Manicure items. What tools should a manicure master have at the start (checklist)

A manicure set is a welcome gift for every woman. Our mothers and grandmothers, having received such, took care of it, were proud and passed it on by inheritance. But sometimes used only a few tools, because they did not know the purpose of the rest. Today we have more opportunities to get acquainted in detail with all the necessary tools for manicure.

Complete list of manicure tools

For professional manicure today there are many, machines and other devices. But the classic edged manicure is not going to give up its positions. Next, we will analyze in detail what professional tools are needed for, we will compile a complete list of the basic set, without which no woman can do.

To begin with, let's list necessary tools for manicure(description with photo):

  • Scissors short straight with a wide cutting part for cutting the nail.

  • Knipser, or manicure tweezers, for cutting nails. Compact and comfortable.

  • Thin scissors rounded for trimming cuticles.

  • Nail clippers for stripping the periungual roller.

  • Chaber (hatchet, spatula)- double-sided tool for pushing and stripping the cuticle.

  • Pusher- a spatula with a silicone tip for a more gentle pushing back of the cuticle.

  • Nail files for shaping nails.

  • Polishing blocks (buffs) to give the nail plate a glossy sheen.

How to use manicure tools at home

Home manicure according to the execution technique is different in that we do it ourselves. Impossible to grab a nail and do a manicure. But there is general technique and rules for using tools at home:

  • keep tools at a certain angle to the nail at each stage of the manicure;
  • quality should not be deep, but even, without inflammation.

Sequence and rules of work:

Nail shaping

Using scissors or a clipper, mark the length. Trim your nails carefully keep the scissors perpendicular to the surface, so you prevent delamination. The clippers of the nail clipper are initially located at the right angle, so it is very convenient for them to cut the nails of small children.

We give shape with a nail file with a diamond coating. Laser file with soldering effect - a godsend for problematic exfoliating nails. The nail file has two sides with different patterns for different nail thicknesses. When working, the nail file must be held perpendicular to the end of the nail. At a certain point, the nail file simply stops cutting, which means that the end of the nail is already perfectly smooth. Next, the hands should be softened in the bath.

Removal of the cuticle and periungual folds

The most delicate and traumatic moment.

Making the perfect line of the nail hole

Pusher with silicone tip - item not essential but comfortable. After all the manipulations with the cuticle, gently shift it again. The elastic tip does not bring discomfort in just cut areas.

Nail polishing

Polishing provides shine even without a special coating. Buffs, as a rule, have several surfaces with different abrasiveness. First, work with the harder side, removing all irregularities from the nail plate. Then gradually move to the smallest side. So you solder the surface of the nail, making it perfectly smooth. Work polishing buff without excessive pressure, moving smoothly over the entire surface from the cuticle to the edge of the nail. And remember that nail polishing, especially with the help of special tools, can be done no more than once a month.

How are manicure instruments disinfected and sterilized?

Many people think that instruments for individual use do not need to be sterilized. But in vain, because particles of skin can remain on them and bacteria can multiply. In addition, without regular cleaning, tools become dull and fail faster.

For beauty salons there is a strict instruction on how to sterilize manicure tools. The general process includes not only the sterilization of the instruments themselves, but also the disinfection of the premises, the master's clothes, and work surfaces. For sterilization, a special unit is used - a sterilizer for manicure tools (sterilization is the process of destroying spores of fungi and bacteria).

Consider, how to handle manicure tools, care for them at home after use.

Manicure tools processing carried out in several stages:

Files are also disinfected- Spray disinfectant. After that, the nail file should dry completely.

Sharpening a manicure tool

Tool sharpening is a real piece of jewelry work. Masters who sharpen tools with high quality (especially professional ones) take a long time to learn and are highly respected.

sharpening is manual and mechanical. Mechanical is faster. But manual sharpening provides an individual approach to each tool. The master inspects the tool, takes into account the width of the blades, the direction of the cutting part. Often carries out the restoration of the instrument. The cost of manual sharpening is much higher, but this procedure is not worth saving. High-quality sharpened tools serve for a long time and reliably.

To make tools last longer, they are followed by proper care - put the sharp part up. Even a fall on the floor can ruin the course of the cutting part.

