A bright and beautiful rainbow made of paper is a great spring-summer craft for children. There are many ways to create it, two of which are presented in this master class.
For work you will need:
- Double-sided colored cardboard of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, violet;
- Ruler, simple pencil, scissors, glue;
- For the second method - also cotton wool.
Paper rainbow step by step
Cut out 7 stripes from colored cardboard, matching the color of the rainbow. Any size, but keep in mind that 6 strips will overlap a little, which means you need to add a few millimeters to the desired width. For example, the rainbow presented in this review consists of stripes, the length of which is equal to the narrow side of A4 paper. Width of 6 stripes - 1.5 cm, purple - 1 cm.
Glue all the strips together, sticking each subsequent on the previous one. The sides can be trimmed, but this is not necessary, later they will not be visible.
Draw a cloud of any shape and cut out 4 identical ones. Clouds can be made of white cardboard, perhaps in a snow-white state they are even more beautiful.
At this stage, you can immediately glue two clouds on the ends of the rainbow from different sides, but it’s better to make the rainbow arched before adding clouds, as it should be. Due to the fact that the strips are made of cardboard, the arched position will be held much better than if it were paper. To bend the strips glued together, draw a simple pencil through their entire area, while slightly bending the rainbow down. Usually, leaves for flowers are created in this way, beautifully wrapping them in one direction. Draw a few times under the rainbow with a pencil, help a little with your hands, gently pressing the tips together and thereby creating an arc. But do not overdo it, rainbows do not need sharp corners.
If you haven't glued the clouds yet, do it now. It will turn out such a simple and cute paper rainbow.
Depending on how thick the paper is, it is not always possible to give the rainbow an arcuate position. In this case, there are two solutions to the problem:
- Glue the clouds to the paper, fixing the position.
- Cut off a thin strip of paper, bend the rainbow and glue this strip on the sides on the inside, having previously determined the height of the arc.

All actions to create a rainbow, as in the first version. Then cut out the clouds, bend the ends of the multi-colored strips glued together and glue to the cloud. Glue the clouds themselves to the cardboard, but not in the side area, but on the entire side.

How to make clouds from cotton wool yourself and decorate the children's room with them
The process of preparing clouds at home can be divided into several stages.
For clouds, in addition to cotton wool, we need a starch paste. To make a potato starch paste, take a glass of cold water and stir two teaspoons of potato starch into it. Pour the resulting mixture into a ladle and bring to a boil, but do not boil it. During the heating process, do not forget to stir the starch solution. Let cool. The paste will be ready when it becomes thick enough. Then it can be smeared with a brush.
Leave the welded glue to cool to room temperature.
The basis of the clouds will be cotton wool. You will need a lot of cotton wool. Form clouds of the desired size from cotton wool.
Prepare a dish or basin that can be used to dip the clouds in the paste. Pour the previously prepared and cooled paste into it.
Briefly dip the clouds made of cotton wool one at a time into the paste and take them out. Spread the glue with your fingers more evenly over the surface of the cotton cloud. If necessary, excess glue can be removed from the cotton cloud by simply wringing it out.
Put blanks of cotton clouds treated with paste on a plastic tray or window sill. You can even use large ceramic or glassware with a smooth surface for this.
Leave the cotton clouds soaked in the paste to dry for about a day. For even drying, periodically after a couple of hours, try to turn them over. After drying, dried cotton clouds can be slightly wrinkled.
In order to decorate the interior of a child's room with clouds, tie strings to the clouds and attach them to the ceiling.
Another way to make a cloud
Another way to make a cloud yourself and a great idea for a photo with clouds.
First you need to inflate the balloons, it is desirable that there are a lot of balloons, and tie them with one rope in the form of a cloud. Most of all, the shape of the cloud resembles a triangle.
Spread the balls with PVA glue and glue pieces of white paper to them using the papier-mâché technique, so that there are no gaps left so that they create a single whole.
On top of the paper of the future cloud, stick ordinary cotton wool or synthetic winterizer from an old down jacket or an old jacket. Keep the future cloud hanging until it dries.
When the cloud dries up, you can imitate its flight, you can hang it on a tall tree or on the ceiling, or even better, fill the balloons with helium, if there are enough balloons and a little cotton wool, then it is possible that it will soar by itself. However, hanging a cloud is the best option.

d. IMPORTANT! In no case do not bring to a boil and stir all the time;
e. When the mash acquires a consistency similar to sour cream, set aside from heat and let cool;
While our mixture is cooling off to the side, let's take up the clouds:
a. It is necessary to form lumps of cotton wool, the sizes you need;
b. Prepare another container with a wide bottom for dipping our clouds;
c. Then pour a little paste to cover the bottom, and start rolling your lumps in this creamy liquid;
d. IMPORTANT! Do not soak cotton balls, but lightly coat;
e. Then combine with each other sticky lumps in the form of clouds
In order for our product to have the same finished look, you should still put wet clouds on a flat surface and let them dry, sometimes turning them over.
And, perhaps, the last piece of advice: after drying, the clouds need to be slightly wrinkled, to give them a more lively and airy shape.
Such clouds will be a wonderful decoration for a nursery or bedroom. Hang them on a rope under the ceiling and enjoy the lightness of feathery lumps.

- Save this template to your computer. Print. If you need the ball bigger or smaller, resize the image in a photo editing program. Pay attention to the symbols: asterisks and arrows.
- Cut out 30 identical parts according to the template.
- Connect the details. Connection points are marked with asterisks and arrows. Asterisks connect with asterisks, arrows with arrows. Thus, two different connections (nodes) should be obtained. To connect from stars, you will need 5 parts, and for connecting from arrows, only 3.
- Keep collecting until you get such a star.
- Continue assembling until you get a ball.
