic yarn.

Rear head restraints - center, side.

Fastening of a cover of a back head restraint, sideways.