How to choose the right tool for manicure

1. You can’t save on manicure tools. For them, the rule is - the more expensive, the better.

2. The choice of tools is purely individual, depends, among other things, on the size of the hands of the master. All instruments must be made of high quality medical steel. Convenient and easy to use. With all the variety of choices in online stores, masters prefer to get acquainted with the tool individually.

3. Tools can be bought in a set, or individually. Manicure set is convenient on the road. It should close well and securely fix the instruments. Please inspect the case before purchasing. If it is sewn carelessly, then the content will not be of the highest quality. All cutting parts must be in individual covers. When buying individually, the total cost is less, so you can buy tools of higher quality.

4. What to look for when choosing:

  • visual inspection. Manicure tools must have an absolutely smooth surface. Visible chips, notches and roughness are not allowed.
  • Tool operation. Silent, easy running ensures comfortable and high-quality work.
    Cutting part. When closed, the cutting strips of scissors or tweezers should fit perfectly. Raise the tool to the light - when closed, the sharp tips should meet perfectly at one point and not overlap. Try to cut thin paper - if it is torn or chewed, it is better to refuse such a tool.
  • The scraper is also selected according to the size of your nails. The width of the shoulder blade should not be more than the nail on the little finger. Also, the handle of the tool must be rough and not slip during operation.
  • Nail files are selected according to the condition of your nails. There are different shapes and different abrasiveness. There is a special marking for nail files - abrasiveness is measured in grits. The highest rate (1200 grit) is for gentle polishing buffs. Also, with problematic nails, iron nail files should be abandoned. It is better to use glass or ceramic coated.

What tools do you use for manicure? How do you check their quality and take care of them? Perhaps you have your own preferences and well-deserved manicure workers? Share with us your opinion. We are grateful.

Well-groomed hands are the most important part of the image of a modern woman. Sometimes there is not enough time to visit salons, constantly make corrections, renew varnish, etc. Some people simply do not trust their hands to anyone but themselves and do manicures at home. If you have chosen the “home option” for nail care, you will need a quality manicure kit.

How to choose a manicure set?

Convenient tools are the hallmark of a quality manicure set. When choosing tools, pay attention to the manufacturer, material and price of products. Manicure tools must be made of high-strength metal (it swings nippers, scissors, tongs, etc.). You should not save on them, regardless of whether they are intended for professional activities or self-care of nails.

Manicure tools are classified according to 3 functional groups:

  1. Cutting (scissors, wire cutters, nipsers, tongs). They must be sharpened so that they do not trip over several uses. By the way, sharpening tools is best done by specialists.
  2. Non-cutting (sticks, tweezers, nail cleaners).
  3. Devices for the treatment of cuticles and nails.

Working with high-quality manicure tools, you will not only provide an aesthetic and healthy look to the nail plate and cuticles, but also save a lot of money.

Manicure tools: main features and selection criteria

For a quality manicure, you can purchase a set from a well-known brand. Such tools are overpriced, as you give some of the money for the brand name. But you don't have to worry about what the appliances are made of, how long will they last? Cheap sets are often characterized by poor sharpening and low quality metal.

Basic manicure tools:

  • Nail clippers.
  • Files of various abrasiveness.
  • Cuticle tools.
  • Skin scissors.
  • Nail brushes.

Nippers and nail clippers

Nippers are a versatile tool for cutting nails. It is suitable for beginners and professionals. Nippers are suitable for working with marigolds of any hardness. This compact tool won't take up much space in your makeup bag.

Manicure tongs are a multifunctional tool that is used to trim nails, periungual skin and cuticles. The most convenient tools for performing a manicure are tweezers with a cutting edge length of up to 6 mm. Professionals often use an edge up to 11mm long. Such forceps provide a more even cut, but they are more difficult to use. For cleaning deep periungual pieces of skin, it is recommended to use forceps with a non-angular cutting edge.

Nail files

A nail file is in the arsenal of every woman. This tool is used to perform 3 main jobs:

  • Grinding of the nail plate.
  • Nail polishing.
  • Giving the desired shape and length to the nails.

The presented assortment of nail files on the beauty market is distinguished by its variety, shapes, rigidity of materials and prices. Before buying a nail file, pay attention to its graininess. The stiffness of this material is measured in grits. The higher the number of grits indicated on the package, the softer the surface of the instrument. For processing extended nails, it is better to use a nail file with a hardness of up to 180 grit. For owners of natural nails, a tool with the designation 200 grit is suitable. For polishing nails, you must use a file with a hardness of more than 1000 grit.

