This bag is really easy to sew. I had to fiddle a little with the finish, namely, to decoupage a denim bag.

There is no bag pattern as such - I built and cut everything “by eye”, based on the material available, i.e. jeans. For sewing such a bag, I needed legs from two old jeans. By the way, I made cute ones out of some.

For sewing a denim bag, as I said above, I needed 4 legs, which I ripped (or rather, in order not to mess around, I cut the seams from the wrong side with scissors), ironed it and cut out these details (I took measurements for you) :

I sew the handles of the bag like this - I fold the upper and lower parts of the handles inside out, and I try to place the lower part in the middle, bend the edges of the upper part and sew the finishing double lines (the sewing machine is old, but it sews jeans perfectly).

Decoupage denim bag

I really wanted to try the second method, and then the case turned up ...

Thanks to this video, I made decoupage on denim. And I only had:

napkin;
PVA glue;
acrylic lacquer;
acrylic gold paint;
glitter.

Putting an unnecessary backing fabric under the fabric (so as not to stain the bag), I started experimenting and decoupage. To do this, I prepared a site on the fabric - I applied acrylic varnish under the motif of a napkin.

Then I cut out three daisies from such a napkin (received, by the way, in exchange on our Samoshveyka forum).

Covered with acrylic lacquer. The main thing is not to rush and let each layer dry well for a while.

I applied specks of gold acrylic paint. I covered it with another layer of acrylic varnish, then with glitter (so that the contours of the napkin were not so noticeable), then a couple more layers of varnish.

It turned out to be a kind of application, and no one guesses what it really is - guesswork “from application to thermal sticker”.

For more information about decoupage on fabric, see the video above. I don’t know how practical such a drawing is, but I liked the result. Plus, for the experiment, I chose a summer bag from old jeans. It seems like it's not a pity. There are a lot of jeans - I’ll sew more, if anything.

Bag lining

Going through my son's wardrobe and "removing" small things from time to time, I came across sweatpants, or rather, an interesting lining. The lining fabric is not ordinary, but mesh and elastic, that is, it takes almost any size. What you need for a bag, plus the color turned out to be blue, why not an ideal lining for a denim bag?!

So - I had the lining ready in a few minutes - I ripped the lining of the trousers, sewed the legs into one canvas, attached the base of the bag, circled the contours of the bottom with chalk, stitched and voila! The lining of the bag is ready.

If you did not find such an elastic lining fabric in your house, then we sew the lining as the basis of the bag.

Assembling the bag

So, the base of the bag is ready, the lining and handles are sewn. Let's move on to assembly. To do this, we sew two parts of the top of the bag along the short sides. It is possible to pre-duplicate these parts with non-woven fabric for strength. We iron the seams.

We sew the top to the base of the bag. You can make finishing lines.

Then we draw two parallel lines with soap: at a distance of 5 cm from the stitching seam, and then set aside another 3 cm.

We outline the locations of the handles and attach them like this:

Then we perform a tricky operation - we combine the outlined chalk lines (as if we make a fold-tuck in which the open sections of the handles will hide) and sew two finishing lines. This will be the top edge of the denim bag. I sewed it this way because of natural laziness - one-piece facings are always easier to sew (and the name of a SIMPLE bag is justified).

Now we sew the lining to the bag (to the one-piece facing of the top of the bag), leaving a 10 cm segment not stitched.

We turn the bag on the front side, straighten it, sew up the lining. We sew the finishing line (I have the third one) so that the bag and handles do not turn out.

That's all. A simple bag made from old jeans is ready. It is sewn, I repeat, very simply and quickly. I did not make pockets, because there is no need. I have for all sorts of little things.