Tools such as saws are made from a variety of materials. The most popular are metal, ceramic, glass and sand nail files.

  1. Metal. Most often, this type of file is made with a diamond coating. They are used in the care of extended nails and in men's manicure. With frequent use of a metal nail file for manicure of natural nails, they will undergo delamination. For home use of a metal file, give preference to tools with a fine-grained finish.
  2. Ceramic. They gently affect the nail plate. It is rational to use for manicure of weakened nails.
  3. Glass - a universal option, suitable for nails of any thickness, without injuring them.
  4. Sand. This type of files is suitable for individual care (due to special spraying, they cannot be disinfected).

Brushes and spatulas

Each manicure set should have cuticle pushers and brushes in its arsenal. The former are easy to use and do not require maintenance. Professional blades are practical and beautiful and require special skills from the craftsmen.

Brushes are used to process the nail plate after (remove excess saw after filing the nail, and also remove the cuticle after hardware manicure). Soft manicure brushes do not injure damaged skin and do not scratch the nail plate. Hard brushes are not recommended for manicure of weak nails. They are designed to thoroughly clean the nail from dirt.

The number of manicure tools is determined individually. Most importantly, give preference to a trusted manufacturer. And also do not forget to clean the tools after each use, with the help of special disinfectants.

A professional manicure is quite expensive, and a lot of time is spent on visits to the salon. Moreover, the quality of work of even a proven master can often be very depressing. If you learn how to do a manicure yourself, the perfect look of your hands will be provided at any time.

How to do a manicure at home? Necessary tools and materials

Professional manicure equipment, expensive tools, lacquer collections - all this is relevant for beauty salons, as well as for those self-taught masters who already have or plan to attract a stream of customers and want to turn this activity into a business. To perform a high-quality and beautiful manicure at home, a very small set of tools is enough.

  1. File. Despite the variety of assortment in cosmetic stores, for a home manicure you will only need one, but properly selected file. The principle of choice is simple: the thinner your nails, the finer the abrasive coating on the tool should be. The material of manufacture, shape, design - all this is related to marketing, but not to the quality of your future manicure.
  2. Polishing buff. Polishing nails seems to many to be an optional step. However, if you perform it 1-2 times a month, you can achieve a much better quality manicure. A smooth nail plate provides a more aesthetic appearance of the decorative coating, and also prolongs the durability of the varnish. Choose a four-sided buff to be able to vary the intensity of grinding and polishing.
  3. Wire cutters. This tool is much more important than scissors. Choose a multifunctional option that can both remove cuticles and burrs, and adjust the length of the nail.
  4. Cuticle sticks. Give preference to orange tree sticks. Unfortunately, there are many analogues on the modern market that get wet, exfoliate and begin to scratch the nail plate after the first application.
  5. Nail polish remover. Normal liquid without acetone will do. You should not succumb to the tricks of marketers and buy products with oils, vitamins and other “useful” additives. Nail polish remover cannot nourish or care for nails, since this product is generally desirable to be washed off hands as quickly as possible with plain clean water. This tool should only remove the old varnish coating, and also help to correct the new one after application.
  6. Cuticle remover. Perhaps this is the only cosmetic product that actually allows you to make a beautiful manicure. Especially if your cuticles are growing back too fast.

Of course, the range of manicure products is much wider. If you really get into this activity and decide to do a manicure at home, you may find useful: polishing wax, nourishing oil, healing nail base coats, cuticle scrub, bath salt, lint-free nail polish remover wipes, nail polish dryer and much more. It should be understood that each of the auxiliary products can improve the results of a home manicure, but will not fundamentally change the situation. The main thing is the correctness of your actions.

Basic manicure procedure

If you have never done a manicure yourself, start with the basic steps. First of all, you need to give the nails the desired shape and polish them. These manipulations are recommended to be done on dry nails, otherwise you will injure the nail plate. Then soak your fingers in warm, soapy water for 10 minutes. Remove your hands from the bath, pat them dry with a tissue and apply a cuticle remover to the area. Leave on for 2-3 minutes, then gently push back the cuticles with a wooden stick. If necessary, cut off the remnants of overgrown skin and burrs with wire cutters. Finally, go over your nails with the smoothest side of the polishing buff and apply a nourishing cream on them.

If you plan to paint your nails, you need to degrease the nail plate (for example, with nail polish remover), apply a base coat, and only then - colored polish. If you do everything right, your manicure will be limited to these basic manipulations. As a result, the hands will always look well-groomed.

How to learn how to do a manicure: the most common mistakes

Unfortunately, when performing a manicure on your own, you can do some manipulations incorrectly. After 1-2 procedures, nothing terrible will happen, however, if you regularly repeat mistakes, the condition of your nails will begin to noticeably worsen.

  1. Excessive nail polishing. Yes, after diligent polishing, the nail plate looks great. However, it is worth remembering that this procedure can be carried out no more than 1-2 times a month. Otherwise, you will gradually thin your nails: it will not be noticeable externally, but after 10-12 months you will encounter brittleness, delamination and fragility of the nail plate.
  2. Permanent cutting to length with scissors. It is believed that it is enough to stop cutting your nails to get rid of their delamination. The fact is that with scissors you damage the edge of the nail and unnaturally bend the plate itself. That is why it is recommended to cut off the growing length, and not cut it.
  3. Cutting off rough skin on the periungual roller. Ideally, these areas of the fingers should be sanded with a file, and then nourished with cream or oil. Otherwise, after such an independent manicure, the roller may begin to dry out, coarsen and crack.

If you want to not only master the art of manicure, but also actively develop in this area, use a number of recommendations.

  • watch good instructional videos: often popular beauty bloggers can give really valuable advice;
  • subscribe to the blogs of popular “gourmet addicts”, because girls who are passionate about this topic often post step-by-step photo instructions on how to perform a manicure on their websites, share their best practices, and make detailed reviews of various tools and tools;
  • practice on artificial nails. Buy a set of inexpensive tips, stick them on a hard surface and hone your skills: give a different shape, apply varnish and drawings, try new manicure techniques.

IMHO, pampering)) Everything always rests on the lack of time at home for this procedure .. Perhaps at first you will do it, but then with tweezers it will be elementary faster than starting the "car"))
It's like with darsonval, for example. It's cheap, works well, people buy it for themselves ... and that's it ... the fuse is enough for 5 times, then everything is lying around)
In "Severina" there is an excellent tool for dissolving the cuticle. Kiren gave me a beauty! 10 minutes and no cuticles, bloody cuts and little time spent on manicures.
If overgrown shellac infuriates you, then you need to switch to jackets, I go with jackets with a transparent base for 5 weeks
But if you are puzzled, the speed of the machine should be at least 6 thousand revolutions! everything else is "farts")))

I have had such an amateur set [link-1] for about a year now (I took it much more expensive then). I prefer to go to the master. But when you urgently need to fix it yourself, then it’s not bad enough and I can cope with it.

I looked at what kind of new know-name wire cutters I have, here is such a brand [link-1]
The model only needs to be selected. What is convenient for a manicurist, for example, is not convenient for me at all.

I'm embarrassed to go for a manicure.... Nail care. Fashion and beauty. As I understand, not all masters notice and process them. I always do bare nails, and paint my nails myself with almost colorless French manicure polish.

When they write here that they have problems with nails, I think that they do not know what problems really are :)
From my 18 year nail pain. Essay. Maybe someone will help.
I did not notice the moment when my nails deteriorated. Around after school, why - there are several assumptions. Dysfunction of the thyroid gland, as a result of a distorted hormonal background during puberty. There is an opinion that from using a metal file. I doubt it, because our ancestors used it for decades and had nails. My mother, for example. It looks like she still nags like that. The nails always grew beautifully, quickly, but the tip peeled off, the peeled edge bent and broke off. As a result, it was technically impossible to grow long nails, no, the most excellent, varnish was kept on the bending tip. As a way out, she wore short nails, which she painted only with light varnishes that lasted a day or two. If the tip broke off, it was not as noticeable as with dark varnish. During this period, I did not concentrate much on my youth and beauty, I did not think much about any problems, the reasons for their occurrence and the fight against them. And in general, I had a very stormy life, it was not before that, I took care of myself on the machine.
But the lack of a chic manicure gradually began to excite me. I solved the problem with the thyroid gland a long time ago, everything was normalized. Vitamins are good saw. But at that time it became very important for me to join the culture of nail extension :) I spent 5 years in this thankless job! I experienced all possible techniques and materials, changed a lot of craftsmen and salons. The fact that your nails are preserved under extensions is bullshit. Luto hated wasting time on corrections. But, like beautiful nails had.
When I was just fed up with extensions, I decided to live with the nails that I have. Putting a lot of effort into their treatment. The beginning was sawed off almost to the meat nails after the gel. For the complete splicing of this nail. plates took six months. My health was under control, I took all possible vitamins and dietary supplements. I even passed an analysis for calcium metabolism in the body (parathyroid hormone). Everything is okay! I do housework with gloves on, I don’t wash with my hands, I don’t do a lot of dishes. What these unfortunate nails needed, I did not know !! Desperation was replaced by indifference that I can not have a beautiful manicure. For the next 5 years, I experienced on myself all the methods and means for treating nails that exist in the world. Prof. nail products (all kinds of Maval-Creatives), folk (soaking in sea salt, lemon, iodine), advice from some famous Hollywood manicurist (whom celebrities sign up for a year). She did everything in good faith, in courses. Each time it seemed that happiness was close ... But the nail plate peeled off already to the middle of the fingertips. It also looked visually bad, even under all sorts of medical coatings. Best of all, this disgrace is masked by transparent varnishes with sparkles! For a long time I went with gold sequins on my nails and I didn’t care if it was fashionable or not! Then I already studied what a matrix and dividing cells are and realized that you can’t cut the cuticle too frenziedly, exposing the bed of the nail to the utmost. At the same time, she refused a trimmed manicure and switched to chem. cuticle breaker. Now I know it's just as bad. In general, there were no nails, I gave up and started building up again.
I am an ace in building up, the last period I built up for myself. Been doing this for a year. Then the nails suddenly began to literally reject the material. I drank Omega-3 (although I used to drink it before) and Revalid vitamins. It became clear that the nails somehow got stronger and the acrylic did not adhere to them.
And I decided to conduct another experiment. Again, the beginning was the nail plate sawn after extension, and I got ready to splice it for the next six months. The tactic was as follows: stop poisoning the cuticle and the nail bed at the same time. means that dissolve the cuticle; stop touching the cuticles at all! do a manicure; support her with treatment; cut off even a millimeter of a growing nail, so that there is no free tip at all, so that nothing bends or deforms; nails are nothing! do not paint, only rub with oils.
As a result, she had short nails only on the fingertips, which are strictly 2 times a day! rubbed with treatment. The cuticle and nail plate were always moisturized and protected and looked good. The cuticle has grown to a certain level, then, in general, it seems to have grown to the nail. If you do not touch it for months and lubricate it with creams, then it does not fringe, does not grow, and you can not do a manicure! The main thing is to lubricate it twice a day with a good treatment. So I went for three months, enjoying the fact that I no longer have to waste time on manicures, varnishes, extensions. Then I saw that the growing nails look strong, there are no signs of delamination. I decided to try to grow long nails. And behold, they are. A completely forgotten feeling when there are solid and strong nail tips.
For treatment, I chose 2 products: Lash Lemon Sensation and Sally Hansen Diamond Cuticle+Nail Creme. Lasha has such a quantity of cream that I smeared all my hands with it completely and still it is somehow endless. Hansen likes it much more purely for tactile sensations and absorbency. In terms of usefulness, both tools are good, I don’t know which one helped, I use both alternately. At the same time I drink Revalid. I comply with all the above conditions! When all the funds run out, I will consider that the treatment is over and I will not do anything special with the nails. Let's see:)

Manicure set of 12 items.

Item Provided for free shop chinabuye.com

The review is dedicated to a set of 12 items for manicure or pedicure.

Equipment:

Unfortunately, the packaging did not survive the hardships of transportation, and was disposed of immediately after receipt. It is likely that if she had arrived safe and sound, the set could have been presented in her without embarrassment.

The set includes:
1. Scissors
2. Double-sided file
3. Small clipper (tweezers)
4. Medium clipper
5. Large clipper
6. Tweezers
7. Pusher 1
8. Pusher 2
9. Wire cutters
10. Eyelet needle
11. Spatula?
12. Burr knife
+ Cover.

Appearance:

The cover makes a good impression: soft leatherette, metal edging.

The post office pretty much wrinkled the parcel, and the cover had to be tweaked a little (bend in some places) so that the latch mechanism would work again.

The tools sit well in their places, tightly, without interfering with each other and without interfering with closing the case.

The metal from which the objects are made is quite thick, although I managed to slightly bend the relatively thin pusher. In normal use, this is simply not possible.
Edge processing is also mostly good - there are no burrs. The surface of the metal is rough, but I do not attribute this to the minuses, I even like it more.

The set does not give the impression of an expensive thing, but at the same time it is definitely not made “to throw away”.

Usage impressions:

The scissors are unexpectedly sharp, without play, with slightly curved noses, they easily cope with my (quite average) fingernails. Great for fine "work" with burrs.
I did not notice a difference in the quality of the haircut between them and the Clarette scissors I had. You can find fault with the processing of the edges - they are practically not polished. It does not interfere with use, but the aesthetics ...

A file with a large notch, the same on both sides, is only suitable for rough polishing, although it copes with that with dignity.

I don’t really like clippers at all, but apart from that I have no complaints - sharp lips, bite regularly. The metal is thick. And yes, instead of three different-sized clippers, it would be better to add more “strong” scissors, since narrow-nosed scissors are not suitable for all operations.

The nippers have a folding spring bracket - if you don’t like the automatic opening of the jaws, you can remove it. They bite just as well, the lips are even.

A needle with a loop is needed, as I understand it, to combat pimples. Notched on the handle, comfortable to hold. It looks creepy until this needle was used. Her review seems to be already on mysku.

The pusher is comfortable to hold due to the large notch on the handle, it is comfortable to use. The edges of the shoulder blades are rounded, they do not cause discomfort. The second pusher is slightly smaller and without notches.
(In the photo for comparison, a store pusher, for 120 rubles.)

The tweezers are ordinary, rather tenacious. In it, by the way, the steel is somewhat soft - it can be bent, and in general it looks the cheapest here.

The burr knife is kind of sharp, it cuts through paper easily.

Why do you need a spatula - I did not understand.

Conclusion:
When compared with similar manicure accessories sold by the piece at the local Magnit Cosmetic, I can say that they are identical in quality, but the Magnitov ones are more expensive. For the price of this set in Magnet, you could only buy, for example, scissors and a clipper.

More advanced manicure personal belongings cost one and a half times more for just one piece.

The set is not bad, I successfully use it. It does not pretend to be a set that will be with you all your life (for example, my mother still uses scissors bought 27 years ago in the GDR, and they are in excellent condition), but, nevertheless, it performs its functions properly.

Manicure tools

Due to the fact that the prices for a salon manicure are currently quite high, not every person can afford to have it done by the master on a weekly basis. Therefore, many learn to put their nails in order on their own at home. But in order for the manicure to look neat, not cause you any inconvenience or even injury, and besides, it does not take much time, it is important not only to have the right skills, but also the necessary tools. We will try to tell you what tools for manicure are needed in this article, as well as give a list and description of them.

Basic tools

There are two types of manicure - European and edged. They require different sets of tools. Thus, when performing, as the name implies, tweezers, wire cutters or scissors are not used. Whereas in the classic edged manicure, these tools play an extremely important role. So, for a classic edged manicure, the following tools are needed:

  1. Scissors;
  2. Nippers and/or tweezers;
  3. Files;
  4. Polishing buff;
  5. Manicure brush.

These manicure materials and equipment are the minimum required to create a high-quality and safe manicure at home. Depending on the convenience of handling, you can also purchase a trimmer for or other tools. But this is just a matter of convenience. If you intend to do not only a simple manicure, but also a nail design, then you will need such tools as:

  • Dots - a special device for creating circles and dots of different diameters using nail polish;
  • Thin brushes designed for applying patterns and prints;
  • Wide brushes for getting stains and shifting shades, applying various kinds of abstract images;
  • Acrylic brushes, if your design plans include acrylic painting;
  • A stamping kit for creating a quick and rather complex design in one step;
  • Toothpicks and needles for wet coating;
  • Stencils for French and moon manicure, as well as others.

Manicure stick

Tools for design and manicure should be individual. In the event that someone other than you uses them, it is necessary to boil them after each use in order to avoid the transmission of infectious and viral diseases through the blood. All types of manicure (edging - to a greater extent) are accompanied by microtraumas, sometimes invisible to the eye, so the risk of infection is very high. But at the beginning of work, even with individual manicure tools, they should be treated with antiseptics.

Choice of file and buff

A nail file is the tool that carries the greatest load in the right manicure. After all, very often they work not only during the manicure, but also periodically in other periods. Files differ in abrasiveness. Given this fact, it is necessary to select separate files for natural nails, as well as extended ones and for pedicure. This will significantly reduce the processing time without causing damage to the nails.

For artificial and extended nails, the coarsest files can be used. These cannot be used for natural nails, as they destroy them, provoking delamination of the nail plate. Medium abrasive files can be used for toenails. There, the plates are thicker and more rigid, so such a file will not harm them.

If the file has an abrasiveness from 900 to 1200 grit, then it will not work to reduce the length of the nails, since it is more of a polishing buff than a file. 400 - 900 grit is the minimum abrasion that even the loosest thinner inserts can handle. 200 - 400 grit is good for finishing the manicure and removing the smallest snags on the saw cut of the free edge. But if the abrasiveness is below 180, then this is exclusively a file for artificial nails or for preparing your own plates for extension. All that is needed for a professional manicure, in addition to the basic tools, is 3-4 files of different abrasiveness, it is impossible to perform the entire range of work with one file.

As for buffs for polishing, things are much simpler with them. Most often on sale there is a four-sided buff on a soft basis, which has four polishes of different abrasiveness. Usually they even have markings explaining in what sequence to use the files. It is important to remember that even very healthy and strong nails can be thoroughly polished no more than once a week.

Choice of scrapers

Cutting tool

Under the name scrapers, a whole range of manicure tools of various appearance and purpose is combined. The most popular and widely used of them will be described in this section. In a manicure, they are not essentials, but their presence will make the procedure easier and faster, and the result more professional and aesthetic.

Manicure spatulas, properly called pushers, are used to push the cuticle away from the nail plate. After that, it can be cut or dissolved with a remover. Pushers are rectangular and oval. The first is suitable if the base of the nail is more or less straight, and the nail is rectangular. The latter are more suitable for round nails.

There are also pointed narrow blades - spears. They are needed in order to remove dirt from under the nail, dead epithelial cells and remnants of nail dust after filing the free edge. The tip of such devices is usually rounded, and therefore the likelihood of injury, if used carefully, is very low.

There is another, quite rarely used, kind of tool - a scraper. They are mainly used for nail psoriasis or mycotic lesions. How to use manicure tools from this group is clear from the name - they simply scrape off dead cells from the surface of the nail plate. On healthy nails is used only as a last resort.

Cuticle removal tools

In this section, we will consider not only tools, but also materials for manicure at home, used to remove the cuticle and presented in the photo. In an unedged manicure, the cuticle is usually either not removed at all, but only shifted, or dissolved with the help of a special liquid - a remover. This helps keep the nails in good condition without damaging the cuticles, which can cause them to grow back.

Removers contain acid or alkali, which dissolve the cuticle. Therefore, it is very important that, when applied, the composition does not get either on the nail or on the skin of the pre-nail ridges, as this can cause a chemical burn. Available in liquid, cream or gel form. After the product stays on the cuticle for about 2-10 minutes, the separated skin can be easily scraped off with an orange stick.

When trimming a manicure, trimmers or scissors can be used to remove the cuticle. Trimmers are a tool, the working part of which has a V-shape with a sharpening in the narrowing, with the help of which the trimming takes place. They are convenient in that they help not only to remove the cuticle, but also to process the pre-nail holes.

Scissors should be chosen with the thinnest possible tip. Curved or not to choose blades is purely a matter of convenience, some are used to working with curved blades, and some are straight. Scissors, unlike a trimmer, are a rather traumatic way to remove the cuticle, as it is easy to cut yourself with them, especially when performing a manicure on the right hand.

All cutting tools are hand or machine sharpened. Tools of the first type are more expensive, but last longer. Tools with machine sharpening are enough for 15 - 20 procedures. At the same time, it makes no sense to give them for sharpening, as this can cause deformation of the excessively soft metal from which they are made.

In this article, we talked about what files are needed for manicure, as well as about other tools. However, all recommendations are conditional. Therefore, it is very important to choose such tools with which it will be convenient for you to work.
